SEALs and CIA #2

Covert Vengeance

Rate this book
He's desperate for revenge... and her.
Navy SEAL Tony "Flakes" Hackenbreg's career and sanity ride on the upcoming mission to hunt and capture a known ARMs dealer. Being forced to partner with the dangerously beautiful CIA agent Elliot Smith is the last thing he wants or needs. With her love for explosives, sassy mouth, and a body most men would kill for, Elliot is everything he never knew he needed. Nights and days forced together the two shift from enemies to partners before morphing into a sizzling attraction that neither try to resist. But keeping Elliot protected during the covert mission proves to be the hardest challenge of Tony's career.

She's willing to kill anyone who stands in her way... except the one SEAL whose commands she's eager to obey.
Elliot Smith's last operation to Colombia cost her everything: her flawless mission reputation with the CIA, her partner, and nearly her own life. With vengeance on her mind, she doesn't want or need a mouthy, dominant SEAL monitoring her every move like an overprotective babysitter. But when he sneaks past her defenses, making her open up about her past and hopes of a future, Elliot wonders if she's finally met her equal.

When tension turns to passion in the middle of a covert mission they miss the signs of a trap, putting Elliot's life in the evil hands of their shared enemy. Can Tony find her before the ARMs dealer slips away with the only woman he's ever loved or will Elliot be lost for good?

Covert Vengeance is a standalone, no cliffhanger, SEAL romantic suspense novel. Each book in the SEALs and CIA Series can be enjoyed on their own; however, because of character crossover, reading the series in order is recommended. This series is suggested for mature readers due to detailed intimate scenes, discussion of abuse, violence, and foul language.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the SEALs and CIA series. I have read and reviewed the first book in this series, but I do think this book can be read as a standalone. I did loved the first book, and you will get to meet Flakes in the first book. The beginning was hard to get into, but once I was into this book I did not want to put it down. I loved the characters in this book. I really loved Elliot's character because she was one bad a** girl that did not care what anyone felt about her. I love seeing more of Flakes. This book had action, romance, steamy times, suspense, and great characters... I really enjoyed this book. It would have been a five star read if the beginning was not so confessing and hard to get into. I cannot wait for more books in this series.

In Covert Vengeance, Navy SEAL Tony and CIA agent Elliot’s past and present collide in a fireball of passion and action.

Trigger Warning: Violence, Torture

Synopsis:
CIA Officer Elliot Smith is eagerly waiting for their operation in Colombia to get over; it’s been eighteen long months of it. But everything goes sideways as their identities are revealed to the arms dealer whose reign of terror they wanted to end. With her partner killed in action, and her captured, it’s Anthony Hackenbreg’s SEAL team that comes to her rescue, but that only leads to half of his men being killed. Will these two survive to find out the mole that led to the death of so many?

Review:
After reading so much about Tony in the last book, I was a bit apprehensive about reading his story. But it’s Kennedy L. Mitchell writing it, so I had to read it. Covert Vengeance starts with a prologue from Elliot’s point of view and it’s one action-packed prologue. And after reading about her and Kurt’s (her CIA partner) equation, I was totally invested in this story.

A bonus was having Gabe and Luce as a part of this, the protagonists from Covert Affair, and seeing their equation and camaraderie further evolve.

Maybe I’m crazy but I loved how the CIA women in this series all love their knives. Sigh! Self-defence over everything. Moreover, the way the title connects to the story is brilliant. And it’s bloody vengeance all the way.

What I didn’t expect at all was Tony’s arc to be the way it was, which was a revelation, especially after the last book. And I was sad too, about him losing some of the men in his platoon. That Gabe and Tony’s friendship is special was established in the first book and to see more of it was wonderful.
Never let your guard down. Always stay vigilant. That’s how you come home in one piece. And now more than ever, I have a reason to come home.

After the prologue, the story starts eight months after the shit went down. And it’s as much thrilling as it’s sad. Give me a heroine who can cross-stitch and fire a gun any day. Especially someone who speaks her mind as Elliot does.

