Bad Saint: All The Pretty Things Trilogy Volume 1 Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 951 ratings

I was kidnapped on my honeymoon by three masked men.

Blindfolded.
Bound.
Destination unknown.

I was told to stay silent and abide by their rules. But they didn’t realize I wasn’t a victim…not anymore.

The open sea was my backdrop for nine torturous days. During that time, glimmers of my fate were revealed by a man with the mysterious chartreuse-colored eyes. He should have scared me, but he didn’t.

He intrigued me. And I intrigued him.

He punished me when I didn’t listen, which was every single day. But beneath his cruelty, I sensed he was guarding a grave secret.

I was sold.
And in a game of poker, no less.

My buyer? A Russian mobster who likes to collect pretty things. Now that I know the truth, I only have one choice.

Sink or swim.

And when one fateful night presents me the opportunity, I take it. I just never anticipated my actions would leave me shipwrecked with my kidnapper.

He needs me alive. I want him dead.

But as days turn into weeks, one thing becomes clear—I should hate him…but I don’t.

My name is Willow.
His name is Saint.

Ironic, isn’t it? He bears a name that denotes nothing but holiness yet delivers nothing but hell. However, if this is hell on earth…God, save my soul.

**BAD SAINT is a DARK ROMANCE containing mature themes that might make some readers uncomfortable. It includes: kidnapping, captivity, strong violence, mild language, and some dark and disturbing scenes.
This twisted tale is not intended for the fainthearted. So, if you’re game…welcome to the madness.

"Sinful and compelling, Bad Saint takes you on a darkly romantic, emotionally tense ride that will leave you aching for more” - New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy

"Shipwrecked on a deserted island with a beautiful, tortured villain? Sign me up!" - K.A. Tucker, USA Today Bestselling Author of Ten Tiny Breaths

“Bad Saint is a dark and emotional romance that you are sure to love." NYT & USA Bestselling Author - Kylie Scott

4.5 ANGEL AND SAINT STARS
We all know Monica James can write contemporary and new adult romance, but she took a u-turn with Bad Saint. When I heard her next book was going to be somewhat "dark", I was really intrigued. Monica has a way to melt my insides with all her hero.  Even though Saint is Willows's captor, you fall for him. Stockholm syndrome here I come. (willingly) Those little snippet into Saints POV at the beginning of each chapter was not enough for me. I wanted so much more, but I think it was executed perfectly. You're given just a little morsel of goodness but not all of it. I felt like a kid in a candy store with only enough money for one piece of candy. You could feel it and taste it. All that goodness is right at your fingertips but you only get a taste and that's it. Oh how cruel Monica was to dangle that piece of candy right in front of our faces knowing we would want more. The undeniable connection between Willow and Saint was frustrating at times because they didn't give in to that attraction. They didn't let it take it's course. Walls were erected and feelings were pushed away. Nothing about the book seemed forced. Everything flowed seamlessly.  Somehow I already knew this would end in a cliffhanger but I was SO excited to read this that I didn't care to be left hanging. BUT only because July is right around the corner. Hehehe. I'm SO glad I don't have to wait for months and months to continue Willow and Saint's story. I can't wait to see where this journey takes them.

This book will turn you inside out and then gut you with its ending. It is worth every emotion, tear and feeling because the story of Saint and Willow is a crazy, suspenseful and emotion filled tale of having to do wrong to achieve right. Add in angst, deception and suspense and you have the masterpiece that is Bad Saint.

Ugh. I am completely wrecked over Saint and Willow. Wow. I need to catch my breath after finishing that. What starts as something tragic, ends up still being tragic. Willow blew me away by how strong and resilient she is. The author has created this romance that sucks you in and I am wrecked over the ending. It has the plot, characters, suspense, deception and emotion all wrapped up in one amazing book that will leave you reeling and begging for more. I felt emotionally invested in these characters and could feel their emotions and struggles, all because the authors amazing words. I finished this book in a matter of hours once I started. A must read for 2019 that will make you come back for more over and over again.

