My latest in PJ Media:
We know that eleven people were arrested in Massachusetts after an armed standoff with police, but the establishment media has been unsure of exactly who they are. They’re clearly not the media’s preferred bogeymen, “white supremacists,” as they’re black Americans, but they claim to be Moroccans, even unfurling the Moroccan flag on I-95 during their confrontation with the cops. The truth about them is wilder than even the media’s guesses.
Fox News noted Sunday that the group calls itself “Rise of the Moors,” and pointed out that it has a “strong online presence, with a website and social media, including a YouTube channel, an Instagram page and a Facebook page.” It did not, however, take more than a cursory glance at that online presence, instead turning to none other than the notoriously discredited far-Left hate group known as the Southern Poverty Law Center to explain what the group is all about: “The Southern Poverty Law Center describes the Moorish sovereign citizen movement as a ‘collection of independent organizations and lone individuals that emerged in the early 1990s as an offshoot of the antigovernment sovereign citizens movement, which believes that individual citizens hold sovereignty over, and are independent of, federal and state government.’”
That’s false, as you might expect coming from a gang of evil liars with a far-Left, hateful agenda to destroy the defenders of freedom and enable its enemies. Nothing the SPLC says can be trusted. No news organization should ever treat the SPLC as if it were a neutral, reliable source of information. Any news organization that does this has discredited itself by doing so.
The reality is this: the “Moorish sovereign citizen movement” did not arise in the 1990s, but about eighty years before that. Few news outlets have reported on the fact, but the Rise of the Moors group is part of the Moorish Science Temple of America, a group founded in the 1910s by a black American who called himself Noble Drew Ali. Noble Drew Ali, whom the Rise of the Moors call “our great and illustrious Prophet,” put together the group’s scripture, the Holy Koran of the Moorish Holy Temple of Science, out of existing works of esoteric spirituality, combined with his own writings.
That book is not the Qur’an of Islam, although Noble Drew Ali claimed that black Americans were Moors, descendants of Moroccans, and the group identifies itself as Islamic. The Nation of Islam is a breakaway group from the Moorish Science Temple of America, and teaches some of the same race hatred combined with Islam. The Moorish Science Temple asserts that the Dred Scott decision is still in effect: “In March 1857, the Supreme Court issued a 7–2 decision against Dred Scott. In an opinion written by Chief Justice Roger Taney, the Court ruled that black people ‘are not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word “citizens” in the Constitution, and can therefore claim none of the rights and privileges which that instrument provides for and secures to citizens of the United States.’ It was stated that the 14th Amendment reversed that. This link from congress proves otherwise – Proceedings and debates of the 90th congress 1st session vol 113 part 12, June 12 1967, page 15641”

Group in Armed Standoff with Police in Massachusetts Claims to Be Moroccan and Muslim; They’re Neither
………………
Yes–the “Rise of the Moors” is neither Moroccan nor Muslim–not orthodox Muslim, at least. But just like other Black Muslim groups like Nation of Islam and its splinter group Your Black Muslim Bakery, it is violent. Certainly mainstream Islam in that manner.
PRCS says
Your Black Muslim Bakery.
What a bunch, eh.
gravenimage says
I know, PRCS. Only Muslims could make a bakery a terrorist group.
My husband and I used to patronize them–they had a stand at the Oakland A’s ballpark, believe it or not. Tasty stuff. But eventually I heard too much about their racist hatred of white people.
And this was before I learned that they were also involved in fraud, theft, child rape, kidnapping, murder, and political assassination. Ugly, ugly stuff. I knew two of their victims.
CogitoErgoSum says
They probably base part of their claim to being the original inhabitants of North America on the great stone heads carved by the Olmecs and which look like they might be of black men – except those are in South America. Nothing similar has been found in North America as far as I know. I think these “Moors” are claiming the wrong continent.
Jillian says
They DO CLAIM THEY ARE the first peoples in America ! I must say, these groups have been trying to say that Islam is the original peoples of North America for at least twenty years! Search YouTube and you’ll see their insane videos. It’s always seem to try to steal other groups identity like the Black Hebrews, and then claim they are the REAL Hebrews. Tired of these nuts. They have a whole continent they can play with, they should go there!
gravenimage says
Yes–the “Black Hebrews” are actually virulently antisemitic. Bizarre and ugly stuff.
CogitoErgoSum says
I just refreshed my memory concerning the Olmecs. I was wrong about their civilization being in South America. It was in Central America, around the southern part of Mexico. So if these “Moors” have any claims at all they should be made with Mexico. But black people were not living anywhere in North, South or Central America at the time the Europeans arrived. The Olmecs disappeared around 400 AD and were either assimilated into the other civilizations whose ancestors came from Asia …. or they “returned” to Africa. Either way, black people from Africa have no support for any claim to land anywhere in the Americas based on being indigenous people. If they do, I certainly would like to know what it is.
gravenimage says
CogitoErgoSum, there are some loons that claim that all Black slaves were actually Indians who were shipped to Africa and then brought back to the US. Typical is this incoherrent thing:
http://theoklahomaeagle.net/2019/07/02/98-of-african-americans-are-in-fact-native-indians-and-are-owed-millions/
They toss in the occasional actual historical reference, but that doesn’t make this premise any less absurd. Needless to say, there is no historic, archeological, or genetic evidence to back this up.
gravenimage says
By the way, DNA studies have shown that the Olmecs were not African.
CogitoErgoSum says
Oh! Thanks, Graven. I was just wondering about that.
gravenimage says
Thanks, CogitoErgoSum:
“Genetic and immunological studies over the past two decades have failed to yield evidence of precolumbian African contributions to the indigenous populations of the Americas.”

