One night was all it took for everything to change.
From college student to guardian in a single breath.
My siblings became my world.

No time for date nights or romantic dreams.
I traded quiet weekends for sleepless nights.
Giving my all to make sure they were cared for.

But Griffin had a brokenness that called to me—one that mirrored my own.
Gruff and just a little bit reckless.
He was the last thing I needed. But everything I wanted.

Only someone isn’t happy about this new life I’m building.
Deciding to set fire to everything I hold close.
And when the smoke clears, there might be only ashes left behind…

Wrecked Palace is book three in the Wrecked series by Catherine Cowles. In this book, we get Caelyn’s story. We’ve gotten hints of what her life was like and also the mysterious man she’s drawn to. Now it’s time for the whole story!

Six years ago, Caelyn O’Connor was in college when she got the call that changed her life. Her parents hadn’t been home in days and her siblings were in danger. She never hesitated for a second. She would be there for her two little sisters and her brother, give them a stable home, provide for them. She barely holds things together but they are happy and loved. Caelyn is now the manager at the little grocery store, The General Store, and does all the cooking at the little lunch counter in the store. Cooking is her passion.

When Griffin Lockwood was a boy, he lost everything. In the years since, he locked himself away from everyone. A few years ago, he returned to Anchor Island to the estate his family owned. It’s long since fallen into disrepair and he’s taken on the job of fixing it up by himself, one room at a time. One of the only times he leaves the property is to stop in to The General Store to see Caelyn. He barely speaks to her but just wants to see her.

“Maybe I was finding some pieces of myself again. The good parts that I’d left abandoned for far too long.”

When Griffin meets Caelyn’s little sisters, the youngest one immediately attaches herself to him. He feels a kinship with her sixteen year old brother. He sees so much of himself in him. All three of Caelyn’s siblings find their way into his heart. This family is awakening his heart, both bringing back painful memories and also the happy ones as well.

“Caelyn was a miracle, giving me back my family without even knowing it.”

When Caelyn and her family’s safety is threatened, she turns to Griffin for help. Every day that they are with Griffin, his heart melts just a little bit more. Together, they fill a void and become a family of sorts.

Once again Catherine Cowles has the perfect combination of sweet, swoony and suspenseful. Caelyn was such a positive force. She did everything in her power to make her siblings feel happy and loved. In return, they adored her. Even with her busy life, though, she still felt lonely. When Griffin came into their lives, he quickly became the missing piece to their family.

For Griffin, he had kept his heart closed off for so long, it was all he knew. But, the O’Connors broke right through and let in the light. There was no way he couldn’t fall in love. And when the people he loved needed protecting, he would do whatever it takes to keep them safe.

I loved every page of this book. Caelyn and Griffin were perfect together. The kids were all wonderful, each in their own individual way. I don’t think I’ve read a book of Catherine’s that I haven’t loved and this one joins the ranks. The next book in the series will be Reckless Refuge. I can’t wait!

Let’s get real here folks.

Why did this book had my crying within the first chapter and made me regret not being 22 years old and having to take care of three amazing little siblings after my drug addicts parents have left?

It wrecked me all right, but then it made it all better 🥺❤️

This was a beautiful and emotional romance read.

Caelyn was bringing up her 3 siblings and trying to provide the best she could although she was really struggling financially.
Griffin was grumpy and loner, due to the tragic loss of his family years ago.
They were two broken characters but as their relationship developed they were so perfect together.

Their journey had a lot of ups and downs, suspense, healing and great love.
Seeing Griffin gradually opening up and interacting with Caelyn's siblings were some of the most heartwarming scenes of the story.
The there adorable kids stole my heart from the start. The love and devotion they shared were strong and heartfelt.

The romantic aspect of the story was in the further background, it was extremely slow burn and had a lot of drama.

Veronica, thank you for the recommendation!! 🥰❤️

This was so cute!! I really love when the hero is ridiculously sweet and that's what Griffin was. Caelyn has been raising her younger siblings ever since she was in college and her parents went to prison. She missed out on a lot and dedicates her life to making money to support and raise them. Griffin immediately wants to help Caelyn and makes excuses to hire her for things and be around her. Griffin has a damaged past of his own that makes it really hard for him to open up to people. But I really enjoyed how much Griffin grew to care for Caelyn's siblings and just how sweet this romance was!

Wrecked Palace is the third book in Catherine Cowles ‘Wrecked’ series and by far the best in my opinion. I love books with kids in them and I really Caelyn and Griffin’s romance. The suspense aspect was a bit predictable imo and honestly I prefer my small town romances with a little less suspense, but I still really enjoyed this one!

