I am so excited Sarina Bowen is continuing on with The Company series. After reading this one, I want even more of these books- especially Max’s story!
Gunnar is not a fan of NYC, but he’s back for a job. He is shocked that his assignment is going undercover as a barista in Posy’s Pie Shop. Posy is a girl he used to know in college. They were never truly together, but they had a ton of chemistry back in the day.
Posy needs a barista in the worst way but is hesitant about hiring Gunnar. They have a history and she’s still so attracted to him, but she gives him a chance. She has no idea what she’s in for with Gunnar back in her life.
I loved watching Posy and Gunnar fall for each other again. It was a sweet second chance for them to fall in love for real this time. Gunnar was tough and protective, but he showed a softer side of himself to Posy. I adored Posy. She was sweet, but so funny. I loved how she thought she was a bit of a detective towards the end of the book. It made me smile so big.
I can’t recommend the audiobook of this story enough. Joe Arden and Emma Wilder do a fantastic job bringing Posy and Gunnar to life. This was such a great listen and the audio was high quality.
If you’re a fan of sweet and swoony romances that will make you laugh and smile, but also have a great suspense element, pick up Loverboy.

I could not be happier we’re getting more books in this series! Sarina Bowen did romantic suspense so well in book one, Moonlighter. Loverboy is a great addition to the series, though I’m still dying to get Max’s book. Here, we’ve got a hero going undercover at a bakery, owned by none other than the girl he used to have a massive crush on. Gunnar is such a charmer and I loved his second chance with Posy! The intrigue was great, the romance was swoony – it’s another hit from Sarina Bowen.
Gunnar works for The Company and his latest assignment is to go undercover at Posy’s Pie Shop. Little does he know that THAT Posy is none other than the Posy he used to work with at the bar her family owned, the same Posy he crushed on and kissed, and the same Posy who took the higher paying role he was working for. But since he’s good at his job, he sweeps this all under the rug to get hired as a barista, never mind that he has no barista experience. But Posy herself is desperate and is willing to take on Gunnar to show him the ropes. She has no idea he’s being hired to watch for a security threat using her bakery’s wifi.
I had so much fun reading Loverboy! The romance was great – I enjoyed Gunnar and Posy’s characters so much. Gunnar is a sweet-talker and Posy is trying to be a good but strict boss, and failing to keep her feelings in check. There’s some intrigue and action just like there was in book one, but there’s not too much that it overtakes the romance. I loved the foodie aspect of this story, since most of the book takes place in Posy’s bakery. I honestly don’t have much to complain about. It’s a feel-good romance and if you’re a fan of Sarina Bowen, I’m sure you’ll love Loverboy.

I'm 100% sure that Sarina Bowen wrote this series for me. Or at least that's what my delusions say. All kidding aside, LOVERBOY is just another reason why I love this author so much. It just checks all my boxes.
I had the chance to listen to an early copy of the audiobook and let me tell you, Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin are SLAYING it. You actually hear Joe Arden's twinkle in his eyes. This man has so much charisma in his voice I can't recommend his narration enough. I'm new to Vanessa Edwin and I'm very pleased to report that she did a beautiful job with her portrayal of Posy. Sometimes I find it jarring when I hear a new voice narrating the male part in a chapter (takes a couple chapters until I don't notice anymore), that didn't happen here.
Now Gunnar and Posy I adored. They have some past baggage but they weren't overly antagonistic. Their chemistry is captured in fabulous banter and I could have listened to Posy's hormones, which hijack the mic (obviously), forever.
I loved how they dealt with their past. I hate drama that comes from miscommunication and misunderstandings because characters fail to explain what bothers them. That didn't happen here at all, their past issues were handled just like grown-ups do. Calm, collected, clear. That's something that stood out to me.
Also, is phantom smell a thing? I swear, the ongoing talk about coffee made me imagine smelling coffee everywhere. And if you aren't a coffee addict and aren't the least bit tempted to at least try one after Ms. Bowen's ODE TO THE BLACK GOLD I don't know what will.
Sarina Bowen mixes romance and suspense with a dash of mystery like a pro (duh!) and the result is a thrilling, captivating read that is on the lighter side and perfect to take your mind off the heavier things these days. This series is just awesome, fingers crossed we get many more books set in THE COMPANY in the future. I had the best time with these easy-to-love characters and hope you'll give this one a whirl!

