I'm loving everything that Aleatha Romig is writing at the moment! And Devils Deal is no exception with how good it is!!!

Billionaire bad boy check ✅
Strong Female lead check ✅
Addictive dark romance check ✅ I honestly couldn't put this book down.

Set in New Orleans a city where Rett Ramses is King and boy he's everything you want in a male lead, he's controlling, Dominant, and fearless!!! He's kidnapped Emma all to protect her but ultimately to make her his Queen!!!! Will Emma agree to the deal with the devil himself? Will she give herself and submit to Rett fully?

I honestly couldn't put this down it has everything you could want in a dark romance!! I suggest to read how these two first met in the novella, Fate's Demand, which even then you can feel the sexual tension and the chemistry is off the scale hot!!!! But it of course carries on throughout this book too. I honestly cannot wait to see what else is to come from these two, I urge you to read anything by Aleatha Romig cause beileve me once you start you won't be able to stop!!!!!!

Happy Pub Day!

I highly recommend reading the prequel novella, Fate's Demand, before starting this first book of the duet. It's free on kindle, and was previously published in the One More Step anthology.

“Fate had destined our union. It’s a deal for my city and for your life. You may be an angel, but I’m the devil. Never forget that.”

description

Everett "Rett" Ramses is sex on a stick. That's it. That's the review.

Kidding. But if you combine that with the humid, magical atmosphere of New Orleans, some suspenseful plot involving rival crime families, and lots of steamy scenes, you definitely want in on this new duology. If your life was on the line, would you make a deal with the devil? I'd like to think any of us, if put in a compromising position where someone was trying to kill us might make the same choice. This book is a wild ride that follows said decision, but please note this does end in a cliffhanger and the story will be resolved in the next installment, Angel's Promise. Luckily, we won't have to wait long!

*Many thanks to Wildfire Marketing for my review copy.

I have always loved the mystique, history, and lore surrounding New Orleans and Aleatha Romig piqued my interest even more with Devil's Deal.
Emma is a simple woman who has been dealt a terrible hand in life. She is drawn to New Orleans to meet with an investor in her and her partners company. She meets and is entangled into a web of mystery and intriguing stories by Rett, the King of New Orleans. He spins tales of murder and protection to ensnare her to trust him and allow him to protect her.
This story is fascinating and enchanting, it captured this readers attention and wouldn't let me go.

One tiny sip of the delicious heady cocktail of passion, lust and mystery in One More Step titled Fate's Demand and I felt the potent rush you get when you are about to ride a Rollercoaster.
I couldn't not jump into Devil's Deal right away to chase the proverbial high.
It's provocative and alluring tale of immoral desires and thirsty ambitions.
Aleatha's skill in weaving tumultuous, entangled stories of love are legendary, when she embellishes them with hints of danger and thrill, the combination makes the story shine everytime. Her alphas are absolute authority. They make a grand entrance and immediately lay claim to the damsels in danger.

"Hearts are only useful to circulate oxygen through our bloodstream. Marry me and yours will keep beating. I have no other use for it.”"

description

The Devil in question is Everett Ramses, son of Abraham Ramses, a once king of New Orleans and he's here to claim his pound of flesh by either eliminating the rival or undercut by betrothing the enemy's daughter. He is accepting of his lack of morals and principals, his ultimate desire - his lust for power at any cost and by any means.
She's Emma North nee O'Brian. She's a strong, level headed woman. Successful in her own right and naturally curious and skeptical. Regal and graceful, she was born to be the Queen.

As the daughter of a king, you’re destined to be a princess about to be coronated a queen. And equally as significant, as the daughter of a whore, you’re perfect to not only handle my desires but to also find pleasure in them.”

description

There's the quintessential bar meet, and I almost expected a cocktail napkin to seal the deal...😁. I mean all her books do happen to have the "deal over drinks" in common 😆
Emma is swept away under the guise of precaution and subconsciously she does find her safety net in Everett at first.
The story progresses with a blindfolded ride into Everett's lair, where ghosts of the past whisper and sentries of the present stand guard. It's a one way street for her. A golden cage.