Oh, it was so sweet! Realistic books are so hard to write, I believe but this was written beautifully.

Griffin and the Tiny Terrors was so damn adorable. If I had Tiny Terrors for my children or even siblings, I could have a dozen of them. They were such good kids.

Catherine Cowles has been the best new-to-me find of 2020. Her stories combine everything I love in a book - suspense/mystery, small town romance with steam, and gorgeous prose.

Griffin is a tortured hero to get behind, a man plagued by past mistakes with a heart. Seeing him succumb to his emotions for the heroine as well as the kids will have hearts melting and his protective nature will have you swooning.

Caelyn is an honorable heroine, struggling and moving along to take care of her siblings. I love that she consistently thinks of them and their needs, and tries to do what is best for them always. Her relationship with her siblings is one of the many reasons she was an endearing character.

The host of siblings provide so many wonderful and sweet moments in the story, and I loved that they were the catalyst for Griffin to open his heart to love again. The group of them becoming a family was one of the best parts of the story.

As with all of her stories, the plot is intriguing as it is interwoven with the romance plot line. Although, I had my suspicions, which were correct, I still had my audible gasp moments with the revelation. And as with any good romance, I do live for a heart warming conclusion, and Catherine Cowles delivers a fantastic HEA that wraps up the story and delivers the ending these characters all deserve.

Wrecked Palace, the third standalone in The Wrecked Series, is another stellar romance, hitting the romance trifecta - heart, steam, and suspense. I cannot get enough of this small town or Cowles’s
Writing.

****audio ARC - it was so good. The narrators are fantastic, pacing and good story telling. I listened to it multiple times. I think I’m up to three.

From the moment Griffin was introduced in the first book of the Wrecked Series I wanted his story. There’s nothing quite like a brooding hero to grab my attention. Yet, Wrecked Palace was beyond my expectations. Caelyn is a strong, likeable heroine blessed with a family of adorable kids who had me grinning throughout. And Griffin is so much more than I anticipated. He's more proof that good, kind heroes are sexy as hell! Their emotional small town romance is sizzling, addictive, and comforting too. All the feels!

A tortured hero, an inspirational heroine, suspense, and a slow-burn romance are the perfect recipe for a book that will utterly captivate readers. A must read for 2021!

First of all, romances with kids are my jam!!! And the kids in this one were all awesome, not just props but actual characters who added so much depth and feeling to this book

The mcs were both likeable, Griffin as the standoffish grump who slowly thaws as the family draws him out and Caelyn who sacrificed so much for her siblings and was a great mom to them. I did think her tears were cute in the beginning but it did get a bit annoying later on.

Having read the previous book today as well I will say there's some similarity in the characters, as a matter of fact the next book seems to be about 2 broken people coming together. All well and good but I hate when a plot seems to be recycled, especially as the drama stems from the past coming back. Either way the kids and the (very) slow burn relationship between the mcs made this one work for me

No cheating
Non manwhore hero (yay thank you author)

This was a good book. There was a lot about it that I really enjoyed - and not much that I didn’t (which is really saying something 😉)

I’m a sucker for a good damaged hero and Griffin was definitely that. What I really loved about the story though was how slow of a built up it was, especially in the romance department. Caelyn and Griffin were familiar with each other for years but Griffin was always living in a closed off bubble - and when he finally decided he’s ready to let someone in, he welcomes not only her, but her siblings into his life too.

I think that was a big thing that I liked - how prominent the kids were in the story. They were all main characters in themselves and I liked how it started with all of them just hanging out together, building up a routine and getting comfortable with each other - and super super slowly… the romance trickled in.

The suspense aspect definitely brought a lot of interesting elements to the story as well - especially getting to see Griffin become super protective of all of them. And even though I had my suspicions about the ending - it did keep me guessing which is always a fun bonus.

Overall, really solid romantic suspence story and it’s definitely my favorite one that I have read by this author so far (I’ve only read two of her other books, but still!)

Book #3 of the Wrecked Series

“Isn’t that what everyone hopes for? To have joy amidst all the trials. You give us joy, Griffin.”
His gaze burned into me. “You have no idea the joy you give me. You made this wrecked palace a home.”

“Never be ashamed of feeling deeply. It doesn’t make you weak. It makes you so incredibly strong.”

<><>Story Overview<><>
Caelyn is doing all she can to meet the needs of her siblings, but she’s struggling financially and feels like the weight of the world is on her shoulders.