This is fun. I can not help smiling and laughing while listening to the audiobook. Loverboy is a nice surprise to my slum reading lately.
Miss Bowen is not my go to author for NA romance. But after enjoying Loverboy, I think I want to read more of her books.
Loverboy is full of comedy banter and especially Gunther. He is a sexy man. Not brooding hero, but loyal, fun and sexy. He does not take himself seriously.
Overall a wonderful book to start my weekend.

Gah!! The second installment in the The Company series was just as good as the first one. I loved Gunnar and Posy right away. Their banter was fantastic and their chemistry was just as delicious. This second chance story was swoony, sexy and filled with secondary characters I can't wait to read about.
Posy and Gunnar were adorable. She was the perfect combination of sweet and sassy to his rugged protectiveness. I loved their history together and how this was their second chance. Loverboy hit all the right notes in the feels department and had me rooting for our couple from day one. Furthermore, I loved how realistic some aspects of the cyber threats were. It made this an even more addicting and compelling read.
Overall, Loverboy was a fantastic balance of humor, swoon, amazing banter and suspenseful moments. I seriously can't wait for more in this series (*Ahem* Max's story can't come soon enough!) 5 stars! ~Ratula

Oh my heavens. This series hooked me with Moonlighter, but it just completely stole my heart with Loverboy.
Gunnar. Hoo boy, y'all. This guy is just DELICIOUS! The perfect combination of protective alpha and empowering sweetheart. His devil-may-care attitude was completely irresistible and I absolutely adored him. Set against Posy's sweet, sassy spirit - they were just pure, bubbly, banterific perfection.
The balance of romance to thrill ride was spot on. When the action picked up, I found myself compulsively flipping pages, breath bated, hungry to unravel the mystery and hurtle toward the happy ending. It was exciting and fun and in the middle of all that, somehow sexy, heartwarming, and deeply romantic.
I feel like this series is just getting fired up and I am planting myself firmly in line for every single one. I love this team of deadly operatives (with hidden hearts of gold) and I'm already dying for more (because my heart is already half in love with Max, ay yi yi). I loved every moment I spent in this story, and the giant smile it left on my face. If you haven't checked out The Company yet - I enthusiastically recommend! ~ Shelly, 4.5 Stars

Back in New York with the guys from The Company.
This time it's Gunnar's story. We already met him in the previous book - he's boss man Max's bestie from college.
Gunnar used to live in New York. He grew up poor and worked as a barkeeper during college.
That's where he met Posy.
Fast forward one summer and after one amazing kiss he was fired and nothing ever started between them.
Now he's back in New York for his job ... working undercover - or rather trying to work - as a barista in Posy's fancy coffee and pie shop.
There's a murderer on the loose and someone seems to be sending murder-related emails from the coffee shop.
There's still this huge attraction between Posy & Gunnar, but we're all fifteen years older and wiser - we won't fall for each other again ... right?!

I loved reading this. I loved the whole pie/coffee shop vibe. I could almost smell the place.
I adored Posy and Gunnar. And Max! (I so need his story next!)
This was a great romantic & sexy suspensy mystery love story.
I can't really remember due to my bookalzheimers, but I think I liked the first book more. But I really liked this one too!
I could read these kinds of books every day for the rest of eternity!
I also wouldn't mind seeing this on Netflix one day!
Can't wait to get more Company soon! I need Max!

