He’s concerned with one thing only: ruling his mafia empire. She’s sworn off men—especially bad ones—for life. Despite their instant hostility, these two are on a hot collision course, and the collateral damage could be catastrophic.

LUCKY

I know all about being down on my luck but, right now, I’m at the top of the mafia food chain, and I don’t intend to let anything, or any woman, get in my way.

Then this broad appears in my casino. Prudence Knight is a straight-up hustler, a card shark who wins hand over fist, and I refuse to be impressed.

With her smartass attitude combined with the angelic looks, she’s begging to be controlled by a mafia man like me.

I don’t plan on taking it easy on Prue. Sure, she’s been through an ordeal, but now she owes me. I’m gonna find a reason to keep her for as long as she serves my purposes. Because, after years of being under my dad’s despicable rule, the only risks I take are the ones I know will benefit me in the end.

PRUDENCE

I’ve been known to be hardheaded and I’m definitely all about my independence. I bust my butt to earn a living and I have no desire to be any man’s pawn. Not even Lucky O’Sullivan’s.

Oh yeah. I’ve heard of him. Who hasn’t? The rumors, the gossip, the mafia myths. He’s said to be an unrepentant killer, and that might be the least of my worries. I hate him at first sight, and the feeling seems to be mutual until he makes me an offer I really should refuse.

Now I owe him, which makes this arrogant mob boss think he owns me. I’m getting in too deep, but at what cost?

Lucky is book 1 in the O’Sullivan Brothers Irish mafia series. No cliffhangers. No cheating. Includes sizzling hot scenes. Can be read as a standalone.

Is there nothing better than when a man meets his match and falls in love? Especially when the woman doesn’t make things easy for the man. That the man actually has to earn the woman’s heart. The best, right?

And that’s exactly what happens between Lucky and Prue. It’s so easy to fall in love with these two characters. Lucky O’Sullivan is the oldest sibling and leader of the Irish Mafia. He’s the man in charge—a man who’s used to having his orders followed. No questions asked. And the last thing in the world he needs in his life is a distraction—and he definitely doesn’t need a woman. Never mind falling in love.

Prudence Knight is just trying make it through life, paying her debts and taking care of her younger sister. She’s hardheaded, smart, and has no room in her life for love. But tell that to her body and her heart, because she’s quickly falling for Lucky. Falling for his protectiveness, his family, and his sexy AF swagger.

I absolutely loved this first book in the O'Sullivan Brothers series. Loved getting to know Lucky, Dex, and Kelly. And Prue’s sister, Derry (who I want to be when I grow up! She’s amazing!). And I loved getting caught up with the Krasnov brothers too. I can’t wait for the next book in this series! ~ Missy, 5 stars

Rie Warren is one of my go-to authors and Lucky is one of those reasons. Lucky is a brand new book by her and the start of a brand new series. I could not put this book down.

Lucky is the eldest brother of the O'Sullivans and I love him. He takes no prisoners and loves with all his heart. Prudence is on his radar and she really should have run when she had the chance. But now that these two are together the sparks will fly and the bad guys should have known better than to mess with him.

Prudence is not one to take anything laying down. When she goes to Lucky's casino to win some money to get out of debt she doesn't mean to bring her troubles to his doorstep. But now that she has, Lucky is determined to help her and make her his woman.

I highly enjoyed this story and it was great to see past characters from Rie's others books. I can't wait to see where she takes us next.

