The Gallaghers #2

When You're Mine

Rate this book
Take New York by storm and steer clear of serious relationships. That's the plan. That's the goal. It's easy too; now that my software company is taking off. Nothing is getting in the way of that--not even my personal trainer. I don't care how sexy and intriguing she is.

Mel Dawson keeps talking me into doing things, like watching the sunset and slowing down to enjoy life.

When she trains me, and I watch her body, I'm constantly fantasizing about exploring every inch of it all night long, claiming her mouth every time she gives me a sassy reply.

I don't even know who I am when I'm with her. I’m suddenly a completely different man. But, I like this version of myself better. Mel's smart, determined, and keeps me guessing.

She's everything I need and want, but I've been burned before. I'm used to taking chances in the boardroom, just not in my personal life. How much am I willing to risk for a chance to make her mine?

After the first book in the new Gallaghers series, I was excited to get Dylan and Mel’s story and see just how Dylan would get his HEA. This series continues to be a delight- Layla has a great way of creating a story centered around an engaging family ensemble, and she also has a keen ability to write relatable, realistic characteristics.

Dylan and Mel find sparks fly when Dylan signs up to be trained at the gym by personal trainer Mel. These two both can’t deny their attraction- the challenge is, of course, that they both want decidedly different things. Fresh off a long-term relationship (that was long-term doomed) Dylan just wants to keep relationships casual, while Mel has resolved herself to only pursue relationships of the more serious and committed type. Can they get on the same page?

I seriously loved Mel- she’s a character that I found so authentic. She’s sassy, resilient, and very honest- and I loved how in touch she was with her own needs and priorities. She’s a heroine you can get behind, one that you admire and root for. And it was great to watch her work through her dynamics with Dylan. Even though they have very different relationship aspirations, they both have similar baggage- and I loved watching Mel learn to trust again while Dylan realized opening his heart to new possibilities happens naturally when you’re with the right person. We have a great chemistry between them, and like so many Layla books, I love the grounded maturity she brings to her characters- the open communication and self-awareness. Though, we do have a bit of ex-drama and spots of miscommunication in this one. None the less- still that Layla characteristic sweet and steamy chemistry, the balance of sweet swoony moments, sexy times, and fun banter.

Layla can always be counted on for a feel-good story, and the Gallagher series continues to deliver just that.

When You’re Mine is book two of the Gallagher family series by Layla Hagen. Layla writes such intense love stories and her heroes are always worthy of the title.

In this edition, Dylan gets his shot at love, but he’s been burned before and is guarded. He’s successful in business and such a wonderful man, and when he meets Melanie Dawson by chance in his new gym during a workout, he needs to rethink everything! He’s immediately smitten and intrigued and is such a knight in shinning armor. He recognizes and admires her independence and giving nature, but can’t help but go to her rescue on more than one occasion.

I love the interconnected characters namely his siblings, parents, in-laws, and friends, and in When You’re Mine, we are introduced to Mel’s dad. They are what a family should be–loyal, there for you with unconditional support as well as to talk some sense into you when you need it, and have a great sense of humor!

This series is low in angst, although there is some tension with her ex, and big on feels. He makes her feel cherished, safe, and weak in the knees. Loved their steamy times and his alpha tendencies, and how they bought out the best in each other, took risks, and trusted one another. Loved how she turned this man who swore off loving again, to one who was all in, forever. His proposal was so sweet and one I will always remember. Can’t wait for Ian’s story whom I assume is next!

Mel and Dylan story. Family means everything to them. Mel is an only child and she is so glad she is conecting with Dylan, we read something about hia past in previous books but now we have it here and Mel is working in his new gym. She is there to get his sister in shape but stars said that she is there for him. But at first he does not want commitments and labels, he suffered to much. Mel had also a tocsic relationship and she wants to be careful. How long they can resist each other?

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

When You’re Mine by Layla Hagen is the second book of the Gallagher’s series. This is a tangent from the Very Irrestible Bachelors series. This series does not have to be read in order as all background relationships are explained.

Dylan is introduced in the previous book and I know I was very much looking forward to his HEA. Dylan and Mel meet in the gym where she works. There’s insta-chemistry and this book could have been great.

This overall plot is good and has potential but the writing feels choppy and doesn’t flow. The cute and funny times feel forced. I like how he courts her. Some of the dialogue feels repetitive. The details of the police investigation are so far off of reality it’s hard to accept. They’re in New York City and it’s surrounding areas. The police department doesn’t dole out justice.

Overall this book was just ok. It didn’t hold my attention the way other books by Layla Hagen have.

In the second story for The Gallaghers, Dylan's story, we get Dylan and Mel. Dylan has been introduced in previous books and I've been wondering about his story. We have already learned in previous stories that he was in a long term relationship that broke up when he proposed. In the last story we learned that his brother, Ian, knew that she had been sleeping with someone else and now Dylan is only interested in short term flings and fun. Mel is definitely not wired that way. She is not long out of a long term relationship that was seemingly dysfunctional and not good for her but she hasn't given up on finding her 'person'.

Dylan and Mel meet at the exclusive gym where she works as a personal trainer and Dylan has just joined. She is his sister's personal trainer and knows many of the people in Dylan's world. He is instantly drawn to her beauty and figure but quickly realizes that she is more than just her outside beauty. Dylan meets her in a private moment of vulnerability and instantly becomes protective of her. Their blossoming relationship is sweet, romantic and very low angst with a good level of heat. Though the relationship moves quickly it didn't feel too forced or ridiculous to me. Again, this is a relationship between two mature adults with a very low level of immaturity or angst.

