WOW JUST WOW! Brave Love is my favorite to date book by this dynamic duo, as Pippa was the perfect heroine in my eyes. She's the type of girl who has the biggest heart, who doesn't hold resentment, nor does she feel sorry for herself with her health issues for the most part. She's finally living her dream, but life takes a turn when she literally runs into the former SEAL Mason when she's trying to help his teenage daughter. These two have instant chemistry but he's slow to get with it since he doesn't want a relationship, but when something happens to her book store, the protective SEAL gene is activated so they get to know each other. However, it made me super sad that she really thought she would be a burden with the health issues because she would do anything for anyone. Of course things aren't easy, as something happens to have Mason step back from her, and this is the point that I really wanted to deck him to be honest because he hurt the perfect woman. Anyway, I'm not saying anything else so you'll just have to hit those one click buttons to see how it all pans out since I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I love this series so much! I go in knowing the book will be good and every time my expectations are exceeded. I teared up quite a few times. I even got mad.

Brave Love is Pippa and Mason's story.

Pippa is an independent woman who runs the local bookstore. She also happens to have epilepsy. Running an inclusive bookstore is her dream come true. When she finds a customer in need of help Pippa goes above and beyond to help the young teen. When she goes to search for the man... she runs right into the man, literally.

Former Navy Seal Mason Wright. His daughter is his main priority. But the curvy Pippa makes him feel things he hasn't felt in a long time. And when she protects his daughter during a dangerous situation it makes him want to protect her as well.

She's embarrassed when he and his daughter witness one of her more taxing seizures. But it doesn't keep the young girl from visiting Pippa even if Mason initially tries to stay away.

When Mason finally gives in, Pippa is afraid that her condition will be too much for him, even as she's falling hard and fast for him.

Can two perfectly matched people find the courage to fall in love?

Brave Love is another great read in the Shattered Cove series. Pippa and Mason are so well written. Mason is a tough-as-nails ex-Navy SEAL and hardened by past tragedies, rededicates his whole life to his daughter Aspen. All that changes when he meets Pippa, and while you’ll understand where his behavior stems from, it was hard to handle some of his actions towards her because she’s just that fantastic. She’s hard-working, determined, self-assured, kind and compassionate in the face of so much adversity and it just wasn’t deserved. I love the relationship that Pippa has with Aspen as well-the tenderness for and connection with a child that is struggling touched me personally.

I find myself saying this a lot with Kusi novels and I always leave feeling positive afterwards. BL deals with body image, sexual orientation, homophobia, and disabilities to name a few- which seems heavy (and it is) but it’s written in a way that not only shows how these topics can be hurtful, but positive ways in which they can be handled. It’s what I appreciate most about this author.

Absolutely loved it

I absolutely loved this book. It was light and sweet and such a difference from what I've been reading. Mason is such a good character even if he frustrates me. But it's a realistic frustration due to his actions, which are understandable.

I loved Pippa as a female lead and I loved that she had a disability because it's not represented in books enough. I enjoyed watching them work through struggles in very human ways, because everyone handles things differently.

I also loved Aspen, his daughter. She is sweet and sassy, and just adds so much life to the story. I thought the ending was a bit cliche, but hey this is a sweet contemporary romance, so I wasnt expecting anything less.

I didnt expect to love this story as much as I did though, and I'm so glad that i did. I really do think that i will be buying this in paperback as well to reread later.

" Lloyd Alexander: " Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it.""
I love this quote that Pipa uses in her book store The Oyster & many more📚

Pipa I love her mind soo much especially when she was helping Apsen about periods. Aspen is the daughter to Mason and he is a single dad. Pipa & Aspen connect so well and I love their bound so much. Mason is a hunky that is not afraid to take down armed man...no spoilers He was former SEAL & he carries scars...no spoilers
Pipa I wanted her to be my friend and her childhood heartbreaking

This book has everything and did nothing but made me smile. I had some tearful moments too !! This book to me is a slow friends to lovers romance. Perfectly slow pace if you know what I mean. HOT LOVE warning ❤🔥

This is a true happily ever after !!

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK. Yes, I am yelling it from the rooftops. This book was written beautifully with all the spiciness I love. WINK! WINK! It also has a heartwarming message with so many elements, I am still reeling.