“Honey, you have the power of a siren, the beauty of an angel, and fate has landed you in a place where you can do what couldn’t be done before.”

description

Since it's the first book in the Duet, it mostly lays the groundwork for more secrets to be unveiled, more skeletons waiting to tumble out. I'm always promised an engaging read and Aleatha always delivers.i had shivers running down my spine at some places, couldn't put it down, such strong was it's hold. I'm fully involved and invested and cannot wait for book two now.

2 😔😔⭐️s

I am sorry to say that I have read much better books by this author... 😔😔
This part was dragging, some lines degraded the heroine, didn’t bring out great emotions, the main characters felt flat and their connection indifferent.
The ‘submissive’ part of their relationship wasn’t intriguing and convincing.
I will not read the last part of this duet... 😔

WOW, Okay I really need the second book like right now! This story was so gripping, and had me hanging on every single word.

Emma has gone to New Orleans for a meeting, but the meeting she has is so very different from the one she had anticipated.

Everett "Rett" Ramses knows what he wants and does whatever he needs to do in order to obtain it. What he wants now is Emma as his wife and he won't accept NO for an answer.

This story was filled with so much suspense, you are left wondering what is real and what isn't. I would highly recommend reading FATE'S DEMAND first, it's currently free and if you have purchased the Bookworm Box anthology ONE MORE STEP you will find it there titled as THE DEAL.

This story ended with a crazy cliffhanger, which Aleatha Romig is the Queen of, I cannot wait to see how things turn out in ANGEL'S PROMISE.

If you enjoy Dark Romances or Romantic Suspense I would recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

DECADENT, SINFUL & FICKLE FATE

“Fate had destined our union. It’s a deal for my city and for your life. You may be an angel, but I’m the devil. Never forget that.”

DEVIL’S DEAL caught me in its web of raw, sexual energy and mystery. It has all the dark and speculative beginnings of a seductively exotic suspensor for a a marked woman and a secretive kingpin’s mysterious “life-or-death deal" that she blindly accepts. This is the lst book in the duet, after the prequel story Fate’ s Demand of their first meeting where Rett seduced Emma right off her feet, and me in this book. Totally absorbing.

DELICIOUSLY MESMERIZING is what this book is all because of an agreement to fulfill fate’s demand. Fate is a powerful seducer and motivator in a tense and steamy romance set within the mystery and allure of New Orleans, which is every bit as hot and sticky as the goings-on. A rivalry without end between two crime families. A beautiful pawn and a union foretold. The predictions of a kind woman who talks to spirits of the dead. Threats from every direction. And a panty-melting couple that raises the temp about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The murder, mayhem, and manipulations will have you rubbing your hands in glee. This is what AR does best. Tie us up in knots.

Criminal kingpin Rett likes to be in control, but fate sends Emma his way. The stone cold fox has certain demands, in and out of the bedroom, when he orchestrates Emma’s kidnapping for her protection and to be his bride. The choice: choose him, or choose death. What choice does she have but to make a deal with the devil? War is brewing for Rett’s empire, and Emma’s the mysterious key. Will the beauty fall for her beast? Is this more than a match of necessity? Their family histories are entangled in ways that Emma doesn’t even realize in fate and destiny. Nothing goes as planned.

“Love is a weakness.” They were so at odds. He’s a force of nature with a demand for patience. She’s a force of resistance with a demand for freedom. Can the mighty King bend for his Queen? Their relationship is a wild ride of sexuality, defiance, demands, romance, and hidden truths. An erotic mini-war of their own in a slow dance that finally … let’s just say that I got lost in the excitement and momentum of the drama and some very surprising events that tighten the tension and compound the mystery threatening the couple. The pulsating dynamic between them had me all amped up in a slow and sexy build to that cliffy. A deal's a deal, but does the devil speak with a forked tongue? Prepare for the finale Angel’s Promise.

“Remember my rule. You promised, angel."

OH WOW! Aleatha Romig never fails to amaze me because of the twist and turns and surprises she manages to weave into the plot. And this book absolutely took things to another level when it comes to intrigue and suspense.

