The powers-that-be have sent out their talking points, and now the Propaganda Ministry is pulling out all the stops to propagate them among Americans. My latest in American Greatness:
No one knows where these talking points come from, but it’s quite clear where they’re going. The political and media elites have wholeheartedly embraced the strategy of likening the January 6 Capitol rioters (and by extension, all of Donald Trump supporters) to al-Qaeda and President Trump himself to Osama bin Laden.
It’s as ridiculous as it is offensive, but the agenda is clear: marginalize, silence, and ultimately criminalize all dissent from the far-Left agenda, under the guise of “protecting our democracy.”
One of the leading propagators of this myth has been, not surprisingly, disgraced former FBI Director James Comey, who said this on “The View” Friday about the Capitol rioters: “They are terrorists. They are people bent on coercing a civilian government—attacking our democracy—because of their warped view of reality.”
It was, he said, all Trump’s fault: “This is how al-Qaida radicalized: a constant, constant torrent of lies at vulnerable people. Well, we have millions of vulnerable people in this country who’ve consumed these lies, and some portion of them have been radicalized to the point where they believe they’re on the side of the angels and have to engage in violence directed against us. So it’s a serious threat, it’s a terrorist threat, and Donald Trump and his enablers—we want to make sure we keep the receipts, ’cause a lot of people are going to deny they had any connection to it come a few months from now—but that group of people has radicalized a group of terrorists.”
Comey did not originate this comparison. Back on January 12, former Homeland Security Department official Juliette Kayyem (who almost certainly didn’t originate it, either) wrote:
Keeping Trump in office until January 20 won’t assuage the supporters who falsely believe that the election was stolen from him, but removing him from office a week early would emphasize that he is losing. Recruitment is easier for a winning team. As the Islamic State and al-Qaeda both discovered after their apexes, getting people to take up arms is harder when the cause is in decline.
That same day, Kayyem tweeted: “Trump is the spiritual leader for domestic terrorists and he is their operational leader. He tells them what to do. Now, total isolation. 25th A. Yes. Impeachment. Yes. Deplatforming. Yes. We are still in the tactical phase of a counterterrorism effort. Enough with unity.”

These Scumbags, don’t have to worry about anything, because we pay everything for them through our taxes. Why don’t they have the same medical, care that the normal people, have, when ,everybody lose money, and they still get paid. They have bodyguards to protect them when they want to take everyone’s guns away. I say it’s time we take their freedoms away come to our level and see what it’s like if you dare

they are all speaking the same language, but there are cracks….she said, “enough with unity.”
and pelosi said it was more important to try Mr. Trump than to carry out her president’s agenda in the House.
What they are saying is so totally full of nonsense. Those people who didn’t want biden, who didn’t want harris….want the freedoms that the Constitution guarantees to Americans. Those who objected to the violence, the arsons, the riots, the shootings, the attacks on Federal buildings, are the very same people now being labeled as ‘domestic terrorists.’
I have noticed that they don’t use the word “Constitution” when they are talking about what is being “attacked” and that supporters of Mr. Trump are “trying to destroy.” They all say “democracy.” Democracy does not guarantee freedom of speech, nor freedom of religion.
Some dem organizations are even wanting to charge Mr. Trump with “treason.” Definition: crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government. intentionally betraying one’s allegiance by levying war against the government or giving aid or comfort to its enemies.
Mr. Horowitz was right when he wrote the book, “Dark Agenda.” But, destruction of Christianity will not happen. They may destroy the U.S. and turn it into the kind of places that the Pilgrims and others left to come to these shores, but they will not destroy what Christ built.
mortimer says
SH raises many good points. ‘Democracy doesn’t guarantee freedoms’ … a constitution does. They want to change the constitution in order to deny freedoms to their opponents.
Hitler did this in 1933 by PHASING IN or SYNCHRONIZING all ideology in Germany.
The ‘phasing in’ of political correctness and ‘switching off’ of dissident thought is the meaning of the Nazi term of GLEICHSCHALTUNG.
Historian Claudia Koonz explains that the word ‘Gleichschaltung’ stems from the arena of electricity, where it refers to converting power from alternating current to direct current, which is called “rectification” in English; the word Gleichschaltung translates literally as “phasing”. Used in its socio-political sense, Gleichschaltung has no equivalent in any other language. Other similar terms were also used by the Nazis, such as Ausschaltung, which constituted the removal or “switching off” of anyone who stained or soiled the German nation. This seemingly clinical terminology captured both the mechanical and biological implications for members of German society, as one German citizen visiting London explained, “It means the same stream will flow through the ethnic body politic [Volkskörper].”
Gleichschaltung is thus the forcible orientation of all political, social and governmental organizations towards a single political line. It was quickly imposed during the 20 months following 30 January 1933, when Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany.
The term Gleichschaltung was created by and for Hitler’s National Socialists and historically has its chief significance in relation to Germany in the 1930s.
The Nazis imposed SYSTEMIC “Gleichschaltung” in the field of culture and the media in order to consolidate public opinion in support of their sole political control over all public and private associations in Germany. No one could get work, gain licenses or be promoted if they did not submit to “Gleichschaltung”
IanB says
Thank you mortimer for your insight and explanation. This explains a lot about what I see and hear in the UK. This has been developing here for years.
Phil Copson says
Hadn’t heard the term “Gleichshaltung” before, but enforcing “Right-think” and criminalising “Wrong-think” is the dream of power-mad dim-wits such as Harris, AOC, Corbyn, Dan Andrews etc everywhere. Some – such as Kim Jong-Un – actually achieve it.
(In the days after the Brexit vote of 23/6/16 – (that’s Day/Month/Year, by-the-way, for the benefit of those who’ve grown up with the barmy, out-of-sequence Month/Day/Year format… ) – there was an interview with a young girl attending an anti-Brexit protest in London: Other than being deluded, Holly seemed to be a perfectly nice young lady, but there was something really creepy and disturbing about her wide-eyed wish for “a society where everyone believes the same things.” Let’s hope that her and the Establishment’s wish never comes true.)
James Lincoln says
I remember the video, Phil.
I don’t believe that the young lady actually listened to what she was saying.
Beyond disturbing…

