This book was okay for the most part but overall I felt like there were too many sections where it felt like nothing was happening and it became boring. Also the romance was a bit lackluster and it made it hard for me to connect to these characters as a couple. I actually expected more suspense since the beginning of the story started off that way but there was little to no investigation or problem-solving happening for the majority of the book. So again, it was more boring than anything else.

And just to get bitchy for moment, I got irrationally annoyed when the author threw in a random mention of the pandemic. Something stupid like "they had more of a physical presence before the pandemic" This was 73% into the book and before this the pandemic was not once mentioned. I actually went back to re-read the prologue to see if I missed something that indicated the timeline was during the pandemic and that Chapter 1 started 6 years after the pandemic. It did not. It's stupid to complain about but it was so random it confused me.

The real life tale of how this author has stalked AK Evans is so much more suspenseful than this plagiarized book.

Just read AK Evans post about how this author, her SISTER-IN-LAW, has stalked and plagiarized everything from her books, to her social media posts, down to character names and on and on. Buckle up because it’s an INSANE wild ride

I was pulled in from the very first page, and it never let me go. I have been waiting for Addy and Ace to come together for a while. If you have read any of the Carmel Cove Series you will recognize both of them, Addy is Eve's sister, Eve's HEA was in Besotted, and Ace is one of the owners of Covington Security, who have popped up in each of the books so far. You could tell that there was an attraction between the two and that something had happened to Addy but it was all a mystery until now. This was the perfect way to start the Covington Security Series.

Addy's story is one that will break your heart but I promise it will be put back together again because Ace is just the person to do it. Ace has been looking out for Addy for six years and now that she's in danger his protective streak only gets more intense. If you enjoy an Alpha male Ace will check all of your boxes, he's former military - Navy Seal, he is head of a private security firm, and he is super protective of those he cares about...what more can you want? Oh yeah, he takes his Scandinavian heritage to heart with his Viking hair cut, and tattoos....YUM!

I love the friends-to-lovers aspect of this story but what I love even more was the way this overprotective Alpha let his Miss Independent come to terms with certain things. He knew that she needed to be able to do things for herself but he made sure they were done safely for years, until someone was after her and then all bets were off and he'd do anything to make sure nothing happened to her again.

This story as I said pulled me in right away, it was not an easy first few pages to read but they set the tone of the story and shed a lot of light on who Addy was now. There is so much I want to tell you about what had happened to her but I don't put spoilers in my reviews so just know that she was Betrayed in the worst way and she has been trying to atone for the horror she had unknowingly aided. I realize that sounds a bit cryptic but again no spoilers, and honestly I don't believe she didn't have anything to atone for but she believed she did. You read the book and tell me what you think.

This book can be read as a standalone, you do not have to have read any of the other series in order to enjoy this book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Romantic Suspense or Friends-to-Lovers Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

I really hate when a book cover doesn’t match the character’s description …. One half of his head was buzzed short, letting the shadows of a series of tribal-like tattoos through while the dark blonde hair on the other half of his skull was braided and pulled back into a tight bun. Yeah, that’s not what the cover shows.

Anyhoo.

Excellent start. She’s betrayed by her rich politician boyfriend, which leads to her fake death and new identity.

But, there’s a huge believability problem here….

After her fake death, she remains where her brother and sister live, which is her HOMETOWN and just an hour away from where she previously lived with the BF. The BF knows that she spoke to her brother the night she found out his secret and he tried to kill her. It’s not believable that the BF didn’t go after the brother to at least see what he knew, which would’ve alerted the BF that the FMC isn’t dead. Not believable that a former special forces guy (MMC) would wouldn’t point out that faking your death 101 means no where familiar and you changing your name. She lives in her hometown, with her brother, under the same name, doing the same line of work. Huh?

Then, six years passes, and she does a TV interview. Again, huh? You’re hiding. You’re dead. But, you willingly do a TV interview in your hometown for a women’s shelter? Huh?

