Update #1 | 11:30 AM (California Time): Initial reports are coming in of a shooting at the Chabad Shul of Poway, near San Diego, California, on Saturday.

Four people are reported to have been shot, including, Chabad Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein and two children.

The victims were taken to Palomar Medical Center.

Reports say the shooter has been arrested.

Update #2 | 12:08 PM (California Time): 4 victims were taken to the hospital: At the moment, believed to be 2 children, an elderly man, and the rabbi of the shul.

UPDATE #3 Witnesses say the #Poway shooter was wearing a tactical vest and a tactical helmet when he entered the Chabad synagogue and opened fire. He was arrested by police who believe he was acting alone.

Update #4 One woman has been killed, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s office. Two more adults, and a girl were wounded in the attack. A 19-year-old male was arrested in connection to the shooting.

One older woman succumbed to her wounds shortly after reaching the hospital. She was identified as Lori Gilbert Kaye, “a beloved member of Chabad of Poway congregation for many years.”

The girl has been identified as Noya Dahan, whose family had moved to San Diego from Sderot, Israel, to get away from terrorism. The second man has been identified as Alon Peretz, Noya’s uncle, visiting from Sderot for Passover.

This attack comes exactly six months after the Pittsburgh attack at the Tree of Life synagogue on October 27, 2019, in which 18 people were shot, and 11 of the victims were killed.