Pippa is this full character who I want to meet. She is smart, real, kind, curvy girl with a fierce defender attitude I admire. You see her bravery early on in this book. She truly is a warrior with Lady, the best service dog ever. I will admit to getting emotional during moments when Pippa sees herself as a burden. Don’t believe her. Keep reading.

Mason is an awesome. I feel sad for him when he limits his life to only the role of dad. Having said that, his interactions with his brilliant 13 year old daughter makes me laugh. She is the best. His wounds make him act out at times but don’t give up on him. It is ok if you want to smack him a couple times though.

The use of Pippa’s bookstore as a place to embrace social justice and acceptance makes for a meaningful foundation to this story. Bullying, gender identity, medical differences and more all have a place in this telling. I was pleasantly surprised with all that occurred. One minute you think you have it all figured out and then bam something happens. Sooo flipping good.

The message of family, living your best life, and never limiting yourself is magically done in this story. Adding all the delicious romance makes for perfection. This book is more than five star worthy. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I am ever so glad I was introduced to A.M. Kusi's novels, because each one touches my heart one way or another. Each one has their own memorable message they send to readers all over the world, and I'm so glad these messages are being expressed in their books.

I love Pippa. She is amazing and sweet and UNDERSTANDING. She doesn't judge, she is always helpful, and she goes out of her way to make other people happy. If only we had more people like Pippa in the world, we would be in a better environment of acceptance and happiness. I can't imagine the life that Pippa has gone through. I want to hug her and keep her destressed forever so she won't go through that turmoil. I'm glad she has Lady to help her, though.

Mason. I've loved seeing this burly, grumpy guy throughout most of the novels in this series, so seeing him fall hard was so sweet. But he's a bit of a challenge, and he definitely showed that throughout this novel. I get his issues, but I also think that he didn't treat Pippa the way she deserved. He doesn't listen, especially when Pippa was trying to explain what happened. I love that he adores his daughter and would do anything for her - that's the way it needs to be. I just think he could have done things a lot differently so he wouldn't have hurt Pippa.

This book introduces so many characters that are lovable and I want to hug them all for their bravery and their independence and their will to live their life to the fullest. I'm so glad we are going to dive more into that viewpoint, a bit, in the next book, though I'm extremely sad that it will be the last in this series!

I think everyone should read this book, this series, because I'm pretty sure everyone would fall in love with the characters and their stories. I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel and I can't wait to see the next amazing story!

Brave Love was such a wonderful read. Pippa and Mason are so real and strong. I enjoyed following the journey of growth and forgiveness. Pippa is a great example of not letting physical limitations discourage you from achieving your dreams and goals. Mason is surely and closed off, but a complete teddy bear for his daughter. They both have some lessons to learn about letting help in.

Inspirational!

The character, "Pippa" is my heroine! She personifies the golden rule, Matthew 7:12 & Luke 6:31. Even when people were mean to her concerning her weight, race, illness or anything she only had kind words. She did not judge even when faced with adversity. Pippa accepted all love being equal. The story touched me to be kinder, gentler and accepting.
The love stories were a bonus. I enjoyed the love and respect "Aspen" was given and earned by Pippa and her friends. The romance of Mason and Pippa was hard fought and lots of lessons learned. The side themes were well received and written with care. The authors should be recognized for a well written and inspiring book.

This was my first introductions to The Shattered Cove series. Overall, there was a lot of good things within the novel, but there was just as much eh as well.

Pippa is a strong, plus-sized female. She has epilepsy, and it affects her day to day life. Mason is a veteran and single dad who has some issues with priorities and handling his feelings, or perceived failures. Both of these main characters are dealing with some pretty big emotional and mental issues, and not always in the best manner. At times it was a bit much.

One thing that was done throughout the book was inclusion. At times, it felt thrown into scenes that didn't make sure since to the plot or what was happening at that time. When it was pivotal and important to the story line, which did have a lot to do with discrimination (of all types), it was done remarkably well without being forced. Completely appreciate that; and there definitely needs to be more of it within novels as a whole. There was just a few scenes that made what could have been seamless, come across as choppy and forced at times.

Another amazing thing about this book was that it didn't shy away from Epilepsy, nor did it skim over it. It was made clear from the beginning this was a major aspect of her life, and it wasn't just touched upon here and there.

One thing I didn't love is the borderline volatile way each of the main characters handled things. They both had some growth, but, without spoilers, some of the events that happened the growth didn't match the timeline or events.

