The Book Boyfriend

Rate this book
After Callie's debut romance novel is an unexpected hit, she thinks nothing can surprise her—until the man of her dreams seems to walk out of the book and into her life.

The last thing Callie Richardson expected was her debut romance novel, Ready to Fall, to top the charts. Nor did she think her readers would become obsessive over her book's hero, Hudson Newman.

Life couldn't get any stranger. But then her assistant announces that Hudson Newman wants to see her. She's convinced her best friend is playing a joke on her, because no one in her office knows she's written a book. Plus, the name is fictional, a mashup of famous actors.

So when the stunning man steps into her office, she thinks she must be dreaming. Except this Hudson Newman wears a scowl rather than a model-worthy smile. After confirming his name is in fact the same as her character's, he proceeds to tell Callie that her book's success has turned his orderly world upside down.

Not only that, but her readers have set out to make Hudson the hero of their hoped-for romances. After weeks of receiving gifts—from candy to lingerie to things that make Callie blush—Hudson has had enough and tells Callie she needs to get her overzealous fans off his back. He smiles smugly and gives her two choices—delist the book or date him.

That was the moment Callie found herself in a fake relationship with a real-life book boyfriend.

The premise sounded interesting, but I only really enjoyed the first few chapters. The rest of the story was a bit boring and I didn't click with the writing style. The MCs and their relationship were somewhere between bland and sappy and the dialogues often sounded unnatural. I might have rounded up my rating if it hadn't been for the conflict towards the end of the story and the way it was resolved.

This is the first time I've read this author and this was a sweet, clean, heartfelt romance.

"Hudson leaned down and cupped her cheek with his large, warm palm. Callie's nerves sparked to life. She'd never felt such a connection before."

When Callie Richardson finally plucks up the courage - with much cajoling from her bestie - to publish her first novel, never in her wildest dreams did she expect it to become a bestselling hit. Nor did she expect her dream hero to materialise in the flesh.

"He couldn't remember the last time a woman had that effect on him. If he had to guess, it would be never."

Hudson Newman's well-ordered life is thrown into disarray when he's no longer able to go to his favourite shop due to trending on social media, and he is inundated with a multitude of inappropriate gifts from strange women. When he confronts the author, his plans to get her to delist her novel are derailed when he finds himself demanding that they embark on a fake relationship to save him from unwanted female attention. Neither is looking for a relationship and neither is expecting love to come knocking.

"You make me feel things that I've never even considered letting myself feel. Want things I didn't know I wanted. I can see a future with you."

This was an entertaining read as we follow Callie and Hudson's fake-to-real relationship. Hudson is pretty swoonworthy and is a perfect male specimen. He's hardworking, successful, and a doting uncle. Callie is equally hardworking but also very guarded with her heart. She had her reasons for shying away from relationships but, seriously, no woman could resist Hudson Newman for long! This was a fun read - different from my usual - but enjoyable nonetheless.

Carina has once again written wonderful characters, a great story and yes gave me another swoon worthy book boyfriend in Hudson.
Callie Richardson is on the cusp of publishing her debut romance novel. All the names that she has used are fictitious including she herself using a pen name. Now what happens when the name you chose for your handsome hero is a real life man in the city that you live? Things are about to get interesting for Callie when he leaps off the pages and right into her office.
Hudson Newman is a successful business man, no time for relationships and enjoys his privacy. That all comes to a screeching halt when his good name becomes associated and linked to a romance character. Now he is receiving gifts of letters , underwear, proposals and yes his privacy has taken a leap out the window.
He now must track down the author and have her set this straight. Although when he meets Callie he has a light bulb moment and decides that she should not take the book down but take him off the figurative market and play his girlfriend !
I fell in love with Callie, Hudson, their story and their adventure. They are funny, have great banter, have the chemistry that I love in a couple and yes they have that good old fashion romance that we all need in a romance and a book boyfriend.

