Join us for Personalize Your Plate – Build a Nutrient-Balanced Buddha Bowl (Webinar) on Wednesday, March 31 at 11 AM.

Are you tired of eating the SAME meals each week? With a busy schedule, a budget, or both, it may seem tough to incorporate new flavors onto your plate while still eating a healthy meal. In honor of Nutrition Month at the Center for Health & Wellbeing, Debbie Zimmerman, Food for Life Nutrition and Cooking Instructor, will share a how-to on preparing your own personalized Buddha Bowl – a highly diversified, plant-based nutritional meal – for you and your family. Zimmerman will mix and match 10 different ingredients from five food categories — Grains, Starchy and Non-Starchy Vegetables, Legumes, Fruit and Salad dressing — while also discussing techniques for prepping and packaging weekly meals that fit seamlessly into your on-the-go lifestyle. Then, a simple dessert with assorted toppings will be demonstrated to round out an easy, nutrient-packed menu for you and your whole family!

By participating in this program, you can expect to learn how to:

  • identify each category of plant-based food plate that builds a balanced meal;
  • prep and package a variety of “meals-for-a-week” to facilitate your on-the-go lifestyle;
  • and plan a simple, healthy and tasty dessert that your family will enjoy.

Special Instructions: Recipes will be provided in advance so participants can prepare items to be included in the Balanced Buddha Bowl. When adhering to the recipes, please cook your grains in advance. If using roast vegetables, have those roasted before the class. During class, participants will be assembling and packaging different meals using the template (recipe) provided via email upon registering.

This program is presented by Debbie Zimmerman and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation.
