Radio Mekan reporter Amit Segal quoted United Arab List Member of Knesset Mazen Ghainem “in threats he made on the government.” Ghainem stated: “If the government hits Gaza [in response to Hamas firing on Israel, or any other offense], I will topple the government.”
Arab members of Israeli Knesset are nothing but trouble for the State of Israel. Also….
MK Walid Taha of the United Arab List has informed the government that his four-MK-strong party will no longer be voting in the Knesset, nor will it be participating in Knesset committee discussions, “until further notice.”
Arab MK’s are effectively pro-jihadist enemies operating from within Israel’s government. They have shown themselves to be too high a cost for Israel as a public demonstration of Israel’s “tolerance,” as they take advantage of their position to work to weaken the state of Israel. Arab MK’s openly support and advocate for the Palestinian jihad against Israel, all while Israel is still declared an “apartheid” state, despite allowing them to serve in Knesset. The Palestinians, on the other hand, would never allow a Jew, let alone an Israeli, serve in the government. In fact, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has declared that “not a single Israeli” will even be allowed to live in a future Palestinian state.
“Ra’am MK Mazen Ghainem: If Israel fires on Gaza, I’ll topple the government,” Israel National News, July 11, 2021:
MK Walid Taha of the United Arab List has informed the government that his four-MK-strong party will no longer be voting in the Knesset, nor will it be participating in Knesset committee discussions, “until further notice.”
It appears that the United Arab List (UAL) has been offended by overtures made by Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz to the predominantly Arab Joint List party, in attempt to garner their support in key Knesset votes and thus to free the coalition of dependency on the UAL and possibly eject the UAL from the government entirely.
Earlier on Sunday, Radio Mekan reporter Amit Segal quoted UAL MK Mazen Ghainem in threats he made on the government. “There’s no love lost between [UAL head] Mansour Abbas and the new government,” Ghainem said. “Bennett and Netanyahu? They’re both bad.”
Ghainem also alleged that “the entire Israeli media is mobilized in favor of the government.”…
Ghainem then issued a clear threat to the government: “If the government hits Gaza [in response to Hamas firing on Israel, or any other offense], I will topple the government.”

That’s treason

Fire all these muslim arabs from Knesset. it s crazy to have them there. They are there just because they want to destroy Israel
Frank Anderson says
I cannot imagine how a person who openly proclaims treason can be allowed to sit in the legislative body or in any governmental position. What does it take?
rooare says
Seems the west is hell bent on destroying itself giving these Islamists a pass on treasonous speech and actions.
Jillian says
I knew it. I don’t know why EVER trusted these terrorists in the government! Idiocy!
maria says
Never ever trust the muslim murderers. They have no other aim than destroy Israel, kill theJews and Christians and to rule the world

II think it’s called “Democracy”.
Frank Anderson says
One would think that service in a representative capacity in a democracy requires loyalty to the community. Calling for, and actively supporting the killing of citizens is hardly being loyal. Some would even consider that treason.

I didn’t get that out of the article unless it’s active objection to military action against Gaza to which you refer. I suspect that members of the UAL have never voted in favour of military action against Gaza so these comments hardly come as a surprise. Inviting the UAL into the coalition anticipated this position — or, at least, it should have been anticipated.
Frank Anderson says
R. threatening to bring down the government for action it takes in defense of all Israeli people, Jews and non-Jews alike, in the face of randomly fired weapons intended to kill or maim randomly targeted people is about as close to military action as I would need to call it treason. Article 3, Section 3 Clause 1 of the US Constitution, which does NOT apply in Israel, requires only that one give aid and comfort to an enemy OR making war on the country. To me, if the US law applied, this would be treason.
What would have been the response if a Representative or Senator in Congress when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, voted to reward Japan instead of declaring war?
Israel’s law must have its own rules, which may be different; but it would be hard to imagine being that different in the face of a group sworn to kill every Jew everywhere.

Good replies, Frank.

Thank you.

Hi Frank.
His opposition to any military action against Gaza was very predictable. As in any minority government (we get them very often in Canada and, in fact, have one now) it is commonplace for the party holding the balance of power to force concessions from the party in power with the constant threat of “bringing it down”. {Political blackmail if you wish. This sort of situation would be extremely rare under the U.S two party system and only a block of independents or some currently non-existent third party could cause it to happen.
In a Pearl Harbor situation the other political parties in Israel would certainly “Rally around the Flag” so his threat poses no real danger.
We’ll see how Israel deals with having Arabs in the government. It should be very interesting. Since Arabs comprise approximately 18% of the population it was only a matter of time. It’s a bit of a stretch to expect them to give the government a carte blanche to attack their “relatives”. I expect that it will be tested on a case by case basis.

BTW.
“Bringing down the government” would almost certainly put Bibi back in power and I doubt that he wants that.
gravenimage says
Rarely, your belief that Democracy calls for the violent overthrow of democratically-elected governments is mistaken. And that this should be done if the Democracy tries to defend her people from being murdered is even more bizarre.
Rarely says
How has he called for “the violent overthrow”?
gravenimage says
The threat to “topple the government” does not appear to be a peaceful threat.
Your impliction that he is actually saying he wants to put Netanyahu back in power is really odd.

“Toppling the government”, or the threat to do so, is a common ploy in countries with more than a 2 party system. It is not the call for an insurrection. It is simply the party with the balance of power using their power to push their agenda. Very common.
If the gov’t is brought down there is a decent possibility Bibi would win the ensuing election. Therefore, there is a bit of a stalemate here.
Infidel says
Prime Minister Bennett should quietly tell the ‘Joint List’ members that he’s not afraid of pulling down the government himself and switching sides to Likud in return for a guarantee of continuation as Prime Minister. While that itself may or may not happen, at least that will convince them that he’s not gonna be blackmailed. In fact, if he deals w/ Hamas just as strongly or even more than Bibi did, he could make a good case for Likud to support him over Bibi, given how damaged the latter is over the corruption issue
libertyORdeath says
I sure hope Israel treats this more seriously than the U.S. or Europe.
James Lincoln says
Makes me wonder why Ghainem didn’t make his threat prior to the most recent IDF’s 11 day Gaza / Hamas operation…
Infidel says
Bibi was still in power then
Keys says
Right on the money !
James Lincoln says
Infidel,
Right – got it…
Roland says
Would Ghainem actually pull the trigger as threatened? His party was offered a lot of “pork” to join the government.

Arab Member of Knesset: ‘If Israel fires on Gaza, I’ll topple the government’

Muslims in Israel–including in the Knesset–are mostly a deadly Fifth Column.

The Arabs probably think these Arabs in the parliament are simply token opposition figures with no political power. They are simply there as straw men, they create the illusion of freedom of thought and action in a democratic government. But in actuality, the Arabs cannot sway the government’s actions. They are like the Squad in Congress, Ilhan Omar denouncing Israel and the US government. But of course, dictatorships such as in Iran or China have very little patience with dissent. In fact, it is dangerous to disagree. Some dictatorships go so far as to use children to spy on their parents. We seem to be heading in this direction with the Democrats and their plans to use schools to spread their ideology. But they are not impressed by the facade of democracy in the West as they see it. Other dictators may tolerate disagreement on the level of the corner pub, as long as what is said in the pub stays in the pub. The question becomes critical when opposition takes on dangerous forms, such as the riots and statue toppling we saw in the last year. We used to think such things only happened in NS Germany or unenlightened Third World Countries, but there it is in our own rational, humanistic society. What to do?