Everett Ramses rules New Orleans. Someone who knows the in and out of the crime world.  A dominant man who wants only one woman to be his queen. Emma North was intrigued why a man of Everett's stature wants her. As the story unfolds, Everett will tell Emma something that contradicts whatever she knows about her family. Did she believe him? Will she put her trust in a man whom she barely knew?

Devil's Deal had me hooked from the first page. The characters are colorful, the plotline is complex and twisty. While the sexy scene is sort of a side plot but never fails to add spice. With that kind of ending, I'm anxious to know what happens next in Angel's Promise. I would recommend it to anyone who likes mystery, suspense and of course, romance.

I am a sucker for this author’s work so I was super excited to jump into this new book. While I enjoyed the premise, I didn’t warm up to the hero or the heroine. Everett “Rett” Ramses was the epitome of an alpha. But there was something about him that had me wavering. The dominant/submissive plot in the story seemed forced rather than natural. Emma North just too easy and at times wishy washy. I get that the hero was handsome and had a presence, but to me, that first scene in the restaurant was way too fast. But once again my opinion and maybe that was why I didn’t really connect with her.

I will say that I loved the twists and turns that this author so freely adds to her stories. There was mystery and suspense as well. The ending was very intriguing and I think I connected a few dots. Emma did start to show me that there was maybe more to her. But......what you think and what you get can sometimes blow your mind so I’m not convinced I know where this author is going. So while I may has a few issues with this first book, I do look forward to the next book to see how Aleatha’d my mind will be!!

This story was filled with mystery. Twists and turns you didn't see coming.

We follow the story of Everett Ramses and Emma O’Brien. Emma ventures to New Orleans with a friend for a supposed job proposal. Not quite the truth. That all changes the night she meets the likes of Everett, better known as Rett.
He tells her his plan --- that she will be his wife and they will rule together. She doesn't really get much of a say and ends up back at his home, unable to leave. Is she a captive? Is he a villain? Are his intentions pure or something else?

I didn't really like Rett for most of the book. He still isn't on my favorites list. He was very cold and calculating. Guess you had to be when you rule a town like he has to. Can't show any weakness or love towards anyone.

Emma was complex. She pushed back when she needed to, but I think she just didn't have enough backbone for someone like Rett. She didn't ask enough questions and was often left out of many things. Just along for the seedy ride. She had no idea what to believe or who to trust.

They had amazing chemistry together though. They were hot when they had it and I wished there were more of it.

I have reservation about Devil's Deal. I do not read much of Miss Romig's books. Although there are a lot of positive reviews of her work.

Devil's Deal have that feeling. The suspense, the mystery and the chemistry. But I am not completely hook on the story/ plot.

I guess I have to find out more on the next book.

Only Aleatha can do a cliffhanger with you sitting on the edge of your seat and clawing to hold on by your finger tips. Emma Obrien or is it North was in New Orleans on a business deal with her business partner. Now she is capture/mesmerized to dinner with Rhett Ramses King of New Orleans. Before Emma realize it she swept off her feet an into Rhetts Ramses arms and is now a guess in his mansion and told of her real heritage. After losing both parents and her brother in a crash, Emma finds out that she and her brother Kyle were adopted...now Emma has no one and put her trust in Rhett and this new imposed threat over her life. Rhett claims he will keep her safe from.

This is where the story takes a spin who do Emma believe the one person who have secluded her from everyone to depend/submit to him only. The brother Kyle who is claimed to be Isaiah Boudreau the II now and presumed to be dead now for four years. Or the old woman Miss Guidry telling her Ghost/Spirit stories about the spirit world, which is so believable cause Emma just want a crumb of information anyone can give her. Is Rhett trying to keep the Boudreau & Ramses fortune for himself by eliminate Kyle and marrying Emma or is Kyle the actual threat like Rhett states that. trying to claim New Orleans for hisself and eliminate Emma the actual aire. Between the body counts adding up and the rushed wedding who should Emma trust? The man in her bed or the man who hunting her or are they the same. When a man tells you "You may be an Angel but I'm the devil, Never forget that" believe him. So many questions, mysteries, lies, sex, body counts and of course a cliffhanger to die for.