While I liked Dylan, I just couldn't seem to connect to Mel. I'm not really sure why, but I just couldn't connect with her and therefore I wasn't really sold on the two of them together. There did seem to be real feelings between the two of them and she definitely seemed to bring out the best in Dylan, but I just couldn't get behind them as a couple. I don't know why. My favorite parts of the story were when his family or her father were involved. The family dynamics continue to remain strong and very connected.

I love catching up with the Gallaghers and the Winchesters. Ms. Hagen is a masterful storyteller that does an amazing job with families. While this was not one of my favorites, it was still well written with good character development and a good story. I look forward to watching Ian fall for his forever love in the next installment.

Guess what we are in a relationship. Due to less than pleasant histories of dating, both Dylan and Melanie are not looking for relationships. Neither is willing to risk their heart right now.

In the second book in the Gallagher siblings series, we get to know the oldest, Dylan. He and his brother have recently moved their software company to NYC. His two sisters are already living with their families here. Melanie is the personal trainer to his sister Isabelle. Even though they are in different places right now, they can not ignore the attraction. Will Dylan have a date for the wedding?

I enjoy the strong sense of families in this author's books and how she manages to keep us up to date with past characters without overwhelming or confusing the reader. We have one more book in this series; I can not wait to read it!

I received an advanced copy from the Author; this is my voluntary review.

Music of the heart that will have emotions dancing to it's tune. Out of sync becomes the stuff of fairytale fantasy once you step inside of a Layla Hagen romance. When You're Mine is a little rough around the edges, but that's just part of it's charm. Dylan and Mel detour from the straight and narrow and take the heart on a bumpy ride. Broken hearts, shady exes and a meddling extended family make for a great deal of unpredictability, yet it's the uncertainty that kept me invested in the endgame.

Review: These Gallaghers and their lives, it’s enviable. I enjoyed meeting Dylan, Ian, Isabelle and Josie in the first of the series in this spin-off, but it’s even better getting to spend some quality time with Dylan. First of all, Layla Hagen has created such a wonderful family in the Gallaghers and I love how much they love each other. I’m a sucker for romances where the families play a big role, because it shows you another side of the characters. And between the Gallahger siblings and their parents and all their extended family members, you are sucked into a world where you’re constantly surrounded by wonderful people.

Dylan’s been dealing with heartbreak since his girlfriend of a million years decides she’s had enough. His siblings have been trying to get Dylan to go out and meet people, but he’s definitely not interested. Sure, he’s all about the playboy lifestyle and getting his beak wet, but he’s not looking for romance or for forever. And his siblings are worried, rightfully so. Melanie is also recovering from heartbreak and while looking after her father and keeping her head above water, she’s decided that one night stands and flirty handsome men are not what she’s looking for - she wants forever. She wants someone who will love and cherish her. Someone who will always be there for her. And it’s clear that Dylan is not the guy. Not at first anyway.

But lust and desire can only hold two people off for so long. Dylan signs up at the gym where Mel is a personal trainer and he insists that she help him get into shape. And every time they’re alone together, there’s sparks flying. I’m not a big fan of insta-love or insta-lust, but I definitely appreciated the fact that even though Mel was drawn to Dylan, she held herself back for as long as possible. Their scenes together were filled with banter and humour and it was fun, I liked that they weren’t pretending to not want each other, but also not jumping head first into anything yet.

“How can you make me feel like this?”
“Like what, exactly?”
“Like I’m all you want. All that matters.”
“Because you are.”

Dylan is a pretty damn perfect hero. He’s kind and giving, generous and flirty. He doesn’t expect anything from Mel that she’s not willing to give him and he’s also not going to hold back when he wants to help her. While Mel is used to being showered with gifts, her past relationship has made her wary of accepting all gifts thrown her way. But Dylan helps her understand that sometimes a gift is just a gift and nothing else. I liked Mel too! It was hard to get to know her, because she keeps a lot of things close to her chest. But I loved her determination, her passion and the undying love she has for her father.

There is something so captivating about Layla Hagen’s stories. They are steamy, heartfelt, emotional and always leaving me with a full heart and a smile on my face.

Dylan Gallagher is a programmer and has just moved to New York to be closer to his sister (Isabelle from Say You’re Mine). He moved from a small town and is adjusting to city life. He isn’t interested in anything serious. Until Mel.

Melanie Dawson is a personal trainer at the same gym both Dylan and Isabelle attend. The moment they run into each other the first time there is fantastic chemistry. Mel struggles with trust after being badly burned by her ex but as they get to know each other Mel quickly realizes Dylan is nothing like her ex and is learning to trust him. I adored Mel’s relationship with her dad.

I adored Dylan’s protective side. He has a massive heart and is just the perfect man for Mel. He is just what she needed to open up her again. I really adored this couple. The progression of their relationship once the barriers were broken through was easy and natural.

I am loving the Gallagher family and cannot wait for Ian’s story next!

5 star review of When You’re Mine (The Gallaghers #2) Layla Hagen

Having read the first book in this latest series from Layla Hagen I was excited to see what she had in store for Dylan and Mel.

I really enjoy Ms.Hagen’s writing style. It is strong, with characters that are easy to relate to and I found myself riveted in the story that she wove from the first to the last chapter.