There’s a sweet spot (20%-50%) where we get some funny, angsty, sarcastic banter and see how patient and good the MMC is along with how hurt the FMC is in the aftermath of the ex boyfriend.

Dante and the MMC interactions were funny.

Sexual tension between MMC and FMC is sexy and sweet, even if six years is a long ass time to be in denial.

After 50%, though, this story starts to just feel like a hamster wheel. Same thing on repeat said a thousand ways.

Bad guy’s helper is obvious. All the talk, talk, talk about checking video and investigating this and that element of the plot is too long, too boring, and too obvious.

Her running off is NOT original, but it’s written like she’s being so smart in doing so. Nope, still TSTL.

Ending is done too quickly and with no real drama. Feels rushed.

By the end, I’ve lost interest and just skim through the sex scene and HEA, which is never a good sign for the characters nor plot.

Meh at best. Feel like I’ve read this story in a nutshell by several other authors. Editing is good, but originality is seriously lacking.

2 generous stars.

The book itself was basically a rehash of the far superior Obsessed by AK Evans, only dull and hackneyed.

And as for the laughable rebuttal by Dr Rebecca Sharp to AK Evan's expose article, all I can say is... NOBODY WHO ACTUALLY READS BOTH ARTICLES IS FOOLED, DR SHARP. Try addressing the actual allegations rather than writing a sulky rant designed to obfuscate the fact that you've been caught bang to rights, and then we'll talk. And genuinely, why 'Dr' Rebecca Sharp? You're writing (ripping off) romance novels, not self help guides. A friend of mine called this 'the literary equivalent of bunny boiling', and BINGO.

This book was absolutely incredible. I recieved an arc copy of this so I won't give away too much with the storyline. This book was everything I didn't know I was looking for in a book. It was absolutely amazing. I loved Addy and Ace together. The push and pull between both of them was fire and when they finally got together phew was it absolutely everything.
I can't wait to see more of this series from this amazing author.
The mystery of the story definitely kept my attention as well as this very epic love story about finding yourself and your love.

I’m ecstatic that Sharp decided to write this spin-off series. Ace and Addy are fire together. They compliment each other so well and their chemistry is electric. Betrayed definitely has more suspense and mystery to it than any of the others in the Carmel Cove series and it’s a really nice change of pace. I hope the rest of the books in the series have that suspense aspect to them. Plus who doesn’t love a good bodyguard trope?!

Betrayed by Rebecca Sharp was a very smart romantic suspense with lots of heat and action. It was at the same time inspiring and edgy. You get steamy romance. You get suspense and thrill. You get some delicious alpha hero and strong heroine and their emotional love story.

Addy has lost her life. Almost. She was betrayed by her fiance and politician who was running human trafficking operations behind their charitable foundation. And was saved by her brother Zeke and Ace Covington, the head of Covington Security. She had to build a new life because everyone thinks she is dead. She hasn't stopped trying to help women who need it and is running her own foundation. But her past has caught up with her and Ace Covington won't let anything happen to the woman he considers his. Even when Addy doesn't want to rely on anyone.

I loved the fast paced action movie like feel of this story. So many twists. So many puzzle pieces. I was biting my nails while reading this cat and mouse game. Addy is an amazing woman. She was hurt and broken beyond imagination. But she slowly put her pieces together and came back stronger. She cannot trust anyone easily anymore and she pushed away Ace repeatedly for that. But Ace Covington is the ultimate alpha man and he won't stop caring for her and going to extremes of protectiveness to save her from all danger. He is so possessive and with all the edgy strength. He is skilled to kill their enemies and nurture the woman he loves. They have nuclear hot chemistry and when they surrendered, wow, it was a nuclear explosion! Ace had a tough job to crack the barrier around Addy's heart and Addy had to accept that she has a right to love and happiness before accepting Ace!

Rebecca Sharp combined suspense and passion with some intense emotions in Betrayed. You are in for an adrenaline filled journey.

Flip! I swear this author goes from strength to strength! Loved this first book in a new series so much!

