Brody McCallister is my perfect "Cowboy"......

Brody is such a breathe of fresh air, he marches to the beat of his own drum and his stubbornness is unwavering when he believes in his whole heart the choices he makes are right. I love that about him. His gift with the broken horses is something to be hold and his fierce protective nature had me from the beginning. A survivor in every sense of the word but more than that he is a wonderful role model for his son.. Shiloh was his equal in every sense and the pull between these two was amazing. l am loving this series so hard and can't wait to see how the family unit continues to interact...

I devoured this book in one sitting and can not recommend it enough....

This is the second book in the series. Can be read as a stand-alone but I strongly advise you read Lila and Jude’s story first as it will give you a better insight to Brody and the whole McCallister families. This book made me laugh and seriously cry. There are some truly heart wrenching moments, great story line with a very HEA. Still hoping there will be a Gideon book :-)

I got totally hooked by this wonderful story and felt all of the emotions too. It is a lovely story about searching for the missing pieces and forgiving the past.
Today, Shiloh Leroux is a rock star, but she comes from humble beginnings, living with her Maw Maw in a swamp shack on the bayou. At 13 her Maw Maw told her her fortune: That when she found her one true love she would need to find a balance between her heart's needs and her love of music. That the man would save her more than once, that there would be happiness, but there would be storms to endure, too.
Taking a six week break before the European leg of her tour, Shiloh has chosen a guest house on a horse ranch in Texas. She plans a peaceful break away, but also has a secret project to undertake while there. Knowing the ranch is owned by a horse rescue specialist, Brody McCallister Shiloh has warned herself against getting involved. Her life is her music.
But fate, or maybe the late Maw Maw has other plans...

These stories have inter-relating characters, so if you plan to read them all, follow the chronological order for the best reading experience.

Before the Storm Breaks is the second book in the Lost Star series, however this is a standalone. Its definitely an intriguing read, the storyline is unique compared to the ones that I usually come across. I was so surprised with how the plot unraveled! The main characters Shiloh and Brody didn't have an easy life growing up. Their wounds may have healed but, they are still there, lurking beneath the surface. Both Shiloh and Brody can relate to one another. Shiloh pours her heart and soul into her music, by writing songs; music is Shiloh's life. And Brody, a former rodeo bare bronc rider, "cowboy" rescues injured/abused horses; he tries to rehabilitate these horses on his ranch. They seem like completely two different people from two totally separate worlds. However, deep down they are the same; searching for a person who would love them unconditionally.

Loved the first half, so disappointed with the second half. Book has grammatical errors as well, but that didn’t bother me like what the writer did with the story., the book had potential but at some point everything went downhill.

An incredible story with great messages

I'm open minded when it comes to book genres and I'm willing to read any book as long as there is a good story line. But I'm not often drawn to the rock star/musician stories. However when I read this blurb, something about it drew my attention. And I have to say I was not disappointed. Something about this story captured my attention. Maybe it was the plot. Maybe the characters. Perhaps it was a combination of both. This story was centered on family. Sometimes that family isn't the one that gave birth to you but those who love you no matter what. Brody and Shiloh complete each other. It is easy to love someone who is perfect or seems perfect. But to find someone who loves all of you, all the jagged edges, is rare and special. Both of them have lived through some difficult times but they also strived for better and didn't let those experiences hold them back. The ride isn't easy for them. Shiloh is a rock star and Brody is a cowboy. One lives in the spotlight, the other values their privacy. Hidden secrets come to light and you wonder whether the two of them can weather the storm. I went through a river of emotions. There were times where I felt like crying and others where I couldn't stop smiling and laughing at the beautiful and heartfelt interactions. It was a beautiful story that proves that the best things in life require hard work but that's what makes them worthwhile.

Gah this story was EVERYTHING!!

Brody was just perfection and had me swoonier than ever.

This story gripped you, it pulled you in taking every emotion from you and leaving you breathless.

Brody and Shiloh together were awe-inspiring. The chemistry, the banter the emotions they both betrayed had you captivated.

Emery writes these amazing love stories that pull at your heart strings and keep you begging for more.

Brody really was a dirty talking cowboy with a wild streak and protective nature that made hearts fill your eyes and your leave a permanent smile on your face. Not to mention the dripping desire he left with that dirty mouth of his.

I can't wait for more and am so excited to read more about these McCallister men.

When I read a book many times a song will pop into my head that relates to the story. Well this particular song stuck with me the whole read. It’s “Collide” by Howie Day. This song seem to perfectly sum up Shiloh and Brody. This is a story of two polar opposites who just shouldn’t be together. Yet somehow fate or destiny as you may call it steps in and these two individual collide. They don’t just collide they’re like two planets who crash into one another and create their own world. When they are together it’s like magnets that can’t be pulled apart. Their meeting was like it was deigned by the Gods. So unlikely yet so meant to be.
Both have their secrets and a past they seem to be hiding from. Seriously, who doesn’t? Yet these two have off the charts chemistry. It’s like they can read each other’s mind.