A week is long enough to be on the receiving end of attention from fans that aren't even his, so Hudson decides confronting the object of his misery is the right thing to do. He wasn't expecting to find the author that (gasp!) used his name in her debut romance novel to be so beautiful. And Callie certainly wasn't expecting a grumpy looking hottie to come into her office demanding she either delist her new novel, or pretend to be his girlfriend. And neither was expecting to fall in love. Unfortunately, Callie's got even more demons and fear than Hudson, so this pair will have a hard road ahead of them if they want one of those HEAs romances are so fond of.

This is a sweet story and I loved Hudson. I may have wanted to smack Callie a time or two at the end when she let her fear get the best of her, but I could see where she was coming from. She and Hudson are an adorable couple - I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author now.

This was an awesome stand alone romance between a brand new author, Callie who loves Rock Hudson and Paul Newman and combining that name comes up with her hot, book boyfriend, named Hudson Newman. She also has a best friend who is in PR and so her friend ends up creating a sensation for her new book and so the world starts googling the book boyfriend and it leads them to hottie, in real life Hudson Newman.

When he starts getting offers and gifts from women who want to win his heart, he decides something must be done and it brings him into Callie's world where she discovers her fake character shares a name with this man who needs saving from women who want to help him find love.

So he devises a plan and thats when the fun really begins in this story. Hudson is not perfect but he is a very romantic and sweet guy and I adored his relationship with Callie. They also become best friends and are so cute and adorable together that I swooned for their relationship.

If you are looking for a fun read with just kissing and anything else happening behind closed doors then you will love this sweet romance. Hudson is the perfect guy for Callie and I loved his family so much. It is a romance that will just make you feel awesome and is a wonderful, light read filled with romance.

What a wonderful read!

This is my first book by miss Carina Rose, and I absolutely loved it. The writing is amazing, and so addictive. I really have nothing bad to say or anything I want to complain about. It was just that good!

The Book Boyfriend tells the story of Callie, who decides to finally release her first book to the world, after being persuaded by her friend Gina. Her book, Ready to Fall, tells the story of Hudson Newman, a bachelor ready to finally find love. Her book does so well, better than she could ever imagine or dream about. Every one seems to love it as much as she does, until a certain Hudson Newman ends up in her office one day, and asks her to take the book down, due to the uncomfortable situation it has put him in. Either she takes the book down or she pretends she's his girlfriend...

What I loved about this book:
• sweet caring hero
• fake relationship
• strong female lead
• loving family
• sweet romance

This book was capital letters "SWOON-WORTHY".
I can't remember the last time I read such a laidback sweet romance, with no drama or angst whatsoever, that I really enjoyed.
I'll definitely be reading more of miss Carina Rose.

This isn't the first Carina Rose book I've read, and it most definitely won't be the last. Carina writes such beautifully well-written romantic tales, and The Book Boyfriend is no different. Pages in, I became completely invested in Hudson and Callie's stories, both individually and combined. The story is unique, captivating, and so very romantic.

It all began with a fictitious character name that Callie created in her head. But to have Hudson Newman walk right off the pages of her debut novel and right into her life seemed like a prank played out by her best friend. Only, he was very real, and very annoyed that her book disrupted his organized life. Things most definitely happen for a reason, and to learn what the universe has in store for Hudson and Callie is such a fun journey. By the way, I have claimed Hudson. #SorryNotSorry.

If you love sweet romances, do yourself a favor and one-click this book immediately. And while you're at it, sign up for Carina's newsletter at www.carinarosebooks, because you won't want to miss any new releases that come our way. Trust me.

Callie and Hudson's journey pulled me in right from the start! I really enjoyed the unique way these two were brought together and the chemistry between them. I wasn't sure how everything was going to go for them and that got me into their story even more. I loved how their story brought out so many feels throughout!

With The Book Boyfriend, Ms.Rose has created such a good read with feels that will get your attention right away! I am so looking forward to picking up more of her work in the near future!

