Just a Phone Call

That’s all it took to put Layla in the path of rock star and lead vocalist for the famous rock band Knight Attack, Jax. He was randomly dialing numbers and hit upon Layla and that was the beginning of their friendship for the next five years. Over that time Layla also “met” Jax’s brothers who were all a part of the band as well. Their bond also grew as well.

Five years later they finally meet and neither has said anything of the growing feelings they had developed over that time. They had built great ground work for a possible relationship. Everyone had seen it coming but Jax and Layla. Take a ride on the tour bus and see if these two will be able to go beyond phone calls and friendships.

Wow I really enjoyed this book by Author MLJ Quigg .
I wasn't really a fan of the rock star genre but this author has changed my mind on that subject .

Jax
is the lead singer in his family's band " Knight Attack" they are world famous and with that comes all the pressure's of the music industry. Not wanting to let his family down Jax keeps his feelings to himself until one night after more then a few beers he picks a random phone number and talks to the person who answers.

Layla.

Who knew that answering her phone in the early hours one night would change her life irrevocably. One random phone call from a man claiming he was Jax Knight from the world famous rock band Knight Attack she thought he was either drunk or delusional or someone was playing a joke on her . When he proves to her he is in fact the Jax from Knight Attack the very next day it explodes into a friendship that spans five years countless calls and texts and yet they are still yet to meet in person . I loved this story and the lead up to when they finally get to meet in person to the love affair that is so strong and passionate and the way Jax treats Layla is something every girl only dreams about. There are appearances from characters in this authors previous books and what would a book like this be without a crazed stalker in the mix . I look forward to reading more in this series I really enjoyed this story line and author MLJ QUIGG writing style. Will definitely be buying this one in paperback.

I enjoyed Jax and Layla’s story they were friends for years and I felt like those years built a solid foundation for the moment they would meet in person because their chemistry was undeniable the moment they were in the same room together.

This took a few chapters to get fully immersed in the story but once their story began and everything began to come together I fell in love with Jax and Layla. I liked that each of them knew how they felt they each had their own fears but neither were willing to let those stop them from diving in head first to explore their feelings. There was drama but the two of them were a solid partnership that made my heart happy.

Along with falling in love with Jax and Layla I fell in love with the entire Knight family. The dynamic of the siblings and the closeness they had while also all being involved in some capacity with the band was an added bonus to this rock star romance.

It is Rock'n'Roll, it is a wild ride. This author has written another story that I can not rave about enough. There is always so much depth in this authors books and it gives the feel of being part of the book as you can clearly imagine all of the storyline in detail. You get to know all the charecters and get to love them and wish to read more.

Layla is a sweet beautiful lady who picked up an unknown caller on her phone and life was never the same. Jax was a rocker who needed some help and guidance and randomn numbers changed his life. Family is everything.

Honest to goodness I can't wait to get my little girly hands on the next book in this series. I would absolutely recommend this book and author to anyone who loves an amazing love story. I honestly hope you love this book as much as I have. Happy Reading ♡

This is book one in the Knight Attack series. This was a road trip read for me and I truly enjoyed it! Jax is the singer in a band he has with his brothers. One night he randomly called Layla and over a 5 year span they became friends. When they finally met it was instant chemistry. They knew how they felt about each other even before they met. This was a hot sexy quick read! I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series.

Jax picks a random number and dials, never expecting an answer let alone Layla.
Layla thinks she's been set up after all why would Jax from Knight Attack call her.
This book has it all, I was hooked from start to finish. I know its going to be a fantastic series.
The characters are all amazing and will have you hooked and wanting more.
I definitely recommend reading this book.

This was my first trip into the world of MLJ Quig, and I wish I would have read her other books before. Jax is the beginning of a new series, but there are still players from her other books in this one. She spends a lot of time giving mini back stories so you know how they all connect, but it just left me confused. There are a lot of characters but even with that I did like the story of Layla and Jax.

It’s a true rock star on tour romance, with plenty of tour bus steam. And lots of family dramas. If you get a chance check it out!

Great book. Sex scenes are fantastic. But there is a plot also. There is love and romance and a little drama all mixed in.

3.5 ⭐️

I was so looking forward to reading Jax! I love rock star romance. This seemed like it would hit the mark for it. The storyline is actually really good, but the delivery of it is a little iffy.