As much as I enjoyed sweet as hell Gabe in the previous book, I enjoyed Tony more, with his challenging and as crazy as his counterpart attitude. And when starting this book, I never expected that I would say this!
So maybe this is love. An explosive, edgy, bloodthirsty type of love.

While the ending is as surprising as it is badass, it has a terrific epilogue as well, with their naughty and hot selves on full display.

P.S. This book had a very important message, to always stay hydrated. Even in between deadly missions, and even in between reading breathtaking books.

P.P.S. Why do I have the sneaky suspicion that next up will be Tony and Gabe’s CO Williams’ story?

Covert Vengeance
is the second book in the SEALS and CIA series by Kennedy L Mitchell. This can without a doubt be read and enjoyed as a standalone, but there are cross over characters from book 1.

A mission gone wrong greatly impacted the lives of Navy SEAL Tony Hackenbreg and CIA agent Elliot Smith. It also gave these two strangers a common enemy. Being forced to partner together is the last thing either of them want, but it's what they both need. Falling for each other would be a liability and a weakness, but you can't control emotions. When their mission goes array, will they both come out survivors once again.

I know my recap of the book was vague, but if you want more, scroll on up and read the synopsis because I didn't want to accidentally give any spoilers. Covert Vengeance is action packed from start to finish. There are life or death situations, both leads pushing their bodied and minds to the limits, sexual tension, and explosive chemistry.

Tony and Elliot are both extremely complex characters, with layers upon layers. If you read the first book you might not have been a fan of Tony, like myself, but he just completely stole my heart in this one, which I never could have expected. The mission that starts off the book completely changes Tony as a person. He is nothing like the characters who I couldn't stand in the first book. He is drowning in grief and feels like a failure. That on top of the reasons for why he used to be a cheating man whore just crushes you with emotions. I really appreciated that his character started his personal journey of growth and change before his relationship with Elliot even begins. Instead, she helps him come to terms with his grief and helps him heal.

"If there's a life without you in it, I don't want it."

Now onto Elliot, holy moly where to begin with her. She is such a wildcard in the best way possible. More than a bit crazy, fierce, sharp tongued, bad a** who likes to cross stitch in her downtime, and I totally had a girl crush on her from the start. She didn't need saving, she needed an equal who she could let her guard down around. Tony gave her that and more, knowing he trusted she could handle herself but that he would step in in a heartbeat. They had each other's back even before their feelings got involved. Elliot also had as much childhood trauma in her past as Tony did. Even though it made her into the strong woman she is, it was still heartbreaking to read.

"You're the counterpart to my crazy, and I don't ...I don't know what t do with that. I'm f*cking lost in you, and I'm not sure I ever want to be found."

Hot Damn 🔥🔥 together, Tony and Elliot were fantastic. Two great characters, made even better when they competed head-to-head verbally and physically. They were constantly entertaining and I couldn't get enough. The build up of sexual tension between them was delicious, and the pay-off was even better. Their relationship has the right balance of emotion and steam. Tony brings the perfect amount of dominance and dirty talk and gives Elliot the safe space to submit and enjoy every second of it.

Covert Vengeance
by Kennedy L Mitchell is a top-notch suspense romance with a redemption arc, revenge, high emotion, quality steam, and healing.

Edge of your seat tension and romance…

I’m not sure what magic pen this author has but she wields it to create the most amazing stories! Characters to connect with right away, stories that are full of action and tension and love to take your breath…

This story starts with jab to the heart and, honestly, I’m not sure that it let up. Elliott was one of the strongest character I’ve ever read but even she would be pushed to the breaking point enduring what she had to. Throw in Tony “Flakes” and I knew their relationship was going to be something special. If they didn’t harm each other first…

Elliott quickly became one of my favourite heroines. And “Flakes” became so much more than what he seemed in the first series book. They were strong, smart and they felt so real to me with their inner struggles laid bare. The tension between them was incredibly high and that fed into the battles they faced with their enemies and the chemistry between them that grew and grew and grew…

Man, I loved this story - one of my top reads of the year! ~Diane, 5 stars

Omg this was another epic book from this talented author. I don't think she could write a bad or boring book if she tried. Yet again I shut out the world while I was transfixed from cover to cover.
I could ramble on for ages on how much I adored this book, but honestly like any other book by this author, it needs to be experienced first hand.
In fact the more I think about this book, I've just added it to my top reads of '21 list as the heroine especially will be hard to beat. Definitely my favourite from one of my favourite authors.
Highly recommend that you one click immediately, you don't want to miss out on this action packed read.

