Won't Miss You

Rate this book
Big, burly, and definitely not my new best friend.
Benji is the current obstacle standing in my way.
Not that I mind.
Who said your brother’s best friend had to be off-limits, anyway?

Rich chick waltzing into town buying up businesses like candy.
I hear the whispers about me.
They’re not wrong. Just not exactly right, either.

Benji doesn’t see it that way, though. He puffs his chest out when I walk in—a very muscular chest, might I add—and lets me know in no uncertain terms that I’m not welcome on his turf.

I’m just here to find my brother, who left without even saying goodbye.
But Sawyer? Nowhere to be seen.

Great.

I have no choice but to stay here and wait, and Benji has no choice but to humor me.
My brother’s best friend has a funny definition of humor, though.
Not so much ha-ha as hate you forever.

Pretty soon, Benji’s guard-dog act starts to crumble and I catch a glimpse of the man underneath.
The rugged, strong man who makes my heart thump and my core clench.
The man with a kiss to bring me to my knees.
The man who might just crack my heart wide open...

...but when my brother finally returns, our budding romance could fall apart before it even begins.

Won't Miss You is a stand-alone brother's best friend romance with a guaranteed happy ending and absolutely zero cheating.

Benji's been warned by his best friend Sawyer that his sister is evil. So confronting her when she slinks in looking for Sawyer doesn't go well, especially when Benji finds out she's going to be his new boss...

Hm, I'm of two minds about this one. On one hand, Benji is actually a sweetheart hiding under his grumpy, hurt exterior. He made the story for me. On the other hand, Rae drove me nuts. I appreciated the epiphany she FINALLY had near the end, but it felt like too little, too late. But, aside from disliking Rae's character, I liked the rest of the story. It's sweet and entertaining. Perfect for when you're not looking for a really deep, dark read, but want something light to entertain for an hour or two.

Won't Miss You is a brother's best friend story, and I love that trope. I also love stories with dysfunctional families, so I was intrigued by Rae and her brother (and what the hell happened).

First, let me say that I adored Benji. He has a gruff exterior at first, but it's easy to see why when you discover that his best friend Sawyer basically made his sister sound like the devil. He cares a lot about his town and Sawyer, so he is protective. But, he does have a good heart and its easy to fall in love with him.

I think Benji's awesomeness make Rae's not so awesomeness more evident. She is annoying and brash at times. She does experience a lot of character growth throughout the story, which is great, but I really just struggled with liking her. She came across as immature in the ways she handled several things and that was difficult for me to forgive easily.

Won't Miss You will appeal to readers who love character development because Monroe really delivers! I loved the brother's best friend trope, and in Won't Miss You it was even more interesting because Benji and Rae fall for each other while Sawyer is away and then he returns and isn't pleased! While I struggled with Rae, many readers might have a totally different view of her, so if you like this trope, give Won't Miss You a shot!

  POV:
  Tears: no
Trope: brother's best friend, dysfunctional family
  Series/Standalone: standalone

  HEA:

After All by Kristen Proby, May Contain Wine by Lani Lynn Vale, Baiting Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds...then you will probably like Won't Miss You!

Who doesn't love a best friend sibling romance?! That's the reason I chose to read this book. Add in enemies to lovers and I'm sold. I needed a book with low angst and this book was exactly that.

Benji, resident mechanic in town, has a misconception about Rae due to the harsh statements that her brother Sawyer said regarding her that formed this image in his mind. He instantly hates her and makes it his mission to driver her out of town. Rae is in town for her brother that keeps on evading her. She can't find him and the only person who knows how to contact him hates her guts. He has all this animosity towards her and it doesn't make matters better now that she is his boss. But Benji is finding that Rae isn't anything like what he has been told. The more time they spend together, the more he sees who she truly is.

I was angry at the way Sawyer and his parents treated Rae. Rae's parents wanted to control her and Sawyer didn't know the facts and judged her based on that. He stayed away from his sisters and had nothing to do with them based on his misconception. I get that because of that he cut Rae from his life but why did he stop all contact with his youngest sister. I found him a little self-involved. Benji also made me angry. He could have also been a little bit more understanding and to see things through Rae's point of view. All she was trying to do was to unite her family.

Although those characters angered me at some point during this book, I found this to be an easy, quick read. The writing and plot was good.

I love brothers best friend romances

I love the cover of this book, it’s fun and colourful image really drew me in, as did the blurb, one of my favourite tropes, brothers best friend are some of the best romance stories out there.

This book has a unique storyline and some great characters, I especially hope we see books for Sawyer and Lucy in the not too distant future.

