What race is the burqa? What race is Islam? What race are Muslims? In reality, there are Muslims of all races, and Islamic jihadis of all races, but no one can think straight anymore. Muslims continue to be perfectly free to practice Islam in Sri Lanka. There is abundant evidence of criminal activity committed by people with faces covered, and of jihad indoctrination and recruitment in madrassas. Nevertheless, the left will continue to insist that Sri Lanka and all other non-Muslim countries must simply commit suicide rather than appear “racist” or “Islamophobic.” Britain and others are happily complying.
An update on this story. “Concerns for Sri Lanka’s Muslim community over ‘racist’ plans to ban veil,” by Qadijah Irshad, Telegraph, March 14, 2021 (thanks to Darcy):
The Sri Lankan government has been accused of harbouring a “racist” agenda against Muslims over plans to ban the veil on grounds of national security.
Sarath Weerasekera, the Sri Lankan security minister, announced on Saturday that he had signed an order for cabinet approval that would outlaw the garment.
Controversially, Mr Weerasekera equated the veil with Islamic extremism. “The niqab has a direct impact on national security…it is a sign of religious extremism that came about recently. We will definitely ban it,” he said.
The Sri Lankan government temporarily banned the veil in 2019 after Islamic State supporters killed 250 people in a suicide bombing.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Ali Sabry, the Sri Lankan justice minister, said the ban was “not a breach of fundamental rights.”
“I don’t see why people are calling it the burqa ban because it’s basically covering the face in a manner which prevents the identification of a person. That’s the concept behind it,” said Mr Sabry. “It’s not only the niqab, but even the full faced helmet is also banned. And that is for security reasons.”…
Shreen Suhoor, a Sri Lankan women’s rights activist said that the burqa ban was “part of the government’s racist politics.”
“They have to show that they are punishing the Muslims. it’s part of the Rajapaksa’s election politics and they continuously have been doing it – the president got elected on anti-Muslim rhetoric, the parliament got elected on anti-Muslim rhetoric and again the provincial council elections is being talked about – and here we go again,” said Ms Suhoor.
“The ban has nothing to do with countering Islamic extremism, it has to do with settling with the Sinhala-Buddhist extremism. This is to show the Muslim community is being punished again,” said Ms Suhoor….

Sri Lanka: Women’s rights activist denounces burqa ban as ‘racist’
………………..
What tripe–the Burqa is not a race–but Muslim supremacists always try to play the race card, even wehn it makes no sense at all.
Shreen Suhoor regularly whines about Muslims supposedly being mistreated–even when they are treated like everyone else, such as Covid-19 victims being cremated.

The phrase:” Shreen Suhoor, a Sri Lankan women’s rights activist ”
She works for a Non-Governmental Organization ( NGO) called Women’s Action Network (WAN) .
1.It is now known that generally, generally, the FEMINIST organizations in the THIRD WORLD are funded by First World LEFTISTS.
2.The main organization is that of SOROS, the Jewish Leftist, and it is called THE OPEN SOCIETY Foundation.
3.Shreen Suhoor is a MUSLIM (about 10% of the population) and Leftists and Muslims are in alliance.

I understand the Sri Lanka is much more westernized than India. But to parrot the Islamic taunt of “racism” as in West is not going to make her any white or colorful citizen of bright Left.
Shame on her being an Asian

One thing about Sri Lanka: the ruling party – the SLFP – is a Leftist party, unlike the BJP led alliance in India. So when they take such unapologetic moves against muslims and pander to Buddhists as well, their opponents on the right can’t take a pro-musim stance and hope to ever return to power

The woman in the photo is wearing what might be called a niqab, but definitely not a burqa.
UK government, reporters and regular folks consistently label niqab a burka.
That given, the notion that banning the burqa is an act of racism is complete nonsense,

In many Arabic countries this black garbage bag is known as a Chador, but i think we should just call it a BGB… Black Garbage Bag.
Burqa is the blue garbage bag worn in Afghanistan and as far as I know thats the ONLY country that calls it as such and has it in Blue… “Would you like to try on a purple one Madam, we just got the latest in from Paris, a rainbow Burka, or perhaps Madam would care for our more subtle, white garment with the green and red strips.. ?.”

A garbage bag by any other connotation, name, trademark or parlance is still a garbage bag. Sri Lanka has shown that it has a pair of …err… to ban the garbage bag. Excellent ! After all, the garbage bag originated when Mo and his followers were ogling at the defecating (each other’s ) females, that is a historic fact.
The garbage bag has given rise to a lot of fun and cartoons on the internet, all hilarious….

Chador is what it’s called in Iran. In Arab countries, it’s a burqha, niqab or jilbab, depending on the style
As for the color, it’ll be like Henry Ford’s Model T: available in all colors, as long as they are opaque black!

The main issue is not the color, but the degree of veiling.
The Chador coverers the hair and body, the Niqab covers the face except for the eyes, and the Burqa covers the entire face and leaves just a mesh for the victim to try to see through. You find Burqas in black, blue, and–rarely–white.

They are going to close some 1000 of those Islam madrassa’s too, and plan to implement 2 year-long deradicalization programs for extremists:

Deadly Islamist extremism horrors, the Sri Lankan people suffer heavily from, like the 2019 church bombings that cost 290 death and 450 wounded, is of course not an urgent problem too tackle for this human rights warrior or Al Jazeera, that even does not mention it??
