“Islamophobia” is a propaganda term that is used for two unrelated phenomena: vigilante attacks against innocent Muslims, which are never justified, and honest analysis of the motivating ideology behind jihad violence and Sharia oppression of women and others. The goal of this conflation is to inhibit such analysis and intimidate people into thinking it’s wrong to oppose jihad terror. And it’s working great, as this propaganda piece in Foreign Policy indicates. Would Foreign Policy ever dream of publishing an article about the agenda behind the term “Islamophobia” and the fundamental dishonesty of it as a concept? Of course not.
Meanwhile, this claim that “Islamophobia” is “rooted in racism” is absurd on its face. Do Mohammad Zaheer and Foreign Policy expect us to believe that opponents of jihad violence have no problem with white jihadis such as John Walker Lindh or Adam Gadahn?
This is just yet another propaganda salvo designed to shame people into thinking that to oppose jihad terror is beyond the bounds of acceptable discourse.
“Defining Islamophobia Is the First Step Toward Addressing It,” by Mohammad Zaheer, Foreign Policy, January 29, 2021 (thanks to Henry):
Over the last few years, the United Kingdom has seen Islamophobia rise at a disturbing rate. In 2011, Sayeeda Warsi, a former chairman of the Conservative Party and one of the country’s leading Muslim politicians, raised alarm bells when she claimed that anti-Muslim racism had become so normalized that it had “passed the dinner table test.” Unfortunately for her and the wider British Muslim community, things have gone from bad to worse. In 2020, the Muslim Council of Britain sent a dossier of 300 allegations of Islamophobia against Prime Minister Boris Johnson and members of the Conservative Party to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission. It was the second time, to no avail, that the Muslim Council of Britain had implored the equalities watchdog to launch a formal investigation into the ruling party.
This past December, it was reported that The Great British Bake Off’s Ali Imdad was subjected to Islamophobic abuse while taking the bus home. Not only did none of his fellow passengers come to his aid, according to Imdad, but when he tried to speak up to defend himself, the bus driver threatened to throw him off.
Islamophobia does not garner the same recognition as related terms, such as racism, possibly because it has only been recognized in policy discourse in a meaningful way for the last 20 years. In fact, despite several high-profile efforts—including by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on British Muslims in 2018—there is not yet even a universally accepted definition of Islamophobia….
For starters, adopting the working definition of Islamophobia—“Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness”—that was developed by the APPG on British Muslims would go a long way in signalling not only the recognition of the discriminatory phenomenon by lawmakers, but that it will be strongly challenged. The previous attempt to get the government to accept this working definition was met with fierce resistance. Pushing it through will require tremendous courage and political will….