Kennedy Mitchell slays it with Tony and Elliots story. I couldn’t put this one down as it consumed me from the opening pages. Brace yourself for the impact! These loveable characters have explosive chemistry and their banter is fire! You. Need. This. Book!! You will be on one wild ride all the way to the finish. Tony and Elliot have one heck of a story… it is intense, engaging and the banter between the h and H is absolutely perfect! A must read!

“There’s no coming back if you lose the sense of self that tethers you to your reason for living.”

Covert Vengeance is another five star read from Kennedy Mitchell. Full of heart-stopping suspense and drama, I was enthralled from the first page to the last. The picture that she paints of the world of a Navy SEAL and a CIA agent is vivid and her words bring it to life.

Both Tony and Elliot were involved in a mission that went terribly wrong. Both lost people and blame themselves for their deaths. They are determined to avenge their deaths no matter what the cost. Can they work together to achieve their common goal or is this mission also doomed from the start?

“Elliot Smith in all her strange, sometimes volatile glory is worth living for.”

Elliot is a whip smart and slightly crazy. She is basically fearless and never backs down from a fight. Her sheer determination has kept her alive and she prides herself on being alone. When she meets Tony, she finds herself letting someone into her heart for the first time in her life and realizes that she doesn’t have to be alone.

“I care, more than I should, because of you. Not the SEAL or the man who saved me, but you. Just Tony Hackenberg. The man who lets me be me, who sees the hideousness inside me and smiles.”

Tony is a broken man after losing most of his SEAL team and he’s finding it difficult to move on from his pain. I wasn’t sure I would like Tony since he was a jerk in the last book, but he’s completely redeemed in this book. He is an absolute over protective, alpha SEAL who will do anything to protect those that he cares about. Elliot’s presence in his life reawakens him and forces him to open his heart.

“Never again. Never again will either of us have to do this alone. We’re in this together now, and I can’t **cking wait to see what’s in store for us.”

These two stubborn people are perfect for each other. Their banter is so much fun and the chemistry is sizzling. I loved the respect that they had for each other and their belief that the other was strong and capable. They made each other stronger.

There is never a dull moment in this book and it’s one crazy, exhilarating rollercoaster ride of angst, suspense, and so much steam. These two captured my heart and I’m hoping that McLovin will have a story in the future.

I'm going to start out by saying, Elliot is a bada** and totally my hero at the end of the day. She's absolutely crazy but one would have to be to deal with the stuff she's dealt with in the CIA. It all starts out with a mission gone so very wrong, and man the fallout was horrifying to be honest. Fast forward some time, and SEAL Tony is still tortured about that rescue mission, so he hasn't even gone back to active duty until, however the opportunity for him to get revenge on the lowlife who destroyed his world is offered up so he's got some work to do. Oh, and he gets to work with Elliot who's absolutely his equal in every way, so the sparks are flying, but there's so much that Elliot doesn't know that Tony has kept from her. No matter though, they're off to a very dangerous mission (she gets her vengeance as well) but things go sideways so will they both get out of there alive at the end of the day?! And if so, will their careers allow them the opportunity for a future together?! Man, this story had everything that I wanted with some that I didn't even know I wanted but I would expect nothing less from the brilliant Kennedy L. Mitchell since I've been a fan for a cool minute! So grab a drink and buckle up for one hell of a ride that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This author continues to WOW me with every book she writes! If you like romantic suspense, then you NEED Kennedy L Mitchell's books in your life, and you can start with this one!!!

What do you get when you combine a HOT broody SEAL with a feisty and badass CIA heroine!?!? Amazing chemistry, intense passion, and addictive and all-consuming suspense! I loved every second of this book from the Prologue, which is edge of your seat gripping drama, to the very end, where you will swoon and stand up and cheer for this hero and heroine.