What a book im loving this duet so far im dying for more. I was on the edge of my seat nearly all the way through this book. So many twists and turns I didnt know what was goin to happen next. The story was so good with so much left to find out.

7ffd54af342d866c7817aa22d6873758

Emma and Rett are brilliant characters and I know there is still so much to find out about Rett. That guy is so deep and dark he can dominate any situation. Emma may think that Rett has control but as this book goes on you start to see a different side to him. Im not sure I'd its good or bad yet but we will see in the next book. Just hope Emma doesn't get hurt to much. There relationship wasn't goin to be easy it was already hard with Retts intensity and thinking that he knew what was best for Emma. Poor Emma hadn't a clue what was getting on half the time and had a trust a men that had barged into her life with the demand of marriage.  So ye Rett was just a bit intense.

I really enjoyed this book and after Fates Demand I was dying for it. I would highly recommend this book. This author really knows how to create a story and characters that you can get addicted to. The story was packed with the past that was goin to make things hard for both Rett and Emma and present wasnt goin to be much better. Let's just hope that the next book is like the rollercoaster that this one was.

Before you read this book stop! You need to take a step back and read Fate’s Demand. If you read The Deal in the One More Step anthology you already read the prequel to this book. Read it again. Remind yourself.

Aleatha Romig always weaves a great plot in her books. Devil’s Deal has the usual Aleatha flair. Plot, plot twists, heroes, villains, but you have to stay alert to figure out who is angel and who is demon.

I’m sure, I heard that a rule of writing is to write what you know. I don’t think for a minute that Aleatha has been kidnapped by a dominant, rich asshole, but the storyline is clearly one of her favourites. Tony Rawlings, ticks those boxes, still hate him, still think the Consequences series is cracking. Sterling Sparrow, also ticks the boxes, still think he’s got a god complex, but again, I can’t fault the writing and I warmed to his dourness.

In Devil’s Deal, Everett Ramses, is, you guessed it, a dominant, rich asshole. I didn’t like him, but then I didn’t like either Tony or Sterling either. I think he has a hidden agenda. I don’t trust him at all. But he does have a really nice house. Aleatha writes the best houses and the best food. The best evil men, who all turn out to have a weak spot. And just when you think the lady in the book might be a bit wet, she threatens to bite people’s dicks off. Once the daughter of a Jezebel, always the daughter of a Jezebel. I think I like you Emma, I want to see you fight.

Looking forward to see where Aleatha is going to take the story. I’m hoping someone is going to get fed to the gators.

3, maybe 3.5 stars

I quite liked it. Didn't love it.

In a scale of 1 to 10?

Generally speaking, I think I can say I quite enjoyed this book.
It has that element of mystery I was looking for, so that's deffo a plus.
And I really liked the style of writing, that was really good.
Plus, the chemistry between Emma and Everett?

I need to add that I loved Rett, he was a conniving, gaslighting manipulator and a cold-hearted murderer who took what he wanted. And I dug that.

What I didn't like was Emma's character. I expected so much more from her.
Unfortunately, what we got was yet another doormat, way too spineless for my liking.
And maybe I could go past that little fact if she at least showed some sort of interest in what was happening.

Because the fact is that Rett kidnapped her and kept her captive in his mansion. And she did try to escape once, true, but when Rett gets her back to his mansion, our Emma seems to be more interested in all the nice dresses and jewellery that Rett gives her than the fact that someone out there tries to kill her. She somehow isn't even curious about the whole mystery surrounding her mother, her dead brother who isn't really dead or why she simply ended up in this situation. All she cared about were her nice clothes and the fact that Rett didn't get her off for a while. And she seemed completely unaffected by the fact that Rett killed a few people in front of her.

Like it was the most natural thing in the world.

And I tried to be patient with her and understand her way of thinking but I failed miserably and scratched my head with bafflement every other chapter.

