My latest in PJ Media:
Religions shouldn’t be considered responsible for the misdeeds of their followers, right? That has been the consistent establishment media line on Islam since 9/11, and before that, and it has been enshrined in public policy on both sides of the Atlantic and become axiomatic in the West’s approach to terrorism.
But wait. Issac Bailey is a columnist and a professor of Public Policy at Davidson College in North Carolina. He writes in Newsweek: “If Christianity can convince so many to follow a man like Trump almost worshipfully—or couldn’t at least help millions discern the unique threat Trump represented—what good is it really?” So now apparently the followers of a religion do reflect on the religion itself – if the religion is Christianity, and the evil follower is Donald Trump.
Bailey explains: “I’m struggling to hold fast to my Christianity—because of Donald Trump. Not exactly Trump himself, though, but the undying support of the self-professed Christian pro-life movement that he enjoyed. My faith is in tatters because of that alliance. And I am constantly wondering if I am indirectly complicit because I dedicated my life to the same Jesus the insurrectionists prayed to in the Capitol building after ransacking it and promising to kill those who didn’t do their bidding.”
Faith in tatters! Heavens to Betsy! Yet this poor lost soul Issac Bailey is manifesting confused thinking in all sorts of ways. Trump is not and never claimed to be the leader of a Christian sect. Millions of people didn’t support Trump because of Christianity, but because of the policies he stood for and implemented.
He is an academic, after all, and so it’s no surprise that Bailey’s thinking gets even more confused than that. On December 6, 2020, he tweeted: “In the aftermath of 9/11, some Americans warned politicians would use that horrific event to pass laws that stifled freedom and targeted Muslims. They were right. That’s what’s being referred to here. Beheadings should not be used to target Muslims and excuse racism.”
He is setting up a straw man here, as no decent person wants to “target Muslims” or “excuse racism.” Anyway, his point is that jihad terror should not have been considered to reflect poorly on Islam and thereby lead to this alleged “targeting” of Muslims. But if he can say that Trump is so evil that he is struggling with his Christianity because many Christians support Trump, why doesn’t the same reasoning go for Islam? Issac Bailey does not write and likely never would dream of writing something like this: “If Islam can convince so many to follow a man like Osama bin Laden or Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi almost worshipfully—or couldn’t at least help millions discern the unique threat they and others like them represented—what good is it really?”
There is more. Read the rest here.

Unfortunately the Professor has no idea what a genuine Christian (believer in Christ) is…
Nor does he have a clue about God’s Holy Word…the Bible. May God have Mercy.
Mario says
Beheadings are something that is also meaningless to him because he has lived a soft safe life in a country where religious tolerance is the norm. That or he’s just plain crazy.

Nothing unfortunate about it. Just another brain dead bobblehead.

What does Trump got to do with Christianity?

But … as Robert Spencer reminded us …”Religions shouldn’t be considered responsible for the misdeeds of their followers, right?”
Terrorism, we were told by CNN and others, has NOTHING to do with Islam … but Isaac Bailey says terrorism comes from CHRISTIANITY and that is what makes Trump suspect to Bailey.
Bailey is more than befuddled in his illogic. He shouldn’t be teaching anyone.
Shane Mann says
This idiot professor is angry that so many Christians have voted for Trump. He is just another clueless leftist who believes that garbage being spewed by the fake news MSM.
Wellington says
If this turkey is struggling with his Christian faith because of Trump, he doesn’t know Christianity worth diddly shit.
My God, fools aplenty are everywhere nowadays, and most menacing are well-educated fools like this dopey professor.
Oh yeah, DWDs (Dodos With a Doctorate) aplenty out there here in the West (another example: Craig Considine) and pulling the greatest civilization downwards, which is what Trump was actually trying to prevent.
There’s no fool like an educated fool. Most damaging of all fools. Surely.
mortimer says
Donald Trump sought to protect America’s working class and middle class from having their jobs exported to China and elsewhere by Big Tech and Big Money oligarchs.
Isaac Bailey is a humble servant and lackey for the oligarchs.

In a 1970’s book “Roots” one of the characters told another “When the Fool killer comes to town we all best be hiding in the tall grass”.
I have a feeling their would be many more democrats hiding in the tall grass than Republicans.

He probably cannot knock a nail in, so over educated. If i was a USA citizen, thats the Great USA by the way, I would have voted for Mr Trump, and still would, and I am not religious.

