This Guardian story notes that “in Somalia, an estimated 98% of women and girls are genitally mutilated, most before the age of 10,” but it doesn’t explain why. We are constantly told the opposite by propagandists in the West, but the reality is that female genital mutilation (FGM) is justified in Islamic law. It is practiced by some non-Muslims, but only in majority-Muslim areas where the influence of Islamic culture, mores and law is all-pervasive.
“It is a religious thing. Do you want to change religion?” said one Egyptian in response to a campaign to eradicate female genital mutilation. “You only listen to what the West is saying.”
The establishment media ignores the fact that FGM is mandated in Islamic law: “Circumcision is obligatory (for every male and female) (by cutting off the piece of skin on the glans of the penis of the male, but circumcision of the female is by cutting out the bazr ‘clitoris’ [this is called khufaadh ‘female circumcision’]).” — Umdat al-Salik e4.3, translated by Mark Durie, The Third Choice, p. 64
Why is it obligatory? Because Muhammad is held to have said so: “Abu al- Malih ibn Usama’s father relates that the Prophet said: ‘Circumcision is a law for men and a preservation of honour for women.’” — Ahmad Ibn Hanbal 5:75
“Narrated Umm Atiyyah al-Ansariyyah: A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: ‘Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.’” — Abu Dawud 41:5251
That hadith is classified as weak, but this one is classified as sahih (reliable): “Aishah narrated: ‘When the circumcised meets the circumcised, then indeed Ghusl is required. Myself and Allah’s Messenger did that, so we performed Ghusl.’” — Jami` at-Tirmidhi 108
If Muhammad had the genitals of his favorite wife, Aisha, mutilated, that is a strong endorsement of the practice from the man who is an “excellent example” (Qur’an 33:21) for Muslims.
Why does it matter whether or not FGM is Islamic? Because the practice will never be eradicated if its root causes are not confronted. As long as those Muslims continue to believe that Allah and Muhammad want it done, for some that will override all other considerations, in Somalia and everywhere else.
“Death of 13-year-old girl sparks calls for action on FGM in Somalia,” by Hassan Abdirahman and Lizzy Davies, Guardian, July 21, 2021:
A 13-year-old girl has died after undergoing female genital mutilation (FGM) in Somalia, as activists report a rise in the practice during the pandemic.
Fartun Hassan Ahmed, the daughter of nomadic pastoralists, bled to death after being cut earlier this month in the village of Jeerinle in the state of Galmudug, her mother said.
Activists believe it is the first reported case of an FGM fatality in Somalia since the death of 10-year-old Deeqa Dahir Nuur in 2018. With one of the highest rates of cutting in the world, the east African country has no national law against the practice.
“We looked for a car [to take her to hospital] but it could not reach us in time … We didn’t know what to do. Later we found a car but she was already dead when it arrived,” said Fartun’s mother, Nadifo Fartun. She said she stayed with her daughter as she bled from the early morning, when she was cut, until she died at about 4pm.
Fartun suffered FGM at the hands of a traditional cutter, who also works as a local birth attendant and who cut Fartun’s nine-year-old sister before her, the Guardian was told.
Her father, Hassan Ahmed, a goat herder, who is blind, said his daughter had been a hard worker and had helped to guide him. “She used to do everything for me … She helped and cooked for me, and took care of the animals when I was resting,” he said.
“We reached the decision because we wanted the girl to be circumcised … When the mother suggested the cutting, I did not object.”
Her parents said they regretted their decision. The Global Media Campaign, which funds activists to campaign against FGM, contacted local police about Fartun’s death and were told the family had been called for interviews, but no one had been arrested.
“But we will investigate further,” said Aidarus Ahmed, a spokesperson. “It is the first time that such an incident has happened in the village. The federal police have a plan to raise awareness of such issues.”
Naimah Hassan, programme director of the Global Media Campaign, said: “On [11 July], it was Fartun who bled to death after FGM, and in the next village east of Jeerinle, another 20 girls were mutilated. We have no idea of how many young girls are dying because of FGM; what we do know is that a girl is cut every six seconds … and this horror must stop.”
In Somalia, an estimated 98% of women and girls are genitally mutilated, most before the age of 10.
With Covid restrictions closing schools and reducing outreach work by campaigners, cases of FGM are thought to have risen during the pandemic. The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) has warned that 2m additional cases may occur globally over the next decade as a result….

FGM is a COMPULSORY practice in Islam, rather than an option. Mohammed ordered it and so does Sharia law. Anyone who says otherwise is lying to us.
Keith O says
Mortimer, Genital mutilation should be compulsory,,,,,,,,,for the male mudslimes!
Perhaps they should start with their gonads and see how they like it.
There shouldn’t be any complaints, remember islam is the epitome of equality!

Damn good idea Keith

Circumcision is a practice God gave Abraham to be done on males as a sign of the Covenant God made with him (Gen 17:9-14). It was NEVER EVER commanded by God to be done on females. Abraham NEVER EVER did this on females. This again shows that Islam does not even respect Abraham nor has anything to do with Abraham. It exposes Islamic doctrine as false and that Allah and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are not the same.
Mohamed said you can lie (Taqiya) and enjoy the fruits of lying, while Jesus said the opposite. Again, Islamic doctrine is exposed as false (anti-Christ). Even common sense would tell you that.
Hopefully this lights a bulb in the head of people that follow Islamic doctrine.

Unfortunately we have allowed this disgusting practice into the west and despite some attempts no-one has been convicted of the physical abuse of young girls. There are hundreds of these crimes committed every year in Europe and America and yet the perpertrators are allowed to go free. Our leaders should be ashamed.

Somalia: 13-year-old girl dies after female genital mutilation
…………..
This *poor young girl*. God, I hate Islam.
Anti-Jihadist ex-Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali was mutilated as a child in Somalia, as was her younger sister. As bad as it was for her, it was worse for her sister, who suffered pain her entire life and died young.
LR says
If I remember correctly her sister committed suicide.
Ayaan is doing wonderful work through her, “AHA” organization to stop FGM, and child marriage here in the states.

Yes.
Walter Sieruk says
FGM is a brutal, cruel malicious Muslim tradition based on the hideous misogyny of Islam.
LR says
Heartbreaking. Such barbarity in the 21st Century.
mjazz says
The most common form of female genital mutilation (FGM) or female genital cutting (FGC) practiced in Somalia is Type III (commonly referred to as infibulation).
Type III is the excision (removal) of part or all of the external genitalia (clitoris, labia minora and labia majora) and stitching or narrowing of the vaginal opening, leaving a very small opening, about the size of a matchstick, to allow for the flow of urine and menstrual blood. The girl or woman’s legs are generally bound together from the hip to the ankle so she remains immobile for approximately 40 days to allow for the formation of scar tissue.

Yes–this is the most harmful form of FGM, and that is saying a lot.
The woman actually has to be *cut open* to have sex–and infibulation makes giving birth terribly painful and hazardous. Fistulas (ripping in the vagina or anus) and infections are rife.