Willow and Saint..... where do I start? Their story is a tale that will put you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Saint is made to do something, Willow is at the end of that something. They are forced together with so many twists and turns, they are shipwrecked. I loved the emotion and strength Willow has. I love how you see glimpses of Saint as a man in his past. I hated the bad guys and gals. It wrecked me what willow had gone through, but I’m excited to see what the future holds with this strong, kick butt woman and this man named Saint who I’m sure will be something to behold in the next book.

"I'm not fearful for my life when I'm with him. I'm fearful for my soul. I hate myself because each time he's near, I crave more-more of his voice, his touches, more of him."

Bad Saint is a captivating, thrilling and fast read. I binge read this book in one sitting! I really liked the way that the story was told. Bad Saint is told as a series of days from the POV of the FMC, Willow. We start the story on night one of her honeymoon and the subsequent events are best summarized by the saying "well that escalated quickly". Willow is a character full of opposing traits. She hates Saint and yet loves him at the same time. She is naive in some ways but strong in others. Just when I thought I had a grasp on her she did something unexpected. Saint was a great bad guy. He is the perfect mix of tortured soul, redeemable a*hole, tormentor and protector. We only get his POV through very small snippets at the beginning of each chapter. Those definitely helped me understand his motivations and not hate him.

This story does end in a cliffhanger. It also has some very dark scenes, so make sure you read the blurb for possible triggers. Explicit triggers will be placed below the image at the end of this review. Overall I enjoyed this story and look forward to continuing the series. Willow and Saint have great chemistry and banter. I also like that this is a slow burn romance with elements of suspense mixed in.

This book turned out to be so damn good and I'm all set to read the second, only to find out the 3rd doesn't come out until September! Rarely do I feel this way, but this series (so far) has been like getting someone hooked on crack!!!

It's an awesome dark read and partially dark romance and it was a delight to stumble upon it. It all revolves around Willow, a 25 year old model from LA who, after a whirlwind 6 week courtship, marries the man of her dreams and goes on honeymoon to a private greek island. Literally upon their arrival, she is kidnapped by 3 masked men who rough up her husband, abduct her and set out to sea with her. All in masks and all speaking Russian. Willow comes to realise pretty quickly that not only has she been kidnapped but she's been targeted for sex trafficking to one of the most powerful crime lords in Russia but first her 3 captors have to get her there by sea first. One would think it would get boring with the whole book taking place on a yacht but the author slowly ramps up the tension and the action as she goes along until you're completely sucked in. Willow's main nemesis is Saint, the only 1 of the 3 who turns out to be an American, although fluent in Russian and definitely part of the whole ring. His constant pressure and tactics to break her and make her submit become a battle of wills. Because Willow is a kick ass heroine. This chick just refuses to go down without a fight, absolutely refuses. And so the push and pull between Saint and Willow keeps ratcheting up in tension until something's got to give.

Saint is absolutely maddening. You hate him, then you soften, then you hate him even more, then you kind of like him and it's an endless merry-go-round. But so much is not what it seems, so much.

This book is absolutely scrumptious to go into blind. But Holy Hell, where has this author been hiding???? If you're not affected by too many triggers and you like a little bit of mystery and suspense with your dark read then this is an awesome book to read. Loved it! So all the pretty stars in the night sky to this one!*****

I loved this book, a very promising first book of this series. Looking forward to read book 2 and book 3. I like it when the girl is strong and stubborn, but not stupid...that’s different for some men in this story...some of them are stupid *ssholes 😉 I also fell in love with Harriet Pot Pie and I’m wondering if she will be make an appearance in book 2. I recommend this book and gave it 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, twisted forbidden romance - a must read!
Reviewed in Germany on June 12, 2019
Bad Saint is the first installment in the promising All The Pretty Things Trilogy by Monica James. It's a dark, twisted forbidden romance with a badass heroine and a controversial hero that left me completely breathless and shamelessly begging for more. This book contains mature themes and some disturbing scenes that might make certain readers uncomfortable. Monica didn't mince or romanticize some aspects of this story and I'm grateful for that to be honest since this is not an "all hearts and flowers" kind of book and certainly not a conventional love story.