There are two tiny little things that bothered me a bit - and only me, don't worry. ☺
Sarina overused the words PLATE-GLASS-WINDOW. I mean, I can understand if it gets mentioned once or twice. But by the third of fourth time, couldn't you just say window? Front window? Shop window? Anything else.
And then the ANYWAY at the end of a sentence. You know the one I mean.
What's his deal, anyway?
What did he do in New York, anyway?
I hate that. No idea why. It sounds so not Sarina-ish, so ... immature or no idea. I just didn't like it, and it happened SO much, I stopped counting. But as I said - nobody will notice that - that's just my weird reading brain! ☺

It's been my second Sarina Bowen book and I want to buy all her books right now! Seriously, I'm definitely not kidding! I loved everything about Loverboy, just like I'd already loved Moonlighter. And, just like Moonlighter, this book is the perfect mix between romance and an understory that focuses on The Company and what they do - it's both romantic and so thrilling at the same time.
"He’s the kind of hot that knows he’s hot."
I may be a bit in love (and lust) with Gunnar right now. He's a charmer for sure, with that loverboy smile, and he's definitely hot. He's also very straightforward and he knows what he wants and how he wants it - yep, that's definitely hot as well. He's so flirty it makes me swoon, and he has this protective side that draws me in. Done. I'm sold. And so is Posy.
"For fifteen years I’ve needed this. I’ve needed her."
I understood Posy quite well, and what she's been through. She's a sweet girl whose ex-husband was an asshole. As a consequence, she's not very experienced, and she lacks confidence in her private life, even though she has it in spades when it comes to baking her pies. She's so sweet, and so trusting, one might even think she's too naïve to be with someone who works at The Company. And we'd all be wrong, because she is strong.
"Love. That’s the sum of joy and fear and desire all together."
They met each other at Posy's dad's bar 15 years before where they both worked, the rich girl and the guy trying to make ends meet. They were obviously attracted to each other, they kissed, and it was a big deal for both of them, but then Gunnar left. And the truth is that none of them ever got over what happened, because it felt right.
"'But sometimes in life you have to go off recipe.'"
When Gunnar goes back to NY to work on an assignment for Max, he doesn't realize he's going to see Posy again. And then he ends up working for her at her pie shop while undercover and he rediscovers who this woman is, just like she rediscovers who he is. And how they make sense together.
"'I’ll always be here to pick up the pieces.'"
Their story and the way it slowly unfolds is just about flawless. I love how Posy gets Gunnar to realize life is more than just work, and that it's OK to open up to someone and have someone in his life. I love how Gunnar gets Posy to see herself for who she really is, and how great she is in every way, by facing her own insecurities and those left there by people in her past.
This was their second chance at something good for a change. Their second chance at being together. And they grabbed it with both hands.
Just freaking perfect. Thank you, Ms. Bowen.
P.S. Special mention to the "hormone" silent comments. The hormones got me giggling! Loved it.

This was a fantastic listen! I have realized that as soon as I learn that Sarina Bowen is releasing a new book, I want it before I even know what it is about. Once I saw that this book was a second chance romance, I was even more eager to get my hands on it. I had pretty high expectations going into this book and they were all met. Sarina Bowen once again delivered an exciting romance with characters that quickly find a place in your heart.
Gunnar is back in New York City and hoping to get a job as a barista at Posy's pie shop. His real job is with The Company but he needs to go undercover to catch a murderer and needs to learn how to make some fancy coffee to do it. Posy just needs a barista that she can count on and isn't sure that she wants to work with Gunnar again after he left without a word after their one shared kiss. The attraction that they felt years ago is quickly rekindled as they spend time together once again.
I really liked the characters in this book. Posy was such a good woman and it really made me mad how the people in her life have treated her. She has dealt with a lot but just stays focused on what she needs to do to make her life better now. Gunnar was great. It was fun watching him charm Posy and to see the feelings he had towards her grow. I thought that these two had fantastic chemistry together and really seemed like they shared a deep connection.
I found the mystery to be very well done and couldn't figure out what Gunnar and The Company would eventually figure out. There were some pretty exciting scenes and I found that the other employees of The Company added a bit of fun to the story. I liked that there were a couple of mysteries to deal with and I was equally invested in both. I think that all of the elements of the story came together quite well.
The narrators did a wonderful job with this book. Joe Arden and Emma Wilder did such a good job with Gunnar and Posy. They were both able to completely bring these characters to life and added a lot of emotion into their reading. It was fun to get a quick performance from a third narrator who also did a great job. I believe that their narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.