Wow. All I can really say is just WOW! I love all Rie Warren’s books but this one really hit a spot with me. It was so raw and the anger, tension and need between both Lucky and Prue was just off the charts. The fact that Lucy was drawn to her from first sight was great, however the sass that Prue has is exactly what that man needed. Loved that first encounter when he tried to kick her out and she straight up kneed him in the balls!
And while the beginning of their relationship is volatile and full of tension, Lucky still shows up for her when she really needed him the most. Him just showing up knowing that she needed him, I’m so glad that he did show up because we all know what would have happened if he didn’t and that made me realize what could have happened to Derry.
Then they shared their pain, I didn’t expect Lucky to be the one to open up first, but I think it was beautiful that he recognized she needed to talk to someone about what she has went through. I think when they shared their past with each other that it was hard for me to keep my eyes dry. The pain and emotion just flew off the pages at me. My heart broke for both of them and then she confessed her debt to him.
When the Irish compound was attacked and Lucky had to make his choice between Prue and Derry and he chose Derry for Prue, I think I almost bawled right then and there. The ending tore me TF up. Not in a bad way, it broke my heart, but I held hope that everything would be ok in the end. That Prue has suffered enough at the hands of others and that Lucky deserves to save her.
The path that it took for their relationship was perfect for them. They had to go through so much to get what they wanted. Lucky extracting revenge for her was right there for me and I think I fell more in love with him. He really infuriated me at the beginning too lol. Loved the way things ended for Prue and Lucky, so glad that they got their happily ever after. Prue really deserved it and I know that Lucky was the right man for her. Can’t wait to see who is next and if one of the younger brothers end up with Derry.

He is in charge, the head of the Irish Mafia, and in no way has time for any entanglements with a woman that last more than a night. She has more responsibility than any woman her age should and is desperate to get herself out of trouble.

Lucky and Prue dislike one another on sight. She is gambling, and winning, more than she should at his underground casino. He wants her to stop coming around but at the same time is intrigued. She finds him arrogant and has enough on her plate without a good looking man like Lucky getting in her way. When trouble comes into both their lives Lucky steps up and protects her, as well as a sister he didn’t know about, because deep down that is the kind of man he is, and wants to be, for her.

This book is a spin off of the Krasnov Brothers books, so if you have read them then you know a bit about Lucky. This is the first book in the O’Sullivan Brothers series and it starts off perfectly! Full of suspense, action, and danger with a good dose of witty sarcasm and plenty of passion! I cannot wait for more!

OMG WHAT HAPPENED? I ... ummmm ... HOLY HECK this story is cray cray. It is exceptionally angsty which I expected especially with the whole mafia thing. EEK. WHAT HAS BLOWN MY MIND? This book is SEXY.

Pure and Lucky have lick your lips chemistry. This story weaves back and forth between intense dark moments and some deliciously naughty moments. Plan for all kinds of heart palpitations as you keep reading. This book is not for the faint of heart.

Happy Reading Everyone.

Lucky: Dark Irish Mafia Romance
(O’Sullivan Brothers, #1)
Written by Rie Warren

I had Lucky O’Sullivan’s voice in my head while reading the entire book. To me this is an excellent sign that I’m going to enjoy this read.

The O’Sullivan brothers are salty, sassy with flirty smirks on their faces and always have good whiskey nearby The head of the Organization is the oldest brother Lucky, a Capital “A” alpha who runs a pretty tight ship. That is until the blonde showed up on Saturday nights winning consistently. He didn’t mind the winning so much as he minded how much space the woman was taking up in his head!

Prudence Knight didn’t plan on making her living playing poker; she did it because she needed the money. Prudence had a day job; it just wasn’t a healthy place for Prue to be, so the gambling is serving a purpose. Make some fast money, pay off the debt, leave the job and try to move forward. Prue’s luck at cards wasn’t going to play into what is about to happen.

From the Yakuza gang attacking the underground casino owned by the O’Sullivan’s to a gunshot wound, it shouldn’t surprise readers that Lucky and Prue were attracted to each other. When Lucky offers her a job it is evident that he is interested in her and she returns that interest. Readers have lots to keep up with when Lucky and Prue are together, where there’s smoke there’s fire a lot of hot steamy fire! On top of that we now add Prue’s 17-year-old sister Derry into the mix things are getting very interesting.

Some of the best humor in this story involves some tough Bratva men and their women who bring sass, laugher, diaper bags and babies into Prudence and Derry’s life. Add in three Irish bachelors who always look forward to Sunday lunch and baby cuddling, we have a book that allows a contrasting parts of Mafia life for readers to enjoy.