The political analysis of political Islam is a highly intellectual part of POLITICAL SCIENCE, rather than being psychiatric disorder. Sharia law is clear about Islam being a political system and political ideology. The manual of Sharia law (‘Reliance of the Traveller’) refers 128 times to ‘caliph’ or ‘caliphate’, 12 times to ‘Islamic State’, 3 times to ‘Islamic ruler’, 2 times to ‘supreme leadership’, 2 times to ‘government, 2 times to ‘govern’, 2 times to ‘sultan’ and one to ‘governors’ (of Islamic provinces). Thus, Sharia supports the notion that Islam is a political IDEOLOGY.
Many leading Muslims and other scholars agree that Islam is highly IDEOLOGICAL.
-“Pakistan not only means freedom and independence, but the Muslim IDEOLOGY which has to be preserved as a precious gift and treasure and which, we hope others will share with us.” – Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Father of Pakistan (a declaration of expansionism)
-“In establishing and equipping the defense forces of the country, the focus shall be on maintaining IDEOLOGY and faith as the foundation and the measure.” -From the preface to the Iranian constitution, heading: An Ideological Army.
-“Islam is POLITICS or it is nothing!” – Ayatollah Khomeini.
-“Islam is not a race. It is an IDEOLOGY”, explained IBRAHIM HOOPER of CAIR
-A “very large part” of sharia requires “the coercive power and authority of the state” for its enforcement. Consequently, while a state based on Islam has a legislature which the ruler must consult, its function “is really that of law-finding, not of law-making.” – Maulana Maududi, Islamic political expert
-The Saudi Sheikh Saleh Al-Lehadan, head of the Supreme Judiciary Council, told Al Watan daily, (March 25, 2008) “After GETTING RID of the Jews in our Arab land, we must turn to the Christians. They have three options: either they convert to Islam, or leave, or pay Jizia (protection taxes). Further, there is not such a thing as Shiites, Sufis, etc. There are only Sunnis. All these sects must renounce their pagan beliefs and return to Sunna, the right path of Islam.”
-Islam is a political IDEOLOGY. Islam divides the world into Muslims and unbelievers, kafirs. – Bill Warner, PhD, analyst of political Islam
-“Islam is at once a religion, a STATE and a SOCIETY—din wa dawla. Political power is thus entirely devoted to a religious mission. Islam is the MERGER of politics and religion.” – Fr Henri Boulad SJ, Syrian analyst of political Islam
– “Islam is a totalitarian IDEOLOGY that aims to control the religious, social and political life of mankind in all its aspects — the life of its followers without qualification, and the life of those who follow the so-called tolerated religions to a degree that prevents their activities from getting in the way of Islam in any manner. – Ibn Warraq, ex-Muslim author on political Islam
-Islam is law-oriented, not theology-oriented, and Muslim society is ideological in nature. – Samuel P. Schlorff
-“We need to understand that this is a struggle between two IDEOLOGIES, not between countries or leaders or religions. It is a (mostly) silent war between secularism and Islam. -Mazin Abdul Adhim, an important Muslim thinker in Canada, who identifies with the internationalist, pan-Islamic organization Hizb ut-Tahrir
– Majid Khadduri was an Iraqi scholar of Islamic law of international renown. In his book ‘War and Peace in the Law of Islam’, which was published in 1955 and remains one of the most lucid and illuminating works on the subject, Khadduri says this about jihad:
“The state which is regarded as the instrument for universalizing a certain religion must perforce be an ever-expanding STATE. The Islamic STATE, whose principal function was to put God’s law into practice, sought to establish Islam as the dominant reigning IDEOLOGY over the entire world….The jihad was therefore employed as an instrument for both the universalization of religion and the establishment of an IMPERIAL WORLD STATE.” (P. 51)
– Islam is an ‘ideological army’ – Iran’s Constitution

Mortimer – I remember a time when the world was for me a vastly more agreeable place. That world did not include Islam and the few Muslims around pretty much kept to themselves. Now with Islam re-emerged from relative obscurity and endeavouring to impose itself with its nauseating, mentally retarded rubbish, lies and violence, it astounds me that Western nations, after being so stupid as to allow Muslims in large numbers to immigrate, do not deport them in order to restore peace and civilized standards.
Who wants to incessantly listen to or read about yet another Muslim whining lies about their victimhood, lying about non-existent ‘Islamophobia’ and about we infidels not liking Muslims. Now not liking Muslims and their intellectually low-grade crap culture is ‘racist’. With the stigma attached to ‘racism’, it was only time before ‘racism’ would become the next bludgeon from Muslims, who, as anyone with a brain knows – and this does not include Democrats or Canadian liberals – are not a race. They must spend hours obsessively dreaming up this utter nonsense!
And why do many of us not like Muslims as a group? Because so many of them are disgusting liars, are too stupid to see why their ways are obnoxious and hostile, and don’t realize how tired we are of their pathetic and dishonest bleatings about how badly they’ve been treated – when try to impose their rubbish teachings into schools and universities and in response to all their hatred, bigotry, intolerance toward anyone not Muslim and their incessant violence all over the world. There have been more than 40,000 jihad attacks since 9/11 and somehow we are not supposed to notice pictures of bloodstained victims of jihad attacks or shattered bodies. Who the devil wants such disgusting people around them?