Another thing I didn't care for was the whole sexual submission Rett was fixated on. He told her to walk into his room on her fours and only then he would fuck her.
Plus, he told her she had to be ready for him to satisfy his needs every time and everywhere.
You know, like a cheap hoe.
I mean, come on.
Seriously?
That shit isn't hot or sexy. It's kinda humiliating. At least in my dictionary.
Emma, however, didn't seem to object.

All in all, it had a lot of potential but the heroine didn't deliver. She is too weak, too flat and simply one-dimensional.
Disappointing, in other words.
But it was decent enough and I will read book 2 because this one ends with a cliffhanger.
And I need my answers.
So off to book 2.
But I srsly hope it will be better than this one.

Set against a New Orleans backdrop, Aleatha Romig switches gears by transporting her readers from Chicago’s castle in the sky to the “devil’s” personal domain. In the first installment to this romantic suspense duet, the dark king of New Orleans, Rett Ramses, has brokered a deal, securing himself a reluctant queen. For aspiring writer and soon-to-be queen, Emma O’Brien, her destiny is all wrapped up in buried secrets that have recently been unearthed. Now, after literally arriving at the devil’s doorstep, Emma is expected to give the decidedly sexy Rett her hand in marriage, which he considers his rightful due.

Without a doubt, “The Devil’s Deal” is one dark and twisty ride! But truly, I never expected anything less!! Readers were first introduced to Rett and Emma in the prequel, “Fate’s Demand,” which was originally titled “The Deal,” a short story released as part of the “One More Step” anthology. Fans, like myself, could not get enough of this seemingly ill-fated couple, and to my great delight, neither could this author.

To die-hard fans… think Consequences meets Web of Sin, as there are elements from these two series that I found reminiscent of both Tony & Claire’s tumultuous journey, as well as Sterling & Araneae’s. Still, Rett & Emma have their own distinct obstacles to tackle, as is evident from the way Aleatha has left me and other readers precariously hanging. The good news is that she doesn’t plan to leave us dangling off that cliff for very long, as the conclusion, “Angel’s Promise,” is due to be released just 6 weeks after the release of “Devil’s Deal.

So close, and yet still so far…

Rett is completely swoonworthy and Emma is a strong heroine. A perfect match for each other for sure. Definitely can’t wait until the next book is out!! I need it in my lifeeeeee.

Everett "Rett" Ramses, was the man that owned New Orleans. Ruthless and feared, nothing stopped him from acquiring what he wanted. And Emma O’Brian was on that list. She was the daughter of his father’s rival and sworn enemy. She was also the woman that he needed in his world, in his bed and ultimately to become his wife. Patience was not his strong point, and time was of the essence for Rett. He needed Emma O'Brian, even if he had to play dirty to get what he wanted. With expert precision, he masterfully calculated how to get Emma to step into his world. Into his bed and ultimately seal the deal of becoming his wife.
Emma O’Brian had lived through the pain of losing her family and finding out a family secret. But she chose to turn her life around. Moving to a new home and starting a new business with a partner. They set up a meeting with the mysterious and evasive Rett to sign a deal for her new software.
Unbeknown to her, another deal was at play, and Emma’s life was about to change forever. Rett tantalized her, commanded her, and controlled her. He fed her titbits of information, dangling a carrot in front of her.
Emma felt the walls close in on her. Scared and unsure of whom to trust, she makes a run for it. Even though she knew that danger was lurking. Had she made the biggest mistake of her life? And will Rett find her? Finally, she comes to terms with all that lay at her feet. Trusting the devil comes with a price. Had she vowed her allegiance to the wrong devil? Especially when two unexpected guests arrive warning her of the man who now held her hand. When all the evidence starts to pile up, will his hand be the one to take her life? After all, he did warn her. ––Ms Romig has created a story full of mystery, hidden secrets and more than one devil. Her characters draw you in. Rett was a character I can’t quite work out but one that played the villain without remorse. The plot is thick with suspense and we never are sure in which direction the author is taking us. The chemistry was hot right off the bat, you feel it, the push and pull, but know that Rett was in the driver seat all the way. That man was rather talented and extremely controlling. The writing flowed, intriguing you with every page you turned, until the end when you are left on a cliff-hanger. And what a cliff-hanger. Once you start, you won’t be able to put this book down.