Both of these characters had so much depth, and their development as the story unfolded was spell-binding. The push and pull and fight for dominance (both in and out of the bedroom) was sexy and riveting. And when they showed their vulnerabilities and let their walls down, I fell for these two even more. Tony is ALL MALE and his SEAL badassery and confident swagger are such a turn-on. And Elliot will make you laugh and in the next breath your jaw will be on the floor because of what this heroine is capable of - I loved her!!!

I can't recommend this author and this book enough!! Well done once again KL Mitchell! This is an absolute FIVE STAR, MUST READ!

Kennedy L. Mitchell is a master of delivering action packed romantic suspense with sizzling hot passion. Covert Vengeance is no exception. Elliot and Tony are both extremely strong, complex, broken and fierce characters. They complete each other so well and their connection will be tested as they go through a mission that is a matter of life and death.
.
CIA officer Elliot's last mission to take down Colombian arms dealer Rico Suarez went terribly wrong. She lost her partner and almost her life. Then she is given a chance for revenge. She has to partner with Navy Seal Tony. What she doesn't know that Tony lost his team members while trying to rescue her as his team was there to help taking down Rico. His body, mind and heart are scarred. Now they can either help each other to get their broken parts together or lose everything.
.
There is no conventional hero or heroine in this story. Because Elliot matches Tony at everything, except the gender. I am a huge fan of the author's strong sassy heroines and Elliot is really one of a kind. Her life was always struggle and CIA life was harder. She is inappropriate, with a dirty mouth and sick sense of humor, iron will, immense physical strengths and highly intelligent mind. I am a tiny bit obsessed with her. Tony is the epitome of alpha hero. He may have been broken but he has not lost his sexy arrogance, swoonworthy protectiveness and edge of dominance. Together they are explosive. They fight and force. They battle and mate. They make the most epic power couple. Elliot didn't need a savior but she did need a partner who will stay with her at every step. Tony didn't need someone to help him but he needed a partner to make him forget his darkness and be alive again. The chemistry was so sinful and so dirty. It was full of twists and turns and there was not a single boring moment.
.
If you love military romance, Kennedy L. Mitchell is a must read Author for you and Covert Vengeance is a must read book.

Oh Wow!! What an action packed book!

This story had me engrossed from chapter one!

CIA agent Elliot Smith is on a undercover op that goes south, she is rescued by a team of SEALs and is unconscious during her rescue so never knows who her rescuer was. Sr. Officer Tony “Flakes” Hackenbreg is haunted by that night, fast forward a year or so and these two feisty characters are brought together for a shared goal.
I’ll be honest I didn’t think I would like Tony after reading book 1, he came across as a womaniser, but Oh My Word! How wrong was I ! He was addictive, underneath the tough exterior he had a huge heart, don’t get me wrong he was an alpha-hole as Elliot described him but he was one HOT alpha-hole lol
Elliot was a fantastic crazy character! She gave as good as she got, wasn’t afraid to compete against the tough SEALs, she was strong, funny, and matched Tony’s personality.

This is a gripping military romantic suspense storyline with plenty of twists & turns, the romance was hot! *fans self*, and it was great to catch up with Gabe & Lucia.

Only problem I had with this story was….I wanted more!! I could read about Tony & Elliot forever!

WOW! Damn the adrenaline in this book!
This book keeps you on your toes! Elliott is this rambunctious kick-ass officer who holds no bars. She takes her missions seriously and quite honestly has nothing to lose so gives it her all. Until her last mission where she was blind sided and everything went haywire.

Tony is miserable after going through a divorce his life is in the gutter, last mission to him was a disaster he’s trying everyday to overcome but it’s taking a toll on him. Until the next assignment is in play and he’s questioning how this feisty beautiful women is going to obey his orders.

The dynamic between Elliott & Tony is so good, the competitiveness and protectiveness is perfect for them, they’ve each found their perfect match in each other.

This book just gets better with each subsequent read.

I remember being wary of this book when I initially started reading it, thanks to Tony being an egoistical tantrum throwing brat, but damn I ended up reading this book thrice bact to back ,within a span of one and a half month because I couldn't get enough of Tony and Elliott.

