Rock Star, Interrupted (Tragic Duet Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 850 ratings

"This is the first book I've read of S.M. Shade and it won't be the last. This book consumes me in the best way. I can't wait to see what happens in the next one." -Wall Street Journal & USA Bestselling Author M. Robinson

I found my stillness, my space between breaths, when I was a kid. The answer is simple. If it hurts, I pour music on it.
After years of hard work, it's finally happening. Tragic has a number one album and we've gone from being discussed as one hit wonders to hearing words like meteoric mentioned alongside our name.
With two tours planned and another album on its way, we have a lot to look forward to. Playing in a different city every night, the shimmer and roar of the crowd, after parties and endless women. My lifelong dream is in the palm of my hand until one phone call leaves everything hanging in the balance.

Well first up, there is a massive cliffhanger as this a duet, so if you can’t handle one of those, maybe wait until the next book is out. Personally, though they make me crazy, it won’t stop me reading a book, especially one by SM Shade, who is a great writer.

This book is about Axton, the lead singer in a newly successful rock band. They’re just about to go on a huge festival tour when he get a call telling him that he’s a father and the mother has died, leaving him as the only option for parental care. After Dani his sister convinces him to take the baby he’s scared to care for, he hires a nanny and then tries to get back to his regular rock star life.

The Nanny is Naomi, and she adores Caden, the baby. She’s 24 and been working as a teacher of 2nd grade kids, but wants something a little bit more low key. Though Naomi adores Caden, she doesn’t think much of Axton. He is rude and arrogant and doesn’t want to be around his son. She is unafraid of him and calls him out when he’s getting out of hand. Axton things she’s too stubborn and assertive by far, and she needs to get out of his business, or he might do something they’ll both regret.

There is so much going on between these two it’s hard to quantify it. There is a lot going on in terms of history of both Axton and Naomi that is only partially revealed. Their relationship has a lot of back and forth and no one, especially the reader, knows what is going to happen next.

I like both these characters and Dani, who sets Axton straight and is really good at bringing him back down to earth, is great. The way they all interact feels very natural and understandable given the circumstances they all find themselves in

I really can’t wait to read the next book in the duet because the cliffhanger is incredible. I soooooo want to know what happens next!

I didn't see the ending coming. Totally hate cliffhangers but the story itself was great. Will be interesting to get to the end.

This is a new author for me and I must say a new favourite.
This book is the first of a duet, and I am glad I downloaded both together as this book ends on a cliff hanger.
I won't be giving away any spoilers, I never do in my reviews because I hate reading spoilers myself.

As soon as I started reading, I was hooked. I was transported away into the story which is how I know I'm going to like a book.

Naomi has a back story and so does Axton, both of which are revealed bit by bit as the book progresses but immediately I liked Naomi. She was kind hearted, easy going and her personality to me came across as maybe a little reserved, nerdish even, but she had a backbone and didn't let Axton intimidate her.
As the book progressed, I found myself liking both main characters as well as Dani, Axton's sister.
There were times when I found myself getting frustrated with both Naomi & Axton because the story was building up to something and then one or the other of them would throw a spanner in the works and mess everything up.
The story really took a dramatic turn about 2/3rds in and I found myself trying to read faster and faster where I was so engrossed and anxious to find out what was going to happen. Because of this I lost track of where I was in the book when suddenly it was the end just as an amazing twist happened that threw me for a loop where I was just not expecting this turn of events.
So thank goodness I had the 2nd book ready to go.

I was enthralled throughout, and I was awash with emotions, I finished the book in under 24 hours and started reading the second one straight away (I've already finished it at the time of writing this review).

All in all its a really good read. Excellent storyline, well written and devised.
My usual genre is MC romances but, saying that, I have read several rockstar books. This book relies on the story and not the sex to keep the reader interested, and trust me, I was more than interested.

I will definitely be reading more of S.M. Shade's books.

Wow where to start. God I loved this. Warning it is a cliff hanger. S.M. Shade has done it again. Love Naomi and Axle. Rock star 🌟 finds out he's a father and the ups and downs of life in the public eye. A must read till on February for the next book.

Ooh, I do love a good twist although I think I'm over the alpha male treating women badly. Cute baby though. And thankfully only 15 minutes until book 2 goes live 😃

This is not your typical fall in love with the nanny Rock Star read. Axton and Naomi basically don’t like each other, but they chemistry will burn you up between them. They see people and world differently. Axton has his music that he puts his heart and soul into. He has a wall up that he doesn’t let people in so easily. He life dream is taking off until he gets unexpected call. He decides to hire a nanny to help with his news that has shocked him. Somehow, Naomi has help breakdown his wall around his heart. She was looking for a change and put her life on hold. Although her dream of having a family was not in her near future anytime soon. She did her job well and doesn’t take any crap from Axton, no matter what he throws her way. The become close and then a tragic happens. Now, I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series to find out what happens. Who is responsible for the mess? This book will suck you in and you will not see this cliffhanger coming. It’s a great read even if I wasn’t ready for the cliffhanger. It is a great way to leave you wanting more with your mouth left wide open.

This story is awesome it is definitely a must read. About a rock star who finds out he has a baby and decides to look after him and higher a nanny,so he doesn't have to give up the whole rock star lifestyle. The story pretty much talks about how life is as a rock star, all the drama and issues, while also taking his son along for the ride.
Note this does end on a Cliffhanger (which I hate but continue to read it) recommend it to all

Review Past family drama has made Ax a difficult man. His walls are thick to protect him, to keep him from adding to what his father always reminded him of "One is gone. One is done." He didn't want to add to it. A surprise baby could change everything or nothing. It is all up to Ax.

Naomi has no one. She needs someone. A little bit of luck goes along way. She becomes nanny to a darling little boy. Love is found. Love is avoided. Love is taken away.

A door destroyed. A life taken. A life stolen. A rock star's world comes crumbling down.

Loved this book for so many reason. I was blown away by many shocking moments. The moody rock star kept me guessing. The nanny's dedication had my heats skipping a beat or ten. The cvilatoin to the family crushed me, destroyed me and left wanting to devour Rock Star, Unbroken. The title gave me hope.

This is the first book in the Tragic Duet series, and the story of Axton, and Naomi. Axton is finally living his dream, he is successful, and looking forward to the future. But when Axton's life changes overnight, he ends up turning to Naomi. This was an great read, the characters are well written, and the story captivated me. This was emotional, raw, gripping, dramatic, intense, and sexy, and the end was such a twist. I can't wait to read book 2. I highly recommend this book!