Sweet, cute and slow burn, it didn’t manage to thrill or captivate me.
I didn’t want to read Posy’s discussions with her hormones and I didn’t enjoy the combination of romcom and suspense. Dnf @ 50%.

4.5 Please Be My Barista Stars

Sarina Bowen brings you a man you will want in your life. Gunnar is flirty, fun, caring, and has all the security stuff to make him super hot. He is easy, yet complicated. I adored him.

Another convert to the magic of java…

Like any Sarina Bowen fan will know, reading or listening to one of her stories has the potential to leave you with a big goofy smile on your face. I was goofy smiling all over the place. The love part of the story was sigh worthy and left me ‘ain’t love grand’ … ing. The murder, mystery, and mayhem part answered my questions but also left me wanting to know more. I don’t mind finishing a story mostly satisfied because I’m convinced we’re going to catch the baddies soon.
I am absolutely loving The Company series. My favourite part of Loverboy was the conversion of a non-coffee drinker to another believer of the magic of java. I, myself, love coffee, but unfortunately, I live in a house of coffee haters. (CRAZY BUGGERS!!) Even crazier is that they don’t even like the smell of it. I’m always saying to my boys … if you just give this one a try, it will change your mind. As yet, I have not had any success. Hubby is a lost cause, but I’m convinced that university could be the changing point for my sons.
This is a second chance romance and I thought it was done very well. The misunderstanding that stopped their attraction in its tracks when they were younger, was cleared up with a calm conversation now that they are older. I loved that the author handled it in an age appropriate way. No screaming or teary outbursts. Sure, there were times of contemplation remembering their feelings of hurt. It was obvious that both Gunner and Posy had grown a lot and were definitely in a better headspace.
The storyline was captivating, the connection between Posy and Gunner was obvious, and I definitely believed in their happy ever after. I enjoyed meeting the additional characters and admit to complete surprise when one of the mysteries was solved. Posy’s ex was a douchewaffle, and I hated how self-absorbed he was.
The narrators do an excellent job. I have listened to and enjoyed Joe Arden for a while now but I’m fairly new to Vanessa Edwin, and what I have listened to, I have enjoyed. I thought they worked well together, and I would not hesitate to listen to more of their narrations in the future. Emma Wilder has a very small part in this production, but her familiar voice was welcomed.
I’m starting to really settle in to listening to my advance copies. It does take a wee bit more concentration because I can’t afford to be distracted or lose my place. I find listening on my morning walk works well and an hour (or two… or three) dedicated listening during the day, works well too. The other day my son walked into my room and asked me why I play Candy Crush and Solitaire for hours. I explained to him that I like to be doing something as I listen but nothing that taxes my brain too much. I am getting to LEGEND status on Candy Crush. 😉
Another great story by Sarina Bowen and I can’t wait for more in The Company series. Fingers crossed we get Scout and Max up next.

I really loved the storyline of Loverboy because I love any type of suspense in a novel. As a reader, it is my kryptonite, and Sarina Bowen delivered a novel that has the charm of her books, with lovable character and sweet and steamy romance, while also having a plot line that was filled with mystery and intrigue.
Gunnar is completely adorable and charming. I loved seeing him in the coffee shop, making coffee and chatting with the customers. Not only was it endearing her the reader and heroine alike, it also allowed the author to develop his characterization in a real and authentic way. Bowen really nailed the sweet hero who can also protect you at all costs character. He was one of my more favorite Sarina Bowen heroes.
Posy was adorable. Her character and her hormones made me chuckle so many times while listening to audiobook, and while it was funny, I think it also allowed readers to connect with her in a real way. What really makes Posy an amazing heroine is that she stands back up when she has been knocked down. She doesn't sit around waiting to be saved or waiting for someone to fix her life. She is strong and saves herself.
The plot is a mix of fun, steamy, and suspenseful. Bowen moves through these parts expertly, and each aspect of the story flows into the other, providing a cohesive romance that is thoroughly entertaining.
Loverboy is a complete standalone in this brand new world, and I am really enjoying the characters and the more suspenseful elements involved with this series.
***If you love audiobooks, I would highly recommend this one. The narrators pull you into the story and work really well together as a pair. I found myself engaging with the story, feeling like I was a part of the world.