When Griffin overhears Caelyn discuss her financial situation he comes up with a plan to help her out. As they begin to spend more time together, Caelyn and her siblings begin to penetrate Griffin’s heart.

When Caelyn and the kids are in danger, Griffin comes to the rescue. From that point on, there’s no denying these five have formed a family that won’t be torn apart.

<><>Characters<><>
<>Hero: Griffin Lockwood, Age: 37, Occupation: ??
~ When Griffin was a teenager, he lost his family in a boating accident. He came from a high profile California family and since the loss people have intruded on his privacy over and over. A few years ago he went back to Anchor Island to restore the family vacation home. He’s not much of a talker and keeps people at a distance.
~ “The farmhouse on Anchor had been the heart and soul of our family. Restoring it meant bringing my family back to life in the only way I could.”

<>Heroine Caelyn O’Connor:, Age: 27, Occupation: manager and sandwich maker at the local grocery store
~ Six years ago, Caelyn was in her junior year of college when she got a phone call that changed the path of her life. Since then, she has never regretted her decision to forgo her own dreams to care for her siblings. She has created a loving home and family for The Tiny Terrors (Will 16; Ava 10; & Mia 7) but barely scrapes by to make ends meet. She’s a health food nut and dreams of someday going to culinary school and having her own Deli shop.

<><>What I Liked<><>
~ The Tiny terrors - I loved all three of them.

~ so many cute moments between Griffin and Mia. My heart melted many times.

~ Caelyn was a great heroine. Things weren’t easy, but she remained positive. She had a backbone and stood up to mean people and gave them a piece of her mind when it was warranted. I could see where she would be a bit jealous of her friends and long for what they had - that’s just human nature. She was selfless over and over and I desperately wanted her to have someone good in her life to help her shoulder the responsibilities. She did a fantastic job raising the kids.
~ Caelyn to Will: “You make my life better than I could’ve dreamed. You always will. Even when you go to college. Even when you make a family of your own one day. You and the girls will always be my greatest joy, the people I’m most proud and happiest to see.”

~ I'm glad Griffin’s character was created with a loving family background. My heart really hurt for him for what he lost, but reliving his memories felt like a treasure.

~ Caelyn and Griffin were a good pairing. They had some common ground that made for a good foundation. They both understood the vicious nature of gossip. Caelyn needed someone who could help ease the burden of all that was on her shoulders. Griffin needed someone who could ease the burden of losing his family, of not being able to save his sister. They understood each other and filled the holes in each other’s lives.

~ this is a slow burn to the actual relationship, but it felt authentic to me so I didn’t mind.

<><>What I Didn’t Like<><>
~ I got the feeling that Griffin came from money, but that wasn’t something he shared with Caelyn. Why not?

~ to some extent I didn’t really feel like I knew Griffin. For example, what did he do as a career?

~ I didn't feel like I got good closure in regards to Caelyn’s dreams. Yes she gets to go on a trip. But is she ever going to go to culinary school or own her own Deli?

<><>The Basics<><>
- Content Warning: neglected children/bad parents, loss of loved ones,
- Setting: Anchor Island (near Washington)
- Do you need to read previous books in series?: I would say yes. In book one, the reader is introduced to three best friends (Bell, Caelyn and Kenna). The connection between these three girls was really established in that book. Seeing as the girls (and now Ford- H from book one and Crosby- H from book two) are very present in this book, the reader would benefit from reading this series in order.
- POV: Dual POV
- Hero likeable? yes. I loved Griffin and have added him to my book boyfriend list
- heroine likeable? I loved Caelyn. Her sacrifice, without resentment, made her an easy character to cheer for. Her strength and determination was inspiring
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 66%
- First time they sleep together: 84%
- Safe sex? No condoms used. They discussed the fact it's been a long time since either had been with anyone else. Also Caelyn was on the pill.
- First time they say I Love You: 88%
- steamy? Yes. Descriptive bedroom scenes
- Chemistry? they had good chemistry
- OW/OM drama? No
- H/h cheat? No
- Time apart? No
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? No
- Did I cry? I got a little emotional when Ava gave Griffin his birthday present
- Did I laugh? I smiled quite a bit. Mia brings joy to most scenes
- Did I swoon🥰? Yes definitely❣❣️
- Cliffhanger? No
- HEA? Yes
- Epilogue? Two months later
- Recommend? Yes. Even though I felt Griffin’s character wasn’t fully fleshed out, this was my favorite of the series so far. This family loved each other to the depths of their souls and they were willing to self sacrifice without complaint. Each one of them stole a little piece of my heart. Plus, the way the magic giant (aka Griffin) fit right in with them was pure perfectIon.