Mel is a personal trainer and when Dylan joins the gym she ends up as his trainer and he has a hard time concentrating when they are together. Dylan has been burnt in the past and the last thing he is looking for or wants is to take another chance on love. In the boardroom he is known for taking risks but in his personal life, not so much. Dylan wants her but is he prepared to take a leap of faith and trust in Mel?

Dylan and Mel are looking for different relationships, he wants casual and she is looking for commitment. Can they come together and compromise and in doing so find a lasting love? Their journey will be rocky but if they make it through then it will all be worth it.

***ARC Provided by the Author***

I can't lie, I love books where one (or both) of the characters are reluctant to be in a relationship (for valid or silly reasons) and find themselves in one anyway.

This was one of those books. I am not going to get into the why of the reasons Dylan feels as he does, as they are slight spoilers of the previous book. Mel, however, isn't looking for a casual relationship...she wants the commitment, the long term, the relationship that is leading toward marriage.

The problem for both of them is that despite what each believes they want, they want one another more.

It's a fun push and pull and it's a lot of fun watching them work it out, especially as they start to realize what the relationship has become when they weren't looking.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

When You’re Mine is a fun, romantic and sexy love story. The story flowed perfectly and the pace was spot on. A totally entertaining story without having a lot of angst or drama. This series continues to be a delight.

I loved everything about this story. Dylan and Mel fall flawlessly in love with sparkling chemistry, cheery conversations, mutual support, and romantic dates. Their story was filled with so many sweet moments and sexy interactions, and their instant chemistry was perfect.

This story was a perfect combination of sweet and sexy. It was one of those reads that you can’t help but smile. While this book had that sweet and charming storyline, Layla Hagen was still able to incorporate heat and a little drama to give this book an added flare. So if you are looking for a romance that is brimming with love, laughter, steam, and charm then look no further than a Layla Hagen book.

This series is so sweet as all the books written by Layla Hagen. I love this author and her books.
Dylan and Mel start slow because they both have trust issues and are sort of reviving their love life.
They are instantly attracted to each other, but it is so sweet how they finally get to have their romance.
The writing is wonderful, and the characters are so interesting and sweet.

I just loved this book!

Another great read from this author. This author is great at writing series with siblings, and I always end up feeling like I never want the series to end because I love the families so much.
This is the second book in the Gallaghers series, and I loved every minute of it. I can't wait for the next one in the series.

Dylan & Melanie’s Story Continues The Series With A Sweet Romance That Has Dylan coming To Mel’s rescue. It is a somewhat quick read.

ABOUT THE SERIES:

This is the second book in The Gallaghers series of related standalones. It is a spinoff of the Very Irresistible Bachelors series, which centers around the Winchester family, and picks right up in the same world where the last book of that series left off. The Winchester family remains in the background, just the like Gallaghers had increasingly become part of the Winchester family in their series. Nevertheless, it is absolutely not necessary to have read the Very Irresistible Bachelor series first to enjoy the Gallaghers. Though books are best enjoyed in sequence, any book in either of the series can be read on its own. Fans, however, will appreciate learning more about this close-knit family by reading the series in order.

Note that two of the Very Irresistible Bachelors books are crossovers between the Winchester and Gallagher families. Book one, You’re the One, is Josie Gallagher’s story with the Caldwell’s close cousin. Book four, One Beautiful Promise, is Laney Smith’s story with a Winchester brother. Laney had been to the Gallagher family what Josie had been to the Winchester family. Each was taken in and welcomed like family. Laney and Isabelle Gallagher have been best friends since their youth. Laney grew up spending a lot of time in her best friend’s home, and the Gallagher boys are like brothers to her.

A QUICK OVERVIEW OF THE WINCHESTER AND GALLAGHER BOOKS:

Very Irresistible Bachelors Series:
1. You’re the One: Hunter Caldwell (32) & Josie Gallagher (30) *As it opens it is the 4th of July*
2. Just One Kiss: Ryker Winchester (30) &. Heather Prescott (28)*As it opens it is early March*
3. One Perfect Touch: Robert Dumont (33) & Skye Winchester (32)*As it opens it is just past the 4th of July weekend*
4. One Beautiful Promise: Cole Winchester (~30) & Laney Smith (~28)*As it opens it is March; newlywed Skye is 7 months pregnant*
5. My One and Only: Liam Harrington (36) & Tess Winchester (35)*As it opens it is mid-September, sometime after Skye delivered baby Jonas. Heather is pregnant and showing*

The Gallaghers Series:
1. Say You’re Mine: Brayden Clarke (30) & Isabelle Gallagher (~29)*As I opens it is just after July 4th; Tess and Liam are still engaged. Ryker and Heather have welcomed newborn son Ray. More recently, Hunter and Jose brought home newborn Sophie – roughly around the second week of June*
2. When You’re Mine: Dylan Gallagher & Mel Dawson *As it opens it is it is early June; Brayden and Isabelle have a November wedding planned*
3. Because You’re Mine: Ian Gallagher & Ellie Cavanaugh

ABOUT THE GALLAGHERS:

The Gallaghers hail from small town Montana. They come from a modest background, but are a tight family. Josie is the eldest. She is followed by Dylan, then Isabelle. Ian is the youngest.

Josie Gallagher is an attorney. After winning a scholarship, she left home in high school to attend a private boarding school that catered to the wealthy in New York. She soon befriended Hunter Caldwell, who had defended her when bullies made fun of her poor clothing. Hunter is a cousin of the Winchesters and was practically raised in their family. Through him, Josie was welcomed into the Winchester family and grew close to Skye and Tess Winchester. She and Hunter became best friends over time, and eventually much more. Hunter and Josie’s story is book one of the Very Irresistible Bachelors series, You’re The One.

