It's no secret our house is a little basketball obsessed. We are at the stadium 5 or 6 days a week with hubby and states either training or playing. So, when I first stumbled across Sierra Hill's basketball series, I was in hoops heaven. And the series was great, it was obvious it was written by someone who knew the game. Plus, it had all the elements I love in sports romances.

Naturally when I heard Sierra had a new basketball book, I jumped on that without reading the blurb and I regret nothing. It wasn't what I was expecting. It was real and emotional and there were a lot of times I felt the angst each character was dealing with. And despite the fact each of their issues were vastly different they both had me really wanting them to get their much deserved happily ever after.

Zeke started off really shaky and I didn't think I was going to like him. He seemed so shallow and self-absorbed. Thankfully Kendall pulled his head out of his you know where and his mature, sweet side shone through. Kendall was this professional, smart, successful boss lady who made me jealous of how together she was. Then we saw a few of her layer’s peel back and she was beautifully human.

The relationship between them developed so organically and everything felt so natural it was easy to get caught up in it. The drama was pretty obvious, but it played out in a way that kept me guessing and turning the pages. I loved getting a glimpse of past couples and players and I can't wait to see where the series is going next.

The Rush Method

4.5 stars - So good! This book tackles some tough subjects. First and foremost is mental health and finding healthy outlets, habits to help Zeke become a better, more mentally sound version of himself after a debilitating panic attack.

Puget-Sound-Pilots-Bk-01-The-Girlfriend-Game-Sierra-Hill-Quote-01

There are some other topics that are broached with less emphasis but still important, such as that whole dating a patient thing. I like that it was part of the discussion but, for as realistic as the rest of the book was, this part felt a little... overlooked? Under explored? Explored but not enough weight given to it? It's definitely covered but in a flash it's no longer discussed. I can't put my finger on it. It just felt incomplete somehow.

Puget-Sound-Pilots-Bk-01-The-Girlfriend-Game-Sierra-Hill-Quote-02

Let's move to the good stuff. Zeke and Kendall broke my heart after giving me such hope. I LOVE how their relationship started and developed. The unknown element regarding who's on the other end of those bytes with the little details that made them who they were. Private, intimate looks into each other through the power of anonymity.

Once the truth comes out? Oh, the tension is palpable! Once the seal is broken, they become insatiable - and a bit risky with their public encounters. 🔥🎉🔥🎉 *wagging eyebrows suggestively*

The last secret is the one that breaks my heart. I won't say anymore. Suffice to say, tissues were a necessity. I'm voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

A whole new series by Sierra Hill, and it’s a sports romance as well? I couldn’t get this book on my kindle fast enough.
Zeke and Kendall’s story touches on mental health issues, and even though it’s not something I actively look for to read about, every time I do I tend to come away with just a little more empathy towards people that suffer from this. So I can only take my hat off to the wonderful job Sierra did in bringing this into this story.
No onto the romance side - so incredible to read and some very spicy moments that I just always love in my romance novels. It doesn’t detract from the story, to me it definitely enhances it. The taboo part (doctor/patient) probably could have been expanded upon but I wasn’t disappointed that it didn’t.
Luckily for me I have book two already loaded up ready to read - so I guess I better get on that!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This story absolutely has it all!

Zeke and Kendall’s story was something I needed to read! As someone dealing with my own struggles I love a book that feels like it was written just for me! Seeing Zeke get up from a dark place was absolutely inspiring and I feel that Hill did justice to mental health and how hard it is to find your way! I loved that it was the Hero that needed some saving and how these two came together was a funny surprise and a great twist!

Kendall herself was such a strong heroine and I loved how vulnerable she was especially because she came across as having it all figured out but truly do we ever?

I just found these two to be very relatable and their story inspiring.

Such a great story between Kendall and Zeke. This story does deal with some tough issues and I’m glad that Zeke finally admitted to himself and got the help he needed.

Having read Ms.Hill's work before I always look so forward to picking up her books! When this one was announced i had to add it to my TBR List right away. I enjoyed this story so much!

