Hidden off of Independence Square in Netanya is a Museum and Library in a three-bedroom apartment looking out on Herzel beach and Independence square The Yemenite Jewish community is known as a unique community among almost 70 other Jewish communities in Israel. Its culture and tradition is believed to date back to the time of the First Temple. It is believed that 2500 years ago, several Jewish families left Israel with the Queen of Sheba travelling through southern Arabia to Yemen. More Jews joined them after the destruction of the Second Temple and in later years. Throughout the years these Jews remained isolated They strictly guarded their Jewish character and basic cultural values based on their religion. 50,000 people were brought in on the Wings of Eagles operation in the years 1949-50. The Museum is run by the Association for Society and Culture, Documentation and Research.