somehistory,
I’m not an attorney, but it appears to me that the U.S. Constitution was shredded during the 2020 US Presidential Election.
Four states – Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin – did not follow the U.S. Constitution because their respective election rules were modified without going through their respective state legislatures.
And the US Supreme Court would not even hear the case – due to lack of “standing”.
Yet they take on cases about gay wedding cakes…
somehistory says
You are right, JL.
The “standing” was there, they just chose to ignore it. In the first case, Alito and Thomas wanted to hear the arguments, but were outnumbered.
The Constitution means nothing to those who wish to control everything.
Like in those ads where we are told “you will not own anything,”…not even your clothes. Guess we’ll be renting our food too.
If we were to be evicted, they take away our car, and our clothes, what could we do? If we don’t own anything?
The case of the baker in CO and the “wedding” cake he refused on Biblical principles to bake, was a clue as to where we are all headed. The State kept taking him to court for the same thing….and that is prohibited by the Constitution.
When the Court ruled against them, they ignored the rulings. When it went along, they championed it; even when it refused to hear the case, they claimed that it had ruled on it.
somehistory says
I don’t recall exactly when it was decided that a person could be tried twice…once in State court and then again in Federal court…but this was called by some as “double-jeopardy.” Those who advocated for the practice seemed to have a good reason…get mobsters, murderers, kidnappers, etc., one way or another, but those against it said it set a bad precedent…and is unconstitutional.
Wellington says
Very on target comment, James. Instructive that the Democrats and their de facto Democratic arm, the MSM, for years pursued a phony Russian collusion hoax by the Trump campaign based on zero evidence but now with mountains of evidence, including what you mentioned above, every non-polling metric going for Trump and in a state like Pennsylvania 30 times fewer mail-in-ballots rejected than in 2016, we’re being told to move on and, if we don’t, then we are being called nut jobs, conspiracy loons, etc.—classic gaslighting. Oh yeah, the fix was in and Biden was fraudulently elected President.
somehistory says
“Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Sunday declared there was a “great deal of evidence of fraud” and illegal election law changes that merit a “thorough investigation.”
In a contentious exchange on ABC News’ “This Week With George Stephanopolous,” Paul called the host “a fool.”
“In Wisconsin, tens of thousands of absentee votes had only the name on it and no address,” Paul said. “Historically those were thrown out, this time they weren’t. They made special accommodations. It’s a pandemic. They changed the law after the fact. That’s wrong, that’s unconstitutional.”
“I won’t be cowed by liberals in the media who say there’s no evidence here and you’re a liar if you talk about election fraud,” he continued. “Let’s have an open debate this is a free country.”
“|There were lots of problems and secretaries of state who illegally changed the law and that needs to be fixed and I’m going to work hard to fix it. The media today say all Republicans are liars. There are two sides to every story.”

Somehistory, at this point, I only trust a handful of GOP senators – Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, Ron Johnson, Ted Cruz and still Tom Cotton (while I disagreed w/ him, at least his reason for voting the way he did – avoid setting a precedent – made some sense) The rest ought to go down whenever they run: Steve Bannon had the right idea in 2017
I’ll be okay if President Trump announces a new party: at least they can whitelist people who really believe in it, rather than GOP grifters who just hang on to the coattails of power
somehistory says
Infidel,
I don’t trust most politicians. I have heard them speak so many times and then when they actually do things, it’s the opposite of what they said. I can’t stand listening to a liar.
Mr. Paul seems to be one of a few, a very few, who really do care about his responsibilities to those who elected him…and even to people in other states who couldn’t vote him in.
He was right in what he said to the “fool.” Now, he and the others you named, need to watch their backs.
Infidel says
Somehistory, Rand Paul is a brave man. He was personally assaulted by a neighbor, was there in Alexandria when a deranged guy tried to assassinate the GOP congressmen, got the Chinavirus last year and was attacked when he and his wife were leaving the WH after President Trump’s speech. Despite all that, he’s stood true to his principles
I do think he should have armed volunteers around him whenever he’s not in the senate to protect him. If Trump doesn’t run in 2024, he’s one of those I’d happily support
somehistory says
Yes, it takes courage and integrity to stand firm in the face of attacks. I remember when he was assaulted…very violently…by a “neighbor,” and many discounted it; read about his illness, and saw video of the other violence against him. He deserves a lot of credit for standing firm for his principles. There are not many like him…in politics and out.
There are probably more enemies waiting in the wings now, more than ever.
James Lincoln says
Somehistory,
I did watch the contentious exchange that Sen. Rand Paul had with George Stephanopolous.
George was definitely out of his league trying to match wits with Dr. Paul…

