I never thought of myself as dad material. Until my one-night stand showed up in my small Alaskan town five months pregnant.
But I don’t shy away from responsibility. First, because I’m a Greene and not to boast but we’re kind of a big deal in Sunrise Bay. Second, I’m the Sheriff.
I couldn’t have predicted how protective I’d become for the safety of her and my unborn baby to the point of asking her to move in with me and be my roommate.
Just when I think I have the situation under control, another surprise knocks me over, but it only spurs me to double down.
I’ll be the first to admit, I didn’t think it through. Somewhere between the dinners, the TV show binging, the doctor appointments, and me walking in on her naked, lines blurred.
In what feels like warp speed, my bachelor for life status is in jeopardy and I’m fighting for the most important thing of all—my family.
Piper Rayne is a USA Today Bestselling author duo. Our goal is to bring you romance stories that have "Heartwarming Humor With a Side of Sizzle" (okay...you caught us, that's our tagline). A little about us... We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.
My Unexpected Surprise is boring. I was expecting much morebfron Miss Rayne. Alas, I was left disappointed. The story is not bad. It is just bland. It needs more kick on the twist/ plot.
The chemistry between the characters is lukewarm with a standard conversation and banter. Again, feel disappointed.
never heard of the author(s) until now, but i stumbled upon this book out of the blue and immediately felt the cover, the title, and the blurb calling to me. so i read it.
it went just about as well as i predicted - nothing special, nothing new. not that it was an issue. since i was mostly reading the book to pass time and for the familiar trope.
i dont remember how old the H was exactly, but i’d guess he was in his 30s. as such, i thought it was rather far-fetched (pitiful & embarrassing) that he’d sworn off women because he couldnt deal with the loss of his mom whos been dead for more than a decade.
not that i know what it feels like to lose a parent (thank God). i suppose it could also be that he was jaded cause of his job (hes a Sheriff). in any case, theres that.
theres also a scene where the H helps shower and shave the h’s legs since she cant do it on her own while pregnant, and idk why i thought that was really sweet. so theres that.
Fisher and Allie have a one night stand that results in a pregnancy unbeknownst to him, that is until he runs into her five months later....WOWSER! Now didn't that spark your interest. Piper and Rayne have done it yet again. They have given us a fresh take on a tried and true trope that we can't get enough of....Surprise you're pregnant!
Fisher is the town of Sunrise Bay's Sheriff and although he does enforce the laws he used to enjoy breaking a few of them as a teenager....don't you just love a good guy with a little bad boy in him...and Allie works at the town's hospital as a nurse.
I loved the chemistry between Allie and Fisher, but what I loved even more than that was watching Fisher realize he'd do anything to have Allie and this Unexpected Surprise in his life.
I had the pleasure of listening to this audiobook last week because it released before the eBook did and I am sooo glad I did because the Narration by Jason Clarke and Kelsey Navarro was outstanding!
If you enjoy Steamy Contemporary Romances, Second Chance Romances, Surprise Pregnancy Romances, Large Family Romances, or Small Town Romances I would recommend this book to you as well as the entire series.
**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books** I also preordered the eBook and purchased and listened to the audiobook when it released early You can find me here: https://linktr.ee/NadineBookaholic
why does pregnancy romance suck but single parent romances rock?
this was an ok book, the problem is that pregnancy romances for some reason are so boring! but cute romance, the grandma was fun, small-town was entertaining.
Yet another heart-squeezing, magical Greene Family story! My Unexpected Surprise is delightfully swoony, adorably funny, and brimming with feels. Charming and lovable from beginning to end. I can't get enough of the Greene brood- they've enchanted me with their antics and sincerity. But Unexpected Surprise is my favorite yet!
My Unexpected Surprise was the fifth book in the Greene Family series by the authors Piper Rayne. The series was best read in order.
My Unexpected Surprise began exactly where the previous book, My Sister’s Flirty Friend, left off. And what a cliff hanger it was! The surprise was exactly what you’d expect, a pregnancy, but not everything was as expected. And this time, this Greene has time to prepare. The authors took us through the Bachelor fear, frenemies, attraction and the development in how to co-parent. It was well written with some humor - and some aggravation too, but all in all, it was entertaining and enjoyable. Posey is up next in My Famous Frenemy!
So much love for My Unexpected Surprise by Piper Rayne.
From start to finish I was entertained and I couldn't put it down.
I enjoyed getting to watch the relationship between Fisher and Allie develop, I loved them together and how they both brought comfort, love and respect into their lives. These two made me laugh, swoon and left me with a happy and full heart.