Loverboy es tipicamente una lectura ligera y sin drama que te hace pasar un momento estupendo, eso si, me quedo con el primer tomo, me parecio mas completo.
Tenia la idea preconcebida de que este segundo tomo seria similar al primero pero la realidad es que no pueden ser dos novelas mas diferentes, en esta ocasion, la trama es mas relajada y el romance aunque muy bonito y divertido, no tiene gran carga emocional, cosa que me sorprendio gratamente.
Gunner y Posy son una pareja hilarante. Creo que ella brilla un poquito mas que el, sobre todo porque su caracter es mas " especial ", me rei a carcajadas con sus conversaciones mentales, eran graciosisimas, y aunque Gunner no es horrible, si que me falto conocerlo mas intimamente, por eso digo que ella destaca un poco mas.
Este segundo tomo abre la puerta a la que sera la historia de Max, la cual estoy esperando con las expectativas a tope, ojala no me defraude y ojala Sarina Bowen la publique pronto, creo que sera muy interesante.
Sin duda, Loverboy es un libro mas simple de lo que imagine pero eso lejos de decepcionarme, me encanto. Si estas de humor para un romance sencillo y lindo con unos protagonistas geniales, te lo recomiendo.

Sarina Bowen is one of my top one click authors. It really doesn't matter what she writes, I have to read it and I know I'm going to love it. This series has had an interesting start, with the first one being almost a spin off from her hockey series. But more suspenseful and secretive and I've enjoyed the different style.
As far as this book goes, it's kind of weird because it feels more romantic suspense than the first one. Yet as soon as they started talking about the techy side of things it all came flooding back. I don't know if we met Gunnar in the first book and I can't remember him or if he was busy elsewhere.
I liked the history that Gunnar and Posy had but it did put me on edge. Gunnar had no plans to stick around and with his whole secret agent persona I was just waiting for him to break Posy's heart. So, with that in the back of my mind I was very hot and cold in my opinion of him.
Posy I had a huge girl crush on from the start. She was smart, sweet, and so optimistic yet everyone had let her down. But she didn't let that hold her back from going after what she wanted, and I really loved that about her.
The story kept me guessing to the very end. I was so focused on certain things that I missed other things. And it felt like the ultimate misdirect, but that might have also been the three-year-old who kept dragging my attention away every time I got to a good part.
I'm really enjoying this series. I seriously hope Max pulls his head out of his you know where soon. But I think his book might be one I need to read with wine. For now, I'm really dying for next year and the next True North book. Although seriously I'd read a toilet paper package if Sarina Bowen wrote it.

But he has a sensitive side that will melt your heart. Posy is resourceful and smart, strong and independent, but also vulnerable. They make such a wonderful couple, because despite their differences, they have more in common than they ever knew.
Gunnar and Posy are old rivals with enough chemistry to set her pie shop on fire. Their banter is witty, the attraction between them is palpable, and the anticipation will keep you on the edge of your seat. They have history, a single but earth-shifting kiss fifteen years ago, so the tension between them has been simmering for a very long time. And they’re about to explode.

She writes about good guys and strong women, and there’s nothing better than that, in my opinion. Gunnar and Posy are not the exception. And the side characters are just as compelling. That’s probably why I keep wanting to read their stories next.
Loverboy is a masterpiece. It’s the perfect combination of suspense, danger, romance and comedy. The plot is flawless, the setting is perfection, the characters are wonderful, and the story will keep you glued to the book until the end. It is unputdownable.
I know Ladykiller—Max and Scout’s story—is next, but I sincerely hope she has the time and inclination to keep writing in The Company’s world of espionage and cyber security, because it is definitely an amazing series, and she excels at it.
I would recommend this book, and series, to everyone who likes a bit of intrigue and danger with their romance. Seriously guys, Sarina Bowen writes the best book boyfriends. And if you’re into listening, the audiobook will blow your mind. It is so good!