The way the two main characters, Jax and Layla, hit it off was so great, I loved it. Jax, after a night of drinking and close to hitting depression, dials a random number on his cell, it happens to be Layla’s number. They start chatting and become best friends. That was really cute, I couldn’t wait to see where it would go. And OMG it took them five years after that to meet in person. FIVE. YEARS. They talked on the phone every single day, their families knew about them, his family loved her, her family loved him, blah blah blah. FIVE. YEARS. Because they were busy and didn’t have time 😶 We were at the 33% mark when they finally saw each other in person, and they continued from there, all in love like the previous five years had been a normal love relationship. It didn’t really make sense. You don’t actually see a progression of their relationship, not even over the phone because the first part of the book until they meet is mostly about their individual lives rather than their relationship. You don’t see them growing throughout the book, there’s not a whole lot of depth to them. There is also a big life happening event for them which gets only an honorable mention, totally glossed over.

Another thing would be that there are so many other characters introduced, and so much going on with others, it took away from Jax and Layla’s story. I would’ve saved a bunch of that stuff for future books (because I’m assuming the other band members will get their own stories). There was so much information on others, at some point I actually stopped reading to go check if I should’ve read any previous books by this author in order to understand what was happening in this one.

All in all, the story has good bones, but it felt a little like it was a rough draft, needed some work to develop, and that was a little disappointing 🙁

A rockstar romance unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

What a great story, I loved the way it was told, the beginning was unexpected, but perfect, this is a fantastic start to the new series.

Rockstar Jax Knight from the hottest band in Australia right now, Knight Attack needs help, so one night he dials a bunch of random numbers until someone answers, that someone just happens to be Layla, just an ordinary girl from thousands of miles away. The pair strike up an instant but unlikely friendship, and stay in touch through a number of years. Finally finished with school, and now a business owner, Layla gets an unexpected call one night from Jax’s sister who begs her for a favour, come on tour and take on half her workload, working up close and personal with the band. Layla should jump at the chance, but she’s hesitant. Five years have passed and their friendship is still strong, but Layla harbours a crush on Jax, in fact she may already love him, but they’ve never actually met face to face.

From the first moment Jax hears Layla’s voice, no other women exist for him. Though circumstances have kept them apart, Jax knows Layla is his future, if only they could get on the same continent, let alone in the same room, he knows he can change their friendship into more. When his sister says she’s found a replacement to do half her work, Jax isn’t expecting the new girl to be the woman of his dreams, but as the saying goes, the course of love doesn’t run smooth, and as their new relationship is beginning, someone else is waiting to get their hands on Jax.

I absolutely adored everything about this book, the storyline, the characters, the romance, everything, a truly great read from a new to me author. I will definitely be looking out for the next book in the series.

*3.5 stars

I adore rock star romances so I jumped at the chance to review this book, and while i did like a majority of the book, there was just so much going on that it took away from the love of our main characters.

So here we have Jax who is the lead singer of his famous band, Knight Attack. He has a lot of personal struggles, and the rock and roll life isn't all that he hoped it would be. So on a night where his depression almost takes a deep turn, he dials a random number and strikes up conversation with the lovely Layla. These two have such a meet cute, that I was full on grinning and swooning so hard. These guys talk and fall for each other for FIVE YEARS without ever seeing each other face to face. They are each other's person and never go a day without talking, and when they do actually meet in person for the first time, they act as if those five years were a part of their relationship and just pick off from there.

However, this is where the book started to lose me. These two didn't grow together as individuals, and definitely didn't feel as a couple. They just stay the same. Then there's this bigger story going on as well that gets completely looked over.. Plus with all the other characters and the overload of information that through in, it was just too much at once. In fact I felt like I missing some vital information about the series, but this is the first book.. so again, maybe it was just me, but it was just too much.

I did really love the beginning though, and their ending was swoon worthy as well. I just don't know if I'll continue with the series.

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**

It's been a while since I had a book from this author to read and I was curious to see what was in store for us.
Her last book caught my attention and o was having super high expectations.
MLJ Quigg has raw writing, filled with hotness and some mystery.
Let's just see.
Jax is her latest release and it's the first book from the Knight Attack series.
This new book explores the lives of Jax and Layla.
Jax is the lead singer for the Knight Attack. He's well known by every fan but that can be a curse.
Layla lost it all because of a man and needed to relocate to a new town to start over. She's a live-in nanny a job that she loves. She loves the kids, not the parents. Lol
One night when she answers the phone...
It was an amazing book, and I really enjoyed it.
Amazing plot, well written, engaging, and hot.
Oh boy. So hot.
The story started slowly and quickly it evolved.
I saw myself glued to my kindle and reading non-stop.
Chapter after chapter I saw the need to now more getting bigger.
It was a sweet story with some hotness into the mix.
The characters worked perfectly with each other and I wanted more.
And now that it's over, I really want more from the rest of the band as well as from these two.
Great book MLJ Quigg. Wonderful book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I was given the ARC for a review. I Loved this book, it was such an easy book to read. Don't get me wrong, there were some turns in there I was not expecting. The ending was of course amazing, but so was the rest of the book.