As you may have guessed though, I just did not click with this couple at all.

Rae was great in the beginning, I love the way she waltzed in to town with a ‘take no prisoners’ attitude and went toe to toe with all the gruffness that was Benji. Working hard, sacrificing her dreams to ensure her brother, sister and nephew live a good life, Rae is endearing. Unfortunately I tired of her idealisms when she went back to Houston to reconcile with her parents, who are clearly uninterested in the fact they had children, and felt she should have given up a long time ago, but sadly she didn’t. I also feel she was too quick to forgive, Benji was awful to her and yet the moment he was there, she was running in to his arms.
Benji... I’m sorry to say I couldn’t stand him, he was unnecessarily cruel to Rae from the moment he met her, I appreciate his loyalty was to Sawyer, but he didn’t need to be as vile to her as he was. Same goes for how he treated her on her return from Houston, he didn’t seem to care about her at all, or take even a moment to think about why she did what she did, someone he claims to love and his thoughts were only of himself.

Parts of this story felt repetitive to me, maybe it’s just me, but it felt like a constant loop of Benji thinking he was attracted to Rae, but then about what Sawyer had said about her, over and over. Same with Rae, she was attracted to Benji, but he’s her brothers best friend and she should stay away. I found myself skipping chunks I’m afraid. I wasn’t invested in this couple, no matter how hard I tried.

Though the main characters weren’t my favourite, I thoroughly enjoyed the supporting characters. I’m not sure if Sarah already has her own story as this is a new author to me, but if not, she definitely should, as should Lucy and Sawyer, even if I did want to punch him on his first appearance, he definitely grew on me.

Overall, not a bad story, maybe I read it on a bad day, not for me, but well written.

This series gets better and better with each book Lilian writes. Won’t Miss You is Book 4 of her We Shouldn’t Series and it just about killed me (in a good way) on a Tuesday afternoon. Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly fall in love with another book boyfriend - BAM - I’m hit with Benji!

Benji is the sexiest, swooniest, mechanic/airplane pilot you will ever meet. He is absolutely mesmerizing with his shaggy blonde hair and blue eyes. But what makes him so incredibly hot is his heart. At a young age he was forced to grow up quickly and step up to take care of his younger sister after both his parents ran off. He is beautifully broken and suffers from abandonment issues but underneath all that, is a man desperate to love and be loved. Benji does not trust easily but when he does, you’ve earned his loyalty for life. When this incredible man meets Rae Montgomery he meets his soulmate.

On the surface, Rae is the privileged daughter of oil tycoons. She has a cushy job and an easy life. But and there is a big but, not all that glitters is gold. Rae is beautifully complicated because nothing is as it seems and yet it is exactly the way it seems. With Rae, you need to open your eyes and really look and you will see her truths come to the surface and prove that all the assumptions made about her are wrong. Strong, passionate and completely selfless, Rae does not have a mean bone in her body. No one and I mean no one deserves a good man more than Rae.

Together Benji and Rae are book magic. I was rooting for them from their very first interaction and hung on with bated breath as they teased me mercilessly before finally sharing their first kiss. From that moment on I was #teambenjae all the way! Watching them fall head over heels in love made my book loving heart so very, very, happy. TBR this incredible book and add Books 1-3 of the series to your pile as well, because each and every book is a must read. Won’t Miss you has the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval - read it and enjoy!

I’ve been meaning to check out this author’s work for awhile now because her covers are so fun and the blurbs sound enticing. But this was sort of a forgettable read for me. It was fine. There’s nothing bad but also nothing particularly compelling about it, and I’m probably going to forget that I even read it a few days from now. It’s short, low angst, and a mix of sweet and sexy, so if you’re looking for a quick, easy read, then this might satisfy.

The story follows Benji, a mechanic whose world is thrown off its axis when he meets Rae. As the new owner of Benji’s workplace (the one he was planning to buy) and the estranged sister to his friend, Rae has engrained herself into every aspect of his life. They immediately clash, and it’s not until Benji looks past his assumptions that he realizes that Rae isn’t the woman he expected her to be.

I love enemies to lovers rom coms, and I was really expecting this to have more tension (or at least a playful feel). But very little of the book centers around the workplace - or even their feud. Other than some assumptions that don’t give off the best first impression of either character, there’s not much tension at all, just a serving of drama. It’s got a very instalove, kinda immature feel, and glosses over certain elements of the story, so I sometimes felt shortchanged. I did love how much time is spent focused on our couple, but the relationship felt a bit over the top to me. It’s missing the nuances that make a romance feel more than surface level, and everything happens at lightning speed. So this falls somewhere between 3 and 4 stars for me - I didn’t dislike it, but I also found it pretty unremarkable. I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this quick, sexy romance.

