Usman Khan is now on record as having fooled prison chaplain Paul Foster and counterterror top dog Steve Machin. It was easy. Both were so eager to believe in the myth of deradicalization.
Machin says: “I couldn’t live my life expecting every encounter with the community or ex-offenders is going to lead to devastation, I couldn’t live with that level of paranoia.”
Sure, Machin. It would be terrible to have to live with that level of paranoia. Now how is it to live with the knowledge that two people are dead because you didn’t want to seem paranoid?
“London Bridge terrorist ‘duped anti-terror boss who asked about big coat he was wearing to hide fake suicide vest,'” by Ryan Hooper, Emily Pennink, and Tom Faria Matthews, MyLondon, April 29, 2021 (thanks to Henry):
The London Bridge terrorist who fatally stabbed two graduates duped a counter-terrorism boss about his bulky coat that had a fake suicide belt inside just before his deadly attack, a jury was told.
Cambridge graduates Jack Merritt, 25, and Saskia Jones, were fatally stabbed by terrorist Usman Khan at a prisoner education event held in at Fishmonger’s Hall next to the Thames.
Steve Machin, governor of counter-terrorism at HMP Whitemoor, questioned Khan as to why he was wearing the extra large coat, which he wouldn’t take off, at the event on November 29, 2019.
Mr Machin told jurors that Khan had said he was dressing for the weather, which Mr Machin found “plausible”.
Jurors heard from Mr Machin that he was not “in the same headspace” while outside the prison.
Mr Machin said: “I couldn’t live my life expecting every encounter with the community or ex-offenders is going to lead to devastation, I couldn’t live with that level of paranoia.”
On Wednesday, Mr Machin said Khan, from Stafford, tried to give him a hug when the pair met, telling him: “I have learnt that violence isn’t the path.”
But inquest jurors at City of London’s Guildhall heard Khan had spent the previous week buying items needed for his murderous plans, including a black coat that he wore to the event, under which he concealed a fake suicide vest.
On Thursday (April 29), Nick Armstrong, representing the family of Ms Jones who was a guest at the event, asked: “Why don’t you pick up the fact he’s wearing the coat?”
Mr Machin replied: “He provided a backstory and it sort of made sense. I could see below the coat was a base layer.
“He said when he checked the weather he was expecting a cold day. He said: ‘I don’t want this being my outer top’.”
Mr Armstrong accused Mr Machin of dropping his guard despite being faced with warning signs about Khan’s presentation.
Mr Machin said: “I’m not in the same headspace as when I’m at work – I wasn’t there as a counter-terrorism governor, I was there as operational manager of HMP Whitemoor.
“My head space would have been completely different.”
Mr Machin rejected Mr Armstrong’s suggestion that Khan being an example of a “good news story” for rehabilitation had effectively “blunted his antennae” of concern.
Mr Machin said: “I didn’t see it as a ‘good news story’.
“I saw him being involved (with Learning Together) as good, it hadn’t got to the point of a good news story.”
Mr Armstrong replied: “The problem with a good news story is they’re not always true.”…

It is not just Usman, there are millions out there who would lie for the impotent and inept devil god to accomplish his goal of enslaving all of mankind. This is just antithetical of the Bible.

Correct.
Sadiq Khan has already won the London mayoral election.

A pity Mr Machin doesn’t seem to have been a reader of Jihad Watch, or aware of the videos of David Wood, say. If so, then he would have been aware of the permissibility of deceiving the “infidel” within Islam.
“Al taqiyya for a ride, kafir!”
Michael Copeland says
Prison authorities and groups such as “Learning Together” (under the eye of a Law Professor) have failed to inform themselves and their staff of Islam’s doctrines of “Permissible Lying” (Manual of Islamic Law, “Reliance of the Traveller, (r8)) and the “permanent war institution” of jihad: “Muslims must kill kafirs wherever they are unless they convert” (Ali Gomaa, Grand Mufti of Egypt).
Is this not culpable negiigence?

Sounds like “culpable negligence” to me, Michael…

The only way to deradicalize a Muslim is to convince him that the Koran is a manmade document crafted cunningly by the caliphs. Once the proof of that is clearly set out to Muslims, they lose faith in the Koran.
People cannot run into danger and risk their lives when they know for a fact that their cause is corrupt and false. They will try to avoid jihad.
Most Muslims are FILLED with doubts about Islam and therefore they DO NOT PARTICIPATE in kinetic jihad.
Infidel says
Mortimer, it looks like you could fill Steve Machin’s job. Now go!
mortimer says
Put these jihadists in a room with youtube’s CHRISTIAN PRINCE (an expert on problems in the Islamic texts) and they will not be Muslim in a few hours.
gravenimage says
Mortimer, if you put Christian Prince in a room full of Jihadists with no protection they would murder the poor man.
You constantly imply that Muslims–incuding murderous Jihadists–are all rational sorts who just need to hear a good reasonable argument to leave Islam. Sadly, I have never seen this borne out.
mortimer says
Infidel, I would love to be asked to work with a team to develop a program to talk jihadists out of Islam. Such a program is greatly needed. However, the ministry bosses may not know much about jihadism and many probably believe the Marxist myth that ‘poverty causes jihad’.
I don’t know Steve Machin and don’t know his Islamic knowledge. If he understands TAQIYYA perfectly, he will know that Muslims lie continually to kafirs.
Steve Machin was at the event not to deprogram someone, but to represent the prison. He was not expecting that Usman Khan’s coat was hiding something, but he approached Khan to find out more. He actually asked Khan about the coat, and Khan made some excuse. Machin probed to see if Khan would reveal something and Khan used taqiyya.
Muslims use taqiyya all the time to kafirs, because they consider that when lying is a part of jihad, it isn’t a sin. As well, the prisons are filled with the best liars you would ever meet.
Steve Machin used some caution in this case, but couldn’t have known what was going to happen.
You develop a sixth sense in dangerous jobs like Machin’s. I once worked in corrections and have sympathy for those there now. It’s a constant and worrisome game of cat-and-mouse played with some of the shrewdest characters in the world. A fellow who worked in my institution was murdered by one of the inmates while he was going home.
Infidel says
This is one more of those jobs that ought to be given to AIs and done by robots. Not worth any danger to humans

No Mr. Mortimer – I wouldn’t, even heavily drunk, venture that kind of mindless (not to say stupid) business!

He didn’t look very hard to “dupe” (like most British idiots)

“Mr Machin said: “I’m not in the same headspace as when I’m at work…….My head space would have been completely different.”
———————————————————————————————————————
Khan’s “headspace” (!) wasn’t any different though, was it ? He presented exactly the same danger wherever he was, but Machin evidently regards such simple truths as annoyances..
Nobody who expresses themselves with such witless blathering should be in any position of responsibility at all. Machin is conversing in “double-speak”; effectively saying that the facts were of less importance than his own desire to “bend with the wind” and interpret the same information differently according to what he found convenient to believe.
