Just One Kiss

Rate this book
The heart wants what it wants and mine has never stopped wanting her.

London Canterbury and I were never meant to be.
Her family was rich. She was cheer captain. The most popular girl in our school while I was the opposite. Poor, nerdy, and invisible.
Eight years ago, I kissed the hell out of her, knowing I was never going to see her again.
Or so I thought.
Because here I am, rescuing none other than London who crashed her car into a tree in the middle of a blizzard.
Right before Christmas.
Now she’s stuck in my house. In my head. Back in my heart before I ever have a chance to stop it.
As the storm intensifies outside so does the fire between us.
Despite all that, I know this is too good to last. That eventually, the storm will end, and she’ll leave.
But losing her is no longer an option.
I’m hoping that sometimes all it takes to fall in love is just one kiss…

Just One Kiss is a fun and steamy, holiday, second chance romance! It is a complete standalone.

Rating is it's not you, but me. I thought Miles was pretty perfect but I got reallllyyyyy annoyed with London. I hated how she put the onus on him for everything when she herself could have stepped up and put herself out there.

Also...I loathe when adult FMCs call their father "daddy". It's so cringe and she said it nearly half a dozen times in a span of two pages. I was so done.

DNF at 53%.

Yes, I'm annoyed at myself for getting jittery at a novella. Really! ? It's not that long.

But I'm so so annoyed by the dude pulling away. And then deciding "let's sex her up while I have her" without even TRYING to talk to her about what he's hoping for.

This had so much potential but the author is killing me with the hero's negative motivation.

I skipped to the epilogue from 53%. I have no regrets! Super cute and I wish I had more time with their cuteness.

Wounded, tortured hero, anyone? Oh, my heart, is this one ever delish! Gah!! The story isn’t terribly heavy on the angst, but prepare yourself all the same. Miles Ford is going to stir up every last instinct you have to fix and soothe and make everything better for him.

Miles and London knew each other in high school and almost had a thing one night after graduation. One heart-stopping kiss, and then Miles was gone. But London Canterbury, with her stunning violet eyes, became the girl Miles measured every other woman by, with none of them measuring up.

Years later, a few days before Christmas, Miles rescues London when she wrecks her car during a snow storm. He wants desperately to give in to all those old feelings that come roaring to the surface, yet Miles knows it will only destroy him that much more when she leaves after the storm to be with her family for Christmas.

Y'all, this one will slay your heart. Miles is very similar to his rescue dog, Betsy, who was treated badly by her previous owner. Life in general has treated Miles pretty badly at times. And while he doesn’t need a certain pop artist's music to calm him the way Betsy does, he's so afraid to take a chance, expecting he'll just be disappointed and alone again.

Then along comes London, with her inner beauty, innate goodness and calm personality, the perfect counterpoint to Miles. She sees clear through his gruff, guarded exterior to his beautiful, scarred heart, handling it as carefully as the most exquisite, priceless glass sculpture.

These two are so perfect for each other and their story is beyond magnificent. Yes, they have amazing chemistry and get downright smexy with enough heat to melt the snow from the worst of blizzards. But it's the soul-deep emotion that ripped and twisted my heart only to leave it blissfully satisfied at the end. Masterful, stunning and unforgettable, Miles and London’s story will leave its permanent mark on your heart, and you'll absolutely love every single minute of it!

From the beginning of this cute read I fell in love with London and her family, their banter had me laughing. London is traveling to see her family for Christmas but gets caught in a blizzard that causes major problems for her and her savior is someone she least expects. Miles and his dog Betsy jamming out to Taylor Swift also had me cracking up and his heroics in helping London had me swooning. They know each other from high school and never thought they would see each other again but fate has other plans for them. As London swoons over her long time crush and his heroic nature she discovers there is so much more to him than she originally thought and now they are trapped together in the blizzard so will their attraction make the temperatures rise or will the things that haunt Miles interfere with the chemistry they’ve always had? Oh how much I loved Mister Crush Sexy Sir Miles, he was such a sweet guy that always felt like he was abandoned so he led a lonely life to keep from being left behind again so when London comes back in his life he doesn’t expect his walls to crumble and he knows the pain will be inevitable when she leaves and she will because she has to. Miles also underestimates London’s feelings and how she has never stopped falling for him, but can she reach his darkest places and bring him to the light or will it take a Christmas miracle? Love this author and her writing it is always a joy to read these stories and so easy to fall for her characters.

