In his latest address full of falsehoods, Joe Biden falsely claimed that, “the evacuation of thousands of people from Kabul is going to be hard and painful no matter when we started; when we began.”
The evacuation did not have to take place with thousands of Americans trapped behind Taliban lines.
It did not have to happen with the Taliban in control of Kabul and surrounding the airport.
A withdrawal was possible along with an evacuation that did not take place under these catastrophic circumstances. That’s entirely on Biden.
Biden keeps dishonestly pivoting away from the specifics to generalities about the need for a withdrawal. The majority of Americans agreed with a withdrawal. That doesn’t mean that they signed on the dotted line for a disaster in which Americans end up in enemy territory.
There was one single fault at issue here.
Any responsible country evacuates civilians before the military. Biden chose to do it the wrong way around for a number of reasons. And then he was slow to react when things began going wrong.
Had the United States evacuated all American civilians, the airport would no doubt have been crowded with Afghans, but it would have been possible to get Americans out. The fall of Kabul (and the surrender of Bagram Air Base) left few options. Mostly bad ones. And Biden decided to adopt the worst of them by outsourcing airport access to the Taliban.
“I think, that history is going to record this was the logical, rational, and right decision to make,” Biden insisted.
I doubt anyone in history (even those Democrat historians who rank Obama higher than George Washington) is going to look at these scenes out of Kabul and claim that Biden’s decision to evacuate the military before civilians was logical, rational, or right.

I am seriously beginning to believe that part of the “vetting-selection-here’s how to get to the airport” process for Americans still left in Kabul (never mine those strewn throughout the rest of the country) is also a determination of their voter registration, i.e., Democrat OK, Trump supporters sorry you’re on your own. They certainly have the technology to surreptitiously make that determination…

owensgate, do you have any citations to back up this claim?

Not a one… It just seems like a sleezy enough idea that they would consider it. After all, “Democrat voters and how to get more of them”, is job# 1 for them to retain power. Everything they do proves this.

When seemingly grossly perverse decisions are made by those in authority, we might be tempted to consider an ulterior motive, e.g. bribery, blackmail, etc.
But, of course, this line of thought falls flat on its face when we consider the indisputably high moral standing of the Most Popular President In History, the current incumbent.
Oh well, back to the old drawing board…