I was really excited to get a series featuring the Covington brothers, who appear in the Carmel Cove series, and kicking off with the gorgeous Viking-esque, ex-military, protective alpha, Ace.

"I'd always been drawn to men who carried a powerful presence with them, and this man didn't just have it in spades, he wielded it like a weapon."

Addison Williams is technically dead but, in reality, she's in hiding. She's a pretty tough cookie - so independent and stubborn, but with a heart of gold. When a danger from the past comes knocking on her door, things start to heat up for her, as well as between these two friends, who've been tiptoeing around each other for six years. Holy hotness, Batman! Ace and Addy had some seriously scorching chemistry! However, Addy had been holding herself away from any form of trust and hurt that she was blind to how Ace had been constantly showing her that he was exactly she needed.

"Wanting someone...wanting to be with someone...doesn't make you weak."

This book was a thrilling read and I was completely sucked in from the prologue. I loved Ace! He was domineering but gentle, too. He had his desire for Addy on such a tight leash that I had to wonder how he'd held on to it for six long years! Addy was hella obstinate but I loved how she was all in once she'd made up her mind that she needed Ace in her life; that giving in to him didn't make her weak, but made her so much stronger. This was a pacy, well-plotted and well-executed story that had me hooked to the very end. It was suspenseful, super darn sexy and pretty emotional. A definite must-read from this fabulous author.

I AM OBSESSED! Oh my, this is going to be one of my most anticipated series from Rebecca for sure. I mean, I'm not saying I anticipated less for her other books. But this first book just got me!

So, six years ago, Addy got into a situation where she had to fake her death. Ace was called to provide her with protection. She basically became a guarded person after that. For 6 years, Ace has just been waiting on the sideline, keeping his feelings for her deep inside his pocket. He waited all those years for her to be strong enough to need him. Ace just really knows what she needed. Because after what her ex did to her, she swore to never let any man inside her heart ever again.

Ace! Oh my, is it hot in here! I loved him! He's like the most protective guy ever! And he wasn't even being a brute about it either. But he's also not the sweetest guy. He's just like what Addy calls him, her 'guardian viking'. The sexual tension between these two.. Oh my goodness! Everything he said just oozes possessiveness. He knows what he wants and that’s Addy for-effin’-ever! Once he got his chance, he’s all in! I don’t think I can get over this guy

Betrayed (Covington Security #1) by Rebecca Sharp
5 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Human Trafficking, murder, attempted murder.
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Addy is living the best life that she can muster right now. After she realized her soon to be fiance was not whom he claimed, she was in extreme danger and despite the fact that she escaped, Addy can't help but hide, start over and try again. Addy wants justice for the lives that she couldn't help. When she gains some press for her new venture, little does she know that it will cause her past and present to collide violently.

Ace knows that Addy is stubborn, smart and the strongest person he knows. He wants to help Addy see her strength. But, after her past comes back and starts to mess with their future, Ace is done waiting on the sidelines.

As Addy and Ace race against someone else's clock to save more people, including Addy's piece of mind, they can't help but fall more in love in the process. Ace shows Addy that he isnt' scared off by her strength and Addy learns that she has to celebrate the sucessess as much as the losses.

Together, with Ace's seurity brothers they have to take down Addy's past piece by piece.

These two have amazing chemistry that has been building for years. Because they have a quasi friendship first, I think it makes their relationship that much stronger. I am so glad to have read this book and can't wait for Dante's. He was hilarious and I have no doubt that his book will be filled with hilarity and steamy scenes.

I loved the Carmel Cove series but these Convington men have surpassed them for sure. I know the characters are all the same but there is something special about these men. I’ve been waiting for Addy’s book since her & Ace were first introduced in the Carmel Cove books. That hot, thick tension/chemistry that ignited & burst into a fiery passion. Finally.

Addy’s past was way worse than what I had thought it was going to be. I was always curious about her story & to realize it was so much deeper & complicated surprised me. Especially learning how far back her & Ace’s story goes.