Right from the prologue I was pulled in! Zeke and Kendall's journey was such a different one which was a breath of fresh air! I really appreciated the realness shown throughout especially when it came to Zeke and I connected with him on a deep level. I really liked the chemistry between these two and how i felt so many things with both of them throughout!

With The Girlfriend Game, Ms.Hill has created a great read with realness and feels! I can't wait to pick up what she releases next! (:

The Girlfriend Game is a wonderful, well written story from Sierra Hill. It does deal with some heavy issues but it is done with care and attention to the subjects.

Zeke is a professional basketball player and when his metal health starts to suffer he needs to seek someone to help him deal with his emotions. When he meets his therapist Kendall things definitely get off to a rocky start, but Kendall isn't easily put off and is determined to help Zeke even if it means lising her heart in the process.

A really emotional story that I think a lot of readers will connect with. I definitely did. This is a book that I would highly recommend.

Zeke is dealing with anxiety that cripples him in the middle of a high stakes basketball game. Kendall is the therapist he didn’t want to see.

That’s by day… but at night they’re each (reluctantly) jumping into the online dating pool.

Kendall and Zeke’s journey is an emotional page turner, and the start of a whole new series by Sierra Hill. Zeke’s anxiety takes center stage at times and shines a light on mental health difficulties faced by those who appear invincible.

Great sports romance with a surprise!
What happens when you pass out in the middle of a game? Well for Zeke, it was to be sent to as quack to deal with his past demons...however it all just got more complicated when the quack is a gorgeous woman.
She pushes him.
She gets him to open up.
And she gets his heart.
But with the visions of the future and the discussion of a family, things are on edge.
Can Zeke get past his demons to have a life with the woman he loves? Or will she push him away to hide a secret that could blow up everything entirely?
Hot boat sex, pushy sisters and growing families!

The Girlfriend Game by Sierra Hill a fantastic five-star read. This is such a hard-hitting story and done so well. It just blew me away, Kendall Rush and her Rush method would do so well in real life, hopefully some will find help with it. I adored Kendall as she shows us that even when you have all of your eggs in your basket and they are all good, you can still drop it and feel like you have lost it all, or you can realise you can still make an omelette. Zeke was the one who made me blush and he warmed my heart so much; he has such depth to him. This is a very deep and dramatic story, but its also a very good one, and I am just going to put it out there and say possibly one of my favourites. I m so excited to see who we will see find love next.

Whew! This was a great story dealing with depression and anxiety! Zeke was a totally swoon worthy H...... and the things that he did to get himself back to a mentally healthy place were nothing short of amazing! Kendall was the perfect thing to help him get past so much.... and while I do not agree with her choices, I totally understand the reason that she made them..... but my opinion is that not only did she not believe in Zeke to make the best choice for himself.... it also felt like she didn't believe that she had done a good enough job helping with his mental recovery, even after he was no longer her client.... they way that she was with him in understanding him on many levels was very helpful to his recovery process. And I feel like she didn't have faith in that either.

But regardless this was a wonderful story with a lot of feelings of love and contentment!

I love what the author did here with Zeke having a panic attack and seeking the help he needs. It's raw and emotional but also sweet and sexy. Zeke and Kendall took my heart and I love the balance of the rough and the lightheartedness the author throws in.

