Clip Of Man Parking In Garage Only 6cm Wider Than His Car Goes Viral

A clip showing a Dutch man expertly parking in his garage, which is only six centimetres wider than his car has gone viral.

The clip, which was shared on Twitter, shows Eugene parking his Fiat Panda in his garage with barely any room to spare.

He explains to the camera that his car is 1.49m wide, and the garage is 1.55m wide, meaning he has 3cm on either side.

Commenting on the sponges on the walls, he explains that they are there for if he ever gets it wrong, but in the clip he glides into the spot with ease.

Firstly, he moves two chairs from in front of the door in his house - the reason for this will become clear later on, and moves his bicycle from in front of his garage door.

Lining the Panda up at the perfect angle, he puts his wing mirrors in, and edges into the space, parking his car with absolute precision in his tiny garage.

He can then be seen showing viewers of Dutch TV show Man Bijt Hond how he exits the car. Parking it in perfect alignment to the door of his house, he opens the car door through the entrance to his house, and steps straight in.

To shut the door, he pushes it forward slightly so that it can clear the door frame of his living room.

He then shuts the door behind him, placing the chairs back in front.

He adds: "Now just these two seats in front of it and my house is back as it was, just look. Voila."

According to reports, Eugene, who was 88 years old at the time of filming, in 2010, actually passed away in 2016. But his legacy lives on, and the clip has definitely entertained the internet.

It was shared on Twitter and has received almost a million views in 24 hours.

One person wrote: "I stuck out through the whole video just to see how he opens the door and it was worth it."

Another joked: "Where was this man when the ship was stuck in the Suez Canal?"

Someone else had their own anecdote for driving in Europe, sharing: "In France, everyone in our little cul-de-sac was expected to leave their parking break off and the car in neutral so people could push the cars forward and back depending on who had to leave first, second, etc. in the morning. By the end of the evening the bumpers touched."