This was such a sweet holiday romance and I loved every part of it! Miles & London had been out of contact for eight years after they shared Just One Kiss at their graduation party but London crashing her car during a snow storm brings them back together — and feelings get picked back up.

London & Miles were both really loveable characters (something I can't say about all romances I read) and I couldn't help but root for them to end up together. I loved how worried Miles was about London after her accident and how quickly she sees through his issues with love & relationships.

As this was a novella, there wasn't much place for drama and honestly, that just made it better — no third act breakup! The ending had a bit of drama but it was still really sweet and well resolved.

Just One Kiss is a great second chance romance, with a little holiday magic mixed in.

London is travelling home to see her family for Christmas when she gets caught in a blizzard and ends up in an accident. Miles and his T. Swift loving dog, Betsy, happen to be out and find London and rescue her. The moment Miles and London see each other there is an instant recognition between them. They have seen each other before. Many years prior.

I loved London and Miles! Their chemistry was amazing. Their history. Their relationship. Miles is such a sweet guy. He grew up with everyone who he ever loved leaving and never coming back. He built up walls to protect himself. It was love at first sight when it came to London, however, she was the popular girl in high school, the girl who had everything going for her and he knew they could never be together.

If you’re looking for a feel good, second chance, holiday romance this one is a MUST READ!

4.5 Star Review Just One Kiss by J Saman
J Saman is a new author to me and I am not sure why I have not come across her before. This is a second chance at love story and is London Canterbury and
London Canterbury and Miles Ford's story and ticked ticked the boxes for me.
These two have history as they knew each other in high school but as she was rich and he was not, Miles knew that they could never be a couple and Miles kissed London after graduation and left.
Fast forward eight years and Miles rescues London when she has a car accident. It’s as though the years have disappeared and the feelings that Miles had re surface when he realizes who he has rescued.
Miles has been hurt and keeps to himself, his only company, his rescue dog Betsy. He is afraid to open himself up and let London in, after all she will be leaving once the storm passes. However London sees beneath the surface and it was beautiful to watch their relationship develop.
The chemistry sizzled between them and their story left me with a smile on my face. After all it is the season where miracles can occur.

London was on her way to celebrate Christmas with her family when she’s rescued by an old acquaintance. Miles was her shy high school crush. He and his rescue dog Betsy enfold London into their cozy hideaway. I loved their chemistry and naughty banter full of innuendo and sass. Miles is her hero and stepped out of his own comfort zone to be there for her. Great five hanky read!

When the girl Miles has loved since high school turns out to be the woman he rescues from where her car had crashed in the storm, he takes her back to his home and doesn't want to ever let her go. But he doesn't fit into her rich world, and love equals pain in his view, so their time together has to have an expiration date. Will his Scroogy views on love spell an end to their holiday bubble of togetherness or will he take the leap and go to New York with her when the storm tapers off?

This is one of the sweetest holiday romances I've read in years. Miles and London are adorable together and their chemistry practically melted my Kindle! This is the perfect little read to spice up any holiday.

Hang on to your heartstrings because J. Saman is about to tug on them, twist them and give them a few chuckles as Fate steps in with the help of Mother Nature and brings two souls together amidst a blizzard.

Miles was that kid that no one noticed, London was the girl everyone wanted to be, then they grew up after one incredible high school kiss, incredible to Miles, anyway. Would London even realize who her rescuer was? Would she know how much he felt for her in their teens? Would she realize he isn’t that nerdy kid anymore?

A few days stranded in his cabin during a blizzard may show London the man he has become or would it show Miles he was more than a forgotten memory? JUST ONE KISS has it all for us holiday romance lovers! Seriously, is there anything better than two people trapped alone, isolated and forced to be themselves?