Islam’s word ‘deen’ is often mistranslated and mischaracterized as ‘religion’, when the truth of the word is more complex. This leads to a confusion in the minds of uninformed Western people which Muslim propagandists disingenuously exploit.
The Arabic word “din” is often translated as “religion,” but this is misleading because the term “religion” in the
English language is usually restricted to personal worship, whereas DIN refers to EVERY aspect of life.
DIN is more accurately translated into English as ‘governance’ than ‘religion’.
Islam’s ‘governance’ or ‘legal-governmental’ system covers every aspect of life and also religion.
ME-DIN-A is literally ‘the place of governance’ as the founding capital of the Islamic empire in Arabia.
The word Dīn appears in as many as 79 verses in the Qur’an, but because there is no exact English translation of the term, its precise definition has been the subject of some misunderstanding and disagreement. Consequently, the term is often mistranslated in parts of the Qur’an as “religion”.
However, in the Qur’an itself, the act of submission to God is always referred to as Dīn rather than as Madhhab (مذهب), which is the Arabic word for “religion
ISLAM IS A ‘DIN’ … a system of governance.
Wellington says
In short, mortimer, Islam is not just a religion, it is a “prescription” for everything about human life.
And which is EXACTLY what is common to EVERY totalitarian ideology, whether Islam, Marxism, Nazism and mankind’s newest installment of totalitarian rot, i.e., Western Leftism.
Just as every totalitarian ideology destroys liberty, so does every totalitarian ideology have an “answer” for every aspect of life.
Ominous to put it mildly—and damn crushing of both freedom and the human spirit.

What complete and utter bullshit it is to seek to represent the dislike or hatred of Islam as racism. I loathe Islam because of the totally barbaric, vicious, endlessly violent nature of the ideology, and Islam, to my mind, is the most intolerant of all religious ideologies (with its hatred of all non-believers as expressed in the Koran). As is often said, Islam is not a race. I have no dislike of Buddhists of any race, Christians of any race, etc, but I hate islam because of its evil and hate filled nature, and I dislike any person who freely makes the choice to remain a member of Islam. To my mind, you would have to be a complete simpleton to fall for this rubbish that tries to say that, if you dislike evil Islam, then you must be a racist. But I’m sure it will work with some muddle headed fools. It shouldn’t work, but it will work with some people. It is the usual Muslim bullshit. To get people like me to stop being “Islamophobic”, Islam’s vicious, primitive nature would have to be totally changed, though, of course, that will never happen
Walter Sieruk says
As for that bogus claim the “Islamophobia” is “rooted in racism” it seems now to be desperately needed to be reminded that “Islam is not rooted in race but it’s a religious/political /sharia law based system of tyrannical minded control system that has complete and total influence and power of the thoughts, ideas, values and behavior and over millions of people around the world. Regardless of the race of that that person under they tyrannical mind control system of Islam.
Therefore those who claim that ” Islamophobia is rooted in racism” are speaking out of their own ignorance of they are knowingly speaking out false statement as well as a false claim to hide, as in cover up the dangerous and deadly subversive violent essence of Islam.
By the way, it should be noted that the term “Islamophobia” is not a real word.
End PC says
The word “Islamophobia” already means an irrational fear of Islam. If used in that straightforward sense I certainly would not want to be or be called an Islamophobe. If, as some doctrinaires would have it, Islamophobia can be just a hatred or fear of Islam then in view of the fact that Islam, by its own texts & violent history, is a conquer, plunder, take slaves (including captive girls & women as sex slaves sanctioned in the Qur’an 33:50) and subjugate ideology then one should hope everyone is an Islamophobe.
Attaching the concept of racism to the word is not making a definition but an absurd claim since Islam is not a race. Hence, the whole business of redefining a word that already has a sensible meaning is an exercise by irrational people.
Walter Sieruk says
Yes term “Islamophobia” is very well understood to mean what you had defined above. Nevertheless ,asc far as I know there is no worldwide official recognition of that “word” by the higher scholar of education in print. Even though they might use the “word” one and a awhile.
Likewise there is real word as “Islamist” Still most people understand the term is to mean “Muslim terrorist.”
That bogus word “Islamist” was made up after September 11, 2001 in order not to offend or upset non- Violent Muslims,
The bogus word “Islamophobia ” was fabricated after 9/11 to silence critics of Islam.