Over the last year and a half we’ve all learned that mental health is really important and I love that with this book Sierra Hill has taken on the task of showing us how it’s important and the effects it can have on us if not acknowledging it.
So much can cause you to have anxiety, depression, panic attacks, but without willing to get the help it can consume you. You need to find the right tools to help get through it, and with this book Sierra has outlined the real outcome and how it can take you down a spiral hole.
After reading this story for myself I know that I can relate to it in so many ways and that’s due to having all of those things and when you find something or someone that can understand the feeling of those it can help take a little weight off your shoulders.
It was interesting seeing how Zeke handled everything considering it was clear he was suffering with his mental health and instead of wanting to accept that he was going through it, he chooses to ignore it even though there were so many signs pointing to it. I get not wanting to seem weak because of it, but still when you embrace it and do something to show that you’re not going to let it consume you, it makes you a lot stronger than you think.
Zeke goes through such an incredible journey and it’s incredible getting to see how he handles everything, but also getting to see him grow as a character.
I thought that Sierra took the topic of mental health in such an incredible way as it helps you learn about things you never thought of before, plus it also gives you advice if you’re struggling with what to do, so I would completely recommend giving this a read because whilst it’s a great story, it’s also the perfect book to help you if you’re struggling.
I loved everything that was written, but the one thing that I would loved to have learned more of is about Zeke’s childhood and how things started for him, as we do get glimpses, but we don’t really get to know a lot as if anything it would have been great to have gotten to the root of the beginning.
Other than that I loved both characters and how their stories went. I’m actually excited to see what happens next in the series as it would be great getting to know the other characters as it’s clear they play a big part to the series.

For as long as Zeke can remember he’s been having these moments where he gets these sharp pains, his vision blacks out and normally he’s been able to just get through it… however when it becomes apparent it’s nothing as he ends up suffering during one of his basketball games, he refuses to accept what he’s told about his mental health. Not wanting to seem weak, he’s determined to keep living his life he way he does, however when his coach gives him the ultimation of going to therapy or getting kicked from the team, Zeke knows for a fact that he can’t lose the one thing he’s invested his time and energy into. So he chooses to go with the therapy, but what he wasn’t expecting was for Dr Kendall Rush to be a woman, but also be incredibly hot…
Knowing he has to keep his thoughts about her to himself, he does what he does best and avoids everything, including walking out of his first session because she hits a nerve with him.
Deciding that he’s not going to continue with it, he’s hating that he’ll never get to see Kendall again. Will he make the choice to go back or will he lose everything he’s ever loved and lived for???

ARC REVIEW:
Review: 4.25/5 ⭐️
Steam: 3.5/5 🔥

#thegirlfriendgame by @sierrahillbooks addresses a lot of different heavy issues, and I thought it was done wonderfully.

Zeke is a big time professional basketball player. He’s been in the league a long time and has been living the professional bachelor lifestyle. But reality comes to knock him on his ass, when he realized all the pent up emotion he’s been trying to hide. Now he needs to open up to someone, but talking to a therapist is one thing; but sharing more than just your thoughts can get in the way. Kendall got under his skin and into his heart.

Kendall is determined, smart and takes no shit. She’s a PhD who has developed a method for getting through to anyone. Especially athletes. Sometimes it takes a little shove by a loved one to figure out that there’s more to life than work. You can still help people while experiencing your own dreams. Zeke can be that guy, but they aren’t on the same page about some important life decisions.

This book talks a lot about mental health. It does not discriminate against anyone. You can be the highest paid athlete in the world, but still suffer from anxiety and depression. There’s a huge stigma around mental health, therapy and medication. If it can help save lives; then there shouldn’t be anything badly said about it.

I love this story and the emotional journey it takes for both characters is really emotional and beautiful.
Zeke and Kendall meeting as psychologist and patient first, then meet a different way that is so fun, sexy and really one of my favorite things in romance. I was so giddy when their relationship took “that” turn.
The characters are really likable and relatable on a basic level. Obviously, I can’t relate to being an NBA player or a psychologist, but as humans they are immensely sympathetic characters.
I really love that the story is centered around Zeke having a panic attack in a very public way, forcing him to deal with past trauma. It’s an issue I think so many of us can relate to personally (I can) and if not us directly it probably affects a loved one.
Their romance is fairly smooth, they have a pretty instant attraction and connection.
Their chemistry is great and the sexy times are pretty hot!
The “bump” in the relationship is one I expected, it was foreshadowed so it’s not a big surprise.
The only thing I wanted different was a bit more angst and time to consider the situation (for Zeke.)
I think it would have made sense for him to freak out a bit and take a bit of thinking to come around.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable story, great characters and it had beautiful messages within the plot.
Caring for those less fortunate, understanding mental health and those who don’t have access to help. Very important issues close to my heart. I think the author handled it very well.
A thoughtful, fun and enjoyable romance.