This story constantly has something happening with the good guys (O’Sullivan’s) and the bad guys! There’s a lot of history revealed by Lucky and Prudence and a lot of push and pull between them which leads to heat, sweat and moans.

I enjoyed watching the main characters grow into a family throughout the story and am looking forward to seeing which O’Sullivan brother will get the next book.

This is the 1st in a new series and is Lucky and Prudence’s story. Lucky is the ruthless head of the Irish Mafia, and he runs a tight ship, and when Prue comes into his casino and starts to consistently win, his hackles are up. Prue has sworn off men, and gambling is serving its purpose at settling debts and caring for her younger sister. Neither of these characters are looking for a relationship, and the chemistry between them is combustible and undeniable, but Lucky has certainly met his match with Prue. This is a well written flawless story which is not for the faint-at-heart, and is dark, raw, gritty, intense, and with angst, emotions, witty banter, family, and love, which all leads to a humorous and steamy read. In my opinion this is this gifted author’s best work to date, and that is saying something because I love all her work. I look froward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Here it is...the amazing, must read spin-off from Rie Warren’s amazingly dark and sexy Krasnov Brothers Russian Mafia books, and it’s definitely begun with one helluva bang!

Lucky O’Sullivan doesn’t want the beautiful blonde gambling in his club anymore, but Prudence wasn’t that easy to scare off. Extremely frustratingly independent and sassy, but so damn sexy, Prudence was about to turn his world upside down. Lucky likes to be in control...of everything, and Prue was more than happy to challenge that control. The dynamics between these two was seriously steamy and extremely entertaining!

Prue is keeping a lot of secrets and although Lucky claims to be the opposite of a saviour, he seems to relish that role when it comes to her. Everything about their relationship and their connection is intense, from their fighting to their seriously hot sex...the perfect hostility and heat combination.

At times, my nerves were shot and I was on the edge of my seat because this is definitely mafia mayhem at it’s best...dark, violent and gritty, but oh so sexy, and yes, romantic too!

Lucky shows another side to himself🍀

Lucky is a spin off from Rie’s Russian Bratva series and focuses on their Irish Mafia ways😜 Suffice to say Lucky meets his match when Prudence aka Prue gambles in their establishment and wins each time❣️ Unfortunately, Prue had some bad luck until she meets Lucky and he turns her life upside down, inside out in the best of ways😁

I really enjoyed this story as it showed a completely different side to Lucky and his brothers but also made me fall in love with these brothers even more now that I got a chance to get to know them better🤩 I’m eager to see which brother is next on the chopping block and I’m hoping Derry gets a story of her own - down the track- as everyone needs an HEA and love❤️

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review😍

Love can be a game changer! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read

Lucky and Pru are pure magic! I loved the intensity and chemistry that these two characters exuded... you could feel it in your bones. Lucky is the Boss as in Irish Mafia Boss and he has never given any consideration to keeping any woman past one night, but Pru turns all of that around and love can be a game changer. Pru has no sights on Lucky, but everything falls into place once they meet. It’s like they fell into a complex but happy future together.

Lucky was raw and gritty, Rie Warren wrote her heart out with this masterpiece! Five Lucky Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✯✯5 Lucky & Pru Filled Stars!!!✯✯

Woohoo!!! I was hoping Rie would’ve given Lucky and his brother’s their own series ever since I read The Russian Thug and every book in that series I wanted it more.

I was glad Lucky, Kelly and Dex ended up teaming up with Kirill Krasnov and his brother’s to take out their Da after what he did to their baby sister Jo and mom. Now, Lucky’s in charge of the O’Sullivan mafia and they’re definitely making changes to the way thing’s were done before.

They’ve opened up their underground casino and that’s off to a good start. Lucky want’s to grow their mafia empire. Including their relationship with the Krasnov Zolotov Empire.

While at the casino Lucky has noticed a beautiful blonde coming in Saturday evening’s and keeping to herself winning big and leaving. Lucky doesn’t like it but he’s not sure why. He’s not sure if it’s Bc she’s winning or he’s worried about her getting home OK.