I’ve been waiting for Benji to get his story since I met him in book one. He’s a big loveable Teddy bear but he stands up for the people he cares about. I loved the book! It was a solid 5 star read for me and I’d give it bonus stars too. Its well written, steamy and enough emotion packed into this story to punch you in the feels.

Benji is a full-time mechanic and part time pilot and all around easy going guy. He befriends Sawyer and takes him under his wing when he moves to town. He helped get a job at the shop working with him even though he could see the guy wasn’t trained. They’ve become friends. Rae is in town looking for her brother, Sawyer, and has purchased the mechanics shop the Benji and Sawyer work at. Sawyer takes off for parts unknown when he sees his sister coming because he thinks she’s evil and betrayed him but Rae is just trying to put her family back together. She’s got this wild idea that after she gets her brother to listen to her and meet his nephew that she’ll be able to get her parents to reconcile with her siblings. Her parents are horrible selfish people. Rae is definitely naïve when it comes to her parents. Benji and Rae have an instant and very hot attraction to each other that they fight off mostly because Benji believes Sawyer when she says his sister is evil and selfish. Benji has his own prejudice against rich people. Benji starts to see Rae for the good person she really is and not Hitler reincarnated and they start up a relationship but will Rae's need to have the perfect family mess up their happy existence? Will Benji's stubbornness and pride keep him from finding happiness?

Another Woodvale adventure of the heart.

Thank you for allowing me to read this an ARC I truly adore your books and this series has definitely been an adventure. We have briefly met Benji throughout this series but in this book, we truly get to know the man himself. He is soo hurt deep down and angry at everyone for leaving him but he loves with everything he has and that really comes across throughout especially when he lets his walls down and lets Rae into his life.

When we first meet Rae along with Benji we get the impression she is some rich Daddies girl walking in taking everything over, thinking she is the bee's knees but that couldn't be further from the truth. she is a selfless woman who put everyone's needs above her own and yet all she wants is her family back together something that with the family she has cant happen.

The union of Rae and Benji is OMG!!! steamy, heart-melting everything. as always there is a moment where we want to scream out loud because reality hits in and hurdles get in the way but reading the connection between them is hot and draws you in with them.

I love how we get an insight into sawyer and we get a bit more of an update on willow and some of the other characters, my only critique would be I felt the ending was really quick, we had such a lovely detailed insight into how their story unfolds and the end seems to just be really fast, I was a bit taken aback but I still loved it and Woodvale is an amazing place and this book makes me want to go there.

Thanks, Lil, Amazing

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

My rating is really 3.5 stars, but since I can't do halves... I liked this book for the most part. I love how dedicated and loving Rae is, I love that she put aside everything in her life to help the ones she loves, and I love the little town they found.

What really bothered me was Benji's reaction to Rae, at the beginning and toward the end when he jumped to the wrong conclusion. I get he has issues from his father, but I just don't understand how he can make assumptions without talking first. Communication is key, and Rae was really trying to explain the situation, but he wouldn't let her. And instead of saying what he was really thinking, he just closed up and put up his wall. I don't know how they forgave each other so quickly, and the lack of communication was what led to the rating I gave this book.

HOWEVER, like I said, I loved Rae, I loved Sarah and Lucy and Roman. I did enjoy this story, I just wish the two main characters were more open with each other. I felt like they didn't really get to know each other on a personal level and then things sort of exploded for a little bit.

I'm glad I got a chance to read this novel and this is my first book by Lilian Monroe. I'm hoping to read more of her stories in the future!

Lilian Monroe is a new to me author, and I'm glad that I finally experienced one of her stories.  Oh, and her covers are truly eye catching beautiful with happy colors.  Anyway, I digress.  Benji is Rae's brother, Sawyer's best friend, and unfortunately her brother did her no favors with the way he painted her in a bad light.  So, when Rae gets to town to look for her brother, she comes across Benji, who is super mean to her, like really mean.  Yeah, I can usually get past the first bad meetings, but Benji didn't grow on me.  They have chemistry, but still, I couldn't get past some of his questionable meanness.  Even when he realized that there was more to her than what her brother said and started falling for her, he could still be quite cruel as he wouldn't listen to her or even communicate well when they hit the bumps, and frankly, I wouldn't have forgiven him for some of it.  Anyway, Rae's brother comes back & he's none too pleased when he realized what happened with Benji & his sister, so you already know that it's extra drama for a pair who haven't quite gotten to know each other all that well.  Please remember this is only my opinion, so decide for yourselves by hitting your one click buttons.  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I didn’t have a clue Benji was going to be so hot and such great boyfriend material, but I was glad to be wrong. I was a little worried when I started the book and his friend Sawyer described his sister Rae so unflatteringly. Then she shows up and fits the image Sawyer painted and I had one of those “this could be a long story” moments.