Easily-beguiled, uninformed Issac Bailey has not studied the CLOSE CONNECTION of the Ku Klux Klan with ISLAM.
The Ku Klux Klan was consciously organized copying ISLAM and its practice of JIHAD.
-The KKK has a sacred book called the KLORAN
-The KKK and Islam both have founding ‘prophets’
-The KKK and Islam both have obligatory pilgimages
-The KKK and Islam both have unique calendars
-The KKK and Islam both have successors to the leader: Caliph/Klaliff
-The KKK and Islam both prohibit innovation
-The KKK and Islam both use star and crescent symbols
-The KKK and Islam both practice vigilante mob justice
Issac Bailey has not bothered to learn about Islam before blurting his prejudices and facile conclusions.
Isaac Bailey doesn’t appear to have checked whether beheading is Islamic before making his foolish claim.
Decapitation is commanded in the Koran and in Sharia law:
“As for the captives, the amir [ruler] has the choice of taking the most beneficial action of four possibilities: the first to put them to death by cutting their necks; the second, to enslave them and apply the laws of slavery regarding their sale and manumission; the third, to ransom them in exchange for goods or prisoners; and fourth, to show favor to them and pardon them. Allah, may he be exalted, says, ‘When you encounter those [infidels] who deny [the Truth=Islam] then strike [their] necks’ (Qur’an sura 47, verse 4)” — Abu’l-Hasan al-Mawardi, al-Ahkam as-Sultaniyyah (The Laws of Islamic Governance)

ISAAC BAILEY and all JIHADWATCHERS should read the excellent article about ISLAM AND KKK by a real expert … Dr. Stephen M. Kirby, PhD
Dr. Stephen M. Kirby is the author of five books about Islam. His latest book is The Lure of Fantasy Islam: Exposing the Myths and Myth Makers.
Read about it here:

Bailey explains: “I’m struggling to hold fast to my Christianity”
—–
Be at peace, pal, let it go. Don’t get weight down with that religious struggle. Go full Muzzie. You’re sure to find peace.
And no more struggling. Except of course for that jihad thing – you know, your duty to commit jihad.
mortimer says
Bailey is repeating this story because no one is holding him to account. Bailey’s conclusions contradict the facts. The Koran and Sharia law both decree beheading of the enemies of Islam. It’s canonical Islam. Mercy to one’s enemies is canonical in Christianity.
Bailey is ethically more of a Muslim than a Christian … Christians love their enemies and do good to them.
Raja says
I agree with almost all comments. This guy acts like a clown and talks utter nonsense. What has Trump to do with Christianity.
Though Trump is poor in morals he did great things for US and the world. I always thought he kept his word.
As Joe’s mental depravity unravels will he take a jump in the Atlantic or Pacific, whichever is closer to him?
mortimer says
Trump has higher ethical standards than you think.
Wellington says
Seconded.

Raja says
I can barely disagree with you Mortimer. I meant to say morals viz-a-viz Christian morals. Prior to coming to office he lavished praises on …rat Hillary. His ethics cannot be questioned though.
mortimer says
Donald Trump is a good man, but not a perfect man. He admits he has erred at time and he has repented and apologized. Many men never do.
An old preacher once said, ‘Many kings sin with David, but few repent with him.’
James Lincoln says
Correct, mortimer.
Raja says
Mortimer the great,
Trump must be a man of courage and sincerity to have apologized for his mistakes. You are right about most other men.
“the perfect Muslims” hardly ever repent or apologize for their misdeeds. They lie all the time and you don’t know when they are speaking the truth. The same is said of Pakistanis, they lie so much that truth when seldom uttered is ignored.
James says
Well, the professor is not much of a professor, if he can’t pick up the Koran and hadiths, and read and comprehend their meaning. Come on professor, you were college educated. You should be able to teach yourself a subject. I did.

Prof Says He’s ‘Struggling’ with His Christian Faith Because of Trump, But Beheadings Shouldn’t Reflect on Islam
………………….
This is not just absurd, it is also false, as I have pointed out before.
Issac Bailey has been claiming that he hs been ‘wrestling with his Christian faith’ for at least five years now–before President Trump was ever elected.
Here, he claims disingenuously that Jesus inspires the Ku Klux Klan, from 2015:
“Evil, in the name of Jesus”

Good research. Bailey is lazy and abusing the authority of his title … not having progressed for over 5 years in his story and repeating the same unresearched rantings. His hatred of the KKK has emboldened him to make facile conclusions.
Bailey thinks because he has an academic job that he can abuse his title by making unfounded claims.
I have given evidence of several of Bailey’s errors above.