Jax, the tortured rock artist doesn't like where his career is going and is to worried to cause waves by telling his family. One night he gets drunk and dials random numbers. Layla answers and that's when their friendship was formed. Knight Attack is a wonderful family filled with love and support. I am so happy for how much they love and support each other. They even have matching tattoos of the family emblem. I love how MLJ Quigg set up the book. It starts in the POV of the interviewer and then moves between Jax and Layla, they are so cute and so in love. They are telling the interviewer how their relationship started.

This had such great main characters as well as supporting characters. I hope she writes a story for each of the knight family members. (I heard MLJ is going to write more stories about Knight Attack 😄) The Sharp Vandals were their opening band for their world tour. They were so awesome after a certain someone was rid of. Things were just going so well for the characters.

This was a really great read, I highly recommend.

Jax, the first book in the Night Attack series is a sweet romance. But this MLJ Quigg had me wanting more.

The characters and the storyline are entertaining. Jax's character fully comes to life, with a multi-layered past. Best of all though is the way he first dials up a random number. It's a clever concept and well done.

I enjoy the writing overall. It definitely drew me in, with a clever interview that reveals the past. I did struggle however with the barrage of information at times. There were so many people, and so much information just tossed out in a quick manner. And this happened several times. I kept assuming I had missed previous books, but looking at the author's other books, I don't think that's the case. I definitely would have preferred things to be introduced in a better manner.

Overall, Jax is charming and romantic, with a little insanity thrown in. The author skims over the good stuff and the bad stuff, leaving the reader with the bare minimum. But I still enjoyed it.

Knight Attack is set to be a really good Rock Band Romance Series.

Jax is a fast pace easy read story — this books dangles enough of a carrot with snippets about the other members of the group to ensure that you keep coming back for more. I loved that the story starts at the end if that makes sense — with a blogger about to interview Jax and Layla.

For 5 years Jax the lead singer of Knight Attack and Layla have spoken over the phone after by accident and a lot of dialling of random numbers Jax connected with Layla. From that night on they have become fast friends has had the rest of the band. But now after all these years the two are finally going to meet. Will when meeting face to face the feelings that have been building over the years be something that they have just conjured up in their heads or it will it be as consuming as they think. But you can't be a world famous rock band without some drama but when the threat becomes really will they lose each other before they have had a chance.

Jax was a delightful surprise. It was not your typical rockstar romance, although it kind of began that way. Most rockstar romances have at least one broody handsome fellow or lovely girl carrying a deep dark secret pain that makes their music all the better. Jax was not like that. He was reasonably level-headed and surrounded by a family that loved him and worked with him. He came upon Layla via serendipity, and that began a long-distance friendship that blossomed into love. I really liked the lack of angst; these two KNEW each other. This was NOT instalove, or instalust this was two people who truly got to know each other's insides. Throw in a bit of suspense for excitement and a bit of heroism to swoon over too, and you have a delightful confection of a rockstar romance. Let's get on with the rest of the Knight Attack crew. Hmmm, I think I need to learn a bit more about Henderson security.

Is life all about coincidences? Jax is having a hard time dealing with the turn his career is taking. He takes a chance and dials a random number. He hopes that the person on the other line will just listen and maybe he will figure out what to do.

Layla has been having a tough time. Enable to escape the harsh criticisms and rumors she comes to the states. While working as a nanny she gets a random phone. There is something intriguing about the person on the other line.

Years go by with Jax and Layla staying "phone" buddies. The question is will the feelings still be the same once they meet in person.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author. I thought the author had an interesting idea about a chance encounter. There are some twist and turns through out the book. Looking see what book 2 is all about.

