The Rev. Greg Thomas claimed that “the vandal was merely suffering from a mental illness and made no mention of the incident being a possible religious hate crime.”
Of course. For all too many people in the West, jihad simply doesn’t exist. The idea that a Muslim might want to tear down a cross because Muslims think it wrong and blasphemous to assert that Jesus died on a cross (cf. Qur’an 4:157) doesn’t exist for them. Most don’t even know that Islam teaches that. So of course the Rev. Greg Thomas ascribes this incident to mental illness. That it may be, but there is a clear pattern on the part of authorities of ascribing what are clearly jihad attacks to mental illness. If this were an attack motivated by Islam, would British officials and the establishment media ever even tell us?
“Reverend of Baptist Church Targeted by Man Who Tried to Tear Down Cross Expresses Sympathy for Vandal,” by Paul Joseph Watson, Summit News, October 19, 2020:
After a man was caught on camera and subsequently arrested for trying to tear down a Christian cross from the roof of a Baptist church in east London, the Reverend of the church played down the incident, asserting the vandal was just mentally ill.
The shocking footage, which went viral on Twitter yesterday, shows a man of Middle Eastern appearance trying to pull down a large wooden cross from the roof of the Chadwell Heath Baptist Church in Romford….
However, instead of defending the faith, Rev. Greg Thomas, the minister of the church, responded to the incident on Facebook by asserting the vandal was merely suffering from a mental illness and made no mention of the incident being a possible religious hate crime.
“Yes, the cross was vandalised,” wrote the Reverend. “However, when I caught him it became apparent very quickly that he was not at all mentally well.”
The Reverend added that he was pleased the vandal didn’t fall off the roof and hurt himself and that he will now be assessed and “hopefully receive the help he requires.”
“It was frustrating to have the church vandalised but material things can be fixed with ease. Had he lost his life that would have been tragic,” said the Reverend.
One wonders what the media’s response would have been if a white man had attacked a mosque in east London.
It’s extremely doubtful his actions would have been excused by merely labeling him “mentally ill”.
Agostino Armo Pellegrini says
Maybe he was only doing what Jesus taught, ” let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. ” lol.
Yep, he’s mentally ill! haha!
(Sorry, it was right there in front of me. Please don’t hate me :))

Grimly amusing, Agostino.

The reverend is denying facts, logic and critical thought in the matter of Islamic CROSS-HATRED. Muslims believe Isa (the Islamic Jesus) will return to BREAK THE CROSS … so they want to give him some help.
Truly, this is a religiously-motivated hate crime of vandalism against the CROSS … the very precious symbol of eternal salvation for the Christian.

Keep turning the other cheek and soon you won’t have a head.

Church minister is a strange creature, denying the truth to reinforce his piety! Pray!
Rufolino says
Christian churches everywhere, from the Vatican to the most remote parts, are hastening to adapt their faith to accommodate Islam. They find it much easier, and more politically correct, than to defend Christianity. They no doubt have noticed which way the wind is blowing.

This minister probably also thinks that at yesterday’s debate Trump was talking about packs of howling coyotes dragging children across the Mexican border into the U.S. There are large numbers of low information people in the world who think they are so smart and don’t realize how dumb they really are. The most dangerous disease in the world right now is not covid-19 but rather something else that affects the mind – ignorance and arrogance.

Agree. Still, it really is curious just how horrendously afflicted with Stockholm syndrome are religious nutters. (or is it just that they are naive, craven cowards?)
gravenimage says
Not all religious people are leftist dhimmis–too many are, though.
mortimer says
No, Peter, they are not ‘nutters’. They are trying to love their enemies.
Peter35 says
Mortimer, loving your enemy is not the brightest thing to do, especially if he is a moslem!
Mustapha crap says
I suppose technically the Vicar is correct, following Islam is a mental illness, anyone believing that garbage can’t be right in the noggin, and must therefore be a sandwich short of a picnic.
Keith O says
Mustapha, you read my mind. Basically anyone who willingly becomes a Mudslime is F#@ked in the head.
Templer says
This peace off invading scum should be jailed as a exspame kept in soltery coviment then deport Back to the Islamic shitwhole were it crawled from
Stephen Vosler says
The Vicar should have pressed charges. Clearly he was Muslim pandering. No, Pastor, it was not a mental illness, it’s called Jihad.

UK: Minister at church targeted by man who tore down cross expresses sympathy for the vandal
……………….
More and more “sympathy for the devil”, rather than for actual victims. Sickening but increasingly common.
Giacomo Latta says
Forgive them, Rev. Thomas, for they know not what they do.
Given your propensity for forgiveness and the fact that there are more than two million muslims in the world your plates should be full till you are 969 at least.
mortimer says
Forgiveness is the right course of action, but Jesus also said, ‘Be WISE AS SERPENTS!’
Many (not all) clergy are not wise and well-informed about jihad.
Beema says
Ultimate forgiveness come from God Almighty not from man, hence His ultimate judgment. this criminal must first seek forgiveness from the person he as wronged only then are we to offer our forgiveness. I believe Christians have got this forgiveness lesson all wrong.
Phil Copson says
Greg Thomas is expressing sympathy to someone who will despise him all the more for it, in the hopes that he won’t come back.
Jayell says
The minister here was presumably ‘turning the other cheek’ and ‘being good to those who hate him’, which is what Christians are commanded to do. No doubt this is based on the premise that this appeals to the opponent’s ‘better nature’ and defuses the aggression, except that the ‘better nature’ of the ‘good muslim’ here is already being demonstrated in the act of vandalising the church, as per the commands of islam. Maybe the minister in Chadwell Heath will eventually extend his Christian generosity and hand his church over to our ‘mentally ill’ friend and his chums to use as a mosque….assuming the church is still in one piece, that is.
Sophia says
I watched a video of a Sunday service of that church. Let’s just say that what that man did on the outside is a metaphor of what already happened on the inside.
mortimer says
All Muslims motivated by AL WALAA WAL BARAA and GHEIRA will appear to be out of their minds at the time they attack Christians and other ‘wrong-worshiping’ DIRTY KUFAAR whom they are required to hate ‘for the sake of Allah’.
IT’S THE IDEOLOGY, REVEREND!
OLD GUY says
I think it is funny how the liberals always seen to see violence against others by muslims as mental illness. Why they can’t see the true reason, that islam wants to dominate the world with its religion of violence and hate is beyond me. Sticking your head in the sand only exposes your ass to the islamic killers. .
Goofy says
In the Minister’s mind the Muslim was just exercising his religious freedom of expression just like the Muslims who devoutly cut off the heads of Christians to please Allah.
Who are we to judge to paraphrase pope Francis.

“a man of Middle Eastern appearance”
A “vandal”…
…or a “Saracen”? lol
Crusades Were Right says
“vandal”
The original Vandals were a German tribe – so how come we don’t see the wreckers of other people’s property called “mongols”, “turks”, or “arabs”, say?

Wild guess here:
Did the “mentally ill vandal” at some point in the proceedings mention – in Arabic – that God was just the bees knees, or something similar? lol
