Fastball Flirt

It was meant to be a fling...

One hot summer with a major league flirt. The star pitcher with chocolatey brown hair, eyes to match, and a body I drooled over.

I wanted to have fun, make once in a lifetime memories, travel across the country.

I didn't mean to fall in love.

I had dreams to fulfill and goals to achieve.

I had a plan.

But plans have a bad habit of falling apart.

Sexy. Swoony. Sweet. All the words I’d use to describe Hollis Freaking Graham. Holy hell he is hot AF! Definitely my favorite KC hero! I love how sure of himself he is. He’s so not the stereotypical ball player and I LOVED that about him. He was so patient and sweet, sometimes I just wanted to shake Lila for not believing in him as much as he believed in her. I loved their dynamic, their banter and even their back and forth in the beginning! Five freaking stars!

Book 1 in the Boys of Summer series and what a start. Love sports romance. One of my favorite tropes. So of course, I had to pick this up. It was fun reading about the pitcher and the nurse. Loved Hollis and Lila. Their love story will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride that will be so worth it when you are finished with the story. Loved it. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

I wanted to take a few days and mull over how to write my review of this book.

The book has an interesting and ever growing plot. The characters have relatable lives; well, except for the Red Sox pitcher that is. I think the best way to walk you through this is to start with what really leapt out at me, and what elements of the story have stuck with me the last few days.

This is the first novel I’ve read by Ms. Cheyenne. I was excited to read this novel, and was pleasantly surprised to have the bulk of the story set in Boston. (Well, again, except for the Red Sox thing - but that’s completely on me)

Fastball Flirt is a sports based Insta love story featuring two characters that would normally never fall in love at first sight. These personality differences are like opposite poles on a magnet which creates the mainstay of the plot tension. This plays well and consistently throughout the story.

Lila is a mostly introverted, studious, anxiety driven nursing student at Northeastern University. It’s finals week of her senior year and she is deep into her textbooks. Lila lives with two other NU students - Bridget and Phoebe. Bridget is actually the bridge between Lila and Phoebe as the ladies have polar opposite personalities. Phoebe is larger than life, living life, and taking all she can get out of it. Bridget is a good balance of both these personalities so the trio balances each other out.

Our male interest is the hot new pitching phenom for the Sox. Drafted out of college and called right into the majors, Hollis Graham is on fire. As is his fastball. Hollis is a committed professional athlete who is playing for a top tier American League team and wants to keep his spot on the roster for as long as he can. Hollis is career focused, allowing himself minimal distractions, which makes him a bit withdrawn from some of his teammates who are enjoying all the aspects of the professional ball players lifestyle.

Hollis and Lila meet in what I believe is every female baseball fans perfect fantasy. Bridget has talked Lila into taking a brain break and attending a Sox game. She has killer seats by the Sox dugout. Lila catches Hollis’ eye. They have a little flirt, next thing she knows, Lila is the proud owner of a baseball with an engraved date invitation. Seriously. This whole scene - SWOON. Well well done.

The next bit takes us through both the building of the relationship as well as the bumps these two are going to hit. This part of the book holds together well. Lila is still well in character with tunnel vision on her finals, grad school and graduation. We also begin to find out that Lila’s family isn’t picture postcard perfect. Or even in the same league as a post card family. It’s shattering and it begins to explain Lila’s hesitancy as well as some of her other driving personality traits.

Hollis is somewhat the opposite. He’s an optimistic guy who charges in after reviewing his odds. Her roommates push Lila to date Hollis, at least once, and it turns out to be the best thing for her. Hollis and Lila’s Insta love/crush is cemented.

Hollis goes off on for a series on the road and Lila finishes her undergrad. By the time the Sox are back for a home game stretch - Hollis has decided that he wants to spend the summer with Lila and take her on the road with the team. Lila WOULD say no, however that real world thing came knocking for Bridget and Phoebe. The girls all have to vacate their apartment leaving Lila homeless for a few weeks.

The Hollis Graham baseball roadie state tour is accepted and our love birds head off into heavy baseball season.