Dylan and Ian Gallagher own a software company together, Gallagher Solutions. After spending some time setting up an office in Washington, D.C., moved to New York on year ago to start a new subsidiary there. This finally brings all the children together again in one city.

Dylan Gallagher moved to NYC roughly one year ago. This is his story.

Ian had worshipped his older brother when he was small, but he never did become a romantic. He has always enjoyed a bachelor lifestyle and has no plans to change. He is less serious and more playful.

Isabelle Gallagher moved to NYC roughly one year ago, following her sister and best friend. She has a master’s in counseling as well as one in behavioral science, and she set up her own private practice in Brooklyn. Her story with rock star Brayden Clark takes place in book one of this series, Say You’re Mine.

Laney Smith gets special mention as Isabelle’s best friend from childhood. She moved to NYC for her residency after medical school, then met and married Cole Winchester. Cole and Laney’s story is book four of the Very Irresistible Bachelors series, One Beautiful Promise.

IN THIS BOOK:

This book opens in early June.

Dylan Gallagher, thirty-one, had been the romantic brother. He had had a long-term relationship and was hoping to settle down, but Lina suddenly decided they weren’t right for one another. Later learning that she had kept secrets from him only made things worse. He has since been nursing his broken and jaded heart by fully taking advantage of his single status. He in now an avowed bachelor, taking some lessons from his younger brother Ian and enjoying the his time as a playboy.

Dylan is all about efficiency in his life; he has some OCD tendencies. Ian is more of a risk taker. Together, they make a successful team. Ian has always looked up to his older brother, and joined him in starting Gallagher Solutions, a successful software company. After spending some time in D.C., they moved to New York a year ago to set up a new subsidiary – and that brought them to the same city where their sisters live, reuniting all four siblings. They are a tight family, even with their parents still back at home. Their parents had a run a ski lift in Montana, and a few warm years had been financially challenging. Dylan and Ian are hoping to win the Innovator of the Year competition to get them the partners to immediately implement Project Z, an idea that has great business potential as well as personal meaning. They hope to develop an insurance model for niche markets that are not covered by existing models. Had that kind of insurance existed for their parents, a lot of hardship could have been avoided.

Melanie Dawson, twenty-seven, is rebuilding her life. She had moved to New York to attend NYU and has stayed since. Her father raised her alone since her mother walked out on them when she was just a baby, and he followed her to the city to be nearby. She had done everything she could to help him recover from the major stroke he suffered, but he still remains in a wheelchair. It has always been just the two of them. The time and money she sacrificed for her father had brought out her ex-boyfriend’s true colors. She had been with Elliot for three years, but learned she had not been a good judge of character. With their breakup over a year ago now, Mel has tried dating but to no avail.

Fortunately she went into personal training, a job that gives her good pay as well as flexibility. With any luck, she can build up that nest egg once again. She has been at her current job for two years now. She loves working at Genesis, New York’s most prestigious gym that caters to clients that enjoy their privacy. That includes Brayden Clark and his new fiancée Isabelle, Mel’s clients.

When Dylan hears about Genesis from Isabelle, he decides to sign up for membership himself. It happens to be near his apartment and his office, making it terribly efficient. One glance at the beautiful brunette has him paying close attention, and when he notices that she seems distressed, his protective instincts take over. Mel cannot help but fall a little for her knight in shining armor. Yet when Isabelle warns her off, saying that her brother isn’t into relationships since the breakup with his long-term girlfriend, Mel knows it wouldn’t be wise to pursue anything since they both have different goals. She wants to find love and settle down, while Dylan is not on the market for that. Dylan and Mel are drawn to one another despite knowing their differences, and soon he starts to wonder if he just might be relationship material after all. The couple earns a happy ending.

Ian’s story comes next, wrapping up the short series. He is the baby of the family. Towards the end of this book there are hints about his upcoming story.

Dylan and Mel’s story finds two people looking for different things after brutal breakups, yet somehow discovering a connection that they can’t deny. Dylan was completely unprepared for Lina’s response to his proposal, not to mention the secrets that came out later. He had lost seven years to that relationship, so trusting his heart to another woman is not on his list of priorities. Mel is generous with her time and freely offers to help those she loves. It makes her a good friend and daughter, but it also makes her vulnerable. She should have seen the red flags with Elliot, but she learned a few lessons from the fiasco. She vows to be more careful in the future. She and Dylan have some things in common that help to bridge their divide. They are both loyal to their family. For Mel, that just means her father, but Dylan has large group in his tight knit family. Each values family, and each is willing to drop everything to answer during times of need. They recognize that kindred spirit in one another. Dylan also finds inspiration in Mel. Set in his ways and his routine that allows for little more than his strenuous work schedule, Mel gets Dylan to brave new things.

Dylan and Melanie’s story continues the series with a sweet romance that has Dylan coming to Mel’s rescue. It is a somewhat quick read. The story is nicely written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters take a little while to warm up to; they feel a little flat at times towards the beginning. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Dylan and Mel. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

When You're Mine by Layla Hagen was such a steamy delightful read. Layla Hagen always does a fabulous job of creating loving, charismatic characters that you can't help but fall in love with! I was immediately drawn into the story from Chapter 1.