Lucky pulls her aside and demand’s she’s not come here and she’s not taking that lightly. While they go bk & forth the plane comes under attack by Yakuza. Lucky’s not sure why they’re coming after them but he plan’s on taking them out.

One minute Prudence is fighting with Lucky O’Sullivan and the next minute the Yakuza are attacking. While Lucky thinks they’re attacking his family, Prudence knows otherwise.

Prudence owes them money and they’re coming to collect. After Lucky shoot’s her Prudence ends up in the hospital. Next thing she knows Lucky’s given her a job at the same place he told her to never comeback to.

Prudence knows she should run far away from a dangerous guy like Lucky O’Sullivan. But, she owes the Yakuza money and her boss is a dangerous guy who is making her life hell and threatening to get her 17yr old disabled sister Derry taken away from her. She’s also got medical bills off Derry’s to pay off. Working for Lucky just might be the safest thing for her to do.

Her and Lucky’s chemistry is so off the chart’s. They can feel it and so can anybody who’s around them. As much as Prudence might want Lucky she won’t do it. ESP after what happened at her old job. She plan’s to keep it professional with Lucky at not get too close to him.

When trouble comes barging through her front door she has Derry call the one person she knows will save her. Prudence just doesn’t realize just what Lucky will do to actually save both her and her sister.

Lucky won’t beg a woman to be with him. He’s not sure why Pru is keeping him at arm’s length. But, he’s a patient man and he’ll wait for her to realize she belongs to him. When Derry called him when they were in trouble, Lucky was shocked. He didn’t know she 1- had a sister and 2- didn’t know she was in trouble.

The scene he walked into about killed him to see Pru in it. That night he packed up both girl’s and the demon cat and moved them in with him, his brother’s and Damage.

Lucky and Prudence got into a routine slowly. These two fought hard and loved harder. Prudence didn’t wanna give into her feeling’s for Lucky but he made it so so hard. Lucky was so good to her. But, Lucky and his brother’s were so so good to her sister it made her choke up and made it hard to not fall for him.

Lucky wished Pru would open up to him 100% but it wouldn’t stop him from showing her how much he cared for both her and her sister. Lucky also does something he’s never done before. Little by little he opens up to her. He tell’s Pru thing’s about what happened to his sister Jo that made him and his bro’s go after their da and he tells her thing’s about their mom. Thing’s he’s never told anybody. Not even his sibling’s and never plans to.

Just as Lucky thinks they’re going to be OK he can sense she want’s to run from him. Before they can figure it out the Yakuza show’s up at their compound and attack. Next thing Lucky realizes both Derry and Pru are in the hands of the Yakuza and he can only save one. Pru make’s the decision for him and makes him save Derry.

Pru knows Lucky will find her and will take out the Yakuza until he does. As long as her sister is safe with Lucky, Kelly and Dex. Lucky’s distraught by Pru being taken but for Derry’s sake he can’t show it. He knows he’s running outta time so him, his blood brother’s and his new extended family with the Krasnov brother’s and Zolotov mafia they go hunting to get back what’s his.

I read this book in one day!!! This book had everything you’d want in an enemies-to-lovers book. Talk about dark read that’s full of suspense! What was different about this book was a lot of time’s when the men are in the mafia the drama, fight’s and conflict comes from the mafia side and issue’s the men have had prior to the relationship. But, this time Lucky got caught up Bc of Pru and from what she was running from. It was a nice change to see for once.

I’m such a huge HUGE fan of Rie Warren’s. She’s one of my go-to authors. I don’t have to read a blurb for her book to go on my TBR list. I’m looking forward to Kelly and Dex’s stories.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Lucky is my first book by Rie Warren. I most definitely will be reading more. This book's alpha antihero is Lucky O'Sullivan, the head of the Irish mafia. He freely admits he is a bad man; someone with blood on his hands. They make their money illegally and the newest venture is an underground casino.