Pippa was very self deprecating and took on shame that she shouldn't have. She also kept using it was a shield, but when Mason used his own flaws as a shield she was the first to point them out and get upset about. Double standards = not cool, in my opinion... no matter whose doing it.

Mason was so lost in himself that he wasn't seeing the hurt he was causing everyone around him. Something he didn't learn even when those closest to him point it out - numerous time. I get change is hard, but there was little to no change; at least until the very end, which (again my opinion) is unrealistic. And so wasn't his dismissal of any emotions he, or those around him felt when he acted irrationally.

Where they had some very real, and very amazing scenes; they were overshadowed by these overly unrealistic ones. It made for a very meh experience as a whole. Overall, if I know someone who I feel could really enjoy this book I would recommend it. Or if they wanted a book with inclusion represented, or Epilepsy, I would 100% state this one ... as with those two topics this novel has been one of the best. But I would caution them to keep expectation neutral, because it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great.

Also, I pride myself on non-spoilers with my reviews - with this particular topic I am willing to break my own 'rule' - so please be warned... SPOILER

I am not a fan at all about unexpected pregnancy. It is one of those troupes that I have major feelings on - and that feeling is --- when it gets thrown in more than half-way through a novel it's because the author(s) are running out of steam and scenarios to keep the main plot rolling. I felt this here. While I could understand why, because it did tie into the Epilepsy; I also felt it unnecessary. Considering all that was going on, there was truly no need for this added drama.

This was my first book by this author and let me tell you I loved it. I don’t usually read book that are in the third person as they don’t manage to keep my attention. But I’ll admit this author did an amazing job as she kept me turning page after page. The amount of work and love she poured into this book is amazing! Love it when books include more real life issues or situation and mix cultures.

Mason is a former Navy Seal who’s wife died when their daughter was 3. His sole purpose in life has always been to make his daughter his number one priority and keep her safe. So when Poppy comes into the picture and loves his daughter as much as he does he’s happy. He see’s the amount of love and care she has for Aspen. Every time he gets slightly distracted by the curvy Latina he pulls away and hurts her and bu default Aspen too.

Poppy just want to independent, her and her service dog Lady. She doesn’t want her Epilepsy be a burden to her family anymore than it already has. Once she meets Aspen they become best friends, she protects her and is there for her when she needs another woman around. She thinks Mason is the sexy Single former navy seal that rules her dreams at night is worth the fight. Broke promise after broken promise she can’t take anymore hurt. She needs to look out for herself. But the more he’s there taking care of her after her episodes he’s melting her heart.

Read Poppy and Mason’s story and see how these two will go through challenges life throws at them. See how after so many times they get pulled apart they keep coming back stronger. I’ll definitely be going back to read the rest of the book from this series!

I'm not sure how A.M. Kusi pulls more emotion out of me with every book they write but Brave Love managed to punch me in the chest over and over again. And I'm not even mad about it.

When I say I love Pippa I mean L-O-V-E LOVE her. She is the epitome of badass female. Independent. Business owner. Resilient. Compassionate. Thoughtful. Inclusive. More than that she owned who she was. Faults, fears and all. And she wouldn't let anyone push her over. Even handsome, protective single dad, Mason.

Mason: broody with a capital B. He's been in the periphery of the other books in the series and seeing this grump meet his match was a true delight. Especially as he's trying his best to navigate the changing dynamic with his teenage daughter, Aspen. And the feelings Pippa stirs in him. It was when some incidents went down at Pippa's store that put Aspen in harms way, that things started to turn for them.

I enjoyed seeing Pippa rely on Mason, let him in. It was such a change for the woman who had been alone for so long. It was the relationship forged between Aspen and Pippa that melted my heart, Mason's too. But when an unexpected connection between them is brought to light, things got sticky.

Whew! Talk about a whirlwind. Pippa and Mason's unlikely romance tackled so many issues. Individuality. Respect. Inclusivity. Forgiveness. But at its core, this is a book about love in all its beauty. And that ending has me ready to head back to Shattered Cove!

Unexpectedly sweet

I had to take a moment and really reflect on this story. The writing was... a little above okay. Sometimes it came across as forced. But, I fell in love with the characters, especially Pippa and Aspen's relationship. There's was a sweet and naturally occurring relationship. Mason and Pippa's relationship was a little rough for me, not because it wasn't realistic. Trauma, guilt, and tragedy really mess with a person and their perception.