Elliott is a brand of crazy that would instantly make anyone fall in love with her, if one is into cray cray girls. She is a badass and surprisingly is more level headed while carrying out missions than Lucia. While Lucia irritated me with her constant "striving to prove having the biggest balls" attitude (which complicated things...like the situation with spying on Frank), Elliott won me over instantly with her unapologetically being herself persona. She literally became one of my favourite FMC. She knew she's a badass, and didn't constantly do something to prove that. Her story was painful to read, and I am in awe with her strength and resilience.

Tony won me over in this book. Though his personality change came due to trauma, it did make him more mature and seasoned. He was more than worthy for Elliott, a thing I thought I wouldn't say to him due to his cheating and playboy ways but yeahhhh he won me over, so much so that by the end of the book I started loving him more than Gabe.
It was damn beautiful to see Tony and Elliott, two damaged people fall in love with one another and be protective of one another.
This book turned out to be a priceless gem for me💖💖

Once again this author knocks it out the park! This was another fabulous read that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page, I read it in one sitting. It has fabulous characters that keep you mesmerised and entertained the whole way through, then you are spat out at the end wondering what you are going to do with your life now that the book is finished! Do yourself a favour and grab this book, it’s another one that will be added to my favourite of the year, wish I could give more than 5*.

4.5 stars—COVERT VENGEANCE is the second instalment in Kennedy L Mitchell’s contemporary, adult SEALS and CIA erotic, military, romantic suspense cross-over series. This is CIA agent Elliot Smith, and US Navy SEAL Tony Heckenbreg.COVERT VENGEANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, there may be trigger for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Elliot and Tony) COVERT VENGEANCE follows in the aftermath of a mission in Colombia that went all to h*ll. Eight months earlier, CIA agent Elliot Smith, and her partner Kurt found themselves the victim of a possible mole. Beaten and broken, Elliot would be rescued but not before witnessing the death of fellow agent Kurt. Fast forward to present day wherein, Elliot finds herself desperate to return to business, having spent eight months in rehab in an effort to repair what she didn’t think was broken. Enter US Navy SEAL Tony Heckenbreg, and the man with whom Elliot would fall in love. Given the go ahead to return to Columbia to finish the job, Elliot and Tony would come face to face with the ghosts and demons from their past, ghosts once long thought buried and gone. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Elliot and Tony, and the potential fall-out as Elliot is, once again, the target of some pretty powerful people, people determined to break our heroine beyond repair.

Tony Heckenbreg struggles to live every day in the wake of losing so many men of his last mission but our hero never expected to be pulled back into the world where everything spiralled out of control, a world in which he was about to become guardian and protector of a woman who is determined to take down everyone that had ever done her harm. Elliot Smith lost everything eight months earlier but never suspected a possible mole in the CIA. Battered, bruised, abused and betrayed, Elliot is desperate for revenge but not before facing the man who has all but destroyed her life.

The relationship between Elliot and Tony begins as a working relationship one in which the CIA must work together with the US Navy SEALs but Elliot’s usefulness to the CIA is questionable on so many levels that no one is sure just who is the enemy, or if anyone have their backs. As Elliot finds herself under the protection of the our story line hero, Tony finds himself pulled into the aura of the woman with whom he is falling in love, a woman who is unaware of Tony’s connection to our heroine’s past. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

We are reintroduced to Gabe Wilcox and Lucia Rizzo ( A Covert Affair 1), SEAL Lieutenant Brandon ‘McLovin’ Lovell, CO Williams, CIA agent Kurt, and arms dealer Rico Suarez. I am looking forward to McLovin’s story line.

COVERT VENGEANCE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, torture and abuse, power and control. The premise is raw and real; the romance is captivating, emotional and heart breaking; the characters are broken, desperate but trying to heal. Kennedy L Mitchell pulls the reader into an exciting and heart pounding look at two people seeking reparations for sins of the past.

"You be my compass, and I'll be your weapon."

"A flash in the pan. That's all we are. Even if I would give anything to turn our flash into an infinite blaze."