I loved seeing these two finally give in & get the happily ever after they both most certainly deserve. The story line itself was so interesting & scary that it kept me hooked the whole way. Can’t wait to see the next alpha man from Covington Security fall.

Warning, this is a sexy 5 Star book that you will not be able to put down! ‘Betrayed - Covington Security #1’ is a new spin off series by Dr. Rebecca Sharp. While I LOVE the Carmel Cove series, I am already obsessed with this new series, which is set in Carmel Cove and features Covington Security.

‘Betrayed’ pulled me in instantly. Addison (Addy) is violently attacked by her boyfriend and was thought to be dead, which is just what she must let everyone believe in order to stay alive. Addy arrives in Carmel Cove, where she comes under the protection of Ace Covington of Covington Security. Addy is the last person that Ace should fall for; he is on the job. But, some things just can’t be fought. Of course, there is so much more than just Addy & Ace’s budding romance; this story has twists and turns that left me on the edge of my seat.

Addy and Ace have intense chemistry and I loved, loved their story. The men of Covington Security are sizzling hot and I can’t wait to read more in this series! Dr. Rebecca Sharp never disappoints! Betrayed is a Romantic Suspense, that has a sprinkle of Forbidden Romance given that Ace is hired to protect Addy, not fall in love with her.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I definitely recommend reading this sexy gem!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

3.5*s

This is the first book in a new series, and there is some world building, although much of what we learn happens organically so there is no feeling of stuff being explained, it just falls out naturally.

Whilst I really enjoyed the premise of this book, I did feel that we were sometimes required to suspend disbelief a little too much. I can absolutely believe that Addy could be incognito in a country as large as the USA - even that she could be under the radar and still close to ex-fiancé Mitch, but that she could work with her siblings in a women's refuge in the same city and not expect him to find her?
I also found the length of time that it had taken to find a way to out him was also incredible - especially when they were in theory such experts.

That said I enjoyed the back burner attitude that Addy and Ace had to the simmering attraction between them, and the explosiveness of their relationship once they finally gave into it. It was crazy to think that it took them six years to reach a point where they could be honest with each other, and Addy with herself. I though that the attitude of the others to them finally getting together was funny - and Dante would no doubt take some credit for forcing the issue with his flirting!

It will be interesting to see what the Covington Security guys will be involved in next and how that plays out romantically for one of them!

Let’s talk about “Betrayed by Dr. Rebecca Sharp”, first book in the Covington Security series.
❤️
I’m seriously loving this romantic suspense vibe from Rebecca! Her Carmel Cove series is one of my favorite ever, and then she took of some characters from there and created this amazing new series. Betrayed brought everything I love in a story, of lot of romance, strong and fierce female lead, bossy-alpha-sin-protector male character, a lot of connections with side characters, which obviously made me want all the next books in the series, so much steam and obviously some suspense!

If you find stubborn in the dictionary you all find Addie waving at you there. That girl is that and so much more, she has the most beautiful heart ever, so selfless, strong and six years after she had to fake her death because of her despising ex, she is ready for revenge. I can’t imagine what it’d be to live in her shoes, knowing that your ex is responsible for a lot of missing women due to human trafficking. But she is not alone, apart from her family, she has Ace.

Damnnnn, Ace! The man is HOT! He is the owner of an elite security business and from the day he saved Addie, she’s the only one he wants but can’t have. Until her past comes knocking on her door and wants her dead. I think he would sell his soul for her safety, peace, happiness and her heart. I loved how he protected, respect and loved her. The possessiveness and that dirty mouth, so steamy. Ohhh don’t let me forget, he is portrait like a Viking style man! Oh dear lord!

He is everything that Addie needs and absolutely deserves, I mean, what every woman deserves! I’m freakin’ obsessed with them and I loved the suspense, thrilling and romantic ending. At least now we have the other guys from Covington Security books to wait for!