The Book Boyfriend is so unique and creative and fun!! I simply loved it!! Callie and Hudson meet because of unusual circumstances- his real name being the name of the hero in her book by coincidence. He’s not happy about all the attention he gets because of it and he wants it to stop. So he proposes they date to get the fans off his back. What ensues is fantastic. The banter is on point, they have a true connection, and it will make you smile and swoon.

Carina really outdid herself. This story is romantic and fun. Yes I know I said it’s fun already but it really is. I just loved everything about it!

A must read!

I adored this "meet cute" with a BIG twist! Plus author Carina Rose seamlessly melded the real world and the simultaneous book world. It wasn't easy for Callie and Hudson to get their HEA, but it provided this reader with great joy following their path.

Sweet, cliché romance.
Too predictable as it's based on trope(fake dating to real love).
But it's simplicity did made it quite good. A quick read... Can't say you will love it but you won't hate it either.

From the sweet cover to the intriguing synopsis, Carina Rose delivers a swoon worthy right out-of-a romance-novel story in her latest release, The Book Boyfriend. This entertaining and witty romance is a must-read!

At the beginning of the story we get to meet twenty-nine year old Callie Richardson, who works in the membership department at Shadow Oaks Country Club. Although working at one of the most exclusive clubs in Virginia keeps her busy, Callie has managed to finish writing her debut novel, Ready to Fall. Despite believing that marriage isn’t for everyone, she wants to give her character that moment, even if she doesn’t want that for herself.

It’s her encouraging friend, Gina, that helps Callie make her book a success by becoming her agent. By sending copies of the book to bloggers and influencers, the book quickly gains attention and it becomes a hit. Everyone is buzzing about its main character, Hudson Newman and everyone wants this hero as their book boyfriend. Until she gets an unexpected surprise when the real Hudson Newman makes her a visit demanding to take delist the book as it has turned his life upside down. He is attractive and so much like her character that people think that her character is based on him. Hudson wants to go back to his life and to do that he gives her two choices, to delist the book or date him. Callie has worked so hard to finish the book and she refuses to delist it, giving her no choice but to fake-date him until women get off his back. Yet, she wasn’t expecting to like the real Hudson Newman so much and soon her life begins to change. He wants more than she is willing to give and she is not sure if she is meant to have a happy ending.

At thirty-one years old, Hudson Newman prides himself in maintaining order everywhere he goes. To him order surpassed chaos, it was something his father had drilled into his head at a young age and it has stuck. His routine is always the same and it’s what got him to be successful at Logan Enterprises. That is until he started getting packages of all sorts of candy and lingerie in them that has him confused, all sent to him with the hashtag #ReadToFall. At first he thinks that he is getting pranked, yet it’s his assistant that finally tells him what’s going on and he doesn’t like it one bit. He sets on to find the author of the book and when he does, Hudson can’t believe how gorgeous she is. Callie does not back down when he tells her to delist the book and the only way to get other women to back away is to make them see that he is in a relationship. So he asks Callie to pretend to be his girlfriend and she accept. Little did he know that by spending more time with her, he would develop feelings for her and now he needs to convince her to their relationship a real shot.

I loved the overall concept of the story, it’s relatable to all of us whether we are authors, book bloggers or readers. We get to learn more about why Callie is so hesitant about being in a relationship and how that has affected her dating life. On the other hand, we also get to learn more about Hudson and how his orderly life has prevented him from pursuing what he truly loves. They weren’t expecting to find each other, but they are perfect for one another and we get to see them take that next step in their lives. The secondary characters truly made the story that much entertaining to read and the ending was perfect for them! I would highly recommend checking out this book, I cannot wait to read what Carina Rose comes up with next! :)

Man patika ideja.
To ideju varēja izvērst daudz labāk.

Also, šeit nav seksa ainu.
Big wow.

Viens ir tas, ka man nebija saprotams, kāpēc tad viņa vispār sāka tās attiecības(tās īstās, nevis sākuma feikās. For ef sakes viņš aizveda tevi un parādīja, kur grib būvēt savu ģimenes māju.