Sexy, sweet and not overly dramatic, the grown up little rich girl might just find a wealth of love with the boy who has become a man. There is nothing more magical than a Christmas romance, except a fabulously warm tale told by J. Saman who knows how to add just enough spice to make the sweet perfect!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from J. Saman! This is my honest and voluntary review.

This book started with a little suspense which had me wondering what was going to happen and I liked it! Then it happened and it was pretty great!

London was heading to her parent's house in the middle of a massive snow storm. Her car had a different idea. London felt hopeless with no cell signal and no way out.

Miles was driving through the storm with Betsy his dog who only listened to Taylor Swift. He saw the red lights and knew he had to stop and help. Little did he know the woman who needed help was his long time crush since High School.

They spent nine years wondering what happened to the other. They finally got the chance and there were fireworks! Neither of them knowing what would happen after the storm but, both of them knowing what they wanted and to afraid to act on it. They had an amazing time being snowed in together after Miles rescued her. The London left and not too long after Miles was in her parents driveway! True Love always wins.

All London wants to do is make it to her family's vacation home for Christmas. But she misjudges the snow storm and visibility causes her to crash her car into a tree. She is rescued by Miles, an outsider boy that she had a crush on through most of high school. The boy that kissed her madly on graduation night and then disappeared for eight years.

This was such a short, sweet and steamy story. The whole time I was reading this story I had a smile on my face. I loved how safe London felt with Miles even after all these years; I loved their connection. My heart broke for Miles and his issues but I loved he was willing to take a chance and put his heart on the line. London and Miles were . . . I really have no words but to say that they were super sweet and cute and steamy. I adored them. Loved their shorty little story.

What's better than reading a good J. Saman's book? A Christmas love story! It's been a while since I've been sucked into a book, and reading Just One Kiss reminded me of why exactly I love and devour J. Saman's books! This is light and Christmas-ey, but also raunchy and deep. I love her ability to create an authentic storyline within the romance genre that really grabs your attention and makes you feel for the characters. I love the ups and downs of my emotions being toyed with, going from sex scenes to making me want to cry, to something light and comforting. I highly recommend this novel! More than just your Hallmark Christmas.

A really sweet holiday story of love and hope. In a way this is also a second chance story as Miles and London knew each other from high school. Now Miles is London's savior but really London is his. As a kid he never felt worthy of her, now he has a chance to make it right if he can take the leap. Often fate puts people in each other's paths because they are destined to be there. It doesn't hurt that Miles is romantic and swoon worthy and London is sassy and sweet.

Miles & London

A nice quick holiday read.

Friends at one point in their life, a full circle comes and they meet again. The what-ifs are answered after spending so many years apart wondering what their lives would be if things were said and done differently in the past. After spending a couple of days in Miles home the chemistry that was there so many years ago is still strong and alive.

I love second chance romance stories. This one was short but very sweet. I enjoyed getting to know London and Miles. I'll be honest though. I thought London was a little self centered and not really very bright. She could have hurt herself so much worse than she actually did. Miles was a selfless hero at first glance. But once he realized who the hurt woman was he became a hero with a mission. These two loved each other in high school from a distance. They never took the chance they could have had. Now is that chance. And what a chance it is. This is such a wonderfully, short Christmas story when sweet is currently needed.

Absolutely brilliant, a fantastically written story that had me happy one minute and crying the next. I loved every second of it and it also has some pretty hot and heavy moments so if you’re after a raunchy feel good love story then this is for you. My take from the book would be ‘if you never take a risk then you’ll forever regret it’.

I take my hat off to you J. Saman, I absolutely loved it!!

This little holiday treat caps off a fantastic year of reads from this author. While I didn't enjoy it as much as her full-length books (this hero might've been too tortured for a novella), it's a quick and STEAMY holiday read. I loved the forced proximity, the emotion, and there's definitely never a dull moment. It can be read in a couple of hours and delivers on its promise to put you through a range of emotions, so cuddle up next to the fire and dig into this hot, heartfelt read.

The story follows London and Miles, two former classmates who each had a teenage crush that they believed to be unrequited... at least until they shared one life-changing kiss before Miles exited London's life without notice. When a snowstorm brings them back together just in time for the holidays, they have to figure out what happens next - do they finally admit their feelings and move forward, or let the opportunity go to waste?