That. Cliffhanger. AARRRGGGHHH!!! I am going to need the next book now, please and thank you.

So. Many. Revelations. in the last chapter of the book leave you really wondering what could possibly be next for Rett and Emma and how they are going to unravel all of the things that have happened.

And, as is always the case, it's tough to review this one without spoilers as a lot of the "OMG" moments are also tied to things that you only know because you have read the book.

What I can say, is that this book is dark, it's fun, and it;s definitely what you want from a title by Aleatha Romig, and it defnitely leaves you feeling like maybe you shouldn't like Rett as much as you do.

But, that's part of the fun of titles by this author...and it's definitely why we read them.

I can't wait for the next one and I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Devil's Deal was highly anticipated after I read Fate's Demand learning about Rett and Emma. Their instant connection, tension, and sexual draw leaped off the page as you learn about two families that rule New Orleans. The twists and turns that Aleatha is known for are in full effect as she creates a new dark romance world to love.

I have been a long time fan of Aleatha Romig's stories. Her heroes are always compelling and edgy and the connection between them and their heroines are just FIRE. I read the prequel to the Devil's Series duet and was intrigued. Rett and Emma were definitely sexy! I love the mystery, secrets and all the twists and turns!

Wow! I thought Rett and Emma were delicious. This book (and the prequel before it) had a slight different feel to it in compared to past books by this author. While there was intrigue and mystery, Devil's Deal had a heroine that was less assertive and more obedient. Don't get me wrong, this novel was great, I was just hoping for the sass of Laurel (Tangled Web trilogy) and the fire of Araneae (Web of Sin).

Overall, this was a solid read and I cant wait for the second book in this series! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Yes, Emma and Rett's chemistry it's awesome. I love it.

I'll have to admit tho, I'm still confused about what happened! The end made me feel just as the beginning, and I can't wait to find out what the truth is and what fate will depart for them.

WOW!!! I loved this book! Rett and Emma are perfect for each other! I also loved that we get both their POVs although I will admit I wish we would've had more of Rett's POV.

Emma is a strong female lead, which I love! She is completely blindsided several times throughout the book and for the most part, she keeps her whit about her. She bites back at Rett when she should and reels it back in at other times. She really is the perfect match it seems for Rett.

“Honey, you have the power of a siren, the beauty of an angel, and fate has landed you in a place where you can do what couldn’t be done before.”

Rett is a billionaire bad-boy. He's 100% alpha male, possessive, and controlling and isn't afraid to fight and get his hands dirty. He lets Emma know right off the bat what he wants and why. You can almost tell that his feelings start to change a little for her, but of course, he will never admit it.

“I never offered love, Emma. This agreement is what fate demands of us both. It’s a deal for my city and for your life. Love is a weakness, an Achilles’ heel, so to speak. It’s better that we both understand the limitations of our agreement from the start. My offer is for my name and my protection. Hearts are only useful to circulate oxygen through our bloodstream. Marry me and yours will keep beating. I have no other use for it.”

And after that ending?!?!?!? I have so many questions that I need answers to!! I can't wait to read the next one!

After getting a glimpse of Rett and Emma in Fate’s Demand. In this newest book Aleatha takes us on a road unseen with these two. That only she can conquer with her wicked twist and turns. Cannot wait to see what happens in Angel’s Promise.

From the start of Devil’s Deal, I felt like I was lost and missing something, in fact I was saying that out loud to myself. Come to find out there is a prequal to this duet and I had no clue. I just knew I was missing something.

Trying to put aside that I was lost most of the book, the story just felt off to me. There wasn’t a whole lot going on until about 75% in. I like Everette enough, domineering, possessive, and all, but again felt like I was missing something about his character.

There was a cliffhanger which of course I am dying to know what is going to happen and who is lying. I will definitely go back and read the prequal before reading the second book. I really love this author and find her to be the top three queens of dark romance.

For a sneak peek, check The Deal in the One More Step anthology. [That's now the prequel.]
I'm actually excited for this one.