<><>Quotes<><>
“You have a kind heart, Griffin Lockwood. Even if you’d rather people didn’t see it.”

“It’s the things that are different about us that are the most special.”

“Did I just threaten her with my muffin basket?”
A grin split my face. “Honey, you scared the crap out of her with that basket.”
A small giggle escaped Caelyn. Then another. And soon, she had dissolved into laughter. “I just threatened someone with baked goods. Who am I?”

“As much hardship and pain as there is in the world, there’s also endless beauty.”

“Tears aren’t my strong suit.”
Mia leaned closer to him. “Why? They’re just letting the feelings out.”

“You can’t take on someone else’s brokenness. That’s theirs to carry.”

I was right — SO much better than the previous book! I actually finished reading this like a day ago but I needed some time to process what a stellar book this was and also, my workload has been HELL this weekend that I was only able to take a breather now. Anyway, I just KNEW this book was going to be good; I even called it in my review for the previous book. And a lot of my book friends apparently loved this too so I was really confident it was going to be riveting. And it was! I love it when my expectations for certain books are met. It’s pretty rare for it to happen to me, since having high expectations before reading a book isn’t very smart and can usually lead to disappointment. But I’m glad this wasn’t one of those and actually was able to keep up with said expectations. Really, I don’t want to give much away because it’s always better going in a book blind, but if you’re like me and are anal about safety, you can take a look at my content warnings below. Buuuttt if you’d rather go in blind but are somewhat still worried about safety, I can tell you now, you have nothing to worry about. It’s a rather safe book (but of course this is only my opinion, I’m aware every reader has a different level on the safety scale).

Caelyn and Griffin are now included in my most favorite book characters ever. They both just have such beautiful hearts and souls that have been through the wringer (understatement). My heart broke for them and everything they had to endure (more so for Griffin), that I just wanted to reach into the book, make them some hot cocoa, and engulf them both in massive bear hugs until the end of time. Like I said, I don’t wanna give much away, but just know that these two were have won me over big time. Also, it’s like they were made for each other. Soulmates, for lack of a better term. Or rather, it’s the perfect term for them. Not to mention, the tiny terrors… ugh they would steal your heart without even trying — at least that’s what happened with me. It really was no wonder they were able to worm their way into the heart of someone as closed-off and guarded as Griffin. And I lived for all their interactions with each other, especially Griffin with each one individually. Man, I was hooked from start to finish and I never once wanted to put the book down (if only I didn’t have to work nor sleep I probably wouldn’t have lol). And everything was tied up in the end with the prettiest, sparkliest, sweetest bow imaginable. Ugh, I loved it!!! (in case it wasn’t obvious yet lol)

PS: That extra/bonus epilogue sent by the author was just the perfect icing to top off this already beautiful cake.

Trigger Warnings:

MY HEART FEELS SO FULL AND YET IT FEELS EMPTY AT THE SAME TIME. APOORVA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?! Amazing Apoorva recommended this book to me and I adored it. The way she sold it to me was by telling me that this book had the grumpy/sunshine trope with a big guy who was bonding with children. I was so frustrated because I was interrupted so much while reading this, but luckily I had something to look forward to reading every day. This book had me crying all the tears, happy, sad, mad, everything. I literally turned into Caelyn, I was an emotional mess. The fact that I read the first chapter and the characters immediately won me over is just crazy, I suddenly had this need to protect them all, I was willing to give my kidneys away for these kids bruh. I can’t believe I cried right when I started this book. It’s an emotional read, super heartwarming, and very family-focused. This book does things differently since it focuses more on bonds and relationship building among characters, this romance book has a particular focus on the bonds between the main characters and the kids. The main characters have the healthiest, cutest relationship. I highly, highly recommend you check this out, it’s my first Catherine Cowles book and I can’t wait to read more by her. As for whether to read this as a stand-alone or not, you can definitely read this as a stand-alone since I haven’t even read the other books in this series. The characters from the other two books do play a role in this book but they’re all friends so they’re just there for one another (which I loved). I did wish I read the first two books at the beginning but I know they don’t have the tropes I like, I still might check those books out since I loved this one. But I’m gonna read the next book first when I’m in the mood for another heartwarming romance.

