Most historians of the American presidency—walking in lockstep with today’s hard-Left academic establishment—favor presidents who were big-government statists and globalists. They dislike presidents who lowered taxes, protected American workers, and avoided getting the United States entangled in foreign conflicts that had nothing to do with protecting the American people. It is through that prism that they see all of American history.
It’s time for a change. Nowadays, with socialism massively discredited and internationalism facing more opposition than it has since before World War II, it’s time to reevaluate what the Leftist historians have told us. Donald Trump was elected president pledging to put America First, as any nation’s leader should put his or her own people first. There needs to be an America-First reevaluation of him and his predecessors.
This book, therefore, rates the presidents not on the basis of criteria developed by socialist internationalist historians, but on their fidelity to the United States Constitution and to the powers, and limits to those powers, of the president as delineated by the Founding Fathers. America’s presidents are rated on the extent to which they put America First—not in the sense of a narrow isolationism, but whether they really advanced the interests of the American people.
This upends the conventional wisdom about a great deal of American history and present-day reality, and is intended to do so. This book offers what should be the only criteria for rating the occupants of the White House: were they good for America?
Preorder Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster here.

@Mike, regarding one POTUS interfering with the next, please read American history, e.g. Teddy Roosevelt vs William Howard Taft.
As for Presidents of the last 50 years, the worst were Nixon and W43. Nixon did more to divide the country than any other including the current POTUS.
There are no perfect people, so whether you see a particular glass half empty or half full can be a question of perspective, but Obama was either much better or much less bad than Nixon and W43. Also, one should consider the alternative in any election; Obama was much better or much less bad than McCain and Romnesia.

George Bush was not the best president, but he is a decent American and loves this country, Not sure you can say the same about the appalling Obama.
Rufolino says
It’s a pity that the most powerful country on earth keeps electing Presidents who so obviously have feet of clay. Though some are certainly better than others (and some are simply awful.)
We are very lucky in the United Kingdom. We have Kingship. A monarchy built on a constitutional foundation that has evolved over one thousand years.
A President cannot be compared with an Anointed Soveriegn, because as Shakespeare said, “there is a divinity that doth hedge a king”. The Queen is set apart for life in the sight of God, anointed with Holy Oil, with a Crown set upon her head at the Coronation.
Since the start of her reign the Queen has been burdened and inspired with the thought that she HAS TO BE perfect, for her people.
Mumbo jumbo you can call that, until you see the Queen. Or speak to her. And then you realise to your astonishment, it isn’t. Mature men have been known to weep when confronted by her. No elected President of the USA, or of any country on earth, possesses the charisma of an Anointed Sovereign.
gravenimage says
Rufolino, there have been some truly terrible monarchs, and they cannot be voted out of office. I generally respect Queen Elizabeth, but her son Charles is an Islamophile who is apt to make a *terrible* king. Edward VIII, who admired Hitler, would have been disastrous as well.
Moreover, Britain is a Constitutional Monarchy–the Prime Minister, who is indeed elected, has more to do with the day-to-day running of the country than does whoever sits on the throne.
Rod says
gravy, it’s not the custom for a British monarch to be “voted out of office”.
But with your deep knowledge of history you would know that King Charles the First was, quite properly, tried, convicted and beheaded for his crimes. James his son, was, again quite properly, “persuaded” to abandon his throne after gross abuse of his power. Other British kings, like George III (ill) and Edward VIII (hopeless) have in one way or another been replaced when found to be unsatisfactory. When it becomes necessary, it can be done.
The extraordinary thing is that the US president is, literally, above the law, and cannot be indicted, no matter how opprobrious or criminal his behaviour. Just one example of the loopy thinking of your much revered founding fathers, and the many reforms begging to be made to your Constitution. The pussy-grabbing president is taking full advantage of this undeserved immunity to grossly misuse his power to the great cost of America’s reputation and its people’s future prosperity. How can you bear it?
Rod says
But what a loss was Sarah Palin! What might have been. Sigh……..
gravenimage says
“Rod’s” ludicrous implication that the likely future King Charles would be violently deposed and executed because his distant ancestor and namesake was is just absurd.
His comments about American presidents are just as ridiculous.
Alarmed Pig Farmer says
Did I say that Obama was the worst POTUS to ever be elected
One thing’s for sure, he was the most corrupt president ever, by a wide margin. It’s not even close. All Nixon did was cover up a stupid burglary, but he did the felony of aiding and abetting so he had to go. Buchanan was way worse than Nixon, with his complicity in the Dred Scott decision. But Barack Hussein Obama? He deployed the intelligence and police services to deep six the opposition candidate in a presidential election. He allowed his vice president to take in big money from the Ukraine and Communist China. He legislated from the Oval Office with his pen and phone like no president ever had before. He looked past Bill & Hill’s uranium-for-$145 billion barter. He did it all, yet is held in high esteem by the media and academe today. Wonders.