I really don’t want to get into the story because that is not fair to the author or you. Read the book enjoy the story for yourself. I will say their chemistry is lava hot! You’ll laugh, be swept off your feet, tear up, get angry, fall in love with one of the characters, Noah. If you don’t check your heart because you must be Grinch like. There’s also people that will make your skin crawl and some you heart will go out to. If you’ve read the first book in the series you’ll be happy to know you will be reacquainted with characters from the first book. Don’t worry though if you’ve haven’t read it you won’t be lost. In my opinion you will most likely go back and the first book because it’s so good!

Not only did I enjoy the story it brought up some interesting questions to my mind. Questions like, do you believe in destiny, in higher level powers, does the past define us, how long do we spend do try to clear up our past, are we responsible for the sins of our father/mother, how long do we repent for the past, can you repent for the past, how long do we ponder over decisions that we make that can’t be changed, can we really change or are we deluding ourselves, can two polar opposites really make it happily together?

I can’t wait to see what book the author writes next in this series. There’s so many to choose from. I have one in my mind but I’m not saying.
After you read this book go look up the lyrics to “Collide” and see what I’m referring to.

It's the epic journey of a love story between Shiloh Leroux and Brody McAllister. We meet Brody in When The Stars Fall and see him as a fun loving youngster and seemingly, easy going guy. But there was also always a bit of something brewing beneath the surface with him. And Emery completely unleashed him in WTSB. He's curt and brisk and somewhat rude. He doesn't have the time, energy or desire for games and drama. He's all man now. Hardened. A little rough around the edges. But he has a good heart and it's in the right place. He's a hot AF single dad to Noah. There were times when he had me swooning. He was complex and had a past that's not the easiest to overcome and it's a small miracle he turned out okay and to be such a hard worker and a good man/father. Also, quite the southern charmer.

This was also one of those books where I'm not sure if I loved the hero or the heroine more. I have a MAJOR girl crush on Shiloh. Would love to be friends with that girl. She was strong, subtle, driven and kind. Brave and took no crap. Held her own but was still a good friend and grounded. Humble and loyal. She's made her fair share of mistakes over the years which just proves she's human. And she has her own rather tragic past to deal with but she was beautiful, even in the moments she allowed herself to be weak in. She was fun and entertaining.

The chemistry between these two was INSANE when it finally broke pun intended). There was a push and pull between them for a while. Man, did they fight it. But together they were combustible, pure fire 🔥 They were funny and good friends with plenty of banter and cute moments. I loved their relationship. A very unique dynamic but still kept realistic. My pony boy and rockstar! 😍

I don’t know how I feel about this book. I’m really struggling with female characters lately. Because I didn’t love Shiloh as much as I wanted to. I think once we got to the point that she was going to record with Dean, I felt like it was over for me. And over for her and Brody. Like… how she handled things really affected Brody, Noah and Ridge. And I would have liked to see her apologize to all 3.

I’m surprised she never told Dean that Landry forced her to give up the baby. I think I also expected to see more from Dean in this toxic light. And we didn’t really get that.

I definitely enjoyed this book. But there’s definitely some things missing. 😬😕 I’m really surprised that she still chooses music over Brody. I feel like she could have stopped her career and focused on the horse farms with Brody.

I have to agree with a previous review about Shiloh. This book is great don’t get me wrong. So please give it a chance. Her writing is beautiful. I absolutely love this author. And did enjoy this book. Go in blind, this purely my own opinion.

But the way it ended…. I just. Maybe I wanted something more for Brody, or maybe this just didn’t hit me the same. It really shows he was always still looking down on himself and she did not help him with that. Like it looked in the beginning. Don’t get me wrong it’s not her responsibility to save him. But he worked hard, and at the first bad turn she turned her back on him, lost all faith, and the way she goes at him just is horrible. and blew up his life. And she barely makes up for this. It takes her so long to go to fix it, and she doesn’t even feel the need to fix it until she find out about her brother, which still didn’t really have anything to do with what she actually said. I just feel with how much he tries to be good, and a good dad, she was very selfish in so many moments. And I feel Noah got lost in the shuffle. I don’t think she makes his life better. I could feel the love, I just. It was, there were so many moments where you actually feel like you don’t want Shiloh to have Brody. I just I don’t know. If you are someone that doesn’t like it when people don’t actually own up to what they have done in the break up, like the redemption is a bit not fulfilling, and the single dad part importance good, crashing and not fully being fixed. I don’t. I liked the start, I just do, I felt Brody deserved more respect. He still was the one trying to fix the redemption and just accepts a barely there apology. She just gets away with it all. And I don’t get that.