After a terrible event, Caelyn took custody of her siblings and gave up everything in order to make sure that her siblings grow up in a safe and stable household. She rarely has time for herself, doesn’t make a ton of money and expenses are piling up. Griffin has kept to himself after a tragic event that changed his life forever. He no longer wants to let people in, but always finds an excuse to go into the one place where he feels a small ray of sunshine.

I am gonna go into spoilers now. Y’all have been saved from my incoherent fangirl noises, unfortunately Apoorva had to hear it all hehehe

I had a blast, I will miss the characters and I am definitely rereading this at some point. Stay safe folks!

Wow. I am so completely and utterly in love with this book. Feels upon feels upon feels. This book wrapped me up in the biggest hug and comforted me in its warm embrace.

I was not at all surprised that I was taken with Caelyn. From the moment she was introduced in Reckless Memories I needed to know more about her. Caelyn’s story is one that touched my heart to the core. Her life changed in an instant and it made her grow-up faster than she was ready. But she took that change and made the best life possible for her siblings. She’d do anything and everything for them including putting her dreams on the back burner. She’s so selfless and caring and her strength is one not to be messed with. She has the biggest heart and it showed whenever she was with her siblings and friends. I loved her immensely.

Griffin stole every piece of my heart. Tragedy struck his life at a young age and it made him the grumpy and broody man he is now. He keeps to himself and that’s just the way he wants and likes it. But underneath the hardness he shows there’s so so so much more. He’s caring, thoughtful, protective, and just an all around amazing man. And finally after so much darkness, light entered his life in more ways than one.

Caelyn and Griffin brought all the feels. I loved the progression of their friendship and the slow buildup of something more. I loved how little by little they let each other in and found trust in one another. I felt their connection and the love they found in each other was just timeless. I couldn’t get over how perfect Caelyn and Griffin were for one another, they just clicked. And don’t even get me started with Will, Ava, and Mia. These three brought so much light and I just loved and adored the relationship between them and Griffin and of course also the strong bond with Caelyn. They made the perfect family.

Wrecked Palace is the third book in The Wrecked Series and I must say also my favorite. Catherine delivered a beautiful, heartfelt, emotional, and poignant friends to lovers romance. I was consumed with the writing and left spellbound. Another exceptional addition to the series, I can’t wait to see what’s next and I can’t wait to return to Anchor Island.

"Tell me the good things."

There’s something to be said about the first book of the year to give you the butterflies and the giggly smiles. That one that pulls at your heartstrings because you can only imagine the pain the characters have been through, only to be rewarded with a book-worthy HEA sent by Catherine Cowles. Cheesy? Maybe, but this girl can write! This book was that book for me. I honestly needed this book. I had wanted it for so long, but I didn't realize how badly I needed it, so by the time I settled into it - it did wonders for my mental self. I'm always inside my own head, so escaping into a book has always been a nice getaway for me. This one provided all that and more.

Cowles is a real energizing writer. She's proven time and again her ability to not only facilitate a great storyline, but emote it exceptionally well. I got caught up - completely enamored with her characters, her plot, and even the drama. It all meshed well for me in this one, working in tandem with each factor. After meeting Griffin at the end of PERFECT WRECKAGE and how he entered the storyline, I knew this book was going to have me on the edge of my seat while I read it.

I know I’m always screaming about the love a man has for his woman being my favorite part or reading romance. A good love story cannot be a true love story without a man that makes me weak in the knees. Griffin was all that and more. He was protective and a perfect gentleman, standing up when needed and providing a silent strength when warranted. He was literally perfect. I fell hard in love with him. The realization of the true feelings these two had for one another was a slow process, but an emotional one. When I can feel the emotions I’m reading, that’s the best part. That’s an author that’s really in touch with their story - so much so that they’re bleeding those emotions directly onto the page. Cowles delivered that effortlessly, yet again.

Griffin and Caelyn's gradual wander through their friendship and the actual culmination of their relationship was uncovered organically. This was the perfect example of a slow burn. I liked the way they tip-toed around everything and almost reluctantly but enthusiastically made their way towards each other. It was a slow dance, for sure. It wasn't forced by any means, given the time this book traversed, so it flowed really well and accounted for the drive of their feelings and how it affected their decisions.