Covert Vengeance was such a great read! I loved this romance, but it also had a mystery thriller twist to it too. Elliot Smith is a CIA operative, on leave after a mission gone wrong. She's feisty and sassy, confident without being too over the top, persistent, and ridiculously resilient. I love how the author writes Elliot as a tough character, but who's not too jaded even though life has thrown her some crazy curves. She has a great sense of humor, and her competitive drive somehow makes her endearing and not too brash. She's given the opportunity to go on a mission again, this time to bring down the arms dealer who killed her partner and a team of SEALs who were out to rescue her 8 months ago. Going along on the mission with her is Tony Hackenbreg, who unbeknownst to Elliot, is the leader of the SEAL team who was sent in to rescue her.

I LOVE these two characters. Elliot was so strong, but underneath that exterior lies vulnerability and just a real desire to survive. She's been alone all her life, and after working for such a gruesome organization, she feels so expendable. Tony himself is also struggling with massive guilt, just for the fact that he's alive but his team has died, leaving him broken and physically scarred. You can't help but feel for these two characters, who've honestly been really alone and just looking for someone to understand them. They're both loyal and feel such responsibility for their work, but always at the expense of their own wellbeing. I like how they didn't need each other to complete who they are, as they both have successful careers and ambitions. But I did appreciate that Tony was there to support and protect Elliot (since she's never had that in her life), and Elliot was able to help Tony enjoy life again, where he didn't have to hide from his painful life. Watching Elliot take control of life inspires Tony to do the same. I can't say how much I enjoyed the story and reading about both of these characters!

Although this was a 5 star read, and I enjoyed the book as a whole, I still would've liked some more info about Tony's home life/childhood/marriage and another epilogue. Let me see a baby Hackenbreg!

Wow! The beginning was certainly full of drama and action and introduces Elliot really well. Before I knew it I’d become fully immersed in the storyline and was ready to fight battles with the lead characters Elliot and Tony.

Such an interesting concept where a navy SEAL, Tony, and a CIA operative, Elliot, join forces to bring down the evil character. Mind you there were times when I wondered if some of the CIA characters weren’t on the evil side too, they completely lit my rage to boiling point. That’s the thing with this author, she has you experiencing every emotion with each character and for them too. You literally can’t help but be one hundred percent invested in the characters and the story.

Tony is a SEAL who has suffered both in his past and the present. His scars are both physical and emotional and weigh him down terribly. He’s a great guy but with a painful history. Elliot is a crazy, sassy CIA operative who gets the job done—her way! I totally loved her and knew straight away she’d be perfect for Tony! Their chemistry was off the charts but as they got to know each other better their understanding of each other becomes much deeper.

When things heat up they become explosive! The drama and action is absolutely mind-blowing with non-stop scene after scene. So basically, that’s the whole way through the book! I love the twists and turns that make things even more exciting. Trying to piece together who the mole is was another blast as well as just thinking about how things could be solved.

I loved every bit of this incredible story and totally recommend it to everyone.

This book is going down as one of my top reads of 2021. Yes, I loved it that much. When Kennedy Mitchells latest series Seals & CIA I knew it was going to be amazing, and I wasn’t wrong. We meet Elliot Smith on her mission in Columbia, and to say this woman is a badass is actually putting it lightly. She is seriously fierce, tough and so strong. Strong physically but also emotionally. As her mission is set to complete and the SEALS are coming in for backup it all goes sideways. Elliot is saved by a mystery SEAL. In comes SEAL leader Tony Hackenberg. He lost good men months back and is wallowing in his despair. When a mission comes around that could pull both Tony and Elliot from their darkness together we are sent on an intensely covert and steamy operation.
When I said that Elliot was a badass it wasn’t a joke. She loves weapons, and can blow things up and kill a man so many ways it makes my head spin. She is FEISTY. Seriously and so darn whitty. She comes across as fearless and has never allowed herself to think she will have an actual partner and love. Because of that she keeps pretty much everyone at arm's length and doesn’t grow attached.
Tony hasn’t had it easy. Divorced and stuck in his own head he drowns himself in the bottle until his friends pull him out of his funk. In my mind Tony embodies everything I envision a SEAL to be. He is tough, driven, fast moving, emotionally tough and stealthy. In his case it doesn't hurt that he is also very hot.
When the pair finally get together it is STEAMY. Holy cow. There isn’t a lot of on page action, so to speak but when it is my Kindle almost melted. And Tony is a total alphahole that takes charge in the best way possible. He sees Elliot for who she really is and supports her professionally and personally in the best way possible. And the nicknames, they were on point! There is a lot of witty and funny banter between all of the characters, too! If you love a mission heavy book with a lot of chemistry and amazing side characters then this is the book for you! I thoroughly enjoyed every single page of this book. I found myself really slowing down and savoring this book! Five star read for me all the way. I CANNOT recommend this book enough!