Yes, Sen. Rand Paul is a very brave – and very intelligent man.
And a darn good ophthalmologist…

Mr. Paul is well spoken.
I read today that something like 29 repub senators are saying no trial…unconstitutional and a waste of time.
Some still on the fence, some won’t say. Some just don’t have the guts to do the right thing and follow the Law.
Then someone suggested that ‘o’ be impeached too. I forgot the ‘reason,’ But, A plane load of cash delivered to America’s enemy should do it. (“aid and comfort”)
Why not clinton again and even go back as far as carter? Surely there are things that could be dug up.
Kepha says
This is a reason why I have discountd the MSM for some time. Disclaimer: I do not sympathize with the rioters.
During the Jan. 6 incident, it was clear that Trump urged his supporters to demonstrate peacefully, and the mob at the Capitol started assembling well before Trump finished speaking. MMaybe this unconstitutional impeachment should go to trial, this exculpatory evidence presented, and then Trump exonerated. The next step would be to make Democratic vindictiveness, pettiness, and inattention to important matters the issue for the 2022 Congressional races.
In any case, after the summer and fall of 2020, in which the Left made much capital out of crowds taking on lives of their own and getting out of control, the Democratic party’s attack on Trump for 01/05 (which he clearly did not condone) makes them look like dwellers in a glass house casting stones.
As for Trump the terrorist or fascist, this once never-Trumper (I bit my tongue for the election) will note that the worst Trump did was give hostile reporters and opponents as good as they gave him. Yet can anyone point to a single one of Trump’s media or political opponents/enemies who “disappeared”, or was even silenced? Did he ever use US power to take out someone with whom the USA was at peace?
But, there is a bigger problem in the US.
Rightly or wrongly, 40% of the US population believes the election was stolen (I count myself in that number; even if I am not going to riot). While I readily acknowledge that a few BLM and Antifa agents-provocateurs have been arrested in connection with the Jan.6 breach of the Capitol, the bulk of the mob still appears to have been my fellow conservatives. If we have that portion of the populace whose first political instinct is to trust the constitutional machinery suddenly going berserk, we have an erosion of popular confidence that could be a greater existential threat to the republic since 1861; greater even than the Cold War.
Somewhere, the USA should have the leadership that will be able to open a real, meaningful, mutually respectful, and humble dialogue. This is what is badly needed to restore popular confidence, but I do not see it anywhere on the horizon. However, it seems that the victorious Democrats cannot get beyond calling all of the opposition “deplorable” and “white supremacist”. Perhpas the best we can expect is for some media or aademic experts supercilliously deigning to lecture the rest of us. Biden’s calls for post-election “unity” sound like mere boilerplate and devoid of substance.
The attempt to turn the ex-President in to a Bin Ladin is the height of irresponsibility and, in our current situation, it is carrying a leaky jerry can of gasoline around a fire.
Color me pessimistic, at least as far as the US future is concerned.

Deuce difficult to determine who is the most execrable—Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Schumer (who said last March in front of the Supreme Court building that if Kavanaugh and Gorsuch rule the wrong way on abortion “they won’t know what hit them”—but of course this is not to be construed as insurrectionary language because, after all, Schumer is a Democrat and a full double standard applies), Waters (who told idiot supporters to go to restaurants, gas stations and other public places and get in the faces of Trump Administration officials), the forever annoying Pelosi, the pathological liar Schiff, the idiot AOC, the evil Omar and Tlaib, the oleaginous Swalwell, Mr. Holier-than-thou Romney, Cheney the nothing from Wyoming (ain’t gettin’ another term Liz), the self-important Vindman, Mueller, McCabe, Rosenstein, et al.
It’s a very long list and pondering it can give a person of sense and knowledge just what Trump was up against. Man, is America in trouble, and now at the top of the greasy pole is someone fraudulently elected and not even in full possession of what mediocre mind he once had. Outlook not good.

Nowadays those “good” people like that Comey sound more and more like the old church inquisition, Bin Laden and Hitler themselves.
Trump was nobody scared off by the way….

There’s basically no difference between the establishment of the West (the left/liberals) and the Islamic priest-class.
