Don’t Mind If “I Do” is the next book by Everly Ashton that can be read as a standalone. If you want to know the history between a couple of the other characters then I recommend reading Hit or Miss first (but not required).
This book is Nick and Mazzy’s story. Nick is Ollie’s best friend who we originally saw in Hit or Miss. Nick is a doctor and is known around the hospital that he works at as a bit of a player.
When a persistent nurse, who can’t take no for an answer, basically attacks Nick in the break room, Nick starts to realise his reputation may be getting a bit out of hand. When the hospital board of directors find out they basically tell him to shape up or he’s gone.
Mazzy is a socialite who grew up in Boston’s high society. She grew up with Nick and when they were teenagers arranged a marriage pact. They both agreed that if they both weren’t married by 35 they would marry each other. When events happen in Mazzy’s life that leave her no choice but to get married, she calls in on this pact, much to Nick’s surprise.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading how both characters overcome their past and find themselves throughout the course of the book.
This is a cute and sometimes funny romance that I would definitely recommend reading.

Don't Mind If "I Do" Kindle Edition
It’s not every day the woman who broke your heart asks to be your wife.
Life is good. I’m single. I’m an emergency room doctor. And according to my hookups, I’m hot AF.
Then she walks back into my life.
I haven’t seen Mazzy Pembrooke since the night she betrayed me. So when she comes into my work asking me to make good on a childhood pact and marry her, I’m speechless.
She’s the last woman I’d want to marry—even if it’s pretend and with a definitive end date.
But after I find myself in a sticky situation at work, marrying Mazzy might just benefit me too.
Once we’re living as husband and wife under the same roof though, I struggle to remember that I hate this woman and the fake marriage doesn’t feel so fake anymore.
Don’t Mind if “I Do” is a fake marriage, friends to enemies to lovers rom-com loaded with laughs. No cheating. HEA.

Mazzie Pembroke needs a husband for six months to claim her inheritance. Recently divorced, she turns to the man she made a marriage pact with as a kid, her childhood best friend Nick St Clair. The problem is, they had a falling out and Nick now hates Mazzie. Fortunately for Mazzie, Nick happens to need her as much as she needs him.
I really liked Mazzie. She wasn’t your typical socialite. She genuinely cared about the people working for her father’s company and felt remorse for what happened with Nick. Nick was frustratingly stubborn at times but I could somewhat understand why he held on to his grudge for so long. Due to the enemies to lovers trope, this was a slow burn romance but the steamy scenes were worth the wait.
I really enjoyed the way this story unfolded through flashbacks rather than chronologically. It added an element of it rigid into the plot. This is my first Everly Ashton book and I really enjoyed her writing. This is a standalone but it features characters from one of her other books do now I need to check out Oliver and Jemma’s story.

A wonderful, amazing and extremely well written story about forgiveness and second chances. Nick and Mazzy’s journey was filled with ups and downs, but watching them work together to find their HEA made my heart swoon. So many heartfelt and funny moments; a must read.

A long shot that paid off

What an interesting way to get married. Although Nick and Mazzy had not seen each other for a long time, they still had a lot of chemistry between them. After their hurried marriage they were able to work though their issues and realised that they still loved each other.

Absolutely marvelous story

This was absolutely marvelous. It has all my favorite tropes. Past friends who become enemies with a second chance at love thru a fake marriage.
This is Nick's story. We met him in Hit or Miss (Love in apartment 3b book 1). This time around, his ex best friend from childhood, Mazzy, has returned and needs a favor (a fake marriage). He immediately declines the favor after talking to her. When his medical career is in jeopardy, he decides that the favor could be beneficial to both. They get married. Some people are happy, but many are shocked, and their high society families are upset.
Will they work thru their issues and stay married after the 6 month time frame that Mazzy needs to get her inheritance, or will it end?
It's a wonderfully written story with well thought out characters.

I loved Nick the minute I met him in Hit or Miss (if you haven't read that go grab it now) and knew his story would be amazing and it was everything I had hoped it would be and more!
Nick and Mazzy where childhood friends and then something happened and they quickly went from friends forever to enemies, 10 years later Mazzy is divorced, her Dad needs her help, her grandfather died and in order to get her inheritance and help her Dad she needs to be married, marriage is the last thing on her mind but then she thinks back to a Pact that she made with her one time friend Nick!
Nick himself is going through a bit of crises his playboy image is causing issues at work, he needs to clean up his image and quick!
I absolutely love a second chance romance and this is one of my absolute favourites! I loved seeing them reconnect, they are so perfect together. This was such a fun, witty story and I couldn't put it down.