Saman is such a talented author, and I love her broken heroes. I always know that I'm in for a romance that mixes lightness with angst, and that's exactly what happens here. It's short and steamy, wasting no time getting to the heart of the story, and I loved the holiday vibe. However, I do kinda think Miles was too broken for a novella. I found his lack of self esteem and confidence to be exceedingly unattractive, and I think the story would've benefited from a few more scenes showcasing his positive qualities (outside of the bedroom, lol). Then again, second chance romances are always difficult for me because I just want them to TALK to each other, so that could be a "me" thing. For a novella though, this feels like a fully developed, steamy romance. I received an early copy via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review of this holiday romance.

What in the actual fuck is this? I paid 3 bucks for it, and I regret every, single cent. This is so much cringe. BAD cringe. Weird cringe. I have to skip this scene cringe. This reads like a 15 or 16 year old wrote it. Fuck, I’m insulting the teens. A 15 or 16 year old would have done a better job at writing this.

The constant POV jumping - THIS IS WHY YOU WRITE IN THIRD PERSON! The incessant navel gazing from BOTH characters. Everything has easy solutions, there is no character growth (who are very one dimensional to begin with), everything and everyone are picture perfect. THIS IS THE MOST AWKWARD SHIT I’VE READ IN FOREVER!

Coming down to this from a long line of amazingly written books… I don’t even know what to say! The editor (if there was one) was sleeping at work with this book. The alpha and beta readers are NOT honest with this writer. All the five stars from family and friends can’t save this book for anything in the world.

At 2.99 USD, to have the final tenth of the book be previews for other books is highway robbery in daylight with thousands of people looking on. This book should at most be .99, but really, this should be taken down, rewritten and re-edited. This is bad. I’m sorry.

Rating: 🎄🎄🎄🎄✨ / Steam: 🥵🥵🥵

Oh my, this holiday romance novella was so perfect. I loved these characters so much and as a fan of sexual tension, this one was overflowing! Just One Kiss is a second chance, forced proximity Christmas romance that is heavy on the feels and the steam. And it’s also the perfect holiday romance to get you in the mood, if you’re not there already.

London Canterbury is heading home for the holidays, but when a snowstorm hits and she loses control of her car, she’s stuck in more ways than one. Miles Ford is not a fan of Christmas, he stays home with his Taylor Swift loving dog, Betsy, and he ignores all the reveling and the celebration outside the front door of his farmhouse. But on his way home the evening of the storm, he comes across an accident and swoops in to help the driver only to stare into the lavender eyes of the one woman that got away. London and Miles have history—full of feels and longing, and a steamy goodbye kiss eight years ago—so when facing their past and possibly their future, things get really interesting.

London and Miles have so much chemistry and it’s obviously because of the history they share, the feelings they both have held onto for years and are now coming out in full force. But those feelings are what drives Miles to not only save London, but patch up her wounds after the accident and offer her refuge in his home during the snowstorm. With every passing minute that they spend together, the urge to throw caution to the wind and to pick up where they left off gets stronger, but I really loved how strong both of them were being. There’s so much unsaid and so much they need to figure out and navigate and neither of them wants to do anything that might upset the balance of what they’re doing.

I absolutely loved Miles. He’s a wounded hero who served in the military, got married too young and feels like everyone is constantly abandoning him. The foster system wasn’t kind to him, his ex wasn’t kind to him and the only things that he’s got going for him is his glass blowing business, the farmhouse he bought and did up and Betsy. Miles is comfortable in his life, but it’s only when London crashes into it does he realise just how much he’s missing. London was pretty fantastic too, with her kind heart and her sense of humour. I liked that she was the softness Miles needed in his life. I wouldn’t call this a grump x sunshine, because Miles isn’t much of a grump, but because of their opposing personalities and how much Miles keeps to himself, it sort of fits.

In 180 pages, J. Saman had me hooked and made me feel so much for these characters. I was rooting for Miles, I was swooning when London did, I was smiling at how much London feels and by the end of it, I was still grasping for more of them. And, while not the most important factor, the writing in this novella was perfect. The banter, the dialogue, the character history—everything won me over completely!

