Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is now positioning the Turkish military as the regional backbone of a “rebalanced new world order.” This news comes after Turkey took charge of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, which followed Turkey’s confirmation of an arms deal with Russia.
Turkey should have been ejected from NATO long ago; instead, it is strategically multiplying its regional and global power, with help from Western leaders.
Erdogan’s boast — “The Turkish military, with a past full of glory and honor, will continue to fulfill…the task assigned to them in our country and all over the world… I wish our soldiers success, who fight to preserve peace, calm and stability in many places from Syria to Libya, from Somalia to Kosovo, from Afghanistan to Qatar” — demonstrates again his ambition to revive the Ottoman Empire.
“Erdogan Positions Powerful Turkish Military As Backbone Of Regional Strategy,” by James M. Dorsey, Eurasia Review, January 6, 2021:
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ushered in the new year, pledging to employ his country’s military to secure Turkey’s place in a rebalanced new world order.
Mr. Erdogan spelled out his vision when he inserted himself on December 30 into an address by his defense minister, Hulusi Akar, to several hundred masked Turkish and Azeri military officers in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.
Speaking on the loudspeaker of Mr. Akar’s handphone that the defense minister held up to the microphone, Mr. Erdogan compared Turkish military interventions, foreign bases and/or participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions in lands of the former Soviet Union, Kosovo, Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Qatar to the creation during World War One of the Islamic Army of the Caucasus by Enver Pasha, the Ottoman war minister.
The Islamic Army captured Baku in the last days of World War One but failed to cement a basis for military support in the century since for pan-Turkist or Turanist ideologies that seek to unite peoples of Turkic origin.
Critics, nonetheless, assert that Turkish support for last year’s Caucasus war in which Azerbaijan defeated Armenia constituted a step in that direction.
Mr. Erdogan, however, appears to define Turkey’s place in a new world order as Turkish leadership of a broader Muslim world of which lands populated by Turkic ethnicities are part.
“The Turkish military, with a past full of glory and honor, will continue to fulfill…the task assigned to them in our country and all over the world… I wish our soldiers success, who fight to preserve peace, calm and stability in many places from Syria to Libya, from Somalia to Kosovo, from Afghanistan to Qatar,” Mr. Erdogan said.
Mr. Erdogan’s broader focus has not stopped his defense minister from stepping up meetings with representatives of Turkic minorities, until recently the preserve of a separate government department.
“Ankara’s interest in its ethnic kin abroad has markedly perked since the flare-up of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in late September,” said Turkish military analyst Metin Gurcan, referring to the disputed Armenian enclave that is legally part of Azerbaijan..
Mr. Erdogan made his Baku remarks against the backdrop of heightened strains with Iran, efforts by Turkey’s Mediterranean detractors backed by the United Arab Emirates to stymie Turkish efforts to expand its access to regional gas deposits, and domestic criticism of his massive expenditure on religious soft power at a time of economic hardship….

“Jihad – the afterlife – how to manage 72 virgins” ?

I may be alone, or nearly alone, in observing the similarity of the lead-up to WWII with the present. Then the standard view was one of total denial of reality. People chose to believe, in spite of all evidence and actions to the contrary that Germany, Japan and Italy wanted peace. “They just had some ‘issues’ that needed to be resolved through diplomacy!” It was nonsense then and it is nonsense now. Other, stronger, even vulgar words are more appropriate to express my feeling, but may not be appropriate to write here.
Islam has existed for the sole purpose of world conquest, slavery and death for 1400 years. It cannot change, because reform is treated as apostasy, punishable by death at the hands of any vigilante. As with WWII, there are multiple tyrants seeking to conquer us.
“Those who cannot remember the lessons of the past are condemned to repeat them”. Jorge Santayana, The Life of Reason (1905)