I never read a book’s synopsis as I prefer going into a story completely blind and discovering everything about it for myself, so it was a fabulous surprise to find that this new series is linked to another written by this author and one that I am thoroughly enjoying reading too…… Carmel Cove.

I absolutely loved reading Betrayed. I loved being back in Carmel Cove and with the focus of this series being on those at Covington Security, there was the added thrill of seeing how their operations work.

Betrayed is Ace and Addy’s story and it was one that had me gripped from the very first chapter. I absolutely loved seeing this pair together. I was rooting for them from the moment I realised there was more between them than just friendship and I loved how Ace behaved around Addy - knowing just what she needed and how far to push. The sexual chemistry between the couple almost melted my kindle. I do love to see an alpha male in action!

I can’t not write this review without saying how much I adore Addy. Her strength and determination are two of the qualities that I admire about her. I hated how much she unjustifiably punished herself for something that was out of her control. She deserves all the happiness life can bestow upon her and I hope that as the series continues, we see an abundance of this.

I did guess where one part of the storyline was leading, and I’d normally deduct a star for that as I prefer to be kept wondering and in the dark and then be surprised by a big reveal. However, this storyline kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end and I enjoyed witnessing the pieces fall into place - so I award Betrayed 4.5 stars.

I highly recommend this book to you to read. I’m already excited for Bribed which will be the second book in this series, and it is planned to be released later this year.

Ever read a book and wonder why it took you so long to read an author? That's what Betrayed does. I'm kicking myself for waiting to Rebecca Sharp.

Ace Covington is a viking of a man. When Sharp describes him that way it's perfect. This gorgeous, amazing, giant is everything we want in a man. He's also perfect for Addison. She's got absolutely no sense of self preservation. While it makes me want to shake her it's also done out of her love for others.

Addison Williams' life looked perfect from the outside, a loving, wealthy, honorable fiance, her perfect life mapped out for her. When Addy accidentally find something on her fiance's computer in a matter of minutes her life is changed forever. Her perfect life was built on a lie and her fiance was a liar. When Addy finds his secret he only has one option and it's not Addy living. Her twin brother calls in a friend who helps Addy fake her death.

Six years after Addison's life was turned upside down her past comes back and she's got nowhere to hide. With the past repeating itself she refuses to hide. She wants to face her demon head on. Ace has other plans. He wants to keep Addy alive more than anything. He's loved her for years and won't allow her to put herself in danger.

Betrayed is action packed and amazing. I loved Addison and Ace. Their connection was amazing and their relationship so much fun to read. The plot of this book was amazing and Sharp executed it perfect. Betrayed was the perfect start to the Covington Security series and I can't wait to see what Sharp does with book two.

5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future.
4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it.
3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories.
2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort.
1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.

Addison sees her life evaporate when she discovers her fiancé has been using her foundation to traffic in women. She knows that she has to stop him, but before she can do anything she is found out and Mitch tries to kill her.
Fortunately, her brother Zeke asks Ace Covington for help and they save her at the last minute.
6 years later Addy is still trying to help women in precarious situations but she still hasn't forgotten all those she lost because of Mitch, the guilt is eating her and Ace does everything he can to convince her that they will soon destroy Mitch once and for all.
Ace fell in love with Addy the moment he saved her and has been patiently waiting for the moment when she opens up to love again, but it's quite difficult despite the strong attraction they have for each other.
But now Mitch has found her again and wants to finish what he started, only this time Addy is not alone, since she has her Viking and the rest of his men to protect her.
I loved the story and I loved Ace and the patience that he always has with Addy.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last.