Poor Zeke, life takes a turn at the worst possible moment, having an anxiety attack during the final playoff game, and you already know he feels like he let everyone down. Luckily, his GM of the team sends him to a sports psychotherapist instead of trading him, and maybe just maybe, it will help. Zeke came off so real with all his inner monologue after that moment in time that I really wanted to hug him so much. Kendall is that sports psychotherapist, who has experience in high profile clients, with a very good treatment plan that has been successful to boot, but what she didn't count on was having a connection with Zeke, and obviously, it made things a tad more complicated at the end of the day since there are rules for this situation, not to mention that whole ethics situation. This story kept me on my toes as I found myself anxious for a lot of different reasons, and probably the biggest of all, how realistic it felt despite Zeke being a pro baller which I am not. There were a few things Kendall did that bothered me, but since anything I may or may not like is a personal preference, I won't go into detail so decide for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! {4.5 STARS}

Sierra Hill did a fabulous job with The Girlfriend Game! I really loved watching Zeke and Kendall fall for each other, especially with their relationship being so taboo. Granted, when they went to that first date, they didn't really know who the other was, but it really was inevitable that these two would find their way together.

Mental health isn't always addressed the best in romances (at least not in my opinion), but I loved how she dealt with it in Zeke. I can't even begin to imagine the pressures of being in the spotlight, but also dealing with traumas from the past and just life in general. She handled the topic with grace and compassion, which made me love Zeke even more than I already had started to. And even though his relationship with Kendall grew from a therapist/patient into something more, I loved how before things changed, how she helped him think about things in a different way. He had always been resistant to therapies, but sometimes it takes awhile to find someone to help a person open up.

The Girlfriend Game by Sierra Hill

This was the first book for me from this author but certainly won’t be the last. This is Zeke and Kendall’s story and I loved it. I absolutely loved that it wasn’t just a regular romance no it touched on mental health and I loved that it was the super strong on top of the world Zeke the one dealing with it. It gives us the prospective of how a problem such as mental health does not discriminate. It doesn’t care if you are a famous basketball player or a homeless person. I loved that Kendall helped Zeke see that. I loved that these two had a professional relationship and yet without knowing they were opening up to each other and having a deeper connection as Mountain. Man and The other sister. I loved the connection and the chemistry between the two for sure. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for sure. I look forward to the next one.

Zeke appears to be living the dream as he is a professional basketball player who can have any woman he wants but that is only what others see. When the turmoil he is feeling is exposed in a public way his team forces him to confront what has brought him to this point.

Kendall is a therapist who has been able to create a reputation for herself when it comes to the difficulties that people and in particular men in Zeke’s position feel. Not only is she challenged by the fact that he believes he can handle everything himself but there is also the attraction between them that only seems to become stronger.

I really enjoyed the growth of Zeke’s character as with Kendall’s guidance he realized that realizing you need help is a strength and not a weakness. Although they had some setbacks along the way there is no denying they are meant to be together.

The Girlfriend Game is a fabulous romance by Sierra Hill. I love this sports romance.

This is a story of Zeke meeting a woman online and then finding out it's his therapist. And he's falling for this forbidden woman. Everything about their developing romance and the obstacles in their way are a lot of fun.

The anxiety aspect is wonderfully written, with honesty and plenty of care. I appreciate all of it.

Their story is a lot of fun, with plenty of moments to keep you invested. And if you enjoy basketball, you'll love that Zeke's an NBA player.

Written in alternating first person pov, both characters easily come to life and pull you into their stories.

The Girlfriend Game is a delightful sports romance. This is yet one more wonderful addition to Sierra Hill's book catalog. Definitely check it out the next time you're in the mood for a sports romance.

