Ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar, Israel’s Permanent Representative to UN organizations in Geneva, accused the UNHRC of “creating a parallel universe where Hamas and Israel are given a moral equivalence, a parallel universe that has no grip in reality, where politics prevails over human rights. This session and this resolution are no different.”
Yeah. The UN is essentially a tool of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
“Israel slams UN’s ‘shameful’ war crimes probe,” by Aryeh Savir, World Israel News, May 30, 2021 (thanks to the Geller Report):
Israel harshly criticized the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after it passed a resolution on Thursday to launch a Commission of Inquiry against Israel for alleged war crimes it committed and called for an arms embargo against the Jewish state.
Twenty-four states, including Bahrain with which Israel recently signed a peace treaty, supported the motion, nine voted against it, and 14 countries abstained.
No European country supported the motion.
This is the first time that the UNHRC has voted to establish a permanent fact-finding mission on any UN member state.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated after the vote that the “shameful decision is yet another example of the UN Human Rights Council’s blatant anti-Israel obsession.”
“Once again, an immoral automatic majority at the Council whitewashes a genocidal terrorist organization that deliberately targets Israeli civilians while turning Gaza’s civilians into human shields. This while depicting as the ‘guilty party’ a democracy acting legitimately to protect its citizens from thousands of indiscriminate rocket attacks,” he stated.
“This travesty makes a mockery of international law and encourages terrorists worldwide,” he added.
The Foreign Ministry stated that Israel “rejects outright” the resolution by “a body with a built-in anti-Israel majority, guided by hypocrisy and absurdity.”
“Any resolution that fails to condemn the firing of over 4,300 rockets by a terror organization at Israeli civilians, or even to mention the terror organization Hamas, is nothing more than a moral failure and a stain on the international community and the UN,” Ministry Spokesperson Lior Haiat stated.
He noted that “Israeli security forces acted with the highest ethical standards, in accordance with international law, in defending our citizens from Hamas’ indiscriminate rocket fire” while Hamas committed “a double war crime – firing from civilian locations inside Gaza, at Israeli civilians. This resolution ignores that completely.”
The purpose of the Commission of Inquiry is to “whitewash crimes committed by the terror organization Hamas, and to incriminate Israel’s actions to defend itself and its population. Israel cannot and will not cooperate with such an investigation.”
Israel will “continue to defend itself against the terrorism of Hamas and against politicized international bodies that seek to delegitimize our lawful and just actions. Israel thanks all those countries at the HRC who did not support this outrageous resolution,” he concluded.
This session and this resolution are no different.”…
The UNHRC is infamously biased against Israel, with nearly half of its resolutions focused solely on Israel while it ignores war, strife and atrocities committed around the globe.