It’s at this point that things for me became a tad disconnected.

Hollis and Lila’s emotions are written as growing and deepening, but their communication is stuttering. Even as Hollis can “read” Lila’s “moods” or anxiety, he doesn’t push on her to talk or to lean on him. Neither does Lila create a support system for herself, even though she recognizes these personality issues.

Another dissonant chord for me was the fact that even going on the road with Hollis is out of character for Lila - which is amazing. I was cheering her on for jumping in and just trusting. The girl that is written in those weeks is a normal, intelligent girl, who is gradually adjusting to having a very famous boyfriend.

Yet little comments start popping up about Lila drinking too much and “doing a one eighty” in her personality. While these issues are apparent in the plot, they aren’t hindering Lila at all. It’s more that these things are mentioned as being concerning to Hollis, her friends, and her brother...yet NO ONE approaches her about it or discusses their concerns with her.

This fell flat for me. I felt as if there may have been plot threads that were originally going somewhere, but they were dropped in revisions and never properly tied off.

Finally the end of the summer comes. It’s make or break time for Lila and Hollis. They decide to try long distance, realizing that their feelings are deeper than before.
Lila leaves Hollis in a sobbing mess and heads to Philly and grad school.

Here again, some of the story felt flat. It also felt forced to add in Lila’s neighbor. Make him
a male. Have him take over the “looking after Lila chores”. Long distance takes work. Even with killer high stress jobs like these two have. If they can be successful in their careers, I would have expected to see more fight, more dialogue, or tension over the space and missing each other. As two type As, there should have been more stress, tension, and dialogue between them over the distance.

Then comes the big issue. Hollis’ career reaches a massive stopping point.

It’s unexpected, it’s painful, and Hollis does not handle it well. Neither does Lila.

For a high demand pitcher playing for a series winning team, the lack of agent, coaching, PR, and medical team in Hollis’ life is startling. This is not how a pro baller would be treated. He’d have an enforced support circle. And he doesn’t in this book. This was really stark to me when I realized that neither main character had a support system that would naturally be there. It made some plot points a bit clunky and forced.

Hollis and Lila finally reach a breaking point. At this part of the book I honestly thought they’d just be done. Each is so set in their lane. Each is giving the other “space” but no one is saying WORDS.

I had to put the book down.

I did come back to it and I’m glad I did. Ms. Cheyenne uses a wonderful, but heartbreaking, tool to reconnect these two broken bits.

They are still living their own hurts and in their own bubbles, but they start ACTING more vs THINKING. Lila FINALLY opens up to Hollis and explains the compromise she’s been working on for them to be able to be together. It’s a great idea and a great plan.

In the end, Lila and Hollis end up with their happy ever after.

I just felt that the road to get there was too convoluted, didn’t show character growth or development. The plot seemed to keep the characters limited to the boxes they originally started out in. Ms. Cheyenne wrote a story of an emotionally abandoned woman who is driving her way to a career through sheer force of will alone. Yet, none of that drive, that passion, that dedication is given to Hollis or their relationship.

Yes, Lila needs her own career and her own life, but her character never grows out of the shell she starts in.

Hollis is a phenom. A wonder kid. In the Pros for one of the teams that consistently is battling for first place in their league. Yet, there isn’t any support from the management office, the sports therapy staff, the coaches, his agent..heck his proud parents only pop up twice in the story. To be this isolated at that level of play and investment is unrealistic. I would have expected more input or “noise” from Hollis’ people on this relationship.

I know that this is a fun romantic romp with opposites attracting. I just would like to also see them grow as people. I’m going to read other novels from this author as this book showed solid plot basis, character truth and commitment to that truth as well as attention to details in the character’s world.

It is also the first in a new series. I’m hopeful that Lila and Hollis visit the other boys of summer so we can see how they continue to grow and love each other.

My final thoughts from this book are two real life spoilers. And I apologize to any newer baseball fans or National League fans if I break hearts.

Two large items stood out to me as someone who is familiar with the Sox, Fenway, and Boston.