Any thinking America who lived through and survived the presidency of James Earl Carter and then experienced the subsequent presidency of Ronald Wilson Reagan is ahead of the game in spotting the good the bad and the ugly among US presidential administrations.
Do a search for Carters malaise speech and find out what it was really like in 1979. Blocks long gas lines, energy crisis, unemployment, inflation, but don’t despair, that’s not all.
“The threat is nearly invisible in ordinary ways. It is a crisis of confidence. It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul and spirit of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt about the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of a unity of purpose for our nation.” Excerpt from Carter speech 1979.
Just like modern Hollywood remakes seem to be part of the democrat strategy.

Meanwhile, everything today is just rosy. Isn’t it? Civil strife, the economy tanking,160 thousand dead from a virus out of control, America divided as never before, a helpless, lying, fumbling leader, a laughing stock all over the world, and racism, always racism. While millions of non-Americans are genuinely afraid of a war accidentally triggered by the incompetent stupidity of Donald J Trump.
(Didn’t the sainted Reagan put millions of Americans out of work? Just asking).
Phil Copson says
Donald Trump is not responsible for civil strife engineered by those who’ve had their candy taken away / or for the economic consequences of a virus developed and released by the Chinese / America’s problem is not with non-existent systemic racism, but with professional race-baiters and agitators stirring up hatred of any form of civic authority as a weapon to overturn democracy and install permanent socialist control / Trump is far more reluctant to get America involved in military conflict than previous Presidents, and has instead concentrated on restoring both the manufacturing base and America’s standing in the world, defending the US from industrial espionage, cyber espionage, illegal mass migration, the constitution from the hard-Left, and representative democracy from highly-organised mass fraud.
Or you can live in a country run by the likes of Biden, Sanders, Schumer, Schiff, Pelosi, AOC, Omar, Rice etc and watch it’s cities burn while it’s police forces are closed down, and it’s corrupted intelligence services under the likes of Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Strozk and Page invent fake evidence for their equally dodgy sidekicks in the US legal system – Lynch, Yates, Sullivan etc – to hunt down and imprison anyone who dares speak out against it.

Yes, Antifaman. Trump sent agents of law and order to Oregon and thus, quite naturally, Oregonians who were busy doing other things just had to go to the streets to empty their brick caches. And racism, yes, the race in question must be Islam to not be named, but why the description of Biden in the middle (helpless, etc.) As for non-Americans being afraid of a war I would be more afraid of you in power, by far. As for Reagan putting Americans out-of-work Carter famously put American diplomats out-of-work for about a year. I suppose you admired that.

Same talking point that was used against Reagan. Unoriginal repetitive and ridiculous. I would have thought people would have come up with a better line of BS by now.
It was easy to find a job if you wanted to work during Reagan’s time in office. Carters slogan for his time in office could be, out of business. And just like today’s democrats it is always someone else’s fault and there is nothing that can be done about it. Leadership, not.
The primary difference between then and now is democrats were a little smarter and not quite as loony back then.

The soviets nick named Thatcher the Iron Lady and that’s really saying something. Again, we hear a lot of tough talk, we see a lot of strong women portrayals from progs regarding their women but there is no Iron there. We very much live in a pretend reality. In the USA the name Benedict carries with it a bad connotation. No real American would name their kid that.

‘The US has bought up virtually all the stocks for the next three months of one of the two drugs proven to work against Covid-19, leaving none for the UK, Europe or most of the rest of the world.
Experts and campaigners are alarmed both by the US unilateral action on remdesivir and the wider implications, for instance in the event of a vaccine becoming available. The Trump administration has already shown that it is prepared to outbid and outmanoeuvre all other countries to secure the medical supplies it needs for the US.
“They’ve got access to most of the drug supply [of remdesivir], so there’s nothing for Europe,” said Dr Andrew Hill, senior visiting research fellow at Liverpool University.’
Somehow, I can’t imagine FDR, Kennedy, GHW Bush, or Obama behaving in this way. But today’s USA is different, and the BoneSpur President is a man for the times. He’s all for himself, and many Americans have eagerly swallowed his blend of KoolAid. All good Christians, but, as for “Goodwill to all men” or “Do unto others”, no. Sorry, they have other plans.
Giacomo Latta says
Antifaman, perhaps your brain isn’t capable of reading and understanding the contents of history books but in the 1950s the US was struck by a polio virus. The US government put tons of money into encouraging those who would have the ability to do so to develop a vaccine to stop the virus in its tracks. Did it first ship free and abundant amounts of the vaccine abroad? No, it did not and why should it? Treating foreign invaders with more care than it treats its own citizens is what has turn most of Europe into a mess.
Remdesivir is not a vaccine. It was invented in the hope of providing a quicker recovery from viral infections in general. It has so far been found wanting in that respect so its makers have promoted it as a solution for COVID-19, which has yet to be proven. If the US has stockpiled remdesivir to fight COVID-19 then finally there is a valid criticism for you to dwell on because remdesivir is anything but a vaccine.
As for your anti-Christian vibe, I’m sure Obama and his love for Islam would mean distributing remdesivir or a an anti-COVID-19 vaccine to blacks only because as he would be first to tell you at your next Antifa event, only black lives (and 50%-black lives) matter.