Overall, My Unexpected Surprise is a wonderful addition to the Greene Family series.
Another heartfelt read by the very talented duo Piper Rayne.
Five months after Fisher ghosted Allie after their ONS, Allie and Fisher run into each other at the hospital. Allie is working. Fisher is visiting his niece after breaking her arm. When Fisher sees Allie he is a little bit more than surprised to see that she is quite pregnant. When he confronts her, Allie quickly confesses that the baby is his. But dear little Fisher you don't get to be mad since you ignored Allie's calls when she tried to tell you.
I think one of my favorite things about this book is that there wasn't a lot of drawn out drama for drama's sake. This is a story of two people who have a plan for their life, a dream for how they hope their life will be - both very different plans/dreams - but one single night derails those plans and gives them something even better and more beautiful than they could have imagined. A story about letting go and realizing the perfect in the imperfect of how life really is. I feel like I say this with each one but I think Fisher and Allie just might be my favorite of the Greene family.
I definitely loved Fisher's story after reading Jed's story. I think the series definitely is starting to pick up and I can't wait for the next books in the series already. The characters are already my most anticipated ones to read their story because they're teased a lot in this book.
Fisher and Allie's story is another one I couldn't put down. It's the norm now for me with any of Piper Rayne's books. I loved that it's very realistic and honest. Especially Fisher's side of the story. I loved that he has reservations about relationships and he was honest about it. He knew what Allie wanted, the whole fairytale and to be swept off her feet. I loved that they don't act on their feelings until they're sure that's what they want. But fret not, once they're in, they're all in! Especially Fisher, that just made me love him so much more.
Of course, the meddling grandmas. They're meddling as per usual, nothing different there. But I think they're more aggressive in pushing the two of them together. They were not even being subtle about it and I loved it. I'm definitely looking forward to Carla and Xavier's story. But it will not come until later. Posey and Gavin's story is next and I can't wait for it too.
"I guess sometimes you get what you want without ever knowing you wanted it in the first place. " Fisher Greene This quote sums up Fisher and Allie's story. Fisher Greene is a rough and tumble sheriff who has put a huge wall around his heart. He doesn't believe in happily ever after or in true love. Those things died when his mother did. Allie, on the other hand, wants the fairytale, the knight in shining armor, and happily ever after. So, when a one night stand turns into an unexpected pregnancy, all pre- conceived ideas of true love get thrown out the door. There was a lot of character growth in this book and the family support system we've grown to love in this series. There's also a bit of mischief from Grandma Ethel and Dori to bring these two together.
Really enjoyable addition to the series!
I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this honest.
Fisher got the surprise of his life when he walked into the hospital. No, it wasn't a horrible accident (thank God), rather his former ons looking very…shall we say with a bun in the oven. Actually surprise is an understatement for the man who doesn't do more than one offs. He's long held the belief that nothing good comes from love or commitment, so how is he going to be a good parent? Surprising himself and Allie, though, his protective instincts take over, and now she's being moved in so he can take care of her and their soon to come baby. Will forced proximity reveal the strong feelings he was running from?
Oh God but I loved Fisher and Allie! I just knew the man was hiding some pain and wasn't the jerk he seemed to be when he ghosted Allie. And Allie, that woman...so sweet and just trying to guard her heart from more pain. My Unexpected Surprise is classic PR - sweet, emotional and seriously steamy - my very favorite kind of story. Now I can't wait for more Greenes falling head over heels.

A one night stand with consequences is one of my favorite romance tropes, so My Unexpected Surprise was right up my alley and Piper Rayne delivered big time with this story. A man afraid to let anyone get too close after losing his mother at age 10 and a woman who has always wanted a fairytale love; complete opposites when it comes to the matters of heart, but one thing they do agree on they plan to be the best parents they can be to the child they created on their one night together.
When Fisher sees Allie again at the hospital she used to work at and notices she’s pregnant, he knows he’s responsible. When Allie confirms it, he’s a bit angry that she didn’t tell him until she reminds him that she called and left messages he never returned. He had a reason for that, one that in his mind was a good one, but now all he can think about is keeping Allie and the baby safe.
While there was no doubt fatherhood wasn’t something Fisher ever planned on, once he knew he really stepped up to the plate. He is there for Allie in all ways even moving her into his home when her apartment is flooded. It was interesting to see the often gruff sheriff become a big old marshmallow over his baby mama. Fisher did fight domestic bliss as he is convinced that’s not something he wants or will allow but with each day it becomes evident his feeling towards Allie are more than friendship he just has no idea how to deal with them.