First - and this makes ME sad - there are no crab fries to be had at Fenway.😢

Fenway Park to me, is the smell of a hundred grilling meats and pure grease. You walk in from Lansdowne street and you are engulfed in the meat smoke.
I would like to say that I checked in with my Fenway experts to see IF crab fries had been added and I missed them.
As of the close of the 2019 - 2020 season (pre COVID) ... no crab fries. But we’ll fight for them! They sounded good.
Second and final - as the author states in the novel, Hollis is a pitcher for an American League team. Pitchers in the AL typically don’t bat. Think of Roger Clemens, Andy Petite, Mike Mussina (now you know my team) none of these pitchers would take at bats in their American League fields - which Fenway Park is. It made for an incredible plot line for Hollis to have this massive bat as well as a fire fastball. It worked in the book. Unfortunately for fans, up until this past year you would have ALWAYS seen Big Papi strolling up to the plate instead of the pitcher on deck for the game at Fenway. Big Papi is one of the best DHs we’ve seen in awhile. I’m sorry Hollis. I loved your moment in the sun though!

I absolutely adored this baseball rom-com and Lila's neurotic craziness. Kelsey put the fun in baseball in this whirlwind, swoony romance full of laughs. I can't wait for more of this series. There were so many great secondary characters that I want to see get their own books and I want more of Hollis and Lila.

Kelsey Cheyenne can take me out to the ball game anytime, any day of the week if it means I get to read more of her Boys of Summer series!

This first book in the hot new series by Kelsey is my favorite Kelsey book so far. Hollis Graham, the swoony, sexy, unstoppable baseball pitcher in his prime struck out some of the best players in the game with his winning arm, and had no problem scoring a home run with all the ladies. When he looks up from the field and she’s a game changer for him, when she and her friend attend one of his games.

This book seems at first glance like it’s gonna be just a fun and flirty summer of fun kind of book, which don’t get me wrong, it is… but it’s SO.MUCH.MORE!

I laughed so hard when I started because it was adorably charming with fun and flirty banter that was witty and just perfect. This quickly morphed to a heartwarming and engaging story that kept me on the edge of wondering will they or won’t they ever be able to get it together. I was blown away by the unexpected emotional rollercoaster this book took me on, because when I first started I was just expecting a rom-com. I can’t possibly recommend it enough!

Y’all, this is rom-com, contemporary romance, new adult romance at its best. It invoked every emotion I have and it was a wonderful world wind, they left me simultaneously so satisfied but a little sad it was over, because I could read about Hollis and Lila forever!

My Cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE this story! I certainly didn’t know going in that I was going to get hit all up in my feelings like I did, but I truly loved everything about this book. Kelsey is getting better and growing as a writer with each book she writes and it’s incredible to see the growth in her work. It is just phenomenal!
🔥🔥🔥🔥-Everything about Hollis Graham is beyond all hot. He is the perfect blend of Alpha AF and swoony to make ladies fall in insta-lust and love with him. Our Lila never stood a chance!! So.Freakin hawt!!🔥🔥
🌪Cliffhanger Warning-🌪🌪This was just awesome, I cried, I laughed, I loved, and I swooned. I loved these characters and felt hurt right along with them. I can’t wait for more from this series. need it like yesterday!!

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Fastball Flirt by Kelsey Cheyenne is the first book of the Boys of Summer series. This was the first book I have read by Kelsey Cheyenne. The writing in itself was okay. I wish the author had done a bit more research.

Let me begin with the plotline. This book follows Hollis, a Major League pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and Lila, a nursing student preparing for graduation. They meet a game. A romance ensues.

Personally, I can't say that I found this book at all believable. I know that as a romance reader I like a bit of escapism. This was not it.

As a registered nurse I can say with certainty Lila would never make it. She graduated nursing school and has a job lined up and wants to pursue a degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner, but she never talks about getting ready for the NCLEX exam. There is not one single nursing school graduate with a job lined up that would not be prepping for that test. Without that test the pending job will be revoked. A quick search regarding nurses and their licensing requirements would have cleared this up.