Here’s a definition of the “phobia” about the evil teaching of the mass-murdering, raper of children, sex fanatic slave trader, sack of filthy slug slime, lying son of satan the devil:
It is balderdash, nonsense, putrid rot, and a weapon to use against non-moslims in order to get special privileges and to stop conversations about islam that moslims fear, such as the description of their false “prophet,” and their false “god,” that they rape babies, that they mutilate little girls for sexual pleasure, that they murder their family members, that they murder others for whatever ‘reason’ comes to their soiled brains, and a long, long list of other sins and offenses against God and humankind.
In short, the fabricated “phobia” is a weapon to stop people from telling the Truth. it’s a weapon against Truth. It has nothing to do with “race.” And moslims know this…they don’t know much as a general rule, but they know that one fact.

This word was coined by the oic…after h clinton told them that they would have to “shame” Americans into not telling the Truth about islam.
2011 She met with them and discussed how to stop Americans from saying things moslims didn’t want said by non moslims. They wanted a “law” written to force Americans to not speak things the moslims didn’t want said.
h.clinton told them that due to the First Amendment, there could not be a “law” that would criminalize speech of that sort, but that they would have to “shame Americans” if they didn’t want something to be said.
Thus…the “phobia” was born. It grew and attached the “racist” part when it wasn’t doing as well as the moslims expected. that is one reason they keep trying to come up with a “definition” that works the way they want it to.

Islam does not look at all ” clean or tolerant ” under close scrutiny! It is is a medieval & very NASTY ideology where rape & abuse are sanctioned & it is a very LONG WAY From being ” a religion of peace! Islam needs inspection so that all can see the abuse sanctioned & the holy lying!

Considering that discrimination against non muslims is the official policy of the sharia, also known as islamic law, which is supported passionately by A majority of muslims, it is inappropriate to make it forbidden to criticize muslims, as muslims are the main source of discrimination in the world today. There is also widescale prejudice of even secular Jews and african muslims and african non muslims among the arab muslim majority, showing that muslims are A considerable source of racism in the world as well as religious discrimination.
It is debatable if the chinese are in fact more racist, as racism is chinas official policy, but muslims are far more common throughout the world, they also attempt to establish their supremacy wherever they go, whereas the chinese tend to keep to themselves. It would be A major impediment to the human rights of the people of the world, to confuse or deceive the institutions of the world into thinking that the small amount of people who dislike muslims even if they were to dedicate themselves to peace with others, are on par with the massive amount of violence, hatred, government sanctioned discrimination that muslims and their societies create. So-called ‘Islamophobia’ is non-existent.
The primary definition of a “phobia” (A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous) requires the thing, in this case Islam, be known NOT BE DANGEROUS.
So, let’s look at why normal people realize that Islam is exceptionally dangerous:
1. for 1,400 years Islam, through the use of armies and civilians, has waged war with the end result being domination of the world.
2. for 1,500 years Islam has advocated the murder or enslaving of anyne NOT muslim.
3. for an unknown amount of time since its inception it has practice Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
4. since its inception its stated goal is the death of all Jews (yup, just like Hitler)\
5. women are treated like chattel and non-muslim women can be and are sexually assaulted with impunity in Islamic Republics around the world.
6. since the 18th Century Islamic leaders have attacked American sailors, imprisoning them, enslaving them, killing them for not being muslims and because the US didn’t pay tribute
7. they have killed more non-muslims around the world during non-wars than Hitler did non-Nazis.
8. there are constant instances of young girls being kidnapped, raped, then forced to marry the rapist who then avoids criminal charges.
9. women who are raped are often found guilty of adultery and then stoned to death.
Even IF Islam is a religion, which would give Nazism a legitimate claim to being a religion, it still has NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE.
Therefore, since ISLAM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE, and THE FEAR IS REASONABLE,
ISLAMOPHOBIA CAN NOT BE ROOTED IN RACISM.