Stunning. I was excited to read Addy’s story having met this character through the Carmel Cove series. She is dedicated to helping woman in abusive situations to rebuilt their lives but for all her strength, she never allows herself to be truly happy. Betrayed allows us to peal back all the layers and learn who betrayed her and how hard she has had to work to rebuilt her life. But she carries a secret because to the world, she died 6 years ago so going on camera to promote Blooms is a huge risk. When strange things start to happen, Ace steps in and insists she stays with him so he can keep her safe. Now, these two, Addy and Ace, have a wonderful spark but she believes she isn’t worthy of love. As they work to unravel the mess that has become Addy’s life, will she learn it’s ok to lean on someone else? Can she forgive herself for what happened years ago? I loved this story. My heart was in my throat several times but then it would be restored through the hope and determination that both Addy and Ace showed. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

I’ve been looking forward to this since the prequel novella in The “love is in the air” anthology. And boy it doesn’t disappoint

The start of the book is a repeat of the novella but from a different point of view, so if you haven’t read it you get the same great start to the storyline and if you have, then you get a view of what happened from Addy’s perspective.

Ace is just alpha hot hot hot...who doesn’t want an Ace in their life. With a good amount of empathy he approaches Addy with care and rather than being demanding and bossy (all the time!) he instead works hard to help her understand what’s going on treats her so gently (well until the gloves come off...)

A really good storyline with fantastic supporting characters introduced and strong world building. Moments of humour dotted through this book, combined really well with the seriousness of the underlying topic.
No angst but high danger and an entirely satisfactory HEA.

I can’t wait for Dante’s story - I love it when the heartbreakers fall.

Oh and the flat hand steering wheel thing....totally does it for me too *swoon*

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved this story.!!
This is the first book in a brand new spin off series by Rebecca Sharp, with characters that will be familiar to some readers who have read her Carmel Cove series.
This is Addy and Ace's romance and they are like a chemical reaction, they ignite when they are together, whether that be sexually or agrumentatively.
What a fantastic series this is going to be intense and suspenseful,Addy has had trauma in her past that she survived and it was Ace who saved her all those years ago.
As part of Covington security Ace is very protective and feels she needs saving again,as a new threat looms.
Ace is the epitome of a bossy alpha, and despite what she has been through ,Addy is a strong woman and stands up for herself.I loved their banter, the back and forth between them and the steamy chemistry they have.
Rebecca's words are addictive and thoroughly entertaining they draw you in and you are immediately transported into a stimulating story that will keep you hooked.
This is an exceptionally thrilling page turner of a book emotional, sexy and compelling and a fantastic beginning to an exciting series.

You certainly won’t feel betrayed when you read this first Covington Security story, as it is on fire!!!! The chemistry between Ace and Addy is red hot and there is no shortage of it!
Ace is alpha and protective, while Addy is strong and independent.....Ace has a fight on his hands to show her how good they could be together.
When Addy’s life is threatened it brings back memories of her past trauma....when she is forced to move in with Ace for her own safety, the close confines escalates their attraction and Addy finally sees what she could have, if only she would allow herself to let go.

With an intriguing suspense story running through it, this book totally captured my interest and I loved every minute of it.
A brilliant start to this series and really great to meet all the guys of Covington Security. I can’t wait to read Dante’s story next.

I recieved an Arc of this pending an honest review. Let start by saying I have moved Rebecca Sharp up to an auto buy author. This book just confirms why!! Betrayed is the first book in her new Covington Security series which is a continuing arc of her Carmel Cove series. Our hero is the swoony Ace Covington and our heroine is Addy Williams. Ace our Viking( Addies description) is alpha to the nth degree! He saved Addy 6 years ago when she was a victim of an attempted murder. Addy after everything she went through is a strong, vulnerable women. The sparks ( tame word) these ignite in each other is off the charts!! Rebecca has a way of writing her sexy times that I want a cild shower and a cigarette after!! I loved this book and can't wait to read more!!

Gah! I have been waiting for the Covington men to get their story since I Redemption! I loved Ace, I adored how he was patient, alpha, and oh so protective while trying to let Addison maintain her independence that she needed.
Addison took me a bit to like, to be honest, Dr Rebecca Sharp did an incredible job of making me come to not only root for Addison, but to also look deeper and and love her.
This book is a fantastic read about not just finding love but about finding a way to love oneself again as well.