ONE struggle : I did feel like I struggled somewhat with Caelyn's jealousy for what she longed for in regards to her relationship. I know that sounds harsh to say but as much as she talked about it, it was bothersome for me. I think mainly because in setting up her desires, it felt repetitive and unnecessary, but also that she almost held it against the ones she loved - but I know she wasn't really. I don't know. I know she wasn't....but it felt like she was. *wrings hands* I struggled. Ugh. I'm sorry. Sorry. *hides* We knew her end goal. We knew where her loyalty lay. She had an amazing amount of responsibility, so looking forward to the one true love she knew was out there was the entire goal of the book. And Griffin answered that call so amazingly well. They suited each other. They were ideal for each other. Their need to take things at their own pace set the tone for the book perfectly well.

The characters were so good, and so well written. The kids were super cute. The plot played out and was easily followed. I mean, the story is still sitting with me and I'm still smiling thinking about it - and that is what drives my excitement most of all.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. I LOVED GRIFFIN SO SO MUCH. I LOVED CAELYN AND THE KIDS. I LOVED THIS BOOK SO SO SO MUCH!! Yes, I am shouting. Yes, I am excited. Yes, I can't wait for everyone to read this. Such a great, feel-good, smile inducing book - it check all the boxes for me. SO good.

Catherine Cowles is a must read - a guaranteed great read. She incorporates love, life and laughter into every book with a good dose of emotions and suspense. I really enjoy her writing and have read every single one of her books, but this one has to be my favorite one so far. Favorite. I am looking forward to Shay's story in RECKLESS REFUGE, her next release in this standalone series.

Wrecked Palace is the third installment in the Wrecked series by Catherine Cowles. Told in dual perspectives, this is Caelyn O'Connor and Griffin Lockwood's story. A sweet, swoony, angsty and suspenseful story that was a major hit to the feels.

Caelyn is such an awe-inspiring character. She is so strong, selfless and caring. When her parents proved to be unfit and a danger to her siblings, she took on the role of legal guardian. She put her own dreams aside to make sure that they were cared for and loved. She has one of the biggest hearts and it showed in everything that she did. I absolutely loved her.

Griffin completely stole my heart. Tragedy struck his life at a young age, and he has never been the same. He is broody, aloof and completely broken. He keeps to himself, restoring his family's estate and rarely goes out unless it's to the general store. It's there he strikes up a friendship with Caelyn, who slowly brings light back into his dark world.

I loved each and every word of this story. Caelyn and Griffin were the perfect pair. Both of them had such heartbreaking pasts that broke my heart a million times over. But together they were able to help each other heal. Once again, Catherine Cowles has given us a beautifully written romance that's packed with feels upon feels. Five stars for Caelyn, Griffin, the Little Terrors and Wrecked Palace!

4.5 stars.

Hi, just give me 2 mins to tidy myself up cause I’m a mess after reading this book. Oh who am i kidding it might take me hours to get myself in the right mindset so if this review doesn’t make sense, i love you, okay?

Now where to start? Lets start with the fact that I had my comfort teddy bear (don’t judge i need hugs) but that still didn’t help me or stop me from crying my eyes out. This was an emotional read for me. A very, very emotional read for me. I was crying for Caelyn and Griffin and Will and Mia and Ava. Okay so in short words, I was crying for everyone besides the bad guys.

I can’t imagine having a past like Griffin and Caelyn but still opening upto someone else. I NEED a love and friendship like that. I loved the relationship Griffin shared with the kids and the fact that this guy was going around wearing rainbow bracelets bec Mia made that for him😭😭 Griffin was something else! Where can i find myself a Griffin?

Caelyn was the epitome of strength and I couldn’t help but love her and want to hug her so all the troubles she was facing could just leave her the fuck alone. No one can hurt my babies😌🔪

“I guess we’ll just have to be a little monstrous together.”

If you’re in a mood for heartbreaking romance, give this a shot!❤️

Wrecked Palace by Catherine Cowles
1/5🌶️
5/5⭐

"You’ve given me so much, and you just keep piling it on. All this goodness and light and life."

My first 5⭐ of the year!! Yay!!🙌
In the third installment of the Wrecked series, we get to know Caelyn and Griffin better. Griffin has been a part of the series since the first book. He is the one who saved Ford from an attack. Meanwhile, Caelyn is Bell and Kenna's best friend. She's gone through a lot, dropping out of college to take care of her siblings.

Caelyn has a personality that is positive and compassionate. Her warm and welcoming personality is simply infectious, and she has a genuine passion of cooking healthy and delicious food. What truly sets her apart is her unweaving dedication to her siblings. She always goes above and beyond to ensure that they are happy and loved, and her selfishness is truly remarkable. The bond that Caelyn shares with her siblings is absolutely endearing.