Prudence Knight is a tiny blonde who only Texas Hold 'Em every Saturday. She knows how to win. Prue is a snarky, feisty blonde who speaks her mind freely. She has a teenage sister in a wheelchair with lots of medical bills, the Yakuza on her tail over owed money, a stalking, creepy lawyer after her and she has just been banned from the casino by a hot Irish brute and then offered a job by this very man. She knows how to get under Lucky's skin, riling him up until he blows.

There is so much going on in this story. The book held my attention and had me turning the page. Lucky and Prue are like oil and water. They fight until it explodes but they can't seem to keep their hands to themselves. There are two other O'Sullivan brothers, Kelly and Dex. These brothers each have their own niche but are a solid front against enemies. Prue's younger sister Derry is quite a pistol. Heaven help the person who talks down to her or babies her because of the chair. All three brothers treat her without any pity. She thrives on it. Also the man and women from the Krasnov Brothers Bravata Series are interconnected and appear throughout.

Prue fights hard to keep her independence from Lucky but just one look from him... This man sets his target on Prue and ends up giving her his heart. He certainly won my heart. As they open up to each other, these two have more in common than they ever realized. Lucky and his brothers are violent, intense men who will kill for those who hurt who they love and they go to war for Prue and Derry.

Lucky is a must read for those of you that like men who make no apologies for who they are and what they do. Sit back and fire up the kindle with Lucky by Rie Warren.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
Bad boy billionaire….check
Bod boy’s crazy brother/friend…check
Bad boy’s Kryptonie…check ….check and check
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and how deep hate can run, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
(Believe me when I say you won’t put it down until the last page is read…you will find yourself getting upset cause someone called, texted or bothered you while reading this one, you will find yourself up at ungodly hours just to finish it knowing you have to be at work early (like 3am early) the very next day) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
This is such a deliciously dark series. Lucky is the oldest of the O’Sullivans and leads this branch of their Mafia organization. Keep in mind there two brothers and a sister each of them has their own branch. Lucky has noticed Prudence in his casino winning hand over fist beating the house each and every time. He is intrigued with her and doesn’t want to hurt her, so he resorts or attempts to scare her from winning in his casino by banning her. After banning her his casino comes under attack, he does everything in his power to ensure she is protected why is the question. These two go at each other and it is so fun to read the snark between them is hilarious, but it is a cover up for the intense chemistry and the magnetic pull each of them is feeling. But with the danger around the corner will/can he protect her without falling for her …oh wait it’s too late he has already fallen so what happens when emotional bonds weren’t on the menu, and attachments certainly weren’t supposed to form. But when fate put things in place and love rears her beautiful head throwing yet another wrench into the works?

*I received this book free from the author.*

Prue has learned to take care of herself and her sister no matter what. Meaning she’s had to put up with sleezy employers, learn to navigate the underground poker world (not always successfully), and take opportunities when they arise; even if it means working for someone you have a love/hate relationship with.

Lucky is the O’Sullivan’s eldest and the one in charge of overall operations. Nothing they do is legal, but they were born into the mafia world and recently with the help of the Russians (who are like in-laws) took it over for themselves. He, like his brothers, never wanted to settle down. He didn’t see the appeal to it. At least not until Prue started coming into his club. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her.

“Dance with me.”

“Why?” She looked at me in surprise, suspicion shadowing her irises.

“Because I’m standing in front of the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met and I’m asking you.” – I think I have a new book boyfriend. LOL!

The attraction between Lucky an Prue is so potent everyone around them can see it, even though they try to deny it to themselves. One touch will leave both wanting more.

Prue has secrets though, ones that can be dangerous to the O’Sullivans since they involve another syndicate. One who has no problem attacking their business and even their home to get the girl they want. But after Prue and her sister moved into Lucky’s compound they turned into family and no one messed with family. They’d do anything to protect them.

In Lucky there is a crazy stalker ex employer, a mother/son duo who bring a new level to crazy, a talented wheelchair bound sister who is hella sweet, an evil cat, family that shows no boundaries of their love, and two people who are utterly perfect for each other. There is action, suspense, humor, major sexual tension, and sizzling hot romance. It checks all the boxes for an awesome read and let me tell you…it does not disappoint!