Where has J. Saman been?! I could not get enough of Just One Kiss! I am looking forward to reading more from J. Saman. I am a fan for life!

Anywho, Just One Kiss is a sweet second chance romance with plenty of chemistry between the main characters, Miles and London. Miles and London went to high school together and have not seen each other in years. Much less spoken to one another. When a snowstorm brings London crashing back into Miles’ life things will forever be different.

Let me say that Miles and London have incredible chemistry straight from the start and that makes their characters all the better. Nothing between them felt rushed or forced which is unusual when it comes to a short holiday read.

Anywho, Miles has always crushed on London and vice versa only they never said a word to each other about their feelings. I found Miles an intriguing character as he has his faults and his reasons for being shut off from the world (so to speak). I related a bit more to Miles because I like solitude and I saw more of myself in him than London. London is very outgoing and boy does she show it. I loved that she was not afraid to go after what she wanted and at the same time being subtle about it. London and Miles both are the types to love with their entire hearts, not just some.

Just One Kiss is most definitely worth all the attention and one clicks it receives. J. Saman has written a fantastic book with characters that will have you falling in no time. There is no drama of any kind which is hard to find. If you like short, sweet, holiday-themed, second chance, friends, to lovers romance, then this book is for you!

This is a new author to me and after reading Just One Kiss I’m left wondering why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now, well that’s about to change because I will be checking out her other works as soon as time permits. If second chance romance is your love you will want to read London Canterbury and Miles Ford’s love story, it’s a quick, entertaining read that touched me on so many levels.
London and Miles met in high school but they come from very different backgrounds, she is rich and he is in the foster care system so a fleeting kiss shared after graduation was all Miles ever expected. He moved on and she started her life in the town she grew up in but now 8 years on she finds herself stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere after an accident and she can’t believe it’s Miles who rescues her.....
This couple may have walked away from each other years ago but once they spend time together they realise they still have feelings for each other but will the timing be right this time around....
A romance set in the holiday season and we all know it’s a season where miracles can happen so please one click this magical read you won’t be disappointed and I’m sure like me you will be left with a big smile on your face. Looking forward to reading more from this author

OH MY GOODNESS, this was the sweetest book I have read in so long. I didn't realize it was a Christmas book until I got into it. (Obviously, someone didn't pay attention to the cover--*sheepishly raises hand*) Needless to say, I was swooning a quarter of the way into the story of London and Miles.

Just One Kiss is one of those books that you enjoy reading because it's just so right. The main characters are not broody nor hiding a deep dark secret. London is a genuinely sweet woman who writes for a living, and she's always just been a kind girl with very nice parents who raised her to be such. Miles brought up as a foster kid, is not bitter but has worked hard to become the talented artist that he is and has become quite successful.

A genuinely accidental reunion re-kindled crushes both had on each other, but neither was aware of. (I love that part) From there it is one delightful scene after another all the way to an exceptional HEA. As I said, this book is like a beautiful song that just makes your heart happy. I enjoy darker romances, angst, and a challenging read here and there, but this book is a lovely break, and everyone should take the time and revel in this joyful read.

Absolutely charming! This second chance Christmas romance will melt your heart!

While on her way to Vermont to spend Christmas with her family, London gets into an accident during a snowstorm. Her rescuer turns out to be Miles -- the shy loner she was friends with as a teenager who kissed her at a high school graduation party and then completely disappeared. She's never gotten over that kiss, and as it turns out, neither has Miles. That kiss got him through some incredibly lonely times, and he's been in love with her for years.

After never expecting to see London's lavender eyes ever again, Miles can't believe he has her all to himself in his cabin. Back in high school, she was the popular rich girl, and he was the foster kid from the wrong side of the tracks. He never thought he was good enough for London back then, and even though he's made something of himself as an adult, he still doesn't think he's deserving of her now. Add to that his insecurities of having been deserted by everyone in his life, and Miles is afraid to wish for something more now that he has London back in his arms. Will he get over his fears or risk losing the best thing that's ever happened to him for a second time?

Just One Kiss is an absolutely charming tale of second chances and the one that got away! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
