A great book that would’ve been rated higher if it wasn’t for the……

Horrible female narrator.
Jason Clarke is one of my favorite narrators, but he seems to mostly get paired with horrible female narrators. Give him CH Bloom or Molly Glenmore, and the story will soar! But when you pair him with robotic female narrators, like Stephanie Wyler, you diminish his talent. And frankly, ruin parts of the book. At first her voice didn’t bother me, but halfway through, I felt myself rolling my eyes and skipping entire chapters because her voice was graining on my nerves. PICK BETTER FEMALE NARRATORS! There is no way Wyles was the best you could get.
I would give each category 5 stars if it wasn’t for the horrible female narrator. Love the story, LOVE Jason Clarke.
But until these robotic female narrators get the boot, these stories won’t rate higher and get the recognition and appreciation it deserves.

Female narrator change

Female narrator changed on the 4th book and she was just not good and made the story hard to listen to.

Narration

I listened to all four books and loved the story. However, I don’t know why the female narrator was changed for the last book but it was a truly terrible listen from her only. It was nerve grating just trying to finish this final book. I’m sure it was mostly due to the change in voices rather than a personal attack on this lady.

Different female narrator

Not a huge fan when a narrator changes in a series when said series is the same two main characters. I do understand authors can’t always get their narrator, but I wouldn’t have minded the wait for audio to get Savannah Peachwood back as Candace (the h in the book). Jason Clarke was great as always. Stephanie Wylie got better as the book went along but was very stiff sounding at the beginning.
I did enjoy the book and that Savage and Candace finally got their HEA. Savage is one of my favorite Walker Security guys

Great story

Great story line. The male narrator, Jason Clarke was spot on and rating of 5 plus but the female voice was very bad. Unpolished, no emotion

What A Ride

I love Jason Clarke as Savage! The Automated portions of the book reading were awful. The voice was very distracting and I found it hard to really enjoy what I was listening to. This book had a pretty good story line but the ending kind of left me wanting more. I think we need another savage book.

Really Bad female narrator

Would have liked the book better if the female narrator was better but she was cringe worthy. Story was also a little too short for my liking.

Good storyline but the narration. . .

I would have enjoyed this book more but found the female narrator robotic which created a disconnect for the overall story. Jason Clarke saved the book, his narration was amazing, as always.

Buildup to Savage’s & Candace’s wedding/honeymoon

Given the past of both the groom and the father of the bride of course there would be some drama leading up to the wedding of Savage and Candace. The story follows the general narrative of the Walker Brothers Security series and their operatives and adds specifically to Savage’s earlier trilogy so not a standalone but rather a welcome long epilogue to the Savage stories. Of course we got to catch up on some of the earlier operatives and their spouses though not really enough for fans of the earlier books. New “recruits” or operatives were introduced. The story was pretty simplistic - a favor involving guilt, greed, blackmail and revenge plus some descriptions of wedding plans. Jason Clarke was great in his reprise of the role of Savage but Stephanie Wyles is a terrible narrator as Candace. She made the entire audio book difficult to listen to due to her large role. Her reading is flat and robotic sounding with little emotion as well as grating on the ears. When she does work up to some interpretation of the role it is whiney. Her harsh male voice was passable and better than her female voice. Not sure why they didn’t continue with Savannah Peachwood, who was Candace in the 3 previous books in the Savage sub-series. If I had to do it over I would buy the book or ebook and spare my ears. Sorry Jason Clarke but even your excellent performance could not compensate for her terrible one. I am not sure how such poor performances end up getting produced unless the performer “ knows someone” because this one was so awful if it had been live, people would have walked out and demanded their money back! I do recommend the story in book form but don’t waste a credit on the audio.