Before I could post my review, I just had to reread this book. I re-listened to the audio (I couldn't wait longer than 2 weeks). I still had a book hangover!
I've never reread a book in such a short period of time.
I absolutely love this book. Ms Bowen's writing is so witty and full of great characters.There's suspense, romance and some funny moments. Very funny moments. Gunnar turns on the charm so easily. Posy calls him Loverboy.
I love Gunnar and Posy & all of the supporting characters- except Saroya & Posy's cheating douche canoe ex.
Oh, I also hate the bad guys!
Gunnar and Posy's romance doesn't get left behind. Their story is front and center. They have their past. Several years ago, Gunnar worked at the bar that was owned by Posy's father. Gunnar resented the owner's daughter but they were attracted to each other. They just never admitted it to the other.
Several years have gone by. Both are in their early 30s now.
Gunnar is such a charmer. The book opens with his POV. I love that- most books have the heroine's POV first. And, this is a standalone!
The first 8 or so chapters are a great set up for Gunnar and his partner Max's investigation of a crime spree. Max choses Gunnar to infiltrate Posy's bakery/cafe. Gunnar's application for the barista job and his training had me cracking up. There is so much dry, quick & witty humor. Gunnar is very smooth and good at what he does. Posy seems to be his weakness. Posy is very serious about making her business successful. She's had no help at all from her dad.
Posy's bakery in SoHo has Max & Gunnar's security business on high alert. Gunnar is assigned to check out Posy's bakery for the source of the internet activity mentioning criminal activity.
I love the progression of Posy and Gunnar's reconnection. A lot of mistaken assumptions are revealed.
Vanessa Edwin narrates Posy's chapters. She's excellent with the male voices too. I should mention she also narrates Posy's "hormones voice". I'm just saying, look out for chapter 19.... which leads to chapter 20 . (hot).
Joe Arden is outstanding as Gunnar. Gah, he has so much fun with Gunnar's rakish charm. The title Loverboy is a little misleading, since Gunnar is all in for Posy.
I loved the ending and the epilogue. I wanted Posy's ex to pay more for being such a jerk to her.
I'm ready for the next book in this series. I hope that it's Max and Scout. OMG, Scout is so kick ass. Look out Max!

I've never reread a book in such a short period of time.
I absolutely love this book. Ms Bowen's writing is so witty and full of great characters.There's suspense, romance and some funny moments. Very funny moments. Gunnar turns on the charm so easily. Posy calls him Loverboy.
I love Gunnar and Posy & all of the supporting characters- except Saroya & Posy's cheating douche canoe ex.
Oh, I also hate the bad guys!
Gunnar and Posy's romance doesn't get left behind. Their story is front and center. They have their past. Several years ago, Gunnar worked at the bar that was owned by Posy's father. Gunnar resented the owner's daughter but they were attracted to each other. They just never admitted it to the other.
Several years have gone by. Both are in their early 30s now.
Gunnar is such a charmer. The book opens with his POV. I love that- most books have the heroine's POV first. And, this is a standalone!
The first 8 or so chapters are a great set up for Gunnar and his partner Max's investigation of a crime spree. Max choses Gunnar to infiltrate Posy's bakery/cafe. Gunnar's application for the barista job and his training had me cracking up. There is so much dry, quick & witty humor. Gunnar is very smooth and good at what he does. Posy seems to be his weakness. Posy is very serious about making her business successful. She's had no help at all from her dad.
Posy's bakery in SoHo has Max & Gunnar's security business on high alert. Gunnar is assigned to check out Posy's bakery for the source of the internet activity mentioning criminal activity.
I love the progression of Posy and Gunnar's reconnection. A lot of mistaken assumptions are revealed.
Vanessa Edwin narrates Posy's chapters. She's excellent with the male voices too. I should mention she also narrates Posy's "hormones voice". I'm just saying, look out for chapter 19.... which leads to chapter 20 . (hot).
Joe Arden is outstanding as Gunnar. Gah, he has so much fun with Gunnar's rakish charm. The title Loverboy is a little misleading, since Gunnar is all in for Posy.
I loved the ending and the epilogue. I wanted Posy's ex to pay more for being such a jerk to her.
I'm ready for the next book in this series. I hope that it's Max and Scout. OMG, Scout is so kick ass. Look out Max!