Covert Vengeance is the raw, emotional and also wildly funny telling of two badass characters, CIA office Elliott Smith and SEAL Tony Hakenbreg and it was definitely worth the lost sleep.

Whether it's the years in the field, the botched mission, or simple genetics, Elliott Smith is as unpredictable as a downed power line, whipping about with deadly sparks flying everywhere. She's a wicked smart CIA officer with a crazy streak as big as Texas and penchant for blowing stuff up. Not one to ever lower her guard, she's known for laughing in the face of pesky things like feelings. She's all business, you know except for a few naughty jokes and the not so occasional bomb. But the SEAL she's paired up with on her mission makes her feel all the things. Despite her epic levels of resistance, this badass doesn't stand a chance!

Tony's body is healed from that deadly night in the jungle but his head is still all messed up from the mission that killed his men. When he's given the opportunity to head back to the jungle and take out the madman responsible for so many deaths, there is no question, he's the man for the job. Partnering up with any CIA officer would normally have him on edge but Elliott feels like she was made for him. Her crazy matches his and it's a beautiful and fulfilling thing.

Oh my damn, this book was everything. One minute I was on the verge of tears for all that happened to these two amazing people, then I'm laughing at yet another random thing flying from Elliott's mouth, then on the edge of my seat with the suspense. My kindle almost overheated from their undeniable chemistry. I especially liked that Elliott could safely allow herself to take a backseat in this area. Wink wink. I've just purchased a bunch of others by this phenomenal author...I'm going in! This book was fantastic and I'm happily falling down the rabbit hole of all her stories! I'll see you on the other side!

He’s a great guy but with painful history.

The drama and action is absolutely mind-blowing with non stop scene after scene. So basically, that’s the whole way through the book! I love the twists and turns that make things even more exciting. Trying to piece together who the mole is was another blast as well as just thinking about how things could be solved.

I loved every bit of this incredible story and totally recommend it to everyone.

Kennedy L. Mitchell has taken romantic suspense to a whole new level. In Covert Vengeance, we see how to broken souls become the perfect badass couple. Both Elliot and Tony have seen their fair share of the best and worse in mankind.
Elliot, a CIA officer, can hold her own against any man. Her scars run deep. Not just from her missions but her childhood as well. Relationships are not a thing that she can handle. She is not one to get personally close with those around her. She is all business. That is until she is sent on another mission.
Tony, a Navy SEAL, is a self described a$$hole and is far from relationship material. He is on top of his game until a mission goes wrong. Loaded with self doubt and “survivor’s remorse” he needs to keep his head in the game. He refuses to let people in until he finds himself on a mission that with the one person that understands the darkest places of his soul.
Their mission is personal. Both Eliot and Tony have Vengeance has a goal while keeping their minds clear of heat between them. They understand each others demons and damaged souls. Kennedy was written an amazing story that captures the gut wrenching emotions while keeping the level of chemistry at a high ended level. I highly recommend getting to know Elliot and Tony. Their story will grab you at every emotional turn. I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine and were not influenced by the author or her promotional team.

Kennedy L Mitchell is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. She has a way with words that sucks you in and you want to savor every word so that the book never ends. But at the same time, you want to speed through it because it’s that good.

This is book two in her Seals and CIA series, and she makes a guy that I disliked with a passion in book one into a guy that I couldn’t get enough of Sr. Officer Anthony “Flakes” Hackenbreg and his connection with Elliot “Half-Pint” Smith. These two have a connection that Elliot isn’t aware of, and Tony doesn’t want her to know. They start working on a new mission together in order for them both to get closure on a previous mission that left them both injured.