"Everything I see in you challenges me to do better. Be better. I want this with you. I don’t know for sure where it will lead. But I want to find out."

Griffin is not a very social person and tends to be grumpy and distant. This is due to the tragic loss of his family, which left him not wanting to form close relationships with anyone. I felt a lot of empathy for him and what he went through. It was lovely to see how he formed a bond with each of Carlyn's siblings, despite his initial reluctance. Watching him slowly open up and interact with them was one of the most touching parts of the story🥺

The presence of the kids in the story was very appealing to me. Their affection and loyalty towards each other was genuine and powerful. It was heartwarming to see all of them establish a routine and become comfortable in each other's company. There were several moments while reading this book where my heart was moved, and I felt swept up in the emotion of the story.

"Some part of me recognized that you were the one person who could understand me. Who could help me find my way back."

This is, without a doubt, my favorite story by this author. I really enjoyed how Caelyn and Griffin complemented each other so well. They were always there to support, heal, and help one another. And of course the tiny terrors are great addition. The highlight of this story was when the group of them formed a family🥰

"She’s this soft place to land that I didn’t think I’d ever have. She’s unconditional acceptance and complete trust."

5* Emotional Stars

Caelyn and Griffin’s story was so heartfelt and emotional that I was captured from the first page until the last page was read.

Both of them had been dealt such hardships in their lives and their wounds were so deep that they did not believe that they were worthy of love or happiness. It was magical watching Caelyn and broody Griffin transform from friends to lovers. This slow burn romance had some suspense to it which I enjoyed.

This wonderful story was abundant with family and friends who loved and protected each other fiercely. Caelyn’s siblings were so special and loveable.

I highly recommend this well written beautiful story of deserving love which has all the feels that come with it. A wonderful addition to the Wrecked Series.

Catherine Cowles delivers another heart stopping read! Wrecked Palace is another perfect read from this amazing author! This series just keeps getting better and better and I want all the books!

Wrecked Palace feature our favorite gal pal Caelyn and her siblings. The story is so full of emotion and heart that I could not put it down. I literally sat on the couch and devoured this book over the course of 24 hours.

This is the couple I've been waiting for! I knew from the very beginning that I'd lose my heart to Griffin and that’s exactly what happened!! He's broody, aloof, broken, and absolute perfection! My heart will never be the same. I left a little piece between the pages of this emotionally charged and expertly written story.

Here's what I loved:
Griffin's back story…gah... it just takes your breath away. Coupled with the way people on the island respond to him and treat him. I had no choice, but to fall hard. But most important of all is how he is with Caelyn and the kids. They have a profound effect on him and vice versa.

Caelyn is the embodiment of love and self-sacrifice. Getting to know her over the course of the series piqued my interest. Learning how her family came to be in the situation we find them in was equally as heartbreaking as Griffin’s story. Therefore, its no surprise that I’m supremely ecstatic that these two beautiful souls find solace in each other.

The suspense element of the story stole my breath. I knew I should have been prepared, but it was complete surprise that I loved!

Overall, it was amazing! This story has all the angst and heart and I highly recommend it!

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.

Introduction
Wrecked Palace is the third installment in the "Wrecked" series. Now this book focuses on a mix of grumpy sunshine, unrequited love and friends to lovers mashup. After finishing this book I do think that this is one of the best books that I have read from this one. I took my time with this one, because it was so easy to get into and I fell so hard for all the characters that come into play and I never wanted this story to end. It deals with some challenging issues, and from the beginning, this author will work on your emotions in a way that only Catherine Cowles can handle. The steam is a bit lower if you haven't read this author before. I personally don't mind, because I don't need smexy scene to receive a satisfying romance and Cowles really delivers all the way on these here.

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Griffin
Griffin lost all of his family, has been hounded by reporters and betrayed by many he trusted over the year. He is a bit of a lone wolf, and a tortured soul who doesn't trust easily.

The Heroine: Caelyn
A sister whose parents got into drugs, and she took guardianship over her siblings. She sacrifices everything to give her siblings a safe and happy home life. Family is everything to her.

Summary
When Caelyn gets a scary call from her young brother, where their home is attacked, parents disappeared and their lives in danger, Caelyn gives up her college dreams to take care of her siblings . Now its been five years later, and her siblings are getting settled in their lives with her. Caelyn has a bit of a crush on the lone wolf of the town, Griffin, who has a gruff quiet exterior, barely speaks two words, but is a child whisperer to her siblings. What starts out as a soft careful friendship, turns into something more, but there is a danger involving the crimes of their parents, and will Griff and Caelyn be able to protect their family against the dangers ahead...

