We announced our film program on Friday and if you haven't had a chance - CHECK OUT THE LINEUP! Beyond the films, here are some other things we're queuing up for KCFF21:
MUSIC IN THE MOVIES: Film Scoring Panel For musicians interested in making music for film, check out our FILM SCORING PANEL on Saturday, March 6 at 4:00 pm. We'll be joined by Blitz//Berlin's Martin Macphail (who has worked on films like BirdBox, The Girl On The Train, Bad Times At The El Royale, Fifty Shades of Grey, Top Gun: Maverick, and the Blade Runner 2049 prequel Nexus Dawn). We're also joined by Australian/Canadian composer Michelle Osis and Terry Benn who scored the music for BLOODTHIRSTY (which screens at KCFF21). Free, but preregistration is required.
BREAKING IN: Starting a career in film and media For those interested in the film industry in general, check out our popular BREAKING IN event, Friday March 5, 4pm. Connect with industry pros for serious advice on how to break in and get started in the Canadian film and media industry. Free, but preregistration is required.
COMIC ART WORKSHOP Back by popular demand, KCFF goes digital with our COMIC ART WORKSHOP, highlighting dynamic figure drawing and storytelling using the classic comic book styles! Suitable for all ages and skill levels. $20 per student - reserve your spot now!
Q&A's, Q&A's LOTS OF Q&As! All our films will be accompanied by a live post-screening Q&A with the director(s)! You can take part by playing the film at the advertised start time for each film. If you miss it, you can still catch the pre-recorded Q&A's until the end of the Fest - simply stream the film and the Q&A will start automatically after the closing film credits!
MEET THE PRODUCER OF SCHITT'S CREEK Can't wait until the Fest? This Thursday (Feb 11), 6:30 pm, Queen’s Film and the Kingston Film Office host a free live chat around "working on set" and will feature Kosta Orfanidis (Producer, Schitt's Creek) and Queen’s Film alumni Amy Cuthbertson (Production Coordinator / Supervisor, The Expanse, Hannibal). This discussion will look at their career paths, current work, and advice on getting into the industry - plus plenty of time for questions. Pre-register now!