Karoč, galvenā varone bija ok sākumā, bet beigās viņa man ļoti nepatika.

Everybody loves a Book Boyfriend.
Including Callie Richardson, who releases her debut novel under a pen name. Her Book Boyfriend, Hudson Newman, gets rave reviews and starts trending. It’s more than she ever hoped for when penning her novel.
Nearby, Hudson Newman—a local businessman—hadn’t heard of the book until people around him started reacting, and he started receiving racy gifts, emails, even marriage proposals. None of which makes sense until his friend and his assistant clue him in. Callie’s hero, the newest trending book boyfriend, is named Hudson Newman, and the character’s physical description bears a striking resemblance to Hudson. So much so that some of Callie’s more rabid fans have found his picture and attached it to character description. The result is Hudson’s orderly life is upended by this character that seems to have been inspired by him, and he tracks down the author.
Hudson and Callie’s relationship begins with animosity on Hudson’s part, and evolves into a fake relationship in an effort to stop the chaotic upheaval of his his life. However, it doesn’t take long for the two to realize how well they suit, how much and easily their lives already overlap, and how much chemistry they have. Suddenly Callie’s book boyfriend has not only stepped off the page, not only pretended to be her real boyfriend, but become hers in truth.
This plotline is every romance readers dream come true, a book boyfriend who walks off the page and fits seamlessly into their life. This sweet romance is addictive, and not reading it all in one sitting takes a good deal of willpower to accomplish. Hudson and Callie are an entertaining, absorbing read, and I feel certain that any lovers of romance will love it for the compelling plot which was expertly handled. Looking forward to reading more from Carina!

The Book Boyfriend is no doubt Carina Rose's best book to date! Talk about sigh-worthy goodness, Hudson Newman and Callie Richardson are not only perfect for each other but have a true connection the other never saw coming. The reason for their initial interaction is all kinds of adorable and such a neat premise with Callie using Hudson's name for her debut novel. Of course, this is all coincidental but as Hudson's world is turned upside down with rumors he IS the book boyfriend every woman now wants, the poor guy is desperate to find a way out of this crazy mess. And it doesn't hurt that the man is truly a walking, talking and very sexy book boyfriend come to life.

The banter is both sharp and sweet between Hudson and Callie as he convinces her to be his real-life girlfriend to get the swarm of fans away from his doorstep. These two never expected to feel that immediate spark but it is there and definitely complicates things making their 'professional' arrangement anything but.

Easy to read and full of heart, what transpires as a relationship of convenience turns into true love, and it's the kind of story that is bound to keep you warm during these colder nights. Carina Rose has given her all with The Book Boyfriend and it shows.

The Book Boyfriend is an absolute hoot! I can seriously see this book being a Hallmark movie. Callie and Hudson are great characters, and Carina Rose does a fantastic job of executing this strangers/enemies-to-lovers/fake relationship storyline.

Romance author Callie's debut novel is a phenomenal success -- but as her star rises, Hudson, businessman who happens to share the name of Callie's hero finds that his life has become a disaster. Her fans have been sending him gifts, racing lingerie -- and he wants it to stop. While Hudson initially wants Callie to take down her book, he has a bit of an a-ha moment and declares that Callie should pretend to be his girlfriend instead

As these two embark on a fake relationship, their adventures are hilarious. As Callie and Hudson fall for one another, and this clean romance has lots of heart and swoon. They both have some baggage that has them trying to protect their hearts, but as they open up to one another, there is a beautiful friendship that develops and eventually leads to love.

When Callie’s book boyfriend turns out to be a real life man, she never expected for him to find her.

Hudson Newman never expected to find flocks of women gazing lovingly at him and sending scandalous items. Turns out his name has appeared in a romance authors debut book. The book has caused his whole world to turn upside down and he never expected to be attracted to the beautiful author of this book.