It is not a ‘war crime’ to collapse tunnels dug by the terrorists for the purpose of hiding their thousands of missiles and their movements. IDF is the most ethical military force in the world.
It will be hard for this commission to whitewash the crimes of Hamas which started their mass missile attacks against civilian areas, rather than military targets. The IDF did the opposite, targeting terrorists in tunnels.
Frank Anderson says
I wish I could agree. The problem I see is that the Nazis, who serve as the example for the present continuation of their drive for world conquest, had no problem whitewashing anything they wished. Look how easy it is for China’s biological warfare program to be whitewashed as we watch.
gravenimage says
Frank–with all respect–these tunnels are used to hide weaponry and attack Israel. The implication that Israel taking out these tunnels makes them Nazis is something I very much disagree with.
The entire purpose of these tunnels are to wage attacks on Israel–to move weaponry, to ambush Israeli troops, and to try to tunnel into Israel itself to give Jihad terrorists access.
Frank Anderson says
GI, the close alliance between Nazis and muslims during WWII is totally discussed in many accounts. After WWII, Hitler’s favorite “troubleshooter” Otto Skorzeny went to Egypt and elsewhere to train terrorists with the goal of continuing the killing of Jews. Notice how muslim formations march the same way as Nazis, with the right arm swinging and left hand on the belt. Twelve years of military school causes me to notice that behavior.
You are in great error to think I would liken Israel to the murderous liars whose goal from the first public speech given by Hitler to every action to this day is the extermination of all Jews; a goal shared with islam for its 1400 years. I have contributed what I can to help Israel after this terrorist attack. Have you?
Can you imagine the surprise at the local community when that contribution was received, considering our problems of the last several years? They may not like or welcome me; but I support them.
gravenimage says
Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying, Frank–my apologies. I thought you weer comparing Israel to the Nazis for taking out Hamas tunnels–I should have known better.
And I very much agree with you about links between the Nazis and Muslims.
I have not contributed to any charities in the wake of these Jihad terror attacks–although I should. I do give to charities aiding Holocaust survivors, though.
Do you have a charity you’d recommend?
Frank Anderson says
GI, in order to contribute without getting on a list, contact your local Jewish Welfare Fund. They may operate under a different name. By contacting a local Temple or Synagogue, you can reach the fund. Then contact its director to arrange an anonymous cash contribution for Israel. Deliver the envelope to the office and it is done with no trail. The risk of diversion is present, but highly unlikely.
Israel fired probably in excess of 6000 Iron Dome missiles, each one costing about 40,000 dollars. Hamas at the most recent count I read fired 4200 unguided rockets, costing a few hundred dollars each, with total indifference to who was killed or injured. Over 10 percent of their rockets landed in Gaza. Israel fires 2 Iron Dome rockets to increase the probability of stopping 1 Hamas rocket or mortar shell. They need to complete work on their laser system to reduce the cost.

Thanks, Frank. I’ve made donations through Chabad House in Berkeley before. I used to consult with the Rabbi there when I worked on a Jewish student publication.
Frank Anderson says
My local community would not let me within 100 miles of their publications. That is their problem.

Again, so sorry to hear that this happened to you, Frank. That you are not bitter says a lot about you.

GI, thanks to many people who taught me along the way, I try to focus on what is important. I think a short story illustrates: I had the absolute pleasure of working at a temporary job in San Francisco after being unemployed almost 2 years. I had to leave wife, mother and son over 2000 miles away on 2 days’ notice to be at 1 California Street, 5th floor or the jub went to someone else. Three months later, wife and son flew to SF for the weekend. I had spotted a huge Snuggle Bear at a drug store down Market Street from the office; and walked down to buy it for the boy. It was bigger than he was. When I walked back to the office the bear was on my left arm where my son usually rode (his feet rarely touched the floor in my presence), and I had a huge smile as I walked. When I reached the building and started in the elevator, a lady said, “Mister, you have got to be one of the best adjusted men I have ever seen.” “Thank you, I know who I am and what I am about.” In many situations what others think of me is far less important that what I think of myself. I am probably more critical and demanding of myself than most would dare to be. Just because a local community is too stupid, blind and hard-headed to follow its own wisdom does not mean I must also follow their stupidity.
gravenimage says
That’s a great story, Frank! Thanks for telling it.
By the way, my father, who was in construction, worked on One California Street.
Frank Anderson says
GI, please remember that a lot of what I write here is my “message in a bottle”.