He’s the oldest brother of the O’Sullivan mafia and is now the leader. After he and his brothers took care of their father, he became the head of the O’Sullivan Clan. Lucky O’Sullivan has no intention of settling down or having only one woman in his life. However, fate has other things in mind for him. There’s a woman that has been showing up at their underground casino and has his attention.

Prudence has obligations and needs to make ends meet to take care of those obligations. Her talent lies in gambling and she has been having a pretty good streak lately. The problem is that her streak has not always been good, and she has the Yakuza after her. They’re not the only threat to her and her life.

I really loved this story of two people that fought for so much in their lives to have what they have and found the only other person that can make their life better. Prudence has been a woman that could take care of herself for a long time and does not like to ask for help, but when she knows that her life could be in jeopardy, or at least that she’s in danger, she turns to the one man that wants more than to just rescue her from the current danger. He will want more and neither one of them are prepared for the feelings they bring out in each other. Lucky and Prudence are perfect for each other and I love how the O’Sullivan’s have taken in Prue and her sister as if they are already part of the family. This story incorporates the Zolotov Bratva, which this story is a spin off from and I love how they are one big family and help each other out. I give this story a 5-star review and if you love a mafia romance with a strong, sassy, independent woman you will love this book as well as the Krasnov Brothers books.

Well. this review was a long-time coming. To be clear, it had nothing to with the book itself, I would have devoured it, but I only read in certain circumstances, so it takes a while sometimes. Truth is, Rie is in prime form, and I could swear there is almost nothing she could release that I wouldn't lap up and get wet over.

Lucky was ALSO a long time coming. If you have read the Russian Mafia series, then you definitely fell in love with the Irish, so there was no doubt in my mind that this was happening - question was when. Spring of 2021 came Lucky, first of what I'm guessing will be 3 or 4 books.

Here's what I love about the Irish - they have a lighter mood to them that the Russian never had, even though they are also Mafia men and have seen their own hardships. They're just somewhat softer overall. And they are hilarious, all of them. But they are still sexy, and devious...in their own ways.

Lucky and Prue's romance is fire, but also pure emotion and connetion and romance, in a way that I haven't quite read in a while. It's as much about standing your ground as it is allowing yourself to be vulnerable. It is goofy and happy but also heartbreaking...and it's hot. Especially towards the end.

But I would be lying if I said Derry didn't steal the show. The teen is a firecracker and a gem. And I LOVE that Rie managed to touch on such a touchy subject like disability (as well as sexual assault and human trafficking) in an erotic romance series. I really hope she runs with it, becuase I'd love to see what she would do with such a character in such a genre!

Bottom line - I want MORE, MORE, and MORE of the O'Sullivan-Knight clan!

I always enjoy Ms. Warren’s books. Lucky is a great mafia suspenseful romance that is a spin off from her Krasnov Brothers, Russian Mafia series. Let me start by saying you don’t have to have read that series to enjoy this book. Being a spin-off, some of the other characters make their appearance, but again, nothing that would suggest you can’t keep up with this new series. (However, it’s a great series so if you haven’t read it and you like Mafia Romance, grab it up).

The synopsis above will pretty much give you the gist of the storyline, so I won’t rehash it. I will just say this is a dark, thrilling read with lots of action and romance. Lucky being the Boss of his family he commands your attention and nothing is off limits to what he’ll do to protect what belongs to him and the family. That includes Prudence, whether she wants his protection or not. She is a strong independent woman struggling to make ends meet for her and her sister. She doesn’t always make the best of choices but they are always made with the best of intentions, including her interactions with Lucky.

This is a very good read that I highly recommend getting in on the ground floor of the series. In fact this reader is anxiously waiting for book 2 of the O’Sullivan Brothers.