Agree with you, Raja, in part. Bailey is a fanatical Dem. His judgment and his fairness are clouded. Personally, I think it is IMMORAL to slander my enemies and opponents and I NEVER do so.
I condemn Bailey’s facile ‘babbling’ and mud-slinging. It is un-Christian.

Normally I’m happy to see more and more people become atheistic but I realize at the same time that the words and actions of all other atheists reflect on me. So, puh-lease, remain a Christian, Bailey, because I don’t want brainless turds like you reflecting on me.

He’s no Christian…never was and likely never will be. True Christians remain so and are happy to see others accept the Truth that leads to “everlasting life.” But, as the Apostle Paul explained, one must be “rightly disposed for everlasting life.”

Christianity teaches ‘Know the truth and the truth shall set you free.’ This Professor has no interest in the truth. No wonder he is struggling with his Christian faith (which he seems to have never had in the first place). Now he is dishonestly blaming Trump for his lack of “faith’ to further his BS propaganda.
somehistory says
This “professor” is just that: a “professor.” He does not actually believe in Jesus Christ, therefore, he cannot have any “faith” in Jesus; he is not Christian. In fact, he is attempting to mislead others who might be “weak in faith”…there are those ones and a Christian with stronger faith is commanded to help the one who is ‘weak.’
This talk of his so-called ‘faith’ taking a beating due to Mr. Trump is actually “anti-Christ.” The Apostle John said there are “many” of those. The Apostle Paul said that ***nothing*** can “separate us from God’s Love.”
If “nothing can separate us…not even angels…from God’s Love,” then nothing anyone can do can kill our faith…except for what we ourselves do. There is a saying of long ago, “If you no longer feel close to God, ask yourself, who moved.”
This “professor” has the motive of causing people to dislike Mr. Trump, because he dislikes Mr. Trump.
But, worse than that, he is attempting to “draw disciples after” himself by claiming what Mr. Trump did and said damaged his “faith.” These claims put him in competition with Christ, because in his claims of losing ‘faith,’ he is saying that belief in Christ is not worth the trouble. He wants his ‘students’ and others to believe him, to put ‘faith’ in his words…”what good” is Christianity, he askes; meaning it isn’t any.
When Jesus chose the 12 Apostles, these men…all Jews…became Christians. Then, Judas Iscariot began stealing…became a thief…from the money box. He even complained about the expensive oil that was used on Jesus’ feet…in preparation for His burial…saying it “could be sold and the money given to the poor.” He really wanted the money for himself.
Judas went so far in his greed that he sold His Savior…and ours…for 30 pieces of silver.
When the other apostles and disciples found out what Judas had done, did any of them say, ” Look what Judas has done. What good is following Christ Jesus, anyway?”
When Jesus died, the Apostles were deeply affected…they had never really understood Jesus when He told them He would die and ‘rise again.’ and so they kind of lost heart. But, when He came and began speaking with them, they were full of faith and did exactly as He told them.
This guy, professing to have had a faith in Jesus never did. he is an anti-Christ. And he hopes to affect the faith of others. He is a child of satan the devil.
Raja says
Somehistory, Your words:
This “professor” has the motive of causing people to dislike Mr. Trump, because he dislikes Mr. Trump.
says it all.
Here in my area it is called PUNCH DIALOGUE.
Aren’t the Left world over doing the same? The foolish Left, it seems is ALWAYS plotting and scheming to gain control of the world for the devil, who is keen as ever to withhold men from coming to the knowledge of God and the cause of Christ.
somehistory says
Thank you, Raja. And you are so right about the devil’s involvement.

The bar for professorships in USA seems remarkably low, although we have some rather questionable professors here in UK as well. However it is some minor college in N. Carolina. This however seems to be very akin to the claim that people follow Trump like they did Hitler; but DT never had a private army of thigs beating and murdering the opposition, that is the domain of the left in current USA. It is remarkable how the left and MSM completely failed to call out the rioting, destruction and killing by BLM and Antifa: While getting orgasms over the ‘assault’ on the Capitol. BTW there was a lot of opposition to Hitler which is often forgotten.
Many gave their lives for protesting against him.