Wellington says
Biden, who almost certainly won the American Presidency fraudulently, is increasingly appearing as one of the greatest disasters and mistakes in all of American history. He is not only responsible for this, but so is his family who had to know he was descending cognitively as the Democratic Party en masse surely also knew.
But inveterate and mindless hatred of Trump, combined with an EXTREMELY weak field of Democratic Presidential candidates in 2020 (Tulsi Gabbard would be, arguably, the only semi-exception), combined with deceptively passing off Biden as a moderate, all for the purpose of defeating a man who accomplished so much (examples being making NATO nations pay more, being the only leader in the world to take on China over its tariff policies and currency manipulation, redoing NAFTA with the USMCA—a much better deal for the American worker, moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, something many President promised to do but did not, putting more sanctions on Russia than any President since Ronald Reagan, almost entirely eradicating ISIS which Obama, stupidly, called a “JV player,” killing Solem Kassemeini and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, banning flights from 9 rouge nations, 7 of which were Muslim, and for which Trump was called a bigot, banning flights from China on 1/31/2020 which almost certainly saved thousands of American lives even though that pathological liar and doofus, one Anthony Fauci, said almost three weeks later on 2/17/2020 that that the corona virus was, and I quote, “a miniscule matter,” reconstructing our military after Obama gutted it, going to great lengths to protect our southern border even though called a racist for doing so and which border thanks to Biden is now in a shambles, reducing black-American unemployment to its lowest level in American history, dealing effectively with the psycho regime which is North Korea, providing more funding to VA hospitals, ensuring tax cuts for 83% of Americans, et al.) was more important to creeps like Pelosi and Schumer than ever allowing Donald Trump a second term.
Conclusion: Biden is fading fast. His family is beyond retrograde (Hunter Biden alone is the dirt-bag of dirt-bags and Jill Biden is an extraordinarily silly and selfish woman). We are now led by fools, for instance Blinken at State and Milley as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, never mind the witch who is currently Speaker of the House.
Huge trouble ahead. Much. Count on it. And thank you again all you fools out there who ACTUALLY voted for Biden—this would be minus all the bogus votes. You should all hang your head in shame, but the vast majority of you won’t so stupid and foolish are you to this day, in part because you suffered from TDS—Trump Derangement Syndrome. Shame on you forever. Silly people you are and you make me sick. You bear a major part of the responsibility for supporting a man with dementia doing horrible things and presently ruining America. I don’t relieve you of responsibility unless you have fully realized the enormous harm you have done—and perhaps not even then. Utter fools all of you and major penance is due—you betcha’.
tim gallagher says
Wellington, good summary of the very unfortunate situation with the Biden administration in charge and Trump’s many achievements. Biden himself is far gone into dementia, and he is surely just wheeled out by the handlers who run things and make decisions. So, to be making decisions as dumb as telling the Taliban the exact date at the end of August when they were pulling out of Afghanistan, the whole team that run Biden’s decisions must be almost as stupid as Biden himself is. Biden has the excuse of having fairly advanced dementia, but what the hell is wrong with his dopey handlers? How do such incompetents reach such high up positions?
Wellington says
“How do such incompetents reach such high up positions?”
Excellent question, tim gallagher, but if we knew the correct answer to this pertinent query of yours I don’t think the West would be in the perilous condition it is today.
I suspect, though, that it is a combination of inordinate ambition existent in utter mediocrities or worse and aided by corruption of one kind or another—Biden’s entire political career comes to mind as an example (and so does his family). Yes, mega ambition, plus extensive ignorance of one kind or another, infused with graft, is never a winning recipe for any society.
I mean the fact that certain Eastern European leaders are effectively the only ones (after Trump and the previous Pope, Benedict XVI) asking the right questions and doing the right things is itself dispositive of just how far most of the West has fallen. There are sundry reasons why—and I don’t think I need to list them again because someone like you knows them only too well—but all such reasons are stupid, insipid, horribly self-serving and even suicidal.
The descent of the West continues. For no good reason. Madness—and Joe Biden could quite adequately serve as the “poster boy” of this madness.
You know, if truth finally prevails (a big “if), a person like Biden has to be put right up there with the Chamberlains and Daladiers—easily so. Time for a beer.
tim gallagher says
Thanks for the reply, Wellington. Enjoy your beer. I have occasionally heard comments that Obama has quite an influence, behind the scenes, on the Biden administrations’ decisions. Do you think that that would be the case? I suppose that, since Biden was his Vice President, Obama would have a pretty close relationship with Biden. The Biden administration is a huge worry for the whole world. The thuggish Chinese regime and probably Russia as well, along with the Muslim enemy in many countries, would be recognising a weakness that can be exploited. I agree that the West seems in trouble. There are too many people in western countries that have that self loathing and see western civilisation as evil rather than recognising its great achievements.
Wellington says
On the very specific matter, tg, of what did Obama know and what he knows now and how much influence he has, I think Obama from 2014 onwards himself concluded that Biden was mentally failing. From 2009-2014 Biden as Vice-President had much to do, but from 2014-2107 he was almost out of the “picture.” This was Obama’s doing and for good reason.
This helps explain both why Obama limited Biden appearances in the last two to three years of his Presidency and also why he was so very late in endorsing Biden in the 2020 Presidential race (it is my conviction that the 2020 Presidential Democratic candidates were so piss-poor, with the exception of Gabbard, that Obama couldn’t do anything but remain silent until silence was no longer an option).
Finally, Obama had no choice but to endorse Biden once the Democratic Party made the cynical calculation that Biden, doofus that he has always been, was still the best bet among all Democratic candidates to pass off as a “moderate”—a total lie but then so was Trump colluding with Russia in 2016 or being impeached over a phone call to the Ukrainian President, the transcript of which President Trump himself released. Hatred of Trump was paramount.
So, Obama endorsed Biden (barely) and now is with such people like Klain and Rice controlling him behind the scenes. Biden truly is a puppet President, the first (and hopefully last) in American history. Compounding all this is that Kamala Harris is disliked by almost everyone, including a large majority of Democrats, and so what to “do with her” is an added problem. Obama would have far preferred Susan Rice to Harris but Rice is such a compromised person herself (examples being her “advice” during the 1994 Rwanda massacres and her outright lying about the Benghazi fiasco) that even Obama and his minions dared not risk her being put forth as VP and so the monumental Noting which is Harris was chosen.
America and the West—and by extension most of the world—is extra effed up right now due to Biden and Harris, both abominations but in different ways. Will be interesting to see what follows. I suspect nothing good. How could I conclude otherwise? Hope this helps an Aussie like yourself to further understand just how wretched the present American political scene truly is, complicated all the more because at least 100 million Americans, including yours truly, think the 2020 American Presidential race was stolen from Trump.
Matters very fluid. You betcha’.
tim gallagher says
Fantastic explanation of the ins and outs of it all, Wellington. Thanks very much for that. I heard just recently that no one among the Democrats likes Harris much. I can’t recall who it was that mentioned it, but it was definitely someone on Sky News TV here in Australia. where you can get a decent, non-leftist point of view. It was a discussion about whether they might get rid of Biden, because of his dementia and a commentator did say that they would probably like to except that Harris is so disliked. American politics does seem to be a mess these days. It is very bad news for the whole world. We all just have to battle on and hope for better times to come. Although Biden is just a man they wheel out to say what his handlers tell him to say, it is embarrassing watching him being continually so confused and lost when he tries to explain things and loses track completely. I can’t recall ever having seen anyone like him in a major political position in any country