As a baseball fan the lack of accurate information made the book difficult to read. The tedious description of the baseball game at the beginning of the book felt like filler. It was unnecessary. This isn't a book about baseball. It's about the romance of a baseball player. Also, there are key details about Major League Baseball that are just highly unlikely. American League coaches do not make exceptions to allow their pitchers to bat. It's just not done. The pitcher's mound is not called the "center mound." That implies that there are other mounds. The only other mounds are in the bullpen and they aren't referred to at all. There are other slang names but that isn't one of them. The MLB team in Arizona is the Diamondbacks. This is why most authors who write about professional sports don’t use actual teams. As a lifelong baseball fan and someone who has family in the sport this is extremely frustrating.

All of this also brings me to the point of their first date. He would not be taking a first date to a picnic at Fenway. It's just not going to happen. That's his office. His sanctuary. His sacred ground. This is his dream job. He's not going to let a first date tarnish it.

I'm having trouble feeling the chemistry between Lila and Hollis. She doesn't even come across as awkward which I feel like is the goal. She comes across as uninterested. Maybe if there was more inclusion of their text conversations between the first and second date it would feel more natural.

Lila is whiny & indecisive. She's exactly the girl who won't say what she wants for dinner. She's going to be a pediatric nurse practitioner so she better get better at making decisions and standing up for herself. She's worried Hollis is going to pressure her into sex. Then why did you agree to go?!?! I'm so frustrated with this allegedly grown woman. She didn't think to ask him what her days traveling with him would be like. What his days are like. What his pitching schedule is like. Not very inquisitive or concerned about what she would be doing all day.

I'm banging my head on my Ipad. She's telling him she loves him at 24% in but she's afraid to be in the same room with him. I literally cannot with this this character. And he's falling for her. How?? They haven't even had normal conversations.

I'm really trying to like these two characters but they are like cardboard cut-outs at the pandemic MLB games.

Lila has a plan for her life: graduate from college and become a nurse. Meeting a gorgeous baseball player was not in her plans. Hollis is charming and sweet, but Lila is not about to allow him to get in the way of her dreams. Will she break his heart right as their relationship is getting serious?

Sigh...Lila frustrated the hell out of me! She really needed a baseball to knock some sense into her. You can have a career AND a relationship. It's called working at the relationship, enduring distance if necessary. You don't just ditch someone because things are not going according to your plan. Yikes. But aside from Lila's stupid hard head, I liked this story. It's sweet, sexy, and Hollis especially stood out and made the story for me with his sweet and swoony self. He actually deserved someone better suited to him than Lila, but if he loved her then I guess she gets a pass from me.

Hollis is a success both on and off the field but when he sees Lila at one of his games he knows that she is a gamechanger. One date leads to him inviting her to spend the summer and neither of their lives will ever be the same.

Lila is driven and serious when it comes to her education but there is something about Hollis that makes her want to take a chance on life and love. It was supposed to be a summer to remember but what happens to both their futures if the summer isn’t enough?

Hollis is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy and he knows that he and Lila are meant to be together. Lila is conflicted between her love for Hollis and her plans for the future as they try to find a way for her to have both.

Kelsey Cheyenne writing a baseball rom-com, hold my beer. I couldn't wait to read Fastball Flirt and boy does it deliver.
Hollis Graham is the baseball god with the golden arm. Lila is the girl with a plan. Their insta-attraction, however, causes everyone's plans to be placed in jeopardy. Fastball Flirt is a quick-moving, sizzling sports romance whirlwind filled with laughs, swoon-worthy moments, heartache and redemption.
Kelsey walks this incredible tightrope while flawlessly delivering one of the bigger surprises for the genre that will have you nodding and screaming "Oh Yeah". In Lila, Kelsey delivers yet another member to her every expanding roster of incredible female lead characters. A complex, driven woman who is attempting to navigate a challenging career, obligations, attraction, love, and balance. She is so well developed that by the end you will feel you've met your new best friend.

Fastball Flirt is the first book of Kelsey Cheyenne's that I have read and I was intrigued by the storyline from very early in the book.