2 Thumbs Up and 4 Stars

Love the way this book started, with Prue at Lucky's club minding her own business and just doing her thang. Her response to Lucky was a surprise to him, and a freaking surprise to me to as the reader. Prue is strong willed, fast talking and fabulous. She stands up to Lucky, oldest brother of the Irish Mob - who truly doesn't know how to react.
What we become privy to, is the fact that Prue is in a bit of a bind. I was so freaking relieved when she was up front with Lucky and told him about the issue. Because that bit of information, even though a huge aspect of the story, the author did not use it as a dangling carrot. The reader as well as all of the players had the information. As a reader having the information and knowing the author has to let that issue play out was quite exciting. You knew something was going to happen, but when, where and would all survive was the question.
Both of the main characters in this book are fabulously interesting and fill the pages with lots of heat and steam. They were interesting together and interesting apart. Also enjoyed the supporting characters and anxiously awaiting the second book. I'm hoping the two characters in my head end up as a couple...that would be gloriously interesting.
Couldn't have kicked off the series with better characters.

Such a great start to this new series! It follows the Krasnov brothers series but you don’t need to read it first. Lucky is the oldest of the O’Sullivans, and leads this branch of their Mafia family. He has two brothers, Kelly and Dex, and his sister Joanna (who is married to Kirill Krasnov of the Russian Mafia). Lucky catches Prudence in his casino, winning against the house again, and decides to scare her a bit before banning her. Instead, he tries to protect her when they come under attack. They have such snarky banter in their heated episodes of attraction to each other, you just know it’s going to blow up! The plot was great, personal danger to Prudence on multiple fronts, plus gang-related issues. It was great to get to see the new family feeling with all the Russians & O’Sullivans at Baba’s Sunday lunches. I really enjoyed the relationship between Prudence & Derry, and how Derry was comfortable in her own skin & so accepted by everyone (what’s up with Damage? I gotta know!). Lots of action and violence, but also support and love for those who have experienced atrocities. Looking forward to the next book!

I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.

I wouldn't really label this as dark (though this is me we are talking about)
There are definitely some scenes that could be triggers for some
For me, the relationship between Lucky and Pru took front and center and the darkness that surrounded them was a necessity to reinforce certain events/actions

Yes, Lucky is 100% a Neanderthal "you mine me mark you" Alpha personality ...
In an ohhhhh so 😋 yummy way though

And the bad guys - of whom there are more than one - are bottom feeder psychos that had me cringing on numerous occasions- icky sicky make my skin crawl

Then there were the strong, independent and on occasion (fine most of the time)stubborn leading ladies - who kept me laughing and cheering on their antics

Pru had trouble accepting help as it usually came with a hefty price tag, one that she couldn't or wouldn't pay
Until Lucky

Derry was an awesome breath of fresh air. I look forward to her story. As well as Damage's and well...
All the brothers honestly
The solid supporting cast that independently and as a whole brought something to the story

A solid start to the series -
🔥Hot as hades chemistry
Suspense, bloodshed, and the violence you expect from a mafia read
Etched with a bit of mystery
All wrapped up with an HEA
For Now

Have you ever heard the saying “If they didn’t have bad luck, they’d have no luck at all”?  Well, meet Lucky by Rie Warren.  This is book one of The O’Sullivan Brothers series, which are, Dark Irish Mafia books.  This is a spin off from the Krasnov Brothers and there are lots of familiar characters.  This is a totally new and different series, and the Krasnov Brothers series is not required but boy will you be missing out if you don’t read them.  They are incredible.  So, Lucky is a great book and when I said dark mafia, I meant it.  There are all sorts of illegal mafia stuff but there is also lots of personal matter that is vexing.  The story line is unique and will have you enthralled from the very first chapter.  I loved the independent, sassy Prudence and the rough, take-no-prisoners (literally) Lucky.   Can a hardened criminal really have a heart of gold?  This book is all kinds of sexy and will leave you hot and bothered after many of the chapters.  Lucky’s brothers Kelly and Dex are astounding, and I really couldn’t figure out the mystery of Damage and what his main problem was.  The story telling was intense and mind-blowing and I just loved it.  5-shamrocks for Lucky by Rie Warren.