moslims should have to explain why it should be a “crime” to be afraid of people who wish to kill you.
Anyone with a real phobia, be it a fear of flying, high places, wide open spaces, cramped places, snakes, spiders, or as the character Monk, afraid of milk and a whole host of other things, is not looked at as committing a crime in being afraid, but as someone who needs help to overcome the **irrational fear*** that causes them trouble.
If a person is afraid…extremely and irrationally…of flying, the therapist will help them to reason on why they are afraid…of crashing, etc. and even show stats of how safe air travel is. There is a whole lot of talk involved…a speaking of the Truth about flying.
If the person has a fear of something that is really dangerous; and that has a high incidence of fatalities, this is not considered so much a “phobia,” but as common sense.
moslims say any criticism of islam, any dislike of islam, any mistrust of islam is “irrational fear” and then, want the governments to outlaw the “fear.” These demands by moslims are what is “irrational,” and their fear that more and more people will learn the truth is not a ‘phobia.’
It’s all a bunch of hooey on their part. If it truly was a “phobia,” then it should be looked at as someone needing help to overcome it. A lot of talking would be involved, with some evidence that islam is not dangerous. But, they want the “phobia” to be criminalized, due to the fact their goals are not yet realized.
If the “fear” is against the Law, then no one can speak about islam…even if they are using common sense in their assessment. In actuality, moslims want people to fear them…that is the reasoning behind the “terror” threats and the terrorism they use to stop people from telling the Truth.
They have made people afraid by their actions, their threats, their sermons and their public statements about wiping Israel off the map, blowing up the WH, etc. They want people to be in fear…just be quiet about it, shut up about what is happening, and about why it is happening.
And then they will keep on using freedom of speech to instill fear in their enemies.

Spot on, Somehistory.
E T says
There is nothing to fear but fear itself and maybe spiders. If a person fears barbarians who, rape, beat, stab, slit throats, decapitate, stone people to death, burn people alive and cut off hands and feet, they are not racist, they are the new normal, the victims of migration.
Qur’an 8:12
Jeddie says
If there is Islamophobia, why not Judaophobia? “Antisemitism” has become antique and worthless.
somehistory says
Phobias are not something for which a person should be condemned or held accountable. Most people with phobias would like to rid themselves of the problems.
The feelings associated with antisemitism are dislike, hatred, etc,, and these are not something that must be expressed. If one “hates,” that one can just keep quiet if unable to stop hating. If they act on the hatred with violence or discrimination, they should be held accountable in whatever ways the Laws allow.
So, if there needs to be a new term, it should not be called a “phobia.”
moslims hate the rest of us, but they want us to keep silent about our feelings. They want us to suffer in silence if we are afraid of being murdered, raped, extorted or threatened. And if we become a victim of any of these, we are supposed to “like” it.
Jews don’t go about threatening terror or such things as moslims do daily. Neither do Christians. But the moslim hatred goes on and on and on.
Jeddie says
If a person criticizes Islam, he/she will be charged with “Islamophobia”. It is a method of shutting up the person. It works because people do not want that stigma. If it works for them,……………?
I also considered ‘Racist AntiJudaism’.
somehistory says
It does somewhat “work for them,” due to the violence, terror attacks, murders, rioting, in which they engage. It’s not the word itself that works for them. They chose the “phobia” thing because homosexuals used ‘phobia’ with homo in order to shame people and make them feel as though they had a mental disease if homosexuality was viewed as wrong.
It wouldn’t work for Jews or Christians because these are not taught to use terror, murder, etc. to get what they want from others. These groups do not generate a lot of irrational fear in others.
So it wouldn’t be True either. People hate these ones. Hatred of Jews and Christians is actually a hatred of Almighty God and His Son.
gravenimage says
Accusing someone of “Islamophobia” can also “work” if people are persecuted for it.