The last thing Allie ever expected was to be single and pregnant, but that’s what the universe threw at her and she’s making the best of it. She feels bad that Fisher found out the way he did, but she also knows that’s on him. Yes, she could have shown up at his job or his home and made him listen but she knew Fisher doesn’t do commitment or family so what was the point. She’s a bit taken aback by his sudden over protectiveness and his demanding ways, but knowing the story about his mom’s death helps her to understand him even more
I enjoyed watching these two who really didn’t know one another well learn so much as they went through the last half of Allie’s pregnancy together. They both were cautious; Fisher because he didn’t want to have feelings and Allie because she wanted her happily ever after, but in being honest they both found a respect and admiration for each other that built as did their feelings. It might have been a bit of a romance in reverse, but they got there in their own time and for them it worked.
As always Piper Rayne brings in all the crazy of a large family, some senior hijinks, sexy times, and a bit of a heart stopping twist that added just the right amount of angst to set everything straight.
My Unexpected Surprise was a delight and joy to read; it wasn’t a typical romance but it was nonetheless a perfect one.
My Unexpected Surprise by Piper Rayne was just wow from every side. The sex. The feels. The angst. The swoon. The family love. The beauty of small town. Fisher and Allie started at a rocky place but their journey was so memorable and heartfelt. . Sunrise Bay's tattooed bad boy sheriff Fisher Greene stay away from committed relationships because he is scared to get hurt. But fate has other plans in store for him. Things change when he finds out that Allie, the nurse in Lake Starlight and his friend and his one night stand months back is pregnant and he is the father. He needs to control her life to keep her safe but Allie is sceptical about being with him. . I just loved how Allie refused to give in to Fisher's crazy demands and never agreed to anything without a fight. She knows what she wants from life and she thought Fisher cannot be her happily ever after because his playboy reputation. She was guarding her heart but slowly she realized that Fisher is not here for baby( rather BABIES) only. I think it surprised Fisher himself too. He had high walls and he thought he could keep Allie at a comfortable distance. But Allie broke in with her sweet and sassy attitude. Fisher is the epitome of alpha over protective and over possessive hero. He is so hot and sexy but his heart is hotter. My heart was breaking for this gorgeous man who stayed away from love because of his past. But this surprise pregnancy made them both face their fears. They slowly became friends to partners to life mates. The fun and adventurous plans of the grandmothers and the loud and loving family's affection always add to the beauty of Piper Rayne's stories. And this was no exception. . I don't think I will ever have enough of Piper Rayne's small town romance. They create such a magical experience and I never want to leave. . I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
Fisher and Allie had an one night stand 5 months prior to this book, which resulted in a pregnancy. Fisher is a non-commitment kind of guy and Allie is the prince charming fairytale type of gal. On paper they would never work out, but somehow the attraction is of the charts. Can they make it as a family or is their way of living too far apart?
This was another great addition to the Greene Family series. I really liked Fisher, although he might rub you the wrong way in the beginning of the book. We got to read about his background, so you learn where his ideas and believes are coming from. This makes him more likeable, in my opinion. Allie has a different past and isn’t familiair with a big family as Fisher is. The Greene’s welcome her with open arms, but I liked to have seen more interaction with her and Marla. Being told in dual POV it’s clear why Fisher acted the way he did after the ONS. It hurt Allie and I would’ve liked to read more about her feelings and him groveling when she told him. A bit more angst would’ve suited the story. The book centers around the main couple, but also shows the stages in the relationship of the previous couples without too much details. I like that! A few bread crumbs are dropped for the upcoming couples. Although Posey and Gavin are next, I’m most anxious to read about Xavier and Clara! Can’t wait until their book releases.
I liked Fisher and Allie more as a couple than Jed and Molly from the previous book. My favorite couple is still Nikki and Logan though.
***Safety spoilers👇🏻*** Safe read. Nothing mentioned about their past and if they were with OP after their ONS. 5 month separation. No cheating, OW/OM drama or sex with OP.
5 Star Review My Unexpected Surprise (The Greene Family #5) by Piper Rayne
It was great being back with the Greene family in Sunrise Bay, Alaska. This is Fisher and Allie’s story and was a great addition to the story. Finding out a one night stand has left you a soon to be father was a shock for Fisher., however he is of course a Greene, therefore he does the right thing and steps up.
Fisher has always been a bachelor, a bit of a player but watching him slowly but surely fall for his baby mama made my heart melt. He has a lot of responsibility as the town Sheriff but nothing is as important to him as family.