Willow Shaw didn't have an easy childhood. Life has thrown some major curveballs her way. But despite all the bad and tragic things that happend to her she still remained positive and never gave up. This woman is a fighter and I truly admired her for her strength and perseverance. When she gets kidnapped on her honeymoon in Greece by three masked, brutal men in order to be brought to her master - a Russian mobster - as his new plaything she tries to keep her cool and find a way out of this desperate situation. They tell her to be obedient und to follow their rules but little do they know that Willow is not a victim and an easy pushover. One of her kidnappers seems to be different then the others. He shows glimpses of humanity underneath his cruel demeanor. His name is ironically Saint, although he is definitely more an unforgivable sinner than a holy creature. Willow is equally fascinated and irritated by this gorgeous and mysterious man who seems to be keeping a huge secret. He punishes her when she doesn't listen and rewards her for her good behavior. He needs her alive and she wants him dead. Willow should hate him but she doesn't. And as days turn into weeks she is asking herself if Saint is actually her captor or rather her savior?

Kuddos to Monica for creating such multi-layered and well-developed characters. I adored Willow and think that she is one of the strongest female leads I've ever read about. This woman endured so much but she never allowed anybody to break her - not even Saint. And that was actually what gained her his respect and admiration. There is so much more to Saint than meets the eye. He was a walking conundrum in the beginning but with every layer of his personality revealed I fell more for this troubled and broken man. There is still kindness and compassion inside his heart which makes him the definition of an antihero.

Bad Saint is a highly entertaining and intriguing mix of a mobster and Island romance with a lot of suspense and sexiness thrown into it. I was glued to my kindle while devouring this fantastic story because I simply couldn't get enough of the pent-up need and sizzling chemistry between Willow and Saint. My mind was spinning with possible theories about who is playing who and why and how the story is going to continue. This book ends on a huge heartstopping cliffhanger and leaves us with open questions that are going to be answered in the following installments. I can't wait to see what Monica will come up with. I'm giving this amazing must-read 5 shiny stars!!!

It's not a secret anymore, I LOVE Monica's books. I was really looking forward to reading this one because this is her first Dark Romance, and let me tell you I wasn't disappointed at all!!
This book has everything to make you crave for more. It's intense, it makes you feel so many emotions (fear, angst, love, passion...), the dark scenes are very well written, and it's highly addictive!
You'll fall in love with Saint (even if you don't want to) and, as usual with Monica, be prepared to expect the unexpected!

This book! This book is amazing! I am utterly hooked on Saint and his angel.

This book is the first in a trilogy by Monica James. It’s the first book of hers that I’ve read and I’m blown away. It’s a mature, detailed read, full of suspense and drama and angst and jeopardy.

Saint is a complex character. You never know whether he’s a good man gone bad, or a bad man trying to be good. He’s so conflicted throughout the book.

Willow, his angel, initially comes over as naïve and innocent, but soon channels her feisty, independent self and becomes quite the kick ass heroine.

The trials and tribulations these characters go through will make your head spin, but remember, this is only part one. Whatever else does the author have in store for them?? I can’t even begin to guess, but I’m sticking around for the whole, unapologetic, wild ride that this series promises to be.

"Bad Saint" is the first Dark Romance that author Monica James wrote. What a book!
I have never read a Dark Romance in my reading life. She nailed it so badly in this book.
When you start Saint and Willow story you can't stop reading it. The chemistry between them is so hot but at the same time wrong because Saint is his kidnapper.

When I started this book I was so afraid of what would be happening during the story, because Dark Romance is not easy to read depends on what the author writes, but Monica made "Dark Romance" a little dark but with a beautiful romantic story. She doesn't forget her line for the romance and that makes this first book an amazing Dark Romance.

The characters for me have a great spirit. Willow is what a woman needs to be when hell is in her life. She is a strong woman and belive this is a nightmare challenging her life. She tries every single night a way to escape from that hell. She will not give up until she has her freedom. She falls in love for an evil person.
Saint is hot, sexy, strong and a bad man. Life was cruel for him and changed his life into a kidnapper. Yet he doesn't forget that he is doing this because he needs to.
When he met Willow his objective in life changes.
Alec is a bad man with a lot of money. He loves to buy women and treat them like trash.

This is a wonderful masterpiece that Monica James wrote this year.
Can't wait to read the second and the third books.
If you love Dark Romance you need to read this book.