Loverboy, the second book in Sarina Bowen's The Company Series is an addicting story full of suspense, mystery, humor and a TON of heat. I loved this book so much and the intense, passionate characters. The story-telling is stellar and impossible to put down.
Posy Paxton owns Posy's Pie Shop and is in desperate need of a coffee barista. She is running the shop on her own and just cannot keep up any longer. Out of the blue Gunnar Scott randomly shows up in her shop asking for a job. She reluctantly agrees to hire him even though they have a history and even though he is the worst coffee barista EVER! There is also the fact that he is really working undercover but he REALLY turns on the charm to convince her.
I loved Posy. She has a sweet side but also a fierce and protective side as well. It doesn’t take her long to figure out that Gunnar is keeping something from her that isn’t adding up. I loved how she follows her instincts and her heart where Gunnar is concerned.
Gunnar Scott is one of my most favourite heroes Sarina Bowen has ever written. He is the FULL package. A huge heart, insanely charming, sexy and irresistible. Max has just hired Gunnar to join his team at “The Company”. He is in need of some intel and undercover work in order to catch a dangerous criminal that is lurking from Max’s past.
Posy and Gunnar have an undeniable connection but they also some unresolved feelings to sort through due to a lack of communication from their past. I really liked how that was all handled, it was not at all drawn out or handled immaturity like sometimes can happen in a second chance love story. Their chemistry and banter I could not get enough of.
Joe Arden's sultry voice as Gunnar sucks you in from beginning to end, and Vanessa Edwin voices the sweetest Posy. Their chemistry was fabulous. I loved how easily their voices complimented each other. Incredible performances!
I am now more eager than ever for Max’s story! Fingers crossed he and Scout are next up in this amazing series!

Seriously, how does Sarina Bowen keep writing such amazing books?
I tried to listen to this while I was at work and couldn't keep the smile off my face (not that anyone can see it behind the mask, but that doesn't matter). Gunnar is absolutely one of my top Sarina men.
His ability to move behind the counter...and in the bedroom...are magical. And mesmerizing. And enrapturing.
I want one of my own.
Posy is sweet and kind and has that positive, up-beat attitude that makes you want to hug her and squeeze her and love her forever.
Okay, maybe I just want to be her bestie. But I also want to hug her and squeeze her.
This is another hit--you're gonna love The Company and everyone involved!

Loverboy was exactly the light diversion I needed. The co-owner of a cybersecurity agency goes undercover as a barista in a plucky heroine’s pie shop. Pie. Lattes. Mystery. Romance. Sold!
The romance between Gunnar and Posy is very sweet and while I wouldn’t have minded more spice, it was very much in keeping with the tone of the book. There's a somewhat intriguing mystery with a little suspense, but it’s nothing overly complex and I never felt like anyone was in real danger. However, I enjoyed the covert ops and spy gadgets that have become a big part of The Company series.
It seems like Bowen is weaving one (currently dangling) thread of mystery throughout the books in the series, and I’m curious to see how all the pieces fit together. Hopefully, we’ll get a book about Scout soon because I cannot wait to learn more about this cool lady and hopefully explore some of the sexual tension between her and The Company’s head honcho, Max.
I had the opportunity to listen to an advance listener copy of the audiobook narrated by Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin, and I enjoyed it very much. Joe Arden never disappoints me and I loved the giddiness that Vanessa Edwin infuses into the character of Posy.