The 'normal' formula that I'd expect, as a reader, was missing.

Although insta-love, or as near as possible, is not a new premise, what is new is the ongoing struggle our hero and heroine suffer.

Both Hollis and Lila have their hopes and dreams for the future and despite their new relationship, they still want to fulfil those dreams... But at what expense?

Is the cost just too high?

Travelling along with this goal oriented couple has its challenges but love is at the heart of all the decisions they make. Will they make the right one for each other?

An interesting 'cherry popping' experience from the pen of Kelsey Cheyenne.

Otay so Hollis and Lila have hopes and dreams and they wanna fill them no matter what but at what cost. They are both goal oriented and they want so much more but at what cost to there relationship. There romance is fast moving and so much going on that keeps you on your toes. I do feel like Hollis tried way more than Lila and they kinda bugged me he definitely wasn't your over the Jock. Lila way over thought everything and it kinda made the book lag some for me but I did enjoy the ending.

I did not want to put this book down! This is my new favorite book by Kelsey Cheyenne.

A crazy best friend + adorable meet cute + relatable heroine + sexy ROMANTIC hero = WIN.

I will admit that sports romance is one of my favorite types of romance novels. First, they're fun. Second, the players are always HOT. However, I also love mystery novels because of all of the twists and turns. They keep me on the edge of my seat, flipping the pages like a crazy woman. This book had a good combination of both. There were so many twists that kept me entertained. However, they weren't so wild that it wasn't believable. For me, I loved the back and forth, even if it had me wanting to yell JUST GET IT TOGETHER, LILA! DON'T LET THIS SEXY ROMANTIC MAN GO!

The humor in this book was amazing. There were so many parts that I literally laughed out loud. The humor reminded me of a combination of Helena Hunting & RS Grey, the only other authors I've ever laughed out loud because of their style of writing.

"Would it be so bad if I had a fling with Hollis? I mean, it could be fun. We have an expiration date, keeping things short and sweet. I wouldn't have to worry about feelings and getting attached. A fortnight fling. I should definitely never say that out loud or there's no way I'm getting laid."

One of the best parts of this book? I loved that Lila did not give up her dream for love. Love is important - it's what everyone wants to experience. However, your dreams, what you work towards your whole life, are also important. Even though Hollis is a pro athlete, his job should not have taken precedence over Lila's job and I'm glad she didn't allow it to be that way. However, I loved how she had a plan all along. I loved how it all came together.

Who's ready for Hollis Graham? He has quite a fastball as rookie pitcher for the Boston Red Sox! This was my first time reading Kelsey Cheyenne and it was a good read. Lila and Hollis meet at one of Hollis' games and she agrees to go on a date. I loved their flirtation and banter. Lila overthinks everything and her awkward rambling is endearing and Hollis just thinks she's adorable! They have a bit of a whirlwind romance and fall for each other right away. I would've liked a bit more depth and more conversational dialogue. We get a lot of his thoughts or her thoughts, but I wanted a bit more depth.

Lila surprises even herself with how fast she falls for Hollis, when she had a definitive plan in place with pursuing nursing and grad school is next on the schedule. Although they fall fast for eachother, it's not easy, and having to balance Hollis' grueling practice and game schedule with Lila's studies is more difficult than they imaged. Throw in a long-distance relationship and these two really have to work out if they are right for each other's lifestyles.

The internal dialogue and quirks of Lila's character were at times a bit much and she was so wishy-washy with some of her decisions. I liked the side characters and friendships but was left wanting a bit more from all the characters in general. Hollis is quite swoony and such a sweetie. He was there for Lila all along the way. I enjoyed the last 1/4 of the book the best. Some surprises, drama and scorching romance gave me a well-deserved HEA for these two.

3.5 stars for this Fastball Flirty Romance

Baseball romance at its best! It sure came in quick with the instant attraction, the quick decisions and fast moves! But what makes a romance a great read, is making it through all the obstacles that you can imagine and still come out with a happy ending!

