Maryam Monsef just referred to the Taliban as “our brothers” pic.twitter.com/KEL5UYa3HO

Watching the ongoing fiasco in Afghanistan, it’s hard to escape the idea that at least some people in the Biden administration are just fine with what is happening. The alternative is to think that they’re the most abjectly incompetent assemblage of “experts” in the history of mankind. While that is entirely possible, the alternative, that the Taliban are regarded more sympathetically in the capitals of Europe and North America than is generally assumed, cannot be discounted. And at a Wednesday press conference, Maryam Monsef, Canada’s minister for women and gender equality, referred to the Taliban as “our brothers.” Slip of the tongue? Not likely.
Monsef said: “I want to take this opportunity to speak to our brothers the Taliban; we call on you to ensure the safe and secure passage of any individual in Afghanistan out of the country. We call on you to immediately stop the violence, the genocide, the femicide, the destruction of infrastructure, including heritage buildings. We call on you to return immediately to the peacekeeping table, to the peace deal that was negotiated, and to ensure women and minorities voices are a part of that discussion in a meaningful way.”
When a reporter challenged her about calling the Taliban “our brothers” and asked her if this represented an opening of the Canadian government toward the jihad terror group, Monsef partially, but not completely, walked back her statement: “Hardly, the Taliban are a terrorist group and yet they claim to be Muslims. The reference to brothers is a cultural reference of course but let me be very clear, we do not support the Taliban. We are horrified that the hard-won gains of the past 20 years are at stake.”
This just raised more questions than it answered. Why would Monsef refer to a group she considers to be terrorists as her “brothers”? But as for her words being a “cultural reference,” she certainly is familiar with the culture of the region. Although she was embroiled in controversy in 2016 when it was revealed that she was born in Iran rather than Afghanistan as she had claimed, Monsef was born to Afghan parents, members of the Shi’ite Hazara minority, who had fled to the Islamic Republic of Iran during the Soviet Union’s occupation of the country. The Taliban, who are Sunnis, are known for ruthlessly persecuting the Hazaras; just a few days ago, they tortured and brutally murdered nine of them.
In 2010, 2013, and 2014, Monsef used an Afghan passport to travel from Toronto to Iran to take part in Islamic pilgrimages. Her press secretary explained in 2016: “Her ultimate destination was Afghanistan, where she wanted to visit her father’s resting ground to pay her respects, and work to empower women and girls.” However, “she was unable to travel there due to terrorism and violence. She briefly remained in Iran volunteering with the Afghan refugee community before returning to Canada.”

Our brothers?
In two words sums up the enormous—and it is enormous beyond almost all measure because Islam keeps getting a pass—problem with Muslims in Western nations.
Muslims in the shithole and parasitic nations which have adopted the heinous Islamic creed, which, unlike any other major faith in its own religious ideology, endorses both death for apostasy (e.g. Sura 4:89) and the sanctioning of rape (Suras 4, 23, 33 and 70), have now come here to the West and are spreading Islam’s horrible principles (like death for apostasy and the sanctioning of rape) amidst the very civilization, i.e., Western Civilization, which explored more avenues of freedom than any other civilization in history.
To ALL adult Muslims in the West (can’t hold Muslim children accountable even though adult Muslims aplenty infect these young minds), each and every one of you is a parasite feeding upon Western freedom in order to destroy Western freedom. And this would include adult Muslims who are foolish enough to think that Islam and liberty are compatible. You all make me sick and I wish there were no Muslims in the West just as I wish there were no Marxists, anarchists, Antifa thugs, BLM thugs, Neo-Nazi thugs, Aryan nation thugs, KKK thugs, et al. in the West. Yes indeed, Muslims in the West are thugs, but unfortunately for the West the cleverest thugs of them all.
Am I comparing willing adult Muslims in the West to some of the worst mankind has produced? You’re damn right I am. Every adult Muslim in the West is a parasite, only the degree varies. No exceptions, ditto for Neo-Nazis and Neo-Marxists.