Again, Sarina blows me away with this second book in
The Company.
The mystery plot was well balance with the romance journey. They were both represented really well with neither one overshadowing the other. This is a great series with a thrill factor just high enough to pique my interest (romantic suspense is normally not my jam but I don’t hate it lol).
It’s rare that I come across a Sarina book that isn’t for me, and this is not one of those times. As a matter of fact, she ticked off all kinds of feelgood boxes for me. The character’s banter was witty with minimal inner monologues. The plot was interesting and kept me interested. The story had spark as did our leads. It’s an overall #win for me :)

Now, THAT is an arresting sight! If that gorgeous guy on the cover didn't get you all hot and bothered, then maybe you should check your pulse for signs of life!
When looking for words to describe Sarina Bowen's latest gem, LOVERBOY, these came immediately to mind: Combustion: Hot, Hot Chemistry! Yearning: Steamy Slow Burn! Tantalizing Foreplay fueled by snappy, often hilarious banter - oh, and PIE, we mustn't forget the many decadent varieties of PIE that Posy tempted Gunnar with in her upscale SoHo coffee bar!!!
And THAT SCENE!!! (the scene ALL OF US WERE PANTING FOR?- just totally off the charts - and then it only got BETTER!! I thoroughly enjoyed this high energy story: it had literally everything AND the kitchen sink in it (plus freshly ground gourmet coffee!)
I needed this edge of your seat, addictive drama to pull me out of my reading slump. Sarina Bowen made Gunnar sound good enough to eat!!!! His Loverboy smile got him all the tips and broke down every one of Posy's defences. I was cheering like a fool when Posy and Gunnar finally had hot, angry sex after she discovered the truth!
And the good news is that even after all the eye-popping drama in the final few chapters of LOVERBOY , there is more to come: Xien Smith and Aga are still at large, and I suspect that Max and Scout may have a few more kickboxing rounds to fight - among other fun things to do on a mat! Do yourself a favour and disappear into this fun, spicy and totally badass read: Posy and Gunnar will stay with you long after you turn the last page. Highly recommended!

Gunnar is the VP and part owner of THE COMPANY, he runs the West Coast branch. When Max calls him with a new assignment in New York he gets on the first flight to his least favourite city in the world.
As soon as he arrives he finds out he has to work undercover as a barista for Posy, a woman who stole his job as the mananger at the Paxton’s fifteen year before, in order to catch a shrewd hacker who uses her pie bakery’s wifi.
It’s useless to say that they don't have good start at working together, because they don’t trust each orher but they are still attracted to each other even if they try to hide it.
Will Gunnar find the hacker before it’s too late? Or will he allow his feelings for Posy to interfere with his job?
I liked both the main characters, their banters are funny and their relationship grows and changes at a nice pace chapter after chapter..
I've really appreciated how Sarina Bowen has perfectly blended the romantic side of the story with the mystery and the suspense, these three ingredients make of this book a fabulous read. I cannot wait for next book in the series to be released.

Loverboy is the second book about The Company, but you can read it as a total stand alone. Gunnar is the classic "good time guy"-notorious flirt, hot as hell, and Posy missed her chance. But, now that she has ditched her no good husband and Gunnar is back in NYC, maybe he can clean her palate.
Gunnar works for the super secretive "Company" with Max Bayer and is called back to go undercover in Posy's new pie/coffee shop. He thinks Posy betrayed him years ago and he is still a tad bitter, but also he still thinks she is hot. Gunnar comes across as that hottie player who beds LOTS of women, leaves them satisfied, then is on to the next. Posy has just come out of a terrible marriage and has a horrid father, so it is easy to love her instantly. I liked Gunnar because he didn't try to hide the type of love em and leave em kind of guy he was, but I didn't think he would be good for Posy.
One thing I adore about this series is the suspense and Loverboy continues that tradition! I'm a huge romantic suspense fan and this series brings it. They are chasing a hacker and a killer in between pouring coffee with a foam butt. You get all the great dialogue Bowen is known for, great laughs and banter, but also a serious danger plotline.

His job was interesting and the reasons he came back into Posy's life, and the story behind all that, was a great mystery for the duration of the novel. Posy was a great character too. I liked their banter and their chemistry and this one just flowed really nicely.
I found this to be an easy read with likeable characters and some surprises thrown in that I didn't see coming. I liked the secondary characters and really want to get more books for each of them.