But, it didn’t take long for Rae’s true colors to shine through - at least those that showed how much she cared about her family and made sacrifices for them even though it was hard on her. It also didn’t take long for a steaming pot of chemistry to heat up between Rae and Benji.

Much of the story is about bringing estranged family together and putting what is important in life in the right perspective. I really enjoyed this book and it was a great addition to the series. If you haven’t read the other books in the series, you will be fine because only passing references are made to people from other books having no impact in this story.

This book is amazing and I loved it! We head back to Woodvale and this time it’s Benji’s turn to find his one and only. Problem is, she happens to be the sister of his best friend Sawyer, who swears that Rae is the devil. He and Rae had a dream to build their own business but Rae chose to work for their father instead and Sawyer won’t speak to her. Rae shows up in town, as the new owner of the garage where Benji works and is looking for Sawyer, who has run off. The more Benji gets to know her, the more he thinks maybe Sawyer is wrong about her. He will bring Sawyer back to town to learn the truth about why Rae turned her back on him and what happened to their sister, Lucy. Benji and Rae will find happiness in each other’s arms but things will go south when she returns home to get her inheritance from her parents. Finding out they will never be who she wants them to be, Rae returns to Woodvale hoping to make things right with Benji. It will take some time and effort but soon Benji will get some advice from his father and it will send him back to Rae and their happily ever after.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

I enjoyed this book. Swyer was so funny at the beginning of this book calling Rae his sister a "she devil", I was looking forward to reading. Rae came to town looking for her brother with a attitude that Benji refused to help her to find him (even though he knew how to reach him) . Turned out she wasn't what she appeared to be. Rae was trying to put her family back together and finally explain why she made the decision she made that made Swyer hate her. Once Benji believed her, he got Swyer to come back. Rae and Benji developed strong feelings for each other. Benji loved Rae because she sacrificed herself to take care of her sister and nephew when their parents disowned her because she got pregnant. Rad did everything to find her brother so they could be a family again. She finally accepted her parents do not care for their children unless they followed their rules. Rae made her own family which included her family and all the people who loved her without conditions.
It turned out to be a good story.

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Won't Miss You by Lilian Monroe is book four of the We Shouldn't series. This series follows the trope of a brother's friend romance. I'm here for it!!

Benji has been in this series since book one. He has come across as the shy, quiet type who is a mechanic and pilot. Rae walks into his garage and Benji can only go off of the information that his best friend gave him about his sister. These two knock heads from the start even though there's an obvious attraction.

While this book is a romance with a brother's friend/best friend's sister trope, it really is a book about families and how sometimes we have to choose our family instead of the toxic ones we're born into. The love that Rae has for her siblings as well as Benji's relationship with Sawyer is amazing.

Lilian Monroe has been a one-click author for me since the first book I read of hers.

This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Benji and Rae’s story. When Rae shows up looking for her brother, she meets Benji who is his best friend. Her brother Sawyer did not paint a very flattering picture of her and when she shows up she appears to be as expected, however Benji soon realises that first impressions are incorrect, and she is just a girl that is trying to get her family back together. Benji underneath that hard persona is a big teddy bear, who is broken and angry at everyone who has left him, but when he loves he does which his heart and soul. The chemistry between these two is sizzling, but what will happen when Sawyer appears? This is a well written story which is emotional and steamy, and I recommend for all. The only downside, in my opinion only, is that the ending appeared a tad rushed.

Can two selflessly stubborn misguided people work past all their assumptions and feel free to respond to the electric chemistry they have??? Guess you’ll have to read Won’t Miss You, the story of Benji & Rea. Always am sucked into Lilian Monroe’s books and this was no different. Love her strong characters so much! Benji, the selfless protector of his sister Sara and Rea, the sisters whose diligently trying to stitch her family back together. Neither is motivated by money however it taints not only their feelings for each other but those whose have abandoned them in the past. This book had all the feels and I flew through it falling deeply into the story. Love this series & this town. Can’t wait to see what’s next. As always, you can’t go wrong with a Lilian Monroe book.