Dylan Gallagher decided to join an exclusive gym because of his sister's engagement to a famous rockstar. Melanie Dawson just so happens to be a trainer at this exclusive gym. These two have an instant connection on their first encounter, but there are a few challenges in their way. Dylan is looking for something light and fun. Mel is ready to settle down and find the love of her life. When these two get together, they have a remarkable chemistry that neither one can deny.

I really enjoyed this book. Layla Hagen's style of writing flows effortlessly, and keeps you fully engaged in the story. Not to mention, the steamy scenes are so, so good. I also just adore that all of Layla's stories always revolve around family, and the Gallaghers are indeed one swoon-worthy family!

I received an ARC When You’re Mine by Layla Hagen as a member of her VIP Reading Team for an honest review. All I can honestly say is WOW and that I absolutely loved When You’re Mine, the second book in Layla Hagen’s The Gallaghers series! I have loved each book in the series. I loved every page of When You’re Mine and could not put it down. Layla Hagen definitely did not disappoint with When You’re Mine and has once again delivered an incredible story filled with everything that I love in sizzling romance stories. Who doesn't love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families and friends, who always support one another, and wonderful characters? Layla Hagen continues to deliver all that and so much more. Layla Hagen has once again shown that she in an amazing storyteller. I really enjoy how she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love knowing what the main characters are thinking and feeling. I love the lighter moments where I found myself smiling and laughing. My favorite moments are the bittersweet ones that cause me to sigh, say aww to myself with tears filling my eyes. When You’re Mine is filled with such moments, and with so much more. When You’re Mine is filled with all those things that I have come to love and expect in a Layla Hagen love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. When You’re Mine is the love story of Melanie “Mel” Dawson, personal trainer at the gym, Genesis for Isabelle Gallagher and Dylan Gallagher, software programmer and co-owner of Gallagher Solutions, a software company, with his brother Ian. I love the light moments when Mel and Dylan meet for the first time at the gym. In Mel’s training session with Isabelle, Isabelle warns Mel that Dylan is not the type of man that she is looking for. Mel is looking for someone to settle down with, and Isabelle knows that is not what Dylan wants. Isabelle also warns Dylan to stay away from Melanie. Dylan is immediately smitten with Mel, and decides to use her as his personal trainer. Things heat up quickly as Mel and Dylan spend more time together, both at the gym and getting to know each other. Both Mel and Dylan are jaded when it comes to falling in love. Mel’s last long-term relationship ended badly and Dylan proposed to his long-term girlfriend and she told him she could not see a life with him. He later learned that she cheated on him. They both decide to casually date each other, until it no longer works for them. I love how Dylan wants to help Mel cross things off of her bucket list. I love Mel and Dylan’s love story, and how the one plot twist brings them closer together and another one changes things for Dylan and Mel’s relationship, and makes them realize with Isabelle’s help that neither one of them are their past lovers. I love the changes in Dylan and how his family noticed the changes, because of his relationship and love for Mel. I love how the Gallaghers and Winchesters all make Mel and her Dad feel like family. Layla Hagen creates such wonderful and memorable characters and has once again done this in When You’re Mine. I love Mel and Dylan’s story and the descriptions of the NY settings. When You’re Mine felt like a family reunion and catching up with all the other characters from the other books in the Very Irresistible Bachelor and the Gallagher series. I love the characters and the family dynamic in When You’re Mine, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoy all the interactions among the Gallagher siblings, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. When You’re Mine is filled with all the elements that I have come to love and expect in Layla Hagen stories. I love the bittersweet and poignant moments, as well as the surprise plot twists. When You’re Mine was a wonderful love story. So glad that Dylan let go of his past disappointments and fears and found his one, and happily ever after. My favorite part is Dylan’s proposal to Mel, and where and when he proposed. I cannot wait Ian’s story and how he will find his happily ever after love story, I love the hints that Layla Hagen put in When You’re Mine as to the identity of Ian’s mate, or I, at least. hope they were hints. I highly recommend this sizzling romance.

When You’re Mine is the second of what I assume will be a three book series, The Gallaghers built around three Gallagher siblings, Isabelle who was featured in the first book, Say You’re Mine and now Dylan in this book. Ian the youngest Gallagher sibling’s book Because You’re Mine is due out this August. There is actually a fourth Gallagher sibling Josie the oldest, who was featured in the first Winchester family book this series is spun off of. All of the Gallagher siblings make appearances in this story as do a few of the Winchesters. This book can easily be read as a standalone but if you’re like me you’ll at least want to read Isabelle and her rock star fiancée Brayden’s story in Say You’re Mine as Isabelle along with Ian are featured prominently as secondary characters in this story.
I can’t honestly say I was a fan of Dylan Gallagher when this story opens. Dylan like many contemporary romance male lead characters had his heart broken when his former girlfriend of seven years refused his marriage proposal and he later learned she’d been stepping out on him. Why it took him seven years to propose to her might have something to do with why she told him she didn’t think he was her one. He has given up on love. Now he only does one-night stands and flings when he needs to scratch an itch. Melanie or Mel also had her heart broken when she discovered what a jerk Elliott her former boyfriend of three years really was. Shame on her I guess for taking 3 years to catch on. But her response was a more mature, to continue to date with the intention that she was only interested in dating men who were looking for a real relationship. Not a fling. Mel is Isabelle’s personal trainer. Isabelle knowing Mel is looking for something real and that Dylan is only looking for a good time warns him to stay away from her. Even Mel despite admitting to Dylan that she’s attracted to him, tells him they aren’t on the same page when it comes to romance so they should just be friends. But Dylan continues to pursue Mel hard and charm her until she finally gives in to her attraction to the handsome and charming Dylan and agrees to a fling or friends with benefits relationship for as long as it lasts hoping she can keep her heart out of it. Of course she can’t and despite his avowed determination not to get serious again Dylan can’t either. At least thank god, Dylan before the end of the story confesses his love to Mel easing her fears and she in turn confesses her love to him. It’s not all smooth sailing from there but the issues are all pretty low angst. And I like low angst love stories.
This book has plenty of warm. happy family feels as the Gallaghers and Winchester’s embrace Mel and her disabled father and of course support Dylan, thrilled that he’s finally coming around and willing to give love another try. There’s also plenty of explicit sex scenes in this story because Dylan and Mel can’t get enough of each other. It’s looking like Ian’s book is definitely going to be a older brother’s BFF to lover trope. I’m wondering how Layla gets Mel’s BFF Charlotte a book? She was too prominent in this story as a single unattached secondary character for the author not to be planning to give her a happily ever after of her own.