It will be too easy for this ‘commission’ to blame Israel for defending herself and to make the terrorists blameless victims.
They will lie about it, and the world will jump on the bandwagon with them, because the world wants Jews to be guilty. Very few people care about the truth where Israel or Jews are concerned. No matter what we do, it will never be enough.
Frank Anderson says
Bahrain’s vote is completely in line with standard muslim teaching. Lie like dogs to take advantage and then exploit that advantage when an opportunity is presented. Any promise a muslim makes to a worthless, lower than dirt, worthy only of slavery or killing infidel has no meaning other than to deceive the fool who believes it. RS tells the graphic story in Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam where a community of Jews were promised safe passage if they dropped their weapons and abandoned their fortified village. As soon as they were exposed, the men were killed and women and children enslaved. That is the perfect example for all time.
James Lincoln says
Frank Anderson,
Years back, I became friends with a U.S. Navy A-6 Intruder pilot who had spent a lot of time in the Middle East.
Before I went on my own Middle East deployment, he warned me about islam and muslims, i.e., the essentials of the common threads that run throughout Jihad Watch. The talk occurred over two or three beers in the Officers’ Club.
I clearly remember him saying that “you can never tell if a muslim is telling the truth.” I smiled, shook his hand, thanked him for the advice – but I secretly questioned what he said about muslims and islam.
I soon found out firsthand that he was totally right – and the knowledge was able to keep me out of a lot of trouble…
Frank Anderson says
James, I have lived most of my life with many people. Some of them had words of pure gold. Others alloyed a small amount, allowing for human frailty. But some, if their lips were moving, they were lying.
I predict we have both observed the worst liars are those who make people trust them by their “sweet” and convincing behavior. With my well-earned nickname of a certain Japanese monster, I have never been bothered with anything so important that I would lie about it. 12 years in military school with an honor system made its impression. When I think someone is a chronic liar, I will not waste my time.
You may remember the short story about the time the judge wanted me to negotiate when there was nothing to compromise. My client was accused falsely of co-signing corporate debts, that his brother and majority owner forged. There was no middle ground. My client won when we caught the brother again falsifying records.
Another, and probably the worst of my experience, was the most honored and trusted member of a worldwide fraternity, who served in the only local fraternal position that was normally for life. After 4 years he was finally caught stealing literally every dime in the fraternity’s local accounts. When people start heaping honors, I start asking why. Trust but verify. And when someone tells you they will lie, believe them. M, the perfect man and perfect example for all time, lied.
James Lincoln says
Much thanks for your reply, Frank.
Be well my friend…
Frank Anderson says
It may be that we help each other: That is not a bad result.
Eva says
I never expected anything else from a moslem country.
The Abraham accords are nice in theory, but in practise, they’re a catastrophe.
A moslem is a moslem is a moslem. They will never be a friend to Israel or to Jews. They will, however, lie about it.
In all honesty, how Israel hasn’t learned that lesson by now is absolutely beyond me.
Optimism is all well and good, but this is ridiculous.
Frank Anderson says
Eva, the Abraham Accords reflect complete and total ignorance of all of islam’s teaching, practice and history for 1400 years. Considering the many ways that ignorance could be cured with a few hours of reading, the ignorance must be considered as deliberate. “Deliberate ignorance constitutes knowledge of the truth.” Wyle v. R. J. Reynolds, 709 F.2d 585 (9th Cir. 1983).
Walter Sieruk says
It shouldn’t be forgotten and always kept in mind that the use of a strong power on military might is important and necessary to send the hostile and murderous jihadists of Hamas a message to stop engage rocket jihad terrorism in the only language the they are able to understand , which is the message of brute force of airstrikes on Hamas bases.
There is a problem caused by the Hamas terrorists which is that those despicable jihadists of Hamas deliberately hide among the civilians using them as “human shields.”
Therefore is innocent civilians are killed in the airstrikes is the fault of Hamas.
Michael says
In Islamic law, a Muslim has the right to beat a Jew, and the Jew ceases to be a dhimmi and becomes a kuffar harbi is he so much as raises his arm to incur defense injuries. He is at liberty only to beg for mercy.