If you are a fan of brother's best friend, or enemies to lovers, this is the book for you. Benji hates Rae when he first meets her. Rae is not very impressed with Benji either. However, they both feel an almost irresistible pull towards one another. Life keeps throwing them in each other's paths, and they learn more about each other.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are not what they appear, and so well written. I truly loved the born to money, but hate what money makes people attitude that several of the characters share. The need to work for their living, instead of expecting special treatment because they are rich. That aspect of the story made this book so much more enjoyable. It also really made it stand out compared to other books with rich characters.

Benji and Rae have become my new favourite couple. To say I’ve enjoyed reading this book, is a complete understatement. I’ve savoured it, not wanting it to end. I have really loved it. Another HEA, feel good book. I will be honest, I have shed a tear or two. There are some pretty emotional parts, that squeezed my heart and left me reaching for the tissue box. Two lost souls looking for love. I love the relationship between Benji and Rae, it starts off slow burn and then turns into a pool of hot smokiness! Their relationship develops and you just can’t leave it alone. I hope there are more relationships joining this series. There are plenty more characters that need to find love. Sawyer and Lucy are two additions.

This book brings us Benji, and Rae. Benji's friend Sawyer is Rae's brother. He "disappeared" from the family as they had a misunderstanding and Sawyer has nothing good to say about Rae. When Rae appears in town, Sawyer leaves, and leaves Benji to get rid of Rae. However, much to his surprise, Rae has bought the garage they work in - which doesn't please Benji at all. However, the more he gets to know Rae, he thinks Sawyer might be wrong about her. When Benji finds the real reason for Rae's actions, he tells Sawyer he should come home. There are many surprises, but this is a heartwarming, feel good story. I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

Rounds off this series well

The fourth book on the "We Shouldn't" series, this follows Benji and Rae. Benji appeared in book 1 and then again mentioned in 2 and 3. Its nice to see his character rounded out. I wasn't sure who book 4 would focus on, but im just glad it wasn't Racer lol. I'm not yet convinced I pike his character.
Benji and Rae also experience that instant attraction, but the story is basically "enemies to lovers". I do love them together. Benji's stubbornness and Rae naivete are the causes of conflict, but as always, there is a HEA.
Every book in this series is a "brother's best friend romance" and I loved them all.

I love the enemies to lovers genre and combine that with best friend siblings and I am in.
This one was great because said siblings , Sawyer and Rae , are estranged.
I have looked forward to reading Benjis story since we were first introduced to him in a previous story. I love his loyalty. He ability to be able to see past
Misconceptions.
Rae was great in her dedication to family and he want to mend fences with her brother. Loved these two together. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.

This is a cute small town, best friends sibling romance. At times I felt it dragged on but in the end it was all worth it. This story shows the truth on how blood does not always mean family. It shows you that you have to do what is right for you and what YOU want to do in life, take a step back from always taking care of the ones around you.

A heart-squeezing story with happy, funny, emotional and sad moments that made me want to grunt with frustration is a good way! Benji is such a likeable guy that I went through all the heartache with him waiting for him to finally get a HEA. And with Rae because she is just chasing this dream she has that just keeps slipping out of her reach. A very enjoyable read.

3 1/2* This is a quick and easy romance read. Benji has a sweet and soft side lurking under his gruff exterior. Rae and Sawyer are siblings that are estranged due to a misunderstanding. Sawyer's skewed belief in Rae is passed on to his friend Benji and taints his impression of Rae. It is a journey towards renewed relations and a possible HEA. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

What can I say, I love a good easy and funny slow burn. You might think it's a fun rom-com just based on the cover. However, you can expect emotional and sad moments in this one too. It's an all-in-one book, it has everything you need. This book is amazing and I loved it! I haven't read the previous books in this series, but I'm making sure I'm going to read it!

Family is not always flesh and blood but by choice

I enjoyed this love story. Bringing some parts of family together, disregarding others, and choosing what really matters, makes for some hard but necessary choices. Finding ones one true love is worth the battle. Being honest with ones’ self take courage, stamina, and letting go of pride. A true romance!

Brothers best friend

I adore the characters in this story. I wish I knew where Woodvale was so I could at least visit. I'd like to lay my eyes (maybe hands) on Benji!! I love the brothers best friend troupe all of a sudden 😍 Steamy sexy times spiced this story up just right!

Enjoyable series

I have enjoyed the 4 books in this series very much. They seem like real people with real feelings. The thing I couldn't come to terms with is the timeline. The author jumps from 2 days to 2 weeks and back again several times in the series. To confusing for me.