I fell in love with Layla's words after reading Withering Hope and I have been a fan ever since. I always have this warm, calm and homey feeling whenever I read her books. That is why I get excited whenever she has a new release because I know I will have another amazing reading experience. Thank you Layla for the arc. Falling in love with Dylan and Mel was everything I've ever hoped it would be and more.

Ever since I met Dylan, I was already excited to read his own book. I know his heart was already badly broken and had him steering clear of serious relationships. But his great love for his siblings got me curious how he would treat his woman if he fell in love again. Because I know meeting the right person will change one's perspective in a relationship and allow yourself to fall in love again. Just like what happened to Dylan and Mel. Both had bad relationships in the past. But fate was good to both of them coz from the moment they met, there was already a strong connection that just needed nurturing.

I fell in love instantly with Dylan. He was such a sweetheart and a true gentleman to Mel when they first met that I was already swooning early on in the book. I didn't want to put it down coz I was feeling giddy as to when they will finally admit that they are falling for each other. Dylan is every woman's dream man to fall in love with. Every parent's wish for their daughter to have in her life. To protect, to care for and to love wholeheartedly. Dylan was all that to Mel. On the other hand, Mel was the perfect fit for Dylan. She was selfless, strong, straightforward and so caring. I love how she was so dedicated to her dad and toher friends. Despite having been heartbroken, she still had a great love to share with Dylan.

I love the storyline. I love how Dylan and Mel met. Accidental you might think, but I know fate had a hand on it. Though I know they were bound to meet because of Isabelle. But the way they met was exciting. It made the foundation of their relationship stronger. It brought out the caring and loving side of both Dylan and Mel. I was smiling and feeling excited with the small gestures of love and affection they did for each other.

When You're Mine is another must read book from Layla. She has always made me feel good and feel loved with all the love and care being passed on by all her characters. We only have Ian's book left in this amazing series and I can't wait to see what's in store for us. I know it will again be a blast like all of her books. Thank you Layla for this amazing book that has kept me warm and cozy during the night and excited and giddy during the day. Two thumbs up!

Dylan's story is finally here and I really enjoyed. In fact it was better than I thought it would be considering I have read so many romance stories from Layla Hagen, but she never disappoints. We know the story of Dylan in the romance department. He was engaged to a young lady back in Montana, Lina, she breaks it off with him and he eventually finds out that she was having an affair with one of his friends. So, Dylan lost a fiancee and a friend and his philosophy on love. Then there is Melanie Dawson. She is a young lady, who happens to be a trainer for Dylan's sister Isabelle. She trains at this exclusive club because her fiance is a member of a famous band and he has to have a place to go train where he or she will not be bothered by paparazzi. Mel aka Melanie was raised by her father, because her mother left when she was young, in fact she was too young to even remember her. She and her father were really close they lived in Harrisburg, PA and her father only moved her Junior year in college to be near his daughter in New York. Her father had a stroke so she was taking care of him until after his rehab and even renovated his one bedroom house so that it would be wheel chair accessible because his left leg he still had trouble with but he could move enough to stay on his own. He went from a construction job to a job on line and doing most of his interactions on line which he was pretty happy about. He even joined a book club on line. Mel has relationship issues to. She had an ex, Elliott who used her and her money until she had no more to give him and so they no longer were a couple. He blamed her for all of his problems with his business. So we have two people with trust issued trying to navigate life as a couple. Dylan said he didn't want to get in a serious relationship and Mel didn't want anyone who wasn't on the same page with her romantically. Read and find out how two opposite people who are definitely physically attracted to one another learn how to trust again. I really loved this story and I would highly recommend this another Layla Hagen romance book. If you have not read anything from her you will really love these stories and if you have read some you will love that she incorporated the rest of the family in each story. All of the Gallaghers and the Winchesters are included in this story. Even Josie his oldest sister shows up in this story. Get this book it is definitely a Good Read and well worth you purchasing her books, Layla Hagen that is.

When You’re Mine
Gallagher’s book
Layla Hagen
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Each book, each story, and each new character in any of Layla’s creations bring something special, not just words in a page, but a journey, and one I love being on. Every time I read a new story I think “this cannot get better”, but she always raises the bar, pretty soon I think we’ll hit heaven! I can no longer pick favourite characters, or personalities because they really are one of a kind.