Lila is one of my favorite characters. The girl who is focused on her studies as she weaves her way through nursing school. . . Which I can say first hand is like riding a bike uphill while it's on fire with square tires and starving coyotes chasing you! It's super exciting! 😬

And whats not to like about a rookie hottie without an ego that wants you! Yeah, let's holla for HOLLIS! 😍 The man that knows what he wants and goes for it! His spur of the moment decisions are swoon worthy but remember not all that glitters is gold. . . And Hollis has his down and out moments.

So how does this end with a happy ending? Well you got to read it to find out, because its a story that is as emotional as it cute! It will keep you reading till the end and beg for more from all the characters involved, well except for the parents (you get it when you read it). Not only was this my first baseball romance but my first book by this uber talented author. I am not sure what took me so long to read a book by Kelsey Cheyenne, but I am so happy I did! I will be searching for more of Kelsey's and quite possibly more baseball if Kelsey decides to keep writing them!

'Boys of Summer' is going to be one hell of a good series — well you wouldn't expect anything with different with Kelsey Cheyenne writing it!

'Fastball Flirt' is a brilliantly told story of two young people trying to work out how to be together when one is just starting out in major league baseball and the other is finishing college before training to be a nurse. This is a story of growing up, of making difficult decisions; of having to become your own person before you can give yourself fully to the love of your life.

In normal life it was never to going to be easy add in the pressures of major baseball (traveling most of the year from one end of the country to another — living in hotels, and the constant girls throwing themselves at you) right they would be enough of a problem. And for Lila and Hollis their romance has been a whirlwind — from the moment they meet they have been together it should be a fairy story but we all know that even in fairy stories you have to over come obstacles before you can be together.

And when Hollis has to move just as Lila starts her nurse training tough decisions have to be made one's that could see this fairy tale ending before it begins.

If this saying was written for anybody it was written for Lila and Hollis!
'If you love someone let them go, for if they return, they were yours. And if they don't, they never were.

This is book one in the Boys of Summer series. This was a really good read. Lila and Hollis’s story will take your emotions on a roller coaster ride. In this book you’ll see the progression of their relationship and the trials they go through. How they both mature and grow as a couple and as individuals. This isn’t your normal instant happy ever after. They really have to struggle with their relationship at times. This story is a dual POV, so you’ll bounce between Lila and Hollis. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Hollis and Lila meet at a Red Sox game. Lila was there with her friend and Hollis was pitching for the Red Sox for that game. Their relationship starts off pretty fast. Lila ends up going on the road with him since she had the summer off from school. While traveling and staying together they get to know each other and start a relationship but summer ends and Lila has to head to Philly to start grad school. Can they make their long-distance relationship work?

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"This is only my second book by this author and I have to ask myself why I have not read every single one that Kelsey has released.
Sports romance is my go to genre and I try to get my hands on as many as possible. So it was a no brainer selecting this book to read. I have to admit Lila did my head in for the majority of the book. The only saving grace for her is that she knew that she was over thinking just about everything and sometimes tried to reign herself in.
Hollis was my favorite character in this book. He was a real gentleman but knew that he wanted Lila and chased her right from the start.
Super romantic with plenty of ups and downs to keep me second guessing what was going to happen next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book." ~Sharon

Hollis, I loved. He tried and tried and tried and I just loved him for it. And to top it all off he wasn't the typical "jock" which made me love him more. Lila! OMG I had moments of just wanting to cause her bodily harm because she just wouldn't stop thinking...always thinking. But I am so glad after all that thinking she FINALLY came to the correct conclusion. ~Jen

This was my first time reading Kelsey Cheyenne and thought it was a pretty good read. ⚾️ Lila and Hollis have a great cat-mouse flirtation and Lila’s awkward rambling is crazy cute. The first part of their story is a whirlwind romance that they have good chemistry but I wanted more depth.

When we meet Lila she is a girl with a clear vision of her foreseeable future, grad school. While at a baseball game with her bestie, she has an instant attraction with one of the star pitchers, Hollis. After a couple of dates, she agrees to join Hollis on the road for the summer for a fun fling, which turns into more.