Excellent… Well stated.
john smith says
Frank, you are not alone in observing the similarities I also see them, lets just hope we are both wrong.
Frank Anderson says
Who was wrong then? I am by no means Winston Churchill. But I have 2 working eyes, 2 damaged but still working ears, a nose that can smell and what passes in some places for a mind. Did Neville Chamberlain have any of these working senses? Can we think of anyone now who has them; or is it easier to think of the thousands who don’t?
It is disgusting to observe how many millions of people refuse to see what has been openly before them for 1400 years, and between 250 and 1000 MILLION murders depending on who is estimating and the areas they consider.
john smith says
I think you may of misunderstood me, I didn’t say you were wrong, on the contrary I was agreeing with you.
Frank Anderson says
John we are in agreement. I hope more people will come to agree with us and work toward helping others understand and accept the reality of what has been taught and is the permanent goal we face, our total conquest, enslavement and destruction. Islam declared war on the world 1400 years ago. There is no peace. There is no tolerance. There is no compromise or reform. Any expectation of change is a delusion reflecting total ignorance of the foundation.

This is *very* apt, Frank and John. Robert Spencer has also pointed out the parallels.
James Lincoln says
Frank Anderson,
Islam’s threat to the West is similar to the lead up to World War II.
Yes.
The difference is only in the speed of the “lead up”: the Axis powers had prepared over several years, whereas muslims have been preparing for centuries – with an exponential increase in the last couple of decades…

The troubling thing is that no one is taking Erdogan seriously. I can see it coming, like a freight train that has lost its brakes. People didn’t take Hitler seriously either. When I bring up Turkey and Erdogan, people are very dismissive. They say Turkey is a small nation Well they have a large military.
Does anyone think the shared hatred of the Jews, and Christians, and an igniting fervour for the glory of Islamic world dominion is nothing? It will bring together many Islamic nations, probably under the Ottoman revival banner. They will join in to grab booty, and spread Islam. They will try and wipe Israel off the map! They will move to punish (and take over the energy fields of) non-compliant Arab states, those namely who want cooperation with Israel, and the West.
Frank Anderson says
S.C., we agree that a state of total denial is present for the vast majority of people. Viktor Frankl wrote about “the delusion of reprieve” that was used as a mental survival tool in Nazi death camps, pretending the rescue was coming if they just waited for it. For about 6 million, it did not. Many more stand to die if this delusion continues.

Roaches should be kicked out from nato . Turkey is the weakest link in the group and a member who can betray NATO any time for its ambitions.Roaches been a member of nato is the problem. Its members can’t attack each other meaning if a western state gets involved in the conflict and killed a roach that would be against nato charter and if Russia got involved and killed a roach technically nato has an obligation to defend roach and attack Russia. Christians are trapped either way and can’t help the Armenians from Islamic Jihadi manwhores.
This is clearly some toxicf geo strategic/ politic faggotry right here.

I wonder whether the Azeris are prepared for a Turkish conquest of their country. Also, I’m not sure how committed they are to the imamiyeh sect of shi’a Islam as opposed to sunni, but they can be sure that their Turkish overlords will try to convert them to sunni islam to be more compatible w/ the Turks themselves. Is that something that they’ll be okay w/, given that they’ve been secular for the 70 years of Soviet and 30 years of independence?
If not, don’t be surprised if a Turkey-Iran war breaks out. In which case, will NATO go to war w/ Iran on Turkey’s behalf? How about Biden – wouldn’t that sabotage his efforts to mend fences w/ Iran? Actually, in this case, I’d be happy for the US to improve relations w/ Iran if the main effect of that would be throwing Turkey under the bus. (Although I’d still oppose it for Israel’s sake)

The invasion and conquest of “Turkey”, by the civilized nations of the world, or more accurately, the LIBERATION of Turk-occupied Greece, Armenia, Assyria, Bulgaria, would go a long way to bringing stability and peace to the eastern Mediterranean for centuries.
The Turks have plenty of territory between the Caspian Sea and China. Think of the fun you can have, Mr Erdogan, deciding if you’re going to be a Kazakh or an Uzbekh or a Turkmen! After all, they’re all parts of the same Turkic Nation, right? lol
Infidel says
Especially since Erdogan celebrates the glory of the entire Turkic race, and Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are all members of his Turkic council.
Only problem – they include Uyghurs as well, and that would put him head to head w/ China. Speaking of which, he claims that Jerusalem belongs to his people, but he hasn’t dared put such claims on Qashqar, which was Turkic from Karakhanid times?