This is how you answer these miscreants… we need our voices heard.

She is wasting her breath by speaking out in sending that message to the Taliban because they will not and cannot be reasoned with. In other words ,the Taliban will not respond to either reason of logic.

I imagine she knows this–it is more that she is praising the advance of Islam.

Yes, very much seconded, gravenimage.

Maybe so.

Imagine how equally she would be treated if spending a week with her “brothers” in the manner of dress she is wearing in this video. She obviously has only a false concept of these men who will stone, maim, and rape women in the name of their, “god”.
These Taliban men are luddite mercenaries who will spend their lives in militancy. They will not raise the education level, honor women, develop technology, nor bring any benefit to the nation.
Like communist leaders they will be corrupt parasites, living off the labor of the people in the Hamas tradition, generating new millionaires.
National stability through the rule of force is just the all-too-common face of tyranny.

How can anyone who is a Muslim be serious about calling for gender equality? Can some Muslim tell me how a woman can be equal to a man when Allah (in the Koran) says that a woman’s testimony in court is worth only half that of a man, or that a woman is to get a lesser inheritance from her father than her brothers are to get? Was she calling these Taliban her brothers because she is a Muslim? How twisted does a person’s thinking have to be to be in order to twist Islam into conformity with gender equality? If she is a Muslim the god she worships does not support gender equality … but maybe she’s not a Muslim. Is she an apostate? If she’s that then the Taliban will most certainly rape and kill her if they ever get their hands on her – and not necessarily in that order.

Likely just Taqiyya from this Muslimah, CogitoErgoSum.

I beg any Canadian folks here to correct me if I’m wrong, but–
Maryam Monzef holds the Canadian government’s portfolio for women and gender equality because, as someone of Afghan Hazara birth and supposedly Islamic allegiance, she fits the Left’s narrative of how someone can be a devout Muslim and hold to Western feminist and pansexualist ideals at the same time (a bit like Nancy Peelosi and Joe Biden being sper-devout Roman Catholics and never seeing an abortion they didn’t like).
But, what else can the Honorable Secretary do? Can she call on Western feminists to raise, out of their own funds and talents, a few monstrous regiments of women to go occupy the passes of the Hindu Kush and Pamir until all women and girls in Afghanistan can freely walk around in miniskirts?
gravenimage says
She doesn’t want gender equality in Afghanistan. If she did, she would not be lauding the Taliban.
Wellington says
Yes. It’s Stockholm Syndrome but from SS (how appropriate an acronym) from a safe distance, in a country that traditionally has been free but, if she and the Taliban get their way (and they want to) will no longer be free, courtesy of Islamthink (N.B., essentially identical with Sharia).
Meanwhile, this silly woman enjoys freedoms she either wittingly or unwittingly (whichever, she’s a very foolish person but then so is the PM of Canada as is the current President of the USA) seeks to destroy.
Islam + Western Leftism + cowardice by wishy-washy moderate and gutless conservatives = the demise of Western Civilization. Hey, it sure does, a la Hillary, “take a village.” Yep, a village of vile and wussy people.

How exactly does Maryam Monsef, Canada’s minister for women and gender equality, expect the TALIBAN is going to work for ‘gender equality’ in Afghastlistan?
The previous incarnation of the Taliban government SUPPRESSED ALL RIGHTS of women in Afghastlistan.
gravenimage says
Mortimer, she has claimed that the Taliban is “grown up” now–and doesn’t want anyone pointing out those slip-ups where the Taliban is setting women on fire for “poor cooking” or going door-to-door seizing girls to use as sex slaves.
mortimer says
Reply to GI: Monsef is not delusional … she is covering up what Islam actually is, what it teaches and how it behaves in real time … kafirs are ‘mubaa’ (licit for rape).
If Monsef doesn’t know that, then she is incompetent. If she knows that (and I believe she does), then she is an Islamist.
gravenimage says
I absolutely agree, Mortimer–this is not cluelessness from Monsef, it is Taqiyya.
mortimer says
addendum: There is no evidence that Monsef can adduce to show that the Taliban is “grown up” now. She is lying … she is bull====ing. She is covering up for Islam. She knows Islam REPRESSES women’s rights.
She should be sacked. The voters of Peterborough riding should ship her RIGHT TO POLITICAL OBLIVION in next month’s Canadian election.
Wellington says
Not to quibble, mortimer, but how does covering up for Islam and not being delusional represent a difference?
I don’t mean to be difficult (well, OK, often times I do but not here) but I fail to see a real distinction.
Hope you’re doing well and, as always, appreciate your comments, and which I agree with about 90% of the time.