The attraction that sizzles between Fisher and Allie was smoking hot and as their relationship developed it brought me to tears as well has smiling like a lunatic. I loved how supportive Fisher was with Allie, determined to be there to protect her and their unborn child.
As always the family all have an opinion which made for some entertaining moments. My Unexpected Surprises is a story of love and family and everyone’s willingness to do whatever they can for one another.
the sheriff in town is surprised when he saw his one night stand pregnant. after that night together, allie got pregnant and while she tried to reach out to fisher four months ago, his lack of reply told her everything she needed to know. allie is determined to raise her twins by herself. yes, twins. surprise again!
allie and fisher’s story is pretty interesting. having witnessed the death of his biological mother and knowing how love can hurt, fisher swore off commitments, relationships, and love. that is until he unexpected have babies with allie, and spending time with her made fisher wonder if he can love and be loved. only if the other person is allie. meanwhile, allie knows she shouldn’t be attracted to fisher. he might only be protective because she’s carrying his babies and he might only be flirty because he’s a flirty guy. slowly, though, allie falls for fisher despite knowing nothing will come out of it.
overall, i enjoyed the book! it was short, sweet, steamy. everything i want in a contemporary romance.
I have been waiting for sexy Fisher’s story since the series started and all I can say is, Fisher and Allie brought it home!
My Unexpected Surprise is a one night stand, accidental/surprise pregnancy, romance read. Allie and Fisher are on fire. Their off the charts attraction leads to an incredible night of naked nooky and one faulty condom later and they are expecting. Except, in true Fisher style, he avoids the one woman who he wanted more of and the opportunity to know of her pregnancy from the beginning. Fast forward four months and Fisher gets the shock of his life.
What I loved most about this book was watching the consumate ladies man and confirmed bachelor, fall in love with his baby mamma, kicking and screaming the entire time. Poor guy didn’t stand a chance! This is my favorite book of the series and left me with a satisfied smile on my face.
I’m giving My Unexpected Surprise the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
The Greene Family is very complex and each book they get to my heart. Fisher is the town sheriff and loves his annoying family, he decided long ago that he would neve get married or have kids. Allie is looking for a family and tried with Fisher but when he did not return her calls she gave up and moved on. However, she did not know that she would be a single mom! Not even Fisher who discovered her pregnancy months later. Now, they must cope with co-parenting and discover one another once again. This book is not sexy per se since it is more of a discovery, a journey for this couple to find themselfes. As always a lovely, wonderful book with so much love. I just loved it!
I never thought of myself as dad material. Until my one-night stand showed up in my small Alaskan town five months pregnant. I enjoyed this sweet romance between a man who wants no relationship until he knocks up his one night stand and moves her into his home. There wasn't any drama in this book it was just a predictable sweet romance and unfortunately I didn't feel much of a connection between the characters, I think this would be better if I had been following this series.
Fisher and Allie's story was everything I love in a story. Surprise pregnancy, small town vibes, protective hero and all the feels. This is my favorite of the series so far. When Fisher our grumpy no relationships Greene finds out he's expecting with an old hookup his world is turned off kilter. Children were never in the cards for him because he didn't want a family. Allie our feisty heroine wants the fairytale ending and an all consuming love. She and Fisher couldn't be any different. I loved seeing these two work on their issues to try and make it work. I really enjoyed Fisher grappling with his feelings for Allie and how to let her in his heart. This was an emotional one but so sweet. Piper Rayne upped the ante with this one. The cameos in this one were on another level and I'm here for it! I didn't want this one to end so excited for the next book!
Another great book in the Greene family series! I have said it before and will shout it for rooftops NOBODY writes small town family series better than Piper Rayne! This one touched my heart because the heroine and I have a pregnancy connection (no spoiler from me) I loved their story. I loved watching his walls crumble and fall in love. I loved her strength. Sweet heartwarming scenesand steamy hot scenes. I couldn't ask for more in a romance. Oh the next one is going to be fun!
He is an assh…, really, The book is funny but not romantic, ok, maybe only the last two chapters! Heroine is quite good, she always confronts him but after two minutes, she gave up, like always… He is too much hesitant Not for me Since the moment he knew her pregnancy, he thinks about his celibacy and single life too much for my taste, Sorry because this is the first time with this author but not my cup… sorry
The last quarter of this year was a big ball of ahhhhhh. Which made reading hard as my brain just couldn't focus and writing reviews was impossible. However with that said I did read a few books and if I don't add them here I'll end up adding them to my TBR a dozen or two times because of my goldfish memory.