Have you ever randomly dialed a stranger and talked to them?!  I have, and Jax did as well when he dialed Layla one night, and it was the start of a very close friendship.  Fast forward 5 years, and they finally come face to face, so that friendship quickly turns into a relationship but there are complications since he's, you know, famous.  There are bumps in the road to a possible happily ever after, as said fame definitely adds in some craziness.  Jax was a story that I truly enjoyed, but it was a slow start in my opinion, but once it hit its stride, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.  Can these two people who fate brought together get past everything for a bright future together?!  Hit those one click buttons to find out!  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is a rock star story told a different way and I really enjoyed that new take. It all starts with an interview that takes you back to a phone call that spawns a friendship that turns to love. As always with a new author it took me a while to get used to their writing style and the story but it was easy to get lost in Jax and Layla. I enjoyed finding out how it all began and all the other characters in the book. It was refreshing to read a couple who knew how they felt about each other but were willing to take their time and put in the hard work and shocker theey actually talk to each other. You will fall in love with all of the Knight family, their closeness and bond makes me want to read about all of them.

This is the 1st n a new series and is Jax and Layla’s story. Jax is the singer in a band with his brothers, and a random phone call connects with Layla who picks up an unknown number on her phone, which over the span of 5-years a solid friendship develops. When they meet in person the chemistry between them is undeniable. This is a well written story with great family dynamics and has drama which leads to a steamy and captivating tale. This story has an intricate and in-depth plot which had me intrigued and hooked throughout. I look forward to reading more in this series which I recommend for all.

This story is AMAZING! It is a Rockstar romance but it also has its own twist. How can you love someone you have never met in person? This story proves that it is possible. The characters in this story are all amazing and it was such a breath of fresh air from the normal Rockstar romance novels that are on the market today. I am very excited to read more from MLJ Quigg in the future and I can not wait to read more about the rest of the band, hopefully!

Jax by MLJ Quigg is a fantastic contemporary Rock Star Romance. I love the way the characters meet and the evolution of their connection... hot and yet sweet... surprise friends who met randomly over telephone and yet form a deep friendship then fsll 8n love. The secondary characters were also fun to get to know and I do hope we hear more from this world soon.

I was a little hesitant to read a book about rockstars but when I saw it was this author I was all over it!! Overall Jax is a thrilling, charming, romantic and exciting. He has a multi layered past that he is trying to sort through. Over the past five years Jax and Layla have just talked phone but never met in person because Jax drunk dialed a random number seeking something. They quickly struck up a friendship but when the reality of meeting face-to-face comes to ahead will fantasy live up to reality?

New Favorite!

This is my favorite book from MLJ Quigg. I enjoyed this book more as it was not as disjointed as past stories. This story had a wonderful flow to it that made for a great read.
Only negative: the length. The story was so short. I read it in KU but don't plan to buy as the length doesn't merit a price of 2.99

This was a quick and enjoyable read. I liked all the characters but I found some things repetitive and would have liked a more detailed story.

While Jax and Layla had known each other for five years, but still hadn't met, I found when they professed their love for each other it happened a little fast.

Overall, good characters and an enjoyable storyline.

Pretty cool story. I like how it was set up as an interview. I loved the family and adored Jax. Layla was great.

The cover model has a sinister look that doesn't fit the story at all. I think it would be better changed out, in my opinion.
September 1, 2020
I received an ARC of Jax in exchange for an honest review. Jax and Layla's story was such a cool concept, and I truly enjoyed how unique their journey began. From the first meeting until the end. Jax is a friends to lovers rockstar romance, and if you're familiar with me you know I'm a total sucker for rockstar romances. Overall, Jax was a good book, but I wasn't able to get sucked as deeply into the story as I would have liked. The character's thoughts and emotions are mentioned, but not delved deeply enough for my tastes. Some of the phrasing was a little too passive instead of active.

Jax starts off with our heroine, Layla, answering a call from a random number. It turns out to be Jax Knight from the band Knight Attack. Jax is in a bad place professionally and just hits some numbers on the phone. Fate connects him to Layla. Luckily, he finds a welcoming ear in Layla, and thus begins their friendship.

Fast forward five years down the line. Jax and Layla are the best of friends, and they have even gotten close to each other's friends and families. Unbeknownst to each other they have fallen in love with each other and wish they could be more than friends. However, they still have not yet met face to face. Time hasn't been kind to them, and every time they have planned to meet in person something has gone wrong and prevented them from meeting.

Finally, after an almost tragedy, the stars align and Jax's sister pulls some strings and orchestrates their meeting. Once they meet they hit the ground running. Their relationship rapidly graduates from friends to lovers. They both know what they want and go for it. Of course there's always something trying to get in the way. Jax and Layla are able to get through each and every hurdle to find their happily ever after.
