What could possibly go wrong? Celebrate diversity! My latest in FrontPage:
Terrorists are going to do what they’re going to do, but at last sensible, reasonable people of all three great Abrahamic faith traditions are doing their best to overcome ancient enmities and walk together into the glorious multicultural future. Church Militant reported Thursday: “In a historic first Thursday, a coalition of Jews, Christians and Muslims laid the foundation stone of a 47-million-euro interfaith shrine on the ruins of the 12th century St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Berlin. Hailed by the Vatican as a ‘house of prayer bringing the three world religions together under one roof,’…the House of One anticipates Pope Francis’ own pet project of an Abrahamic House.” This will fix everything, won’t it?
The German government is betting heavily on its doing so. Church Militant noted that “federal and state governments are pouring 30 million euro of taxpayer cash into the edifice, besides financing several staff positions including a social media team. Private donors are supplementing the remaining costs.”
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Berlin is also heavily invested in the project. The Catholic Saint Hedwig Centre explained: “The archbishop of Berlin is not a sponsor but is linked to the project. Archbishop Heiner Koch is a member of the foundation’s board of trustees.” Koch said that the House of One would “enable a dialogue process that does not exclude the intellectually critical.
Meanwhile, the papacy’s L’Osservatore Romano was enthusiastic, calling the House of One an “innovative project that creates a common space for the three great, monotheistic religions.” Christian Wulff, who served in the largely ceremonial position of president of Germany from 2010 to 2012, said that those who opposed the House of One should go read Pope Francis’ encyclical Fratelli Tutti. Wulff declared: “I think it is very helpful for the concept of the ‘House of One’ — especially the pope’s advice that God loves all people regardless of their religious affiliation.”
Yeah, well, Wulff, that’s not really the issue that is in doubt here. The non-Muslims involved in this project have no idea of how they’re being played, and would accuse anyone who tried to explain it to them of “Islamophobia.” But nonetheless, the reality is that this is a deceptive project that will not lead to any good outcome. It is a manifestation of this Qur’an verse: “And do not argue with the People of the Book except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, ‘We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims to Him.” (Qur’an 29:46)
This may appear to be a generous statement of interfaith understanding, but it is actually an example of Islamic proselytizing. Muslim Brotherhood theorist Sayyid Qutb explained what is behind it: “The chasm between Islam and Jahiliyyah [the society of unbelievers] is great, and a bridge is not to be built across it so that the people on the two sides may mix with each other, but only so that the people of Jahiliyyah may come over to Islam.” Dialogue, in other words, is a means of dawah, Islamic proselytizing, not a genuine discussion or exchange. The proclamation that we all believe in the same God is a prelude to the appeal to accept Muhammad as a prophet and the Qur’an as a holy book.
Meanwhile, in this building, presumably the Gospel will be proclaimed, as well as the Qur’an. In the Qur’an, the Virgin Mary gives birth to Jesus, but it is stated that he is not the Son of God (19:35), not divine (5:17), and was not crucified (4:157), and thus could not be and is not the savior and redeemer of the world. This will be a decidedly mixed message. If past experience of “interfaith dialogue” is any guide, it will be resolved by the Christians toning down proclamation of the distinctive aspects of their faith so as to avoid offending the Muslims. This will make their proclamation closer to Islam in its character, as all will be left will be a declaration of monotheism and little else, and this will be viewed by the Muslim party as a victory of their proselytizing and sign of the submission of the Christians required in Qur’an 9:29.
Nothing will be said of Muslim persecution of Christians. Bishop Robert McManus of Worcester, Massachusetts even said explicitly a few years ago that he didn’t want to have a public discussion of Muslim persecution of Christians for fear that it would harm Muslim-Christian dialogue.
That epitomizes the futility and self-defeating nature of this dialogue. It won’t save a single Christian from persecution or a single church from being destroyed. This interfaith “temple” will make the Jews and Christians feel good about their openness and generosity, and the Muslims think they’re making progress in proselytizing. It will fuel all the worst impulses in Islam for supremacism and the superseding and replacement of Judaism and Christianity. As the non-Muslims go to the House of One to celebrate diversity, they will find the ground quickly and efficiently cut out from under their feet.

Wasted, naive and doomed optimism. Preaching to the choir so to speak. Let’s get everyone together who already believes in the fantasy and declare “progress”!

