Prince William pays tribute to Prince Philip and his ‘mischievous’ humor

Prince William on Monday paid tribute to his “extraordinary” late grandpa Prince Philip — lovingly noting his “mischievous sense of humor.”

“My grandfather’s century of life was defined by service – to his country and Commonwealth, to his wife and Queen, and to our family,” William, 38, wrote in the tribute on the royal family’s website.

“I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life – both through good times and the hardest days,” he wrote of Philip, who died Friday at age 99.

“I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her,” he said of Kate Middleton.

“I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humor!

“My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation,” he wrote of Philip, who was the longest-serving royal consort in British history.

“Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead,” he said of his grandmother, who has said her husband’s death has left a “huge void” in her life.

“I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job,” William said.

The statement comes after his brother, Prince Harry, reportedly arrived in the UK ready for Saturday’s funeral amid a family dynamic “fraught with tension” after his damning TV tell-all.

The feuding brothers are, however, said to be “united in grief” over their grandfather, with royal insiders hoping it could help the once-tight pair finally heal their differences.