When Isabelle decided on joining a gym in preparation for her wedding, she found personal trainer Mel, at a exclusive gym, with her privacy a top priority, she finds peace, and friendship with her PT. But Melanie Dawson is used to high profile clients, it comes with the job, what she didn’t expect was Isabelle’s brother Dylan Gallagher and all of his sexiness to break into her world. After being abused by her ex and his relentless contact even now, she’s not looking for permanent, but in the meantime Dylan ticks many boxes… she’s happy to keep opening for him.

Dylan runs a successful software company with his brother Ian, very practical Dylan works hard, finds time in his schedule for keeping fit, and by joining the gym where his sister attends. On his first visit he is taken by a stunning woman who literally passed out at his feet. In his super hero cape he saves her from anyone finding out, but from the embarrassment of anyone else finding out. He never imagined that woman would soon become a major part of his life, strange seeing he hasn’t had a relationship since he was burned by his ex.

With her little secret in hand he uses that to win her over, from becoming his trainer, to fun dates and soon friends with benefits. It’s all no strings attached, he’s not a relationship man and isn’t looking for one. But when Mel’s past enters his current and future, the feelings and the protections are strange and he stands firm with her. It’s a new very sexy side to Dylan and one she falls a bit further fit, and it seems it’s very mutual.

As an only child with just her dad, Mel has never had that protective family unit around her, and she finds the Gallagher’s not only stick together as a close unit, but stick up for those too. It’s not long no before Mel is that new family member , and she loves it, them, and Dylan ♥️♥️

Layla does it again with this sweet strangers to lovers story that sees confirmed bachelor Dylan re-thinking his views of a relationship. Mel has had her heartbroken and has also made some resolutions regarding relationships, but will she break them?

Dylan had his heartbroken the day he asked his girlfriend to marry him, to only have her turn him down and found out she was seeing other guys when they were together. He joins a private fitness club with Isabella, his sister, and meets a woman that her can't get off his mind, Mel. Mel is a personal fitness instructor at the club. Isabella warned him to stay away because Mel wants a relationship and everything that goes with it. Why the warning? Well, Dylan has sworn off relationships but Mel does something to him. Is he ready to give up bachelorhood or can he convince Mel to have a causal relationship? Dylan plays the knight in shining armour a few times and saves Mel from a few situations.

Mel has had a hard time of it when it comes to relationships. Her last one caused heartbreak and emptied her bank account. She thought it was love but maybe he was using her for money, which she does not have a lot of. She meets Dylan at the fitness club when he comes to her rescue. Well, she falls for him but Isabella tells him that he is not the relationship kind of guy because of his last relationship. All she can think of is him and when he hires her to be his personal fitness instructor things get really hot. Will she let him in? Can she get Dylan to change his mind about being a bachelor?

This story has all the makings of an amazing love story. Mel is not a damsel in distress but she has Dylan saving her a few times. Layla has a way with words that has you feeling all warm and happy while reading about Mel and Dylan. Yes, it is emotional but in a good way. I thoroughly loved reading this book and I cannot wait for the next one in the series.

Let’s talk about “When You’re Mine by Layla Hagen”, second book in The Gallaghers series.
💖
Have I ever told you that I’m crazy about Layla’s books? The couples in her stories are so swoony, their love transcend the pages of the books and although usually one of them are initially reluctant over leaving the singlehood behind, once they find each other it’s like a light struck! Not to mention that Dylan showed up in several books before which only increased my desire to know about him and how he would find his happiness after all.

Mel was a sweetheart, I loved her and her willing to live and be happy, appreciating the small things at life, like the sunset while listen to steamy romance audiobook and drinking some wine! See? She is so relatable! And when she meet Dylan she finally has someone at her corner, apart from her amazing dad! Actually she gained a whole family and households, to help, be friends with and love her no matter what.

She deserved to be loved by Dylan after her awful ex and Dylan, damn, that guy… he deserves the world. They started as “friends with benefits”, like a temporary thing, but as know: “famous last words”. They were perfect together, they would do anything to make each other happy and loved. Also, can I have her list of New York places to explore? Please!

Now I’m curious about the next book in the series, which seems to be the last which is a bummer. I’ll miss the Gallaghers and even more the Winchesters! My favorite part in all Layla’s books are when both families are together, in any capacity! I’m already thinking about what will come after this series? Mayyybe the rock band series? It would be amazing!

This is finally Dylan’s book! In all the previous books, I have waited for Dylan and Ian’s books. First up is Dylan. Dylan is a confirmed bachelor so he says after a very bad break up with his ex. Mel is a personal trainer at the gym that Dylan has joined. The sparks flew the minute they met and Dylan had to have more. His sister Isabelle tried to warn him off because Dylan and Mel were polar opposites. Dylan says he was not settling down and was a confirmed bachelor who just wanted to play the field and he was supposedly okay with that. Mel was also coming out of a bad break up but she wanted more, much more. Mel wanted it all so when Isabelle tried to warn her trainer and friend off her brother because she didn’t want to see her get hurt, that didn’t work either. At first they agreed to just be “casual” and when it was over it was over and they would both be okay with that. Yeah okay where have you heard that happening in a romance book?! They each gave it a valiant effort and Isabella admitted it way before Dylan that her heart had crossed the line but Dylan was still trying to convince himself that there wasn’t more between them. Once they were both on the same page sort of, they were afraid to tell each other because they had agreed. Once they finally agreed to see what happens and throw the rules out, the story moved. When they hit a rough patch, the fight was such a turning point in their relationship but then it was just over and all forgiven. I was also excited that you get to read about the other characters and see what their life is up to but I was disappointed that Isabelle and Brayden’s wedding was so prominent in this book then nothing. You are also given a sneak peak in Ian’s book so I am looking forward to that and of course the other bombshell that was dropped at the end of the book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a book that I knew I would love, one that would just be yet again a beautiful love story. I loved that you got to see the previous and future stories continue and start to play out. I just love the whole family vibe that this series is all about. But most of all I love the ease with which this book flows and how the story is told. Sometimes you just need a simple uncomplicated read.