So true. This exposes most of the Muslim hatred of Israel–that Jews are living in freedom.
Fred van de Bunt says
Pakistan, backed by the Organisation of Islam countries, put the demand for an investigation forward: https://undocs.org/A/HRC/S-30/1
The complaint is about the last session of violence, described by Ms. Bachelet:
https://www.ohchr.org/EN/NewsEvents/Pages/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=27116&LangID=E
Indeed it is said by her, that Israel has the Iron Dome, and a professional army. A reason why many young people joined the Palestinian demonstrations: the big bad Israeli army against Calimero Hamas.
One major point has been forgotten: the terror strikes. Here a list, only referring to victims in Israel:
https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/comprehensive-listing-of-terrorism-victims-in-israel
Apart from that, like in Europe, terror strikes against only Jewish targets have been executed, including the planned killing of Jewish children. This was not done out of defence, but the children were cold blooded murdered. Hamas, or Hamas allies can be presumed to be the perpetrators.
And Hamas has powerful allies:
“Both the Taliban and Hamas’ parent organization, the Muslim Brotherhood…”
https://www.nber.org/system/files/working_papers/w10004/w10004.pdf
Not only for the Taliban, but also for Al Qaeda, and other Islam terror gangs, the Jews and Israel are a priority cause to terrorize for. So the 9/11 victims are also part of the thousands and thousands of terror victims that can be for a large part put on the bill of Hamas and their “brothers”.
All these thousands and thousands of terror victims do not take part in the case brought forward by Pakistan unfortunately.
Keith O says
The UNHCR have willingly become the sock puppets of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
This will be little more than a show trial.
john smith says
The UN Human Rights Commission should be re-named to The Anti Israel Commission, because that’s exactly what it is. It’s just unbelievable that they launch a war crimes investigation against a country who’s only crime was defending themselves against the aggressor.
.
Fred van de Bunt says
Robert, you moderated my comment in the garbage bin.
I only tried to help, because it seems everybody forgets about the thousands of terrorist victims, that died for the ideological terror cause of Hamas and Hamas like terror gangs all over the world.
The amount of people that died unfortunately during Israel defending themselves is only a small part of the victims of willingly without defence reasons perpetrated Hamas and Hamas like terror violence all over the world.

UN to investigate Israel for war crimes for defending itself against ‘Palestinian’ jihad
……………….
Just disgusting–but given the UN’s ugly history of targeting civilized Israel’s defending herself, this scarcely surprises.
Note that the UN has *no* problem with Hamas attacking Israeli civilians to begin with.
BlackSabbath says
UN needs to be investigated for war crimes for its support to islamic jihad. If found guilty, the organization needs to be purged.
OLD GUY says
The UN has lost its usefulness in the world and has become just another lap dog for the dictators and suppressors of freedom. The free world countries needs to get out of the UN and stop funding it. Having an organization of FREEDOM loving nations who work together to protect and advance their citizens lives would be a better place to put your resources.
The UN is overrun with communist, socialist and dictatorship countries that support each other against the rest of the world.
libertyORdeath says
Hopefully more countries will begin to open their eyes and follow President Trump’s example and begin to divest themselves from the hopelessly unhelpful array of UN bureaucracies.
What did the WHO and UN do to help the world during the pandemic?
The covered up for China, published CCP propaganda as fact, and destroyed economies with their lockdown and mask policies.
What are they doing to help provide peace in the Middle East?
The downplayed Trump’s historic Abraham accords, sent or convinced countries to send billions of dollars to “Palestinian” terrorists, and slanderously accused Israel of apartheid and human rights violations while ignoring the rampant abuses of the “Palestinians”
On top of all this tbey are still trying to force the Iran nuclear deal on countries while Iran violates every single term of the deal.
What are they doing to help the world’s economies?
The push the overblown “climate change” threat, costing billions of people a chance at a better life while lining the pockets of politicians and the “climate change” profiteers.
What are they doing to protect their members sovereignty?
They push for open borders, mass migration, and the destruction of Western culture and society. These policies do nothing but increase crime and decrease the standard of living in both the host countries and the countries that the migrants come from.
What has the UNHRC done to protect human rights?
They pander to China while they committ genocide and force their citizens into slave labor and nonconsentual sterilization. They ignore the stunning human rights abuses of African and Middle Eastern countries for fear of being labeled racist. They encourage migrants to enter into human trafficking, sex trafficking, and to embark on dangerous journeys instead of making their lives and their countries better. The fact that less than 10% of so-called “asylum seekers” are actual refugees fleeing war or persecution is telling.
If you can think of something a U.N. organization has done that has actually helped more than a small fringe group, please let me know because I can’t think of any.