This is the first in a new series and is Zeke and Kendall’s story. Zeke is a basketball player, who has been ignoring the warning signs, and he passes out in from of the parking area due to an anxiety attack. Zeke is referred to a sports psychologist for help. Kendall is a smart and successful psychologist, and she uses her unique methods to help Zeke, as she encourages him to delve into his past. The chemistry between these two is undeniable. This is a well written story which touches on some tough and sensitive issues, and has drama, emotions, intrigue, twists, challenges, humor, and love, which leads to a swoony and thought-provoking page turner, I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This story gives us a look into depression and anxiety. Our main character, Zeke, is a successful pro basketball player. Rich, handsome and popular. After having a mental meltdown during a game, he is required to seek professional help.
Kendall is the therapist he reluctantly visits. The first time around doesn’t work and he spirals. He is given an ultimatum and he tries again. This time is able to progress.
The journey is full of ups and downs. The focus remained on Zeke’s working on his mental health.
The story is emotional and realistic. Being in the spotlight and acknowledging your mental health issues can’t be easy. Zeke got to the point where he was able and willing to help others.
They also have to deal with couple issues. The dating a patient is touched on. The have differences that they have to overcome to get their HEA.

The Girlfriend Game is an emotional, flirty, fun, and heartfelt journey. Zeke's life is falling apart and he refuses to admit what's really going on. Kendall is a well known psychotherapist with great outcomes with her all-star clients. When Zeke is forced into seeing Kendall, it is not an easy thing for Zeke, especially when he has to deal with his attraction to Kendall. These two go back and forth when meeting to help Zeke, but nothing goes as planned. Kendall and Zeke take us on quite the adventure of overcoming fears, finding love, and opening up to the endless possibilities, but will these two cross that line or will their current predicament squash the possibility of a future? Find out if Zeke has the girlfriend game figured out or will he blow his chance?

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Kendall Rush & Zeke Forester . Zeke has passed out on the court of a basketball game that he is a player in. Since the doctors can't find anything wrong with him they send him to Kendall. One look at her and he wants to play a whole different game with her. Kendall is use to professional athletes but there is something about Zeke that really drags her in. When her twin signs her up for a dating app she decides to give it a try little did she know she was talking to her client. Can these two find a HEA or will their professions make that impossible?

Amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

What a start to this brand new series by Sierra by Sierra Hill, Zeke and Kendall's story is a lovely slow-burn romance set in the world of Basket Ball, Ms Hill took a delicate subject of mental health within sports and delivered a tender yet emotional story of Zeke who passes out on the basketball court and all indications are it was a panic attack, at the beginning with the help of our Dr Kendall, he starts to open up about his past, but as the pair grow closer their relationship takes on a more personal feel, Kendall is 35 and is happy with her single life, she wasn't expecting Zeke or the feelings he brings out in her, so although this is Zeke's story of letting go and believing in himself we also see Kendall grow as a person too.

Let just start this review with saying that this is a must read book and Ms. Sierra did a fantastic job. This review will be short as I am having issues putting words down for this book but I was still hooked and didn't want to put it down. Zeke and Kendall were wonderful together. Mental health issues are not easy to live with by any means yet Zeke and Kendall are able to navigate their way through the ups, down, lefts, rights, twists and turn that are thrown their way. I would HIGHLY recommend this book and Ms. Sierra as a fantastic author.

The Girlfriend Game is about a professional basketball player who is forced to deal with his mental health issues after having a panic attack on the court. Zeke is sent to Kendall a sought after therapist who is known for being able to get her clients to open up and sharing. At first, these two start out as a professional doctor/client relationship but along the way they take some unexpected forbidden turns. I loved the way this author gave us a journey of love but also a journey of healing. From the real life problems to the great writing this is a definite must read. This was an interesting story. I didn’t want to put it down because I couldn’t wait to see what happened next to Kendall and Zeke.

Zeke is a professional basketball player with a problem. All of a sudden, he’s out of control and having anxiety attacks. He needs help and is ‘encouraged’ to go see a psychiatrist. Kendall has worked very hard for her career and her method to help others. When they are matched on a dating site that doesn’t allow pictures, what will happen to them? Will they be able to navigate their personal with their professional lives?
