Why compulsory psychological treatment? Because Dutch authorities, like authorities everywhere else, cannot and will not face up to the reality of Islam’s teachings regarding warfare against unbelievers. So instead, they pretend that those who act in accord with those teachings are psychologically disturbed.
“Six years in prison for ISIS recruitment, propaganda over Telegram,” NL Times, June 29, 2021 (thanks to Henry):
The court in The Hague sentenced a 32-year-old woman from Uithoorn to six years in prison and compulsory psychological treatment for terrorism and war crimes. The woman was accused of being a follower of violent Salafist ideology and is said to have extensively distributed content in relation to the Islamic State via the social network Telegram in 2019.
The woman shared two videos in which prisoners of war were brutally murdered by members of IS, providing her own derogatory comments to the events. The woman was also found guilty of encouraging others to commit terrorist and war crimes. She trained herself and others to make explosive belts, and transferred money to persons involved in terrorist activities, the court said.
According to the court, the woman’s actions fit very well within the media strategy of the Islamic State. “As a result, she became part of this terrorist organization that is guilty of attacks in the world and that instills fear in the population,” the court said.
The woman suffers from a severe neurological disorder and a psychological impulse disorder. The public prosecutor previously demanded a three-year sentence for the woman, but the court disagreed and doubled the prison term….

It’s not psychological treatment she needs: may I suggest exposure ( compulsory) to a certain book about to be published.

There are several qualified professionals reading and writing here, not including me. I predict those who do read and write here understand the imperatives of islam. What are the possibilities that the professionals attempting to treat the “mental disease or defect” will see sooner or later the futility of their effort? How can one who is well qualified to deal with problems of the mind fail to understand that islam teaches exactly what the deliberately uninformed dismiss as mental illness?
Back to the great 9th Circuit case, Wyle v. R.J. Reynolds, “Deliberate ignorance constitutes knowledge of the truth.”

“What are the possibilities that the professionals attempting to treat the “mental disease or defect” will see sooner or later the futility of their effort?”
The mental health professionals will be “astonished” when their muslim patients repeat their Jihadi acts. “Maybe” at that point they will finally realize the futility of their efforts.
“How can one who is well qualified to deal with problems of the mind fail to understand that islam teaches exactly what the deliberately uninformed dismiss as mental illness?”
Mental health professionals, like a large percentage of Westerners, have learned a whitewashed version of islam – from the mainstream media and also from their training. Unfortunately, most do not know what islam actually teaches. This is not just sad – but incredibly dangerous!

Sadly that sounds about right, James.

James, a treasured friend for move than 20 years exploded when asked about his false impression of islam that he formed in Rabbinical school. He was convinced that islam was the “religion of peace”. I cannot understand what happened in his mind to the “Ask every question repeatedly” teaching that is central to Judaism. How many Jews will die because the same denial that delayed or prevented action in the first Holocaust is slowing or preventing action for the next?.
James Lincoln says
Frank,
There certainly are reasons – not good ones – as to why your “treasured friend for more than 20 years” exploded when asked about their false impression of islam.
It’s likely that your friend held those erroneous ideas about islam for a long time – and they were deeply ingrained.
It’s also likely that your disagreement with your friend was taken as a “personal attack” rather than a factual evidence-based and logical refutation of your friend’s understanding of islam.
Your friend’s immediate knee jerk-reaction would reaffirm to your friend that they’re still a “good” person.
Anyway, that’s my best guess…

James, that was what he was taught in “seminary” by a mislim professor. He never questioned the teaching in spite of witnessing all the muslim violence including a bombing while he was in Israel. Because he and I spoke almost weekly for more than 20 years, he had every reason to know of my friendship, as I knew of his for many reasons.
Recall one theme I spoke when I conducted my adopted mother’s funeral: “There are some things in this life we are not given to understand.”

Compulsory psychological treatment?
Well, I don’t want the “compulsory part” except for Muslims who have committed a violent crime in the name of their warped faith—and which is of course something occurring daily throughout the world.
But do I think EVERY Muslim should consider psychological treatment? Yes I do, for the reason being that while most Muslims are not themselves violent, they are nonetheless, every one of them, at least confused human beings, terribly so, and who adhere to a belief system which revels in violence of all sorts in its theory when it is “denied” what it wants.
Of course, the “weakest link” here is not Islam or its deluded followers. No, the weakest link here is the psychologist who probably will not realize that Islam, like modern Western Leftism, as with Marxism and Nazism, is a mental disorder, as is thinking there are 37 or 50 or 100 genders. Whatever.
A lot of mental disorders out there. Tons of them. Recognizing them is the first step and so many psychologists are part of the problem here and not a solution to so many problems.
Not being intimidated by the political correctness of our time is the second step that needs to be taken. Thereafter, reason, truth and common sense have a chance to succeed—but only a chance, no guarantee, because much of the human condition is pathetic or even worse than pathetic. Including many psychologists—easily so. Damn it, back to square one.

Netherlands: Muslima recruited for Islamic State, gets prison and compulsory psychological treatment
………………..
It might be that those handing out this sentence are in need of some psychological treatment themselves. Is “willful denial” recognized in the DSM?
Keys says
“Willful denial” is in the DSM in the section just before the TDS section – Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Technically she is prisoner of war with heavy dose of Islamic intoxication. Unfortunately, this premise will be dismissed at the very suggestion. So we can expect the authorities go in circles for forever with this lady.
If the authorities had any clue, they could have tried the Chinese method of dealing with Uighur terror, though even that may not be fool-proof.
Better still some Koran burning, flushing the koran pages in the loo, spitting on the koran and sundry similar methods can help them reduce some intoxication.