Callie has always wanted to write a book and never expected for her book to blow up. When it does, the most handsome man shows up at her job demanding the book be taken down because it’s causing a upheaval in his life. Callie never expected a real life Hudson Newman to show up at her door. Hudson strikes up a deal with Callie to fake date him to keep the women at bay. The arrangement starts off innocent but Hudson finds himself falling for Callie and wants more of her as each day passes.

So the question is, will Hudson get the chance to be Callie’s real life book boyfriend?

Sweet, Sassy, Swoon worthy characters, true romance - all the wonderful reasons I have come to love the works of Carina Rose.
In this tale of accidental meet cute and somewhat "fictional coincidence" - Callie has done it. She followed her friend's words of wisdom and published her first romance and book boyfriend, Hudson Newman. Of course the real question is how fictional is he?
Hudson Newman is a power executive, with good looks and intelligence, keeping his world orderly. Until one day, it is all turned upside down and women are falling in line to marry him, sending some of the craziest gifts including sexy lingerie. Why?
When Hudson uncovers that he has been named in a romance novel that has all the women swooning he has to find the author and get his world back in order.
Of course when Hudson and Callie meet, all bets are off and there is a sizzle in the air.
Fall in love along with this beautiful, sweet couple of opposites.

Callie Richardson is at work when a man walks into her office, none too happy. His name is Hudson Newman and he matches the description of her book boyfriend from the debut book she just wrote under a pen name. She thinks it's a joke set up by her best friend, because she used a fictional name made up from her Nana's 2 favorite actors for the boyfriend. He assures her that is his name and this is not a joke and he wants it to stop.
Hudson Newman likes order and when he starts getting all this mail with lots of lingerie, marriage proposals and more, he's had enough. He tells Callie that it has to stop and gives her 2 choices, it's either delist the book or date him.
What's a girl to do?

This is the first time for me to read this author and I really enjoyed the book. It will make you laugh out loud.

What a really great fun read, my first by Carina Rose.
It's every romance readers dream come true. You or your favorite author has just written the book boyfriend (or girlfriend it's your significant other) of your dreams, to your exact specifications and here they just walk into your life.
Things aren't all smooth and easy our Author Callie in the story has derailed someone's life with her debut novel and naming the hero supposedly after him, him who you ask well Hudson Newman. Hudson is none to happy with this situation. But after proposing some fake publicity hoping it'll make the news simmer down some. What Hudson doesn't count on is catching feelings of his own for Callie. This is just absolutely one of the sweetest stories I've read.

I loved Callie and Hudson! Hudson is so swoon-worthy! Callie wrote Hudson Newman as a fictional character in her book, Ready To Fall, but never expected him to appear as if he has had walked out of the pages of her book. Hudson now has fans that are disrupting his orderly life. When he goes to confront Callie, he isn't prepared for her beauty. He also wasn't prepared to ask Callie to be his pretend girlfriend. Suddenly his life is turned upside down, and Hudson starts having real feelings for Callie. Callie is afraid to love for fear of losing them. Can Hudson convince her to give him a chance? Will Callie finally be ready to fall?

I love books about writers, especially romance authors so I was excited to check this one out.

Readers love Callie's first novel, especially the hero, Hudson. Since her book is fiction she is surprised when Hudson Newman walks into her office. His life has been upended a bit because of sharing a name with the character. To get the her readers to leave him alone they start a fake relationship that doesn't stay fake for long.

This was a really unique set up with characters that find themselves thrown together but have good chemistry. The story is sweet, engaging and so much fun!

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

So entertaining that you won’t put it down. It’s one of those books that you just get lost in. From start to finish The Book Boyfriend by Carina Rose has everything you love about romance.

Callie and Hudson will have you flipping the pages to see how this swoony book ends. I loved it. It’s so cute and wholesome. A story of coincidence or fate…you tell me. Once Hudson meets Callie everything in his life quickly changes. Callie never thought her book baby would have such a following but once it did…it lead love right to her door.

Highly recommended.