Mel and Dylan were hot from the very first encounter and although they both got warnings to stay away. The pull they both felt was just too much to resist. And even with messy pasts and an ex that just wouldn't go away. They were still drawn and fated to be together. Sometimes you just become what you were too frightened to be. And before you know it there is no turning back.

This love story is best to read first hand so I will stay nothing more. Apart from this book is a great read and one I totally recommend. For me, this series needs to be read in order. You'll get more out of it if you start from book 1.

Romantic. Funny. Swoon worthy and filled with heart. Those are just a few things that come to mind to describe Dylan and Mel’s romance. When You’re Mine is book two in The Gallaghers series. This story follows Dylan Gallaher, self proclaimed workaholic and semi-recently heartbroken bachelor. After a failed attempt at an engagement, Dylan decides to say, screw love, and focus on building his business. That is until Mel. He can’t figure out why he is so drawn and attracted to her like no one before her but he is determined to get to know her.

Mel Dawson is a personal trainer at an upscale gym. When she’s not catering to an exclusive client list, she is caring for her father who requires more attention after suffering a stroke. Like Dylan, a love gone wrong has left a sour taste in her mouth and she too has decided to focus on her job and her father. Unfortunately for her, Dylan is persistent in his pursuit of her and she’s a bit weak for his charms. Their focuses quickly change from maintaining the life they knew to managing the life they want to build with each other.

These two were so great together. Once again not only does the chemistry between the two main characters shine through, but the love and commitment to family continues to be front and center as well. I always look forward to a new release from Layla because I know it’s going to become an instant favorite. This book was no different. Can’t wait for what she has in store for us and The Gallaghers next.

Oh how I loved this book! Layla Hagan has done a fantastic job of creating a love story that's charming, endearing, heartwarming, and just enough sexiness to keep things interesting. LOL. I absolutely have fallen in love with the Gallaghers. We met them all in book 1, but this book takes their love as a family to a whole new level. They literally drop what they're doing for family and friends. The playful banter between siblings was so much fun to read, but the family loyalty is amazing. I think I want to be adopted by them.
When You're Mine is Dylan Gallagher's story. He has sworn off relationships after getting burned by an ex. Of course, he may be eating his words when he meets his sister's personal trainer Melanie (Mel) Dawson. She's sexy, flirty, gorgeous, and so very kind and generous. As with Dylan, family is very important to her. Even though she is any only child, she is fiercely devoted to her Dad who is wheel chair bound. She also is involved with volunteering at a private pet shelter. Gotta love a character that takes care of animals.
Even though both Dylan and Mel have seemingly sworn off relationships, their attraction is smoking hot and cannot be denied. It is also so heartwarming and full of selflessness that I smiled throughout the whole book. Human kindness does exist! There are funny moments, tender moments, and a few scary moments, but through it all Dylan and Mel discover what's important in life: True LOVE. As Dylan says to Mel "I want all the strings, Melanie. I want everything with you." Sigh, that's one of my favorite quotes from the book.
I'm still smiling thinking about this book. Loved it!

This is book 2 in a 3 book series about the Gallagher siblings who are related to the author's Very Irresistible Bachelors series which paired their sister, Josie with Hunter Caldwell in You're The One and introduced the Winchester siblings who are also friends with the Gallaghers. Each book easily stands alone.

In this story we meet Dylan Gallagher who is the oldest Gallagher and he has just moved to NYC to be closer to his two sisters who live there now. He is a techie and is creating a new app with his brother, Ian. He starts at a new gym close to his home and business and thats how he meets gym trainer, Melanie.

Both have horrible exes in their backgrounds and they have to decide if they are willing to risk it all on what their hearts want and to ignore what their heads are saying?

This was a light story that did not have much in the way of drama beyond the ex drama. Both characters are really good people who love their friends and family. But each have negative pasts that get in the way and they have to decide if the romantic risk is worth it or not.

I really enjoyed this story and while I have read all the authors series before, I think this book can easily stand alone. Its pretty much a boy meets girl and they have to decide if love is worth the risk story.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the second story in the Gallagher Family Series. I love who the author give us the strong family dynamic with realistic issues and problems we can relate to. Wonderful character to help pull you into the story.

Dylan is a wonderful success along side his brother Ian running their software business. Expanding their business to New York and being closer to their sisters was a strong focus. His family means everything to him and it helps to show us his softer, caring and loving side. He keeps himself busy and has decided that relationships are not for him. But he can't deny the attraction that he feels when he meets Mel at the gym.

Mel works hard to make sure she can have the things she wants as well as helping her dad with his medications and things he needs. Trying hard to keep up with the perceptions she often finds herself working to hard and spreading herself a little thin. She love the flexibility her job as a fitness instructor gives her. She is ready to find that relationship and move from being on her own to having someone to share her life with.

Though they seem to be looking for different things, the attraction is beginning to win the race. Will Dylan and Mel stay strongly behind the friend line, or will they topple over and see where things lead? Could these two reluctant hearts find a way to trust once again? Could this be the beginning of a happily ever after?