Well, if the “woke” variety of historian is writing the book, of course biden will be a hero of immense proportions.
A few things seen today:
One was a video of biden talking about what he told his daughters and grand daughters about being able to do anything a man can do, speaking about his vp…”in Asia working for him”, and soon “we’ll have presidents,”….Sounded as though he’s getting ready to hand over the chair in the WH to the laughing fool.
The second thing: The Navy Seal who took out bin laden said if he had 9 guys, he could go in and bring out all of the Americans still in afghanistan.
Head of the CIA is meeting with a big shot from the taliban…talking about extending the “deadline” and the taliban saying that extending the dead line, crosses the “red line.”
:There will be consequences.” So say the taliban.
Wellington says
Red line, somehistory? Well, when the Taliban threaten about a red line, I will take these barbarians at their word. But when Obama and his ilk (way too much “ilk” out there at present here in America and the West) threaten about a red line, I will dismiss them forthwith because way down they are wimps, all smoke and mirrors.
Yeah, just imagine if the West had had to count on Obama, Biden and Johnson types to win WWII. I rest my case.
somehistory says
Yes, Wellington, I believe they mean “blood red.” They don’t lie when they say what their bloody intentions are.
Wellington says
Agreed, somehistory. Best to take barbarians seriously and assume they mean what they say. This was Churchill’s point about Hitler in the 1930’s during his political wilderness years.
So many did not listen to Churchill. But they should have.
Yes, always assume the barbarian is being honest when asserting their rot. Better this way, by far, respecting where the preservation of civilization is concerned.

Yes–I just heard the Taliban this morning threatening us if the US isn’t gone by the “deadline”. I’m sure our leaving hostages behind will be fine with them, though…
CogitoErgoSum says
We should offer the Taliban a deal that if they let all U.S. citizens go without harm we will give them Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We would probably have to throw in a few billion dollars to boot before they would accept but maybe they would. Nah ….. Biden is too valuable to them where he is.

The Afghanistan Evacuation Didn’t Have To Be Hard. Biden Made It So.
…………….
Agree that it sure as hell didn’t ahve to be *this* hard. I have said before that civilians should have been evacuated first–this is standard procedure. And the US should have hung on to Bagram Air Force Base–far more defensible than Kabul airport. And initially relying on the “Afghan army” to defend the airport was just laubhable.
Randy Rogers says
“In 1975, President Ford was left to handle the difficult end of the Vietnam War. President Ford went to Congress seeking an aid package to allow the evacuation of American personnel and our allies.
However, there was ONE US SENATOR who opposed such support. The result was the hasty and embarrassing evacuation of the roof of the American embassy in Saigon.
This senator reveled in the shame and did everything he could to leverage it politically against Ford. Despite the efforts of this US senator, President Ford managed to rescue 1,500 allies from South Vietnam before the fall of the country.
If President Ford had not acted quickly, these people would have been attacked and killed for their support of the United States. When they arrived in the United States, President Ford asked Congress for a package to help these refugees integrate into American society.
Instead, President Ford had to recruit Christian organizations to volunteer assistance. In doing so, the Senator disparaged those efforts. Who would want to play politics with the welfare of innocent people who supported the United States in the tragic Vietnam War”.
WHICH SENATOR WAS IT? –

I have a question on just who are these American civilians that went into a war zone? Didn’t they know the risk of being in Afghanistan and what they where exposing themselves too. Are they military contractors who’s company has a responsibility to get them out also. From what I have seen on TV news most of the people being evacuated appear to be elderly people, women and children that look like Afghan citizens.
The Biden Administration totally failed to control the evacuation and removing of our military equipment from Afghanistan. As a tax payer I’am totally pissed that my tax dollars just supplied the Taliban with the latest military arms and equipment.