It's a very good thing that Rie Warren made sure there was a good deal of pages to Lucky since I would have never fallen for him had it been less lengthy to be honest. He sees Prue at his casino once a week & finally he decides that she can't come there anymore but it all ends with a shootout only he's the one who shoots her. He's not even sorry about it either which is where he almost lost me for good but he wasn't anywhere close to being developed. He ends up hiring her to work at his casino which allows her to quit her day job since that wasn't going quite so well either. She's very prickly so she kept me laughing with her snark since she wasn't about to divulge anything going on in her life, until she had no one else to call. And this is when things really start to shift, and I see him for more than a callous dude who decided to shoot a girl to keep her "safe." There's a lot of twists coming in hot as his life is dangerous, and she has danger stalking her so things get very dicey. By the end of this story I was firmly in love with Lucky, and now I'm ready for the other cutie brothers to get their own story. I do need answers about Damage though since his actions were uncalled for. Anyway, that's all from me so I'll end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!

I am a big fan of Rie Warren and her journey down the dark side of the mafia has only cemented my love of her books.
Lucky: Dark Irish Mafia Romance is the first book in her new O’Sullivan Brothers series and is a spin off of her Krasnov Brothers Bratva series. It has the same gritty, edgy feel balanced with those steamy moments, danger and some fantastic banter between the characters!
I just want to say that I like Lucky, a lot!! He is the boss of the family, has that protective streak engrained into him, takes no prisoners, and tells it like it is. Bottom line, he is the bad boy you can’t help but love!
Prudence has had no one to look out for her. She is independent, sassy, and definitely stubborn. She is also the protector of her younger sister and will do anything to keep her safe, but some of her last options for cash has put her in some hot water and also put her in the sights of Lucky O’Sullivan.
Talk about enemies to hot lovers, these two have it in spades and their bickering is just a precursor to the heat that flows between them.
But first Lucky has to keep Prudence safe and his harder task is convincing her that she can trust him and that she is it for him.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. The first book in the O'Sullivan Brothers series is Irish Mafia at its best. This was a really good love story between Lucky and Prudence. Lucky O’Sullivan is the head of the family and oldest brother. He is in control, in charge and never challenged. He has his priorities and his time is accounted for. He did not ask for, want or need the distraction of Prue. Prue is doing whatever it takes to take care of her family. But that has brought her to some places she did not want to be, including the attention of Lucky. He finds a way to once again get what he wants, Prudence. She does not want to be his or any mans, but he will win her over. She is just what he needs, a strong woman. There is plenty of drama, suspense, danger, family, lust and love. I liked the storyline and the characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series

The Boston mafia scene is back with the Irish in this new series. This book picks up with Jo’s brother, Lucky. He, and his brothers, have started an underground casino. Every week one lady comes in, makes a bunch of money and leaves. Lucky has had his eye on her and is in the process of escorting her out when the casino is attacked. Prudence is caught in the middle. After getting shot, Lucky offers her a job. He tries to get to know her and also figure out why she needs the money. She, however, does not make it easy on him.
Opinion
Ever the mafia book fan, I loved this addition to Ms. Warren’s book collection. The characters were both enthralling and frustrating. The story moved at a nice enough pace that the reader is kept entertained but also curious as to what will happen next. This book will not disappoint. E-readers be warned though, this is a pretty long book. You can expect to spend more time than normal with this one.
Many thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.

*** I WAS GIVEN AN ADVANCED READERS COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW ***

I was not immediately sold on this book when I started reading it, for once scene in particular, hence why only 4 stars. But as it went on, I really did get into it and loved the love/hate that Pru and Lucky have for each other. Its not an over done power struggle between them.

the strong and independent woman and the over baring alpha male who doesn't understand the draw and need to protect the leading lady.

It is quite amusing the shock that happens when she does listen to him, because even she knows that anything other than listening is certain death.

I love that there is sub stories building but they do not take away from the main plot just build it, at the sometime wanting for those next books to come out so you can love those characters all over again!.

DO recommend if you don't want and overly dark Mafia Romance.