As we got into the second half of the book, their path to a HEA is not a straight road. Summer ending and the beginning of their long-distance relationship when Lila starts grad school. They struggle to find their balance. I appreciated that Cheyenne did not let Lila lose her dream and made hard decisions, even some that went against her heart. I found myself enjoying the second half of the book more; it had more depth and was more realistic to a young couple balancing their relationship with the beings of their careers.

Hollis is a pro pitcher for Boston Red socks Baseball team, He notices Lila in the crowd and instantly felt something. He got her attention went on a date and quickly she ended up going on the road with him to his away games. Lila is a self proclaimed control freak, straight A's and not a no strings attached kinda girl but she thinks she could let loose have fun and have a summer fling. She thinks going off to grad school after the summer will make things easier for her to remember its only a summer fling.

Hollis is not like most players not only player on the field type of guy. hes sweet, sexy and Lila had no idea how much her original plans were about to change. His impulsive decisions keep changing the game.
Even though things happened quickly i still got the slow burn for the steamy steams. (That storm scene tho)

This is my first time reading a story from Kelsey Cheyenne i enjoyed reading this book it kept a smile on my face and even made me Laugh out Loud.

Hollis Graham is that amazing pitcher with the golden arm, and he's not hard on the eyes either. He sees a girl in the stands named Lila, who he asks out, so they start out on a summer journey filled with heat, and not just from the sun. They are complete opposites since she's totally my spirit animal with her neurotic behavior that really had me laughing. Unfortunately they have an expiration date since Lila has her dreams that she's not giving up for anyone. It's so refreshing to see a heroine who is determined to not let anything in her way of her dreams. so I fell harder for her. Now that's not to say that Hollis wasn't amazing because he was, and I was falling for him so hard that I was yelling at Lila to not let him go. Fastball Flirt was just an amazing read with humor, flirty interactions, heat, baseball & even some twists so utterly perfect. If you want to know how it all plays out, you'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Lila is a college senior, headed for grad school soon. Hollis is a rookie pitcher for Bosox. She catches his eye at a game, and he's a goner for her right away. When her roommate situation changes for the summer, she ends up traveling with him to games and staying at his apartment until she has to move to Philly This book is an emotional roller coaster. Hollis is just the best - a true gentleman, faithful, devoted, loving, and patient. Lila is frustrating, because Hollis doesn't fit into her plan, and she overthinks everything. Honestly, sometimes you need to stop thinking and consider changing the plan. They got in deep so soon in their relationship that it seemed like they would burn out. This is the first book of a promising new series. It's also my first book from this author, and won't be the last - I couldn't put it down once I started. And I'm looking forward to more - more in the series and more from the author.

In a totally uncharacteristic move, Lila decides to have fun for the last summer before she begins grad school by going on the road with the Red Sox's rookie star pitcher - Hollis Graham. But fun morphs into serious feelings much too soon, and it's not long before Lila's wondering if their relationship is moving way too quickly - like a fastball.

While I found myself wanting to give Lila a stern talking to several times, I loved Hollis. He was the epitome of sweet, caring & sexy all at once. He realised that Lila was outside of her comfort zone, and while he pushed sometimes, he never made her feel pressured to do anything she didn't want. I also loved that Lila chose to make herself happy so that she could be 100% sure about her "plan". I admired that about her.

I truly enjoyed this book. It's a great series starter. I look forward to more great stories from the series.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

She did not plan for him. Lila attends a baseball game and is smitten by the teams pitcher. Thinking she could flirt her way into some fun was a little naïve considering his reputation on and off the diamond. Lila has a life plan and sticking around town or even following a major league ball player around like some groupie is not on that list.
Hollis has a plan to, and it does not involve settling down with one woman, his arm and the heat it brings on the diamond is his only stable in his life. Until he looks up and that game changing view sends their live in directions they never planned for. Steamy encounters, light and flirtation banter, laugh out loud and smack someone in the head drama to boot. Watch out readers this story you never saw coming like the fast ball Hollis threw to stardom. But wait there is no end :(

This story was a will they won’t they rollercoaster. Lila and Hollis meet in such an amazing way. He is a pitcher for the Red Sox and she is an attendance at the game. Their eyes meet and it is instant swoon for the both of them. They decide on a summer fling of fun. Lila’s life is so scheduled and predictable, she decides she needs some fun. Hollis is a rookie pitcher for the Red Sox and is a simple guy, but is so drawn to Lila in the best way possible. Their summer Is one of the best of both their lives, but with their busy schedules and intense career goals, they worry the feelings they have can only be that of a fling.