My Outlook
I absolutely loved this book so deeply. If you have a deep love for small town romances with suspense elements that are blended in, then I do think you will love this book and this author. If you love Melissa Foster or Jennifer Ryan, I recommend this author. This is a unrequited love, a bit of a slow burn, with a friends to lovers tropes that are involved, with some grumpy sunshine. Quite frankly, you combine all of these elements and you will find a powerhouse of a read. And also if you are endeared by strong emotions being conveyed, then look no further than this one here. From the very beginning, this author had me crying all over the place. The prologue itself, will instantly pull you into the story.

I would call this a contemporary small-town romance with suspenseful elements placed into the story. I am not sure that I would call it romantic suspense because it's not the primary focus, its more on the side lines. I really enjoy how this author implements suspenseful elements into her stories. Its not going to take away from the relationship development from the couple, and is more just to build up the plot and its done in a way that addicts you to the story so even if you don't care for romantic suspense, I do recommend this author because of the way she builds it throughout the story will work for you.

Now what is the most appealing about this story is the emotional/heart aspects of the story. The author really digs deep and portrays emotion so vividly that you feel it in every chapter. The characters are so relatable with true human struggles that you connect with instantly, the atmospheric vibes of the story are portrayed in such a way that will bring the story to life and deals with all aspects of the human condition both good and bad. There is such well development that we see with both Griff and Caelyn that you will be cheering this couple on all the way through. The side characters were so endearing, and even the heartbreaking story of the man that broke into their home, I wanted to know more about him and his redemption. We see the lives of these children that Caelyn has raised and the way that they charm the hero and really bring him to the surface of opening himself up to love again was so poignant and your heart breaks for his struggles. The hero and heroine and able to really connect because their struggles are similar, they both understand the hardship of what they have both lost and struggled through. And when they finally get together, their relationship blossoms so beautifully. You can just feel their connection and its well fleshed out. This is the type of slow burn romances that we need more.

Now was there anything negative to the story itself? I wouldn't say so. I think if I could have changed or added anything to the story it would be a bit longer of a epilogue and more focus on the hero's journey just a bit. There was one plot hole that I discovered, or maybe I missed it, but in reference to the hero repairing the desk for the hero that had a connection to him and his sister and we never really saw a scene with her giving that to him so I would have loved to see that scene. If I missed it, let me know where to find it haha But these factors didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story so it's still a five-star read for me.

Overall View
Wrecked Palace is a deeply resonating read that speaks to the human condition in a heartfelt way. Its a story of healing and opening yourself up to new opportunites and most importantly ....love!

This series just gets better and better. This couple omg. They just might be my new favorite by CC! The grumpy/sunshine vibes were so on point. I adored these two and watching them fall in love.

And the fact there were kids in the scenario melting Griffin’s heart just melted mine too! It was so amazing. I can’t wait to reread this one!

Seriously, the emotion, the amazing friendship between our MCs, the way Griffin would do anything to protect Caelyn and her brothers!! Gah, I swooned so hard over Griffin!! He just completely owned my heart throughout the whole book. And Caelyn, what an amazing woman. I loved her so much too. The way she would do anything for the people she loves. The way she gave so so much of herself to others. The way she protected Griffin from the town. These two were just always there for each other and I loved every second of it.

Catherine never fails to bring us amazing characters, deep and emotional story lines that will just hit you in all the feels. Wrecked Palace was another winner in this incredible series. And I can’t wait to get more of it!

I loved this!! My second read by Catherine Cowles and oh man, I do believe I've found me a new author to binge!!!

It may be just my hormonies, but this was way more emotional than I was expecting. Did Catherine Cowles get this robot to tear up??

I absolutely loved Caelyn and Griffin together. The slow burn was delicious in its sweetness.

I related to Caelyn so much. I understand what it's like to care for your family and love them with your whole heart, but still wish you had someone to help you carry that responsibility. To feel like you were part of a team and that you had someone to lean on.

And sweet, heartbroken, and guarded Griffin was the perfect partner. Caelyn and her siblings were a pathway to the memories of the family that he tragically lost. He needed to bring his feelings to the surface, to revel in those forgotten memories so he could heal instead of hurt.

The suspense element had me rolling my eyes, but I'm beginning to think that this is just Catherine Cowles's thing. I really wish it weren't though. I feel like she doesn't think that element all the way through. There's no need for it. The rest of the story is great without it.