Imagine anyone calling the Taliban their “brothers”. Of course, this Muslim woman is willing to call the Taliban maggots “our brothers” because they are fellow Muslims. To be anyone’s brother or sister you have to be human. The Taliban are not humans. This was talked about briefly on Peta Credlin’s program on Sky News TV in Australia last night and I think former politician, Cory Bernardi, now a no nonsense commentator on the Sky News channel, was thinking along those lines when he said that the members of the Taliban are subhuman, which is the way I also tend to see them. Obviously, human beings can be incredibly evil, but the Taliban, so totally inhumane in their behaviour, don’t deserve to be considered human, so they can’t be anyone’s brothers.

Send her to Afghanistan to meet “her brothers”.
Jonas Richter Fjeld says
Freudian slip?
Btw: When I see women in Niqab fleeing the Taliban I get somewhat confused. The Talibanistas are good Muslims. They take the faith seriously, and do what the Quran and the Hadiths tell them to. Why would any Muslim flee from them? Unless they are not actually fleeing, just taking the advantage to take part in the silent jihad.
Did any of those who fled the Nazis later propagate national socialism? Did those who fled communism try to make a revolution?
We all know the answers to that. Yet the Muslims who allegedly flee from Islam bring their goblins with them, and try to implement the same realm of darkness in our countries.
I blame the socialist and liberal apologists.

Well said.

Her walk back is ignorant. The Taliban are practicing the Islam of Its founder. He was quite fine with employing terrorism to achieve his wools of conquest by force. And all of those statements in the combined tenants is modern Islam still exist. It’s just that many western Muslims either are unaware of them or simply profess they are not part of Islam without ever calling for its reformation.

”the Taliban are a terrorist group and yet they claim to be Muslims”
Well, you learn something new every day. One cannot be a terrorist and a muslim at the same time? Does that apply equally to ISIS, devout muslims by their own declaration shooting and stabbing innocent people in any Western country you care to name, the PKK, most Chechens, pallies, etc? Gee, and she otherwise sounded and looked like a total airhead.
And cultural references? Try getting to know the Canadian indigenous a bit better. I share no culture with the Taliban.
Jonas Richter Fjeld says
Can you be a real Muslim and not take part in the ‘forever war’ against us infidels? No really, no. That is why polls find that a surprising number of ‘ordinary Muslims’ have a soft spot for the jihadis.
The Quran and the Hadiths are clear, and Islam’s history likewise; the jihad, overt and covert, will continue until there is no more unbelievers left.
As a Christian I also want to preach my religion until I die, but I will also at least try to love my neighbor, be he as red as blood or black as sin, or a follower of the accursed false prophet (Galatians, 1: 8-9). I will fail, regularly, but that is because I remain deplorably human, but Gospel is clear; love and mercy and charity. That is our core values.
I do not accept to be eradicated, though, nor do I accept that anybody else suffer this.
OLD GUY says
This is the spread of islam around the world, these islamic followers won’t change when they leave Afghanistan or any of the other muslim countries. The silent migration invasion of non-muslim countries is moving along like a freight train going down hill. How can an enemy go wrong when the countries they want to destroy are paying for the muslim invasion and providing the transportation and arms for the take over.
Kepha says
Well, both the USA and Canada are in step with each other–they both elected nincompoops to lead them. Too bad the two countries can’t be in step with capable people at the helm.