If you love a good, will they won’t they get together with an awesome dose of sports romance folded into the mix then you will love this book. Kelsey Cheyenne is an amazing writer. Her swoon-worthy characters and writing will have you wanting so much more!

Fastball Flirt is the first novel I have read by Kelsey Cheyenne and I am an instant fan. I am obsessed with baseball so loved when it was the backdrop for this story. However, this is first and foremost a love story, and a wonderful one at that. Hollis and Lila are the quintessential opposites attract story. Hollis, a rookie pitcher, is easy going, patient and ridiculously romantic. Lila, a graduate nursing student is practical, pragmatic and easily anxiety-ridden. I love Lila because she is just so REAL. She is a product of her upbringing but even without that, she is exactly what a woman dating a pro baseball player when she has a set life plan of her own would be like. And Hollis is the perfect book boyfriend. The chemistry between the two is smoking, and the banter is entertaining. All in all, Kelsey Cheyenne hit this one out of the park.

Lila is the girl with all the plans. Hollis is the star baseball pitcher. When they meet, they have an instant attraction to one another. This goes and messes up all the plans Lila had. She wants to just have a fun and carefree summer, falling in love is not on the list.

Oh my gosh, I loved this book so much! I loved Lila and Hollis. Lila was such a real character, I felt like I could truly connect with her. And Hollis was a perfect book boyfriend! Their romance moves fast, but it will keep you on your toes. The chemistry between the two was hot, and the banter was hilarious. I really enjoyed every minute of this book! This was my first book by Kelsey Cheyenne, but it certainly won’t be my last. If you’re looking for a good sports romance, I highly recommend this one!

Thank you Kelsey Cheyenne for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is only my second book by this author and I have to ask myself why I have not read every single one that Kelsey has released.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This story is sure to put you on a rollercoaster of events and emotions. Lila and Hollis are attracted to each other from the moment they meet and their relationship moves fast with many ups and downs. Things for Lila start as a summer fling when Hollis invites her to travel with him for the rest of the season but Hollis knew he wanted more. It took much patience and time being together for Lila to finally admit she wants more as well.
This is an amazing Sports Romance will many twists and turns, happy moments and heartbreak. Kelsey Cheyenne is an amazing author and has a special talent with words. I am looking forward to the next story in this series!

I have three words for you, Hollis Freaking Graham!!

What a dreamboat this man is! He is the star pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and in an instant, he’s falling all over himself for the pretty girl in the stands. Lila knows she’s crazy taking a date with a professional baseball player, but this is her last summer before grad school and she’s going to take some risks.

A summer traveling across the country, a long-distance relationship, and two headstrong, career-driven individuals make for one wild ride. Cheyenne gives you romance, lust, some twists and turns, but does it all end with love? You will have to read this brand-new novel for the ever quirky and fun Kelsey Cheyenne to find out! She won’t let you down!

I was so excited to read Fastball Flirt by Kelsey Cheyenne I really enjoyed her writing. The guys are always swoonworthy. Lemme tell you Hollis did not disappoint. As a matter of fact in so butthurt that he doesn't exist. And that can't run away with him. I liked Lila enough but like whatever Hollis was everything for me.

Could've been that Lila was so wishy-washy and kinda crazy for not seeing what was in front of her face. But I mean if Hollis liked her I guess she's alright. Hahaha.

While they moved pretty fast I don't think this was an instalove story or even instalust (but maybe closer to that). I checked Amazon and the book is over 500 pages!? I didn't feel like that I'm pretty sure either I was drunk or Amazon was hahaha.