I loved the back and forth, the intense moments that they share. The relationships that they have with the previous books hero and heroine, and the fact that they both have fears of love and commitment but feel this unyielding response to one another.

I don’t want to spoil anything in this book, because you truly just need to read it. But the twist that happens…I didn’t see it coming. If you have yet to give Kennedy L. Mitchell a chance, you need to. You do NOT need to read book 1 of this series to follow along, it is a true standalone, but you can see just how far Tony has come in his personal growth if you do.

Covert Vengeance is the second title in the Seals and CIA series but can easily be read as a standalone. Kennedy L Mitchell is one of my go to authors any time I want to dive into a romantic suspense and this title does not disappoint. When a mission goes wrong this pair are desperate for revenge and answers.
Tony is a Navy SEAL who is grieving, broken, and lost. His confidence has taken a bit of a battering, but he’s still a competitive, determined, and protective alpha, who’s capable of getting the job done.
Elliot, is an intelligent, fierce, strong resilient CIA operative. This heroine is also more than a little crazy, and I loved that she’s so capable, and doesn’t need a man, that’s just a bonus for her.
The chemistry and attraction between this headstrong and complex pair is undeniable. Their banter and interactions are fun, flirty, antagonistic, sarcastic, and steamy.
This title is full of action, intrigue, suspense, and emotion and I was captivated from beginning to end.

Covert Vengeance is book two in the Seals and CIA series by Kennedy Mitchell, but I read it as a stand alone and had no issues. Yes, some secondary characters clearly come from the first book, but the plot of Covert Vengeance is structured in a way that gives you all the information you need about them anyway, and you can follow the story without missing any crucial piece of information.

I loved Covert Vengeance for the almost non-stop action and for the interesting twists and turns. The romance between Elliot and Tony? Well, that took me a bit longer to digest and I'm still not sure I'm fully convinced. It's all too much too fast, in my opinion - and that includes the a-bit-over-the-top sex scenes.

Overall, it's a good book especially for romantic suspense and military romance fans, but I don't think it deserves more than four stars.

This book!! I was instantly hooked on Covert Vengeance from the beginning to the end. The storyline is so addicting, so are the characters and I just couldn’t help but fall in love. And kudos to Kennedy L. Mitchell for doing an excellent job with redeeming Officer Tony Hackenbrag. Because I wasn’t a big fan of his in Covert Affair however my opinion has definitely changed. He’s a smoking hot Navy SEAL and Elliot is a force, sarcastic, bad a$$ CIA agent with Lara Croft type skills. Their is so intense and at times my heart clenched. And the sexual tension between them had me on edge and they seriously know how to burn up the sheets!!

I couldn’t put Covert Vengeance down and I really didn’t want it to end. If you’re looking for an action packed, suspenseful, hot romance with a good twist then this is definitely the book for you.

Sr. SEAL officer Tony Hackenbreg and CIA officer Elliot Smith meet under crazy circumstances on a failed mission. Months later both are trying to cope with loss and memories from that faithful night when life gives them a chance to get the vengeance they both desperately want. What they weren’t expecting is to feel so hard for each other. Will these feelings jeopardize their vengeance?
Tony and Elliot are one hot, crazy, strong as hell couple! With these two nothing is easy or boring, her sense of humor and his grumpiness is the perfect mix to balance out all the action that is packed in their story. I was entertained from the beginning and the ending didn’t disappoint. All in all, I enjoyed this book and recommend it if you enjoy action packed, steamy romance.

I am in LOVE with Elliott’s crazy psychotic ass!! Seriously this book could have only been about her & her adventures & it would still get 5 stars! Seriously I loved her. She is hands down my favourite character of Kennedy’s. It will take a lot to top Elliot!

But I also loved Tony! The connection, chemistry & banter these two had made this book such a great read! Plus both of them are complete badasses! I will say the ending only slightly surprised me but I loved the entire plot of this book. I hope we get more of these two in future books because I love them & their crazy insane ways & I want more!
