Longtime Jihad Watch reader dumbledoresarmy sent this in, along with some apposite comments:
“A Brisbane-based Muslim man has just been arrested because of preparing to engage in jihad in Syria against the deemed-heretical Alawite government. The ABC report on that arrest surely sets some kind of record, in terms of dancing around the obvious. The reporter manages to get through the whole thing without once mentioning Islam; though the fact that the bloke in question was hanging out in **Saudi Arabia** for some time, rather gives things away…’It will be alleged the Brisbane group maintained a religiously motivated, violent extremist ideology.’ ‘Religiously motivated’, eh? And by what religion, pray do tell? Something says it wasn’t Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity or Judaism… so whatever could it possibly be??”
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is of course not alone. All the establishment media outlets all over the world have apparently made a decision to whitewash and obfuscate regarding the motivating ideology behind jihad terror. How this decision was reached, and by whom, and for what purpose, is unknown. It may just be peer-pressure, as Hillary Clinton recommended, and the weight of conformity. In any case, their unanimity on this is obvious.
“Man charged with terrorism offences,” by Emilie Gramenz, ABC.net.au, August 4, 2021 (thanks to dumbledoresarmy):
Counter-terrorism police have charged a 39-year-old man with preparation for foreign incursions, alleging he played a senior role in a Brisbane-based group that maintained a desire to travel to Syria to engage in hostile activities.
The charges were brought as part of an investigation by the Queensland Joint Counter Terrorism Team into the group.
It will be alleged the Brisbane group maintained a religiously motivated, violent extremist ideology.
The 39-year-old man was arrested in mid-July when he arrived at the Sydney International Airport from Saudi Arabia, where he had been since 2019.
He was arrested on a Queensland warrant by members of a counter-terrorism team in New South Wales, and underwent mandatory quarantine before being extradited to Queensland this week.
He has been charged with preparations for incursions into foreign states for purpose of engaging in hostile activities, an offence that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail if convicted.
Police will allege he was a “founding senior figure” in an organisation involved in providing financial aid to people, and that he subsequently left Australia to participate in the Syrian civil war with the group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham – a militant group opposed to Syrian government forces….

Kath Barnes, the police chief of Counter Terrorism South East in UK, knows what it is:
“distorted ideology”.
Queensland take note.

The world is slowly waking up to religiously-motivated-violent-extremism and which “religion” is responsible for it. Luckily they didn’t say a mentally deranged person was planning to do jihad in Syria ! May be, the term mentally deranged person is likely to come up during trial.
If jihad-minded Muslims are “mentally deranged” what are elites and authorities of the West who enable jihad terror? mentally incapacitated?

It’s unfortunate that the ABC is being hauled through the court system for accurately reporting on a few other issues, including government corruption and rapes/ sexual assaults in parliament house in Canberra.
So now a lot of the reporters a more than a little gun shy about how they report anything of national importance.
We only have to look at the federal police raids on the ABC offices and a female reporter who did a story on a whistle blower.
Scary stuff! Would put the links in, but my computer skills are worse than Fred Flintstone.

I am one of many conservative Australians who would never go near the ABC, our version of the BBC and nothing but a left wing propaganda outfit, at all. I have never watched or listened to the bullshit from the ABC for close to 25 years. I do hear comments from some fairly conservative commentators about the latest garbage from the ABC, which keeps me informed, but I would not waste my time going near the “news” reporting of the ABC propagandists. Life is too short to waste time on its crap. I do very occasionally listen to the ABC sports commentary on Rugby League matches, and they have pretty good commentators, but that is it. On political issues, the socialist collective at the ABC spend all their time trying to criticise and damage and drag Australia down. The ABC costs Australian taxpayers over a billion dollars a year and there are many people who would love to see the whole thing closed down.

OK. Time to trot out the usual excuses:
That’s not the true Islam.
That’s not what the Quran teaches.
He was misled.
He was misunderstood.
He has a mental illness
Islam is a religion of peace.
He was misquoted.
There is no evidence pointing to Islam.
There appears to be/is no (apparent) motive.
He is suffering religious delusions.
Islam does not allow indiscriminate killing.
This usually ends with the classic, deliberately deceitful, misquote, from Surah 5, Aya 32.

Australian Broadcasting Corp.: a ‘man’ has ‘maintained a religiously motivated, violent extremist ideology’
………….
Really? A teed-off Seventh Day Adventist? A peeved Zen Buddhist? An irked Hasid? Let’s guess not…But the ABC has to shield the nature of the actual perp as much as possible. Of course, this hardly just happens in Australia.
And good to hear from Dumbledore’s Army. I miss her savvy posts here.

It is almost always going to be a Muslim, gravenimage, and yet there are so many reports on TV and radio where they won’t mention Muslim. I’m sure that we have never had a terrorist act committed by a Buddhist here in Australia, none by Christians as far as I can remember. On the man in this report, I heard on the radio this morning that he is facing a possible 10 years in jail, so that would be a good result, though not enough. The ABC is an organisation full of left wingers so they run a protection racket for islam, as all left wingers seem to do. The ABC is full of people, the usual Marxist types, who tend to hate the western, free enterprise system so the Muslims, who also hate the western world, are their allies.

Thanks for the +1, gravenimage. I’m pretty sure that these government run broadcasting corporations, such as the BBC and ABC, probably the CBC, the Canadian one, would all be a magnet for left wing people and they have a kind of closed shop set-up where no conservatives are welcomed. The mob at the ABC do seem to try to run Australia down constantly and say how terrible it is (you know, racist, etc, blah blah). That is only from what i hear from commentators because I haven’t wasted my time on any of its crap for over 20 years.

ASIO (Australian Security Intelligence Organisation) decided to change all reference to “Islamic Jihad Terrorism”, to “religiously motivated, violent extremist ideology” because of the push by the USA to fall in line with their new terminology….Donald Trump called it exactly what is was “islamic Jihad Terrorism” and the new administration caved in to pressure from CAIR, that was upset that the old term was giving people a bad impression of Islam. Muslims around the world who commit “islamic jihad terrorism” does not give people a bad impression of Islam….apparently. It’s the correct naming of it which is giving people the bad impression….apparently. The world has gone nuts!
gravenimage says
Grimly this is true:
“ASIO’s Director-General Mike Burgess has announced that ASIO isn’t going to use words connected with Islam when talking about Islamist terrorism…
“ASIO will now use the terms ‘religiously motivated violent extremism'”