Henry Mansfield says
I can’t remember ever believing in anything except a Planet Earth formed from cosmic dust and having life built up from single-celled organisms over billions of years.
All religion is gibberish to me but some religions are more lacking than others.
Islam is the most transparently false and the most lacking in terms of the qualities that separate humanity from purely animalistic considerations.
Islam was fashioned by a madman, Shinto was fashioned by people seeking aesthetic perfection and Christianity was fashioned by people seeking a minimum of human strife.
I’m no theologist but I’m no idiot either.
I offer no solutions but I do offer resistance to stupidity and malice.
Wellington says
Henry Mansfield: While not religious myself, I don’t go so far as you do in claiming “all religion is gibberish.”
Some religions, minus their pure theology, do produce a laudable ethic to live by (as well as some interesting metaphysical arguments respecting ultimate reality). Judaism and Christianity come foremost to mind here but Hinduism and Buddhism have merit too. Islam has no merit however in the “ethics department” or in any other “department.”
Another matter and it is this: Certainty in life is elusive and seldom “accomplished.” But here is a certainty this agnostic would stand by, i.e., there is no way to prove that God exists and there is no way to prove that God does not exist. This allows a great deal of leeway for sundry religious (and philosophical) interpretations of ultimate reality. Besides, minus Islam, and a la Benjamin Franklin, himself a skeptic, if man is bad with religion, imagine what he’d be without it. Or, as Voltaire opined, if God doesn’t exist, we’ll have to invent Him.
Put another way, and once again minus Islam which is the exception to the rule, man is pathetic with religion but even more pathetic without it.
Your turn if you care.
Henry Mansfield says
I’ve commented here off and on for the past decade and my comments steered away from religion into matters of sheer human decency.
Islam didn’t go out of my way to highlight differences in theology.
If a framework of behavior as espoused in a religion makes basic human decency easier for you then I don’t reject you for that.
Matter of fact, your religion gains my respect.
Best wishes for you, Sir.
Wellington says
Just for the record, Henry Mansfield, I am not religious at all. Not one fiber of me. My salient point was to indicate that some religions (certainly not Islam) are necessary even if not true. That was both Benjamin Franklin’s point as well as Voltaire’s and why I invoked them. Hope this clears up this “matter.”
Thanks for your reply.

Don’t be too hasty with proclamations about the existence or not of God, religion you can blast away at as much as you like since they are all contrived by man but God might be another matter.
Why do I say that as someone who believes in science and the scientific method?
My reason is the ‘fine structure constant’ 1/137. Everything depends on it having that value, if it didn’t have that value we wouldn’t be here but here’s the catch, there is no reason why it has that value, no fundamental cause or influence has been found to explain why it has that value, it is like it was ‘set’ by some authority over the makeup of the basic relationship of matter in the universe which is why I suspect that there might actually be a higher authority of some kind, somewhere.
gravenimage says
Yes–many scientists have been devout Christians.
Wellington says
“…there is no reason why it has that value…” No reason why it doesn’t either.
You see, yes, Sommerfield’s constant can be placed with Pi, i.e, 3.14. One could just as much ask, so what? Kinda’ like Calvin Coolidge being asked why, when Vice-President under Harding, he went to say many official dinners and his response was, “Gotta’ eat somewhere.” Things have to be placed somewhere and why not 3.16 or 1/139 instead of 3.14 or 1/137?
My larger point here being that “determinants” in the universe, in physics, mathematics, hell even with luncheons and dinners, et al. may exist because one thing over another must exist and this somewhat tendentious (though I want to note not illogical) way of establishing a Supreme Being still fails because, a la Kant, existence is not necessarily a category of an idea. We are still thrown back on Kant’s premise, i.e., that it is not a matter of the mind understanding “the universe out there” but rather the “universe out there” being understood only in so far as it conforms to the make-up of the human mind. It is Kant’s intellectual version of the Copernican astronomical revolution. Add David Hume’s complete skepticism to all of this and you really do have a philosophical wtf?
Your turn if you care, gregbeetham, and I do thank you for your input and I don’t mean this at all sarcastically.
Ultimately it is the case it clearly appears that ultimately so much is not knowable. Every truly honest person goes to their death, even those in advanced old age (actually, especially those in advanced old age) comprehending, a la Socrates, that the more they know the more they realize they know nothing.
Finally, as you yourself stated, “God might be another matter,” but, then again, God might not. Still not sure if God created man or man created God. Gee, I wonder if there is a third possibility lurking out there?
Your turn if you care.

Doesn’t Germany have no state religion? In that case, how do German governments – both federal and state – put €30 million into it?
Also, the article stated that ‘the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Berlin is also heavily invested in the project’. Just them? How invested are the muslims of either Berlin or Germany? Or other denominations, be it Lutheran, Jew, Eastern Orthodox and so on?
Also, will that end the rape culture of the muslim squatters in Deutschland, or just exacerbate their behavior?

No, a few years ago, when I was on Twitter, I would occasionally see such memes and save them on my Instagram account. When most of the people I followed and who followed me got banned, I closed my Twitter account. That actually happened after I was temporarily suspended for using the term ‘Rapefugee’ – the term Europeans use for muslim refugees who would rape the locals. After I got back in, I saw many of my ‘friends’ gone, and in solidarity w/ them, I deleted my account

The project will not succeed, because Islam wants to destroy Judaism and Christianity. There is no point in pretending the three can make common cause and work for the same goals. They do not all worship the same God, and nothing they say will change it. Imagine the Imam apologizing to the other two and promising to change his religion. That is never going to happen. So why bother with this phony project.

Jim, this is Taqiyya–it lulls Infidels into a false sense of security regarding Islam. The hope is that Jews and Christians and other Infidels will not wake up until too late.
Imam Kadir Sanci–he’s the Imam in the picture above–has said about the “House of One”:
“For us Muslims, it presents a wonderful opportunity to be taken seriously in our home, in Germany”
This shows that this mostly presents a whitewash for Islam.
He has also described Jihad terror attacks like the one in Nice as his “religion being abused”. No word about the actual victims.