Infidel says
For people who claim to be opposed to racism, they sure are obsessed about being recognized as the original, true ‘Hebrews’. As Hillary Clinton might have put it, “What difference does it make?”
somehistory says
They call themselves the Black Hebrews, claiming to be the “lost Tribe” of Israel.
But, these groups all hate Jews, the real “Hebrews.”
And, what is more, they deny the assistance that many Jews have given them. Jews have heard the outcry of Blacks as a “minority” and done what they could to help the situation in the past, as they know and understand what being a “minority” is like.
But, the Blacks (the racists/militant ones), have never appreciated this nor have they had any idea of reciprocity. Instead, they show hatred, and heap abuse.
gravenimage says
Very true, Somehistory.
Mike says
Rise of the Moors?? more like rise of the morons
It is hard to take them seriously when they behave in such infantile manner.
Can you think of a better way to attract attention to yourself than to dress in full battle regalia standing by the side of I-95 at 2am while refueling your car from a Jerry can waving the red Moroccan flag???? HELLLLOOOO??? yea someone is gonna say WTF?
They are way too hung up on the soldier wannabe costume… no different than the 4 yr old wanting to wear the superman onesie and red cape to the supermarket…
You want camo? what’s the purpose of cammo? …..to blend in to the background to hide in plain sight…
you are headed to Maine.. a state with what??? less than one percent black population??? helooooo!!!!…yea you are going to stand out whether you like it or not…..
aaaaand….you are going to be on the highway in Mass-Holistan on the 4rth of July..
You do know Mass has some of the most gun restrictive laws in the country ….
aaaaaand the state troopers there have the reputation for being royal jerks and THEY WEAR GESTAPO GET-UP TO ADVERTISE IT…..
You want blend into the background and NOT attract undue attention???? … what’s the background?
A million and one PWT headed to Maine to drink beer on the lake for the 4rth… how about you put THAT costume on… You know… the pink kids bike with the white tires and training wheels hanging off the bumper…the 120$ orange Wallyworld rubbermaid kayak on the roof….throw a bunch of pool noodles and the pink unicorn inflatable pool toy in the back seat, … wear a Red Sox ball cap and a Patriots Jersey….
You don’t go waltzing down I-95 in full battle regalia and expect to get away with it..
yea….. Morons…..

Doubt those fools could find Africa on a map.
Bikinis not Burkas says
Like most Americans couldn’t find Africa on a map!

Infidel says
Education has gone downhill, and has been going downhill since the 80s. American Gen X’ers and older can find places on maps. It’s everybody millennial and younger who can’t, b’cos our schools are busy teaching them not just CRT, but before that, usage of condoms, how to have sex, masturbating and so on
somehistory says
Absolutely right.
And when someone writes “most” before a statement, it is **most* likely wrong.
There are over 300 million people in America (the U.S. part). How many of these equal “most”?
In the old days, we studied geography and history and social studies…not anything like social media is…and we knew where countries were, what products they produced, etc. And those of us with memories, still can find Africa on a globe. And we can’t be fooled by two times two is five.
One of my very good doctors told me…”stay off the internet” …when I told him something I had read about my eye problems. It’s full of wrong stuff.
As in things added by the generation that knows mostly nothing.
gravenimage says
Somehistory, there are indeed Americans who can find Africa on a map–but I do not believe it is incorrect to say that most Americans are, sadly, deficient in geography. Study after study has confirmed this.
For instance, nearly three-quarters of eighth-graders tested below proficient in geography on the 2014 National Assessment of Educational Progress–and these were all essentially “open book” questions.
In an article in US News and World Report from 2015, just 24% of students rated competent, and 3% advanced. This has been unchanged for over twenty-five years.
somehistory says
“Most Americans,” that would include ****all**** groups and sub-groups, all ages, all students and non-students alike.
If you say “most” grade school kids don’t know geography, that might be true. Usually though, home-schooled kids are not included in the regular polls and surveys done to assess the knowledge of grade school kids.
In your comment, you mention two different groups of “students.”
“Most Americans” are not students. Most Americans don’t get asked if they know where Africa is or any other questions.
And in the “Water’s World” in the link, it was a bunch of young people on a beach that were being asked about wars, who fought, who won, etc.
Older people, as Infidel pointed out, do know about such things.
I don’t believe it helps to ever say “most” unless one knows that the number is actually “most” of whatever. And, I don’t believe that “most” Americans are still students in grade school.
The reality about public school is: the kids are not really expected to retain what they learn, even when they are taught a bunch of stuff.
gravenimage says
Somehistory, there are certainly groups in America who are well educated and knowledgeable–but clearly there are large numbers who are not. As for surveys like Watters, this has also been done at elite universities, where, one would hope, the group would be better educated–but the results have been pretty poor.
Here’s a good article:
https://www.jamesgmartin.center/2020/09/did-you-know-students-are-clueless-about-history/
Despite the title, this is not just about students.
gravenimage says
Very depressing, Bikinis not Burkas–but it does not surprise. Many Americans are woefully ignorant about their own history.
commonsense says
The Moorish Science Temple of America presumably served as the inspiration for the character of Valentin Narcisse in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, a black man who referred to himself and all other American blacks as “Libyans.” A most interesting character, indeed, in a series set in the 1920s.
gravenimage says
Yes–that’s exactly what that character was about.