As usual, JW has only to report their own words to reveal their machinations. “shrine on the ruins of the 12th century St. Peter’s Catholic Church”…….So when will we see the same built on the ruins of a mosque, eh Francis?
“Hailed by the Vatican as a ‘house of prayer bringing the three world religions together under one roof,’…A mere roof will not do your work for you as the faiths cannot mutually coexist given islam’s imperative to kill them wherever you find them. But so long as you can offer up the poor and defenseless, I.e., little girls in the UK and Christians in Africa and Pakistan, usw, as the target, Francis, you’re fine with it all.
“the House of One anticipates Pope Francis’ own pet project of an Abrahamic House” ……..and on he goes with the heresy that Christianity is the cult of Abraham.
“pouring 30 million euro of taxpayer cash into the edifice, besides financing several staff positions including a social media team”…. And taxpayers consented?
“the three great, monotheistic religions.”……. Except islam does not consider Christianity monotheistic and therefore commands war.
“fear that it would harm Muslim-Christian dialogue”…..Their pagan god. A dialogue they presume will save their own necks, if only for a day.
wpm says
Islam sworn mission is to destroy Jews and Christians either by enslaving them or killing them out right they will lie, cheat, mislead, in time do anything to reach that goal , .Might as well build a church and invite Nazis in or devil worshipers to share their ideas and faith on the same altar .In Pope Francis mind it is just another “Abrahamic faith” it is so far removed from either Christian Jewish rules, cultural, golden rules that it never be mended or change .Islam is a bend twisted tree the only way to straiten it is to break it.
Hoi Polloi says
Seems to me their allegiance to islam is due to the cover provided by its definition as a religion. Francis has repeatedly refused to clean his own house and more than once I’ve thought these “religious leaders” envy the absolute freedom islamic leaders have to do evil.
wpm says
It is a religion just a religion that is based on violent, murder, slavery ,oppression , it is a bad religion .In the passed there were religions based on human sacrifice ,cannibalism, murder and slavery they all die out ,or were wipe out .To say that Islam is just another “Abrahamic faith” is like saying poison ivy is just like an apple tree they both have fruit, apples for the tree, berries for the ivy and are both safe to consume the fruit of either or they could both be put into your fruit cocktail with no ill effect.

I noticed this as well, Hoi Polloi. There is a long and ugly Muslim history of either seizing Christian Churches and turning them into Mosques, or razing them and building a Mosque on the ruins. These are acts of Muslim surpremacy.
I have been unable to learn more about how this Church was ruined–did it just fall into ruin? Did it suffer damage during WWII? In any case, it now presents Muslims with another opportunity for Islamic surpremacy.

Definitely does, as we all know well it’s part of their theology, this mosquing on the sites of others.

..However, create a cartoon depicting ‘the image’ of Mohammad, or point to the barbaric insanity reflected in the Qur’an, their book, ‘Reliance of The Traveller’, or ‘Milestones’, and all the crazies come out of the woodwork, and threaten to blow you up, lop off your head, and or turn you in to the UN, the World Court, CAIR (Muslim Brotherhood), the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (and others around the country), or.. ..the Biden DOJ.. ..for a ‘hate crime’ or ‘hate speech’..
I think that 1,400 years of this is long enough to get a clear picture and assessment of what’s what here, don’t you?
And, this is NOT a ‘one-off’ as they say.. How about that Boulder, Colorado ‘King Supers’ attack?
So.. It’s ‘mental illness’ AGAIN?
OK, I’ll take the bait here.. My argument is that the entire insane, bloodthirsty, and barbaric ‘POLITICAL MACHINE’ masquerading as a religion for political and legal cover, is based upon a platform of a 1,400 year programming effort of a collective ‘MENTAL ILLNESS’.. I’m good with that assessment.. You?
Whether we are talking about 9/11, or any of the thousands of attacks, assaults, killings, and much more since, and before as well, we are faced with a serious problem, which ‘the group hug’ and the so called ‘interfaith dialogue’ approach just ‘ain’t gonna cut it’, or address or problem solve..
..How about the 13 Christian churches burned to the ground in Minnesota since 2012? (now 14 as of this year).. There are cities and towns all over Minnesota, which are almost uninhabitable due to this nonsense, and the problems associated with it are growing by the day.. Let us begin with Minneapolis and St. Cloud for just two examples of so many here..
After almost 50 years here as a voluntary Minnesotan, and for reasons connected to this growing and massive problem, and many others we have invited into, or manufactured like a cancer in to what once was a great place in which to live and raise a family, I am leaving Minnesota before it is too late..
..And now this?
While I am absolutely positive that the current Catholic Church ‘pontiff’, and communist-socialist that he is, ‘feels’ that this is sort of ‘cool’, I can assure all of you that it is not. For over 1,400 years this group hug approach has born nothing but pain and misery for the entire planet.
..Can we say ‘Trojan Horse’? ..Again?
‘Love thy neighbor’? OK, but in case you (we) haven’t noticed, they are not ‘lov’in ya back’ as they say..