I think the author did a beautiful job of dealing with Pippa's disability. I believe this is the first time that I have read a book where one of the main characters has epilepsy. Pippa was a strong FMC. I loved that she didn't just roll over and let her epilepsy rule her life, she lived with it, she lived. I think I could also relate a lot more to Pippa seeing as she's of a Puerto Rican background (I, myself am Puerto Rican). It was really nice to see accurate information shared about my home.

I loved that Mason was also a strong lead. It's ingrained in society that men are to appear strong and unbreakable, Mason was beautiful. I didn't like the way he handled his emotions, his fear, his guilt, but I understood it.

I did start this series on the second to last book so, I'll have to go back and read the rest. I loved that this book had a little of everything representation-wise.

Although being book number seven in the series, I was able to follow and enjoy the story without reading any of the previous books. We do get to meet characters that are from the others in the series, but we are given enough details not to feel lost in the story.

I liked this book although there was a bit too many coincidences (okay, there was only really one, but it was a big deal) there near the end, but I get it because it adds drama to the story, and it’s fiction, it’s okay for the world to be too small.

What I really liked from the start is Pippa. She’s independent, strong, and compassionate. Every time Mason pushes her away, she doesn’t just automatically fall back into his arms the moment he says “sorry.” Now, Mason, he pushed Pippa more than a couple of times, each one worse than the last because he made bigger promises every time he says “sorry” and he didn't seem to learn anything each time he runs away because he kept doing it.

Do I believe in their HEA? Hmm, I believe that they’re happy now, and that Mason seems to mean that he won’t run away anymore, but we don’t really get to see that, Pippa just tells us that he hasn’t. Aside from wishing to see an actual difficult situation that Mason was able to handle without running, I did like reading this book and am interested to read the previous ones.

🔥🔥🔥

I've raved before about how much I just love this series. Each book touches on real life issues that people face everyday. Brave Love was no different.

Mason's a single father who's trying to give his daughter the best life possible. Pippa is plus size, Puerto Rican living with a chronic illness. They both have had tough lives that they are finally learning to navigate around. Meeting each other disrupts their carefully orchestrated lives.

I've loved Mason's character from the moment he was introduced to the books. Finally getting to learn about his past was everything I hoped it would be. He his big, burly and the sweetest teddy bear. Pippa is beyond confident in herself and nothing but a ray of sunshine wherever she goes. I love that she owns an inclusive bookstore to give everyone a place to feel safe and accepted. She refuses to allow her epilepsy to control her life and found a way to reach her dreams.

This book is emotional and steamy. The sexual attraction between Mason and Pippa goes of like fireworks. They both see the flaws in each other as another layer of beauty. I don't want to give too much away as these books work great as blind reads. If you love small town romance, single dads, chronic illness rep, lgbt+ rep, and little girls playing matchmaker for their dads this book will be a favorite.

Happy Pub Day Ash and Marcus!! Yall truly deserve the best for writing books that can touch a person's heart and clinch their thighs 😜 Thank you for including me in your ARC team!!!

This is the first book I get to read during a full ICU lockdown, meaning I got another kindle I leave at work so I can read during down time. I can’t fully concentrate fully geared up. Why am I saying this? I was able to get lost in this story and make my nights tolerable. This 6 star story had me hooked from the first page to the last one.

Pippa see’s her glass half full. She doesn’t let her condition bring her down. Mason has a lot of demons to battle. But the most important ting is his daughter. Pippa wasn’t suppose to be amazing in every way.

What got me addicted to this amazing story were the characters. They felt humain and real to me. I felt their challenges and struggles. They made me ride a roller coaster of emotions. A unique storyline that was captivating. There was never a dull moments, every word and action had it’s place and purpose. Beautifully written with a seamless plot. Bottomline this is a must read.

It can be safely read as a standalone. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

Brave Love is a book about second chances, forgiveness and family.

This book touched a lot of different topics which we see on a daily basis, but at the same time it made the story feel a little disorganized to me. Pippa is a sweet girl who owns every book nerd dream business: a bookstore. She's smart, funny, pretty, outspoken. She later on meets Mason, a handsome but scary man who makes her feel.

Mason has a teenage daughter who loves Pippa, but he's guarded because life hasn't been easy on them. Together they discover love and forgiveness until they find their happy ending.

Now, their story is not an easy one, they're both dealing with heavy issues, that's why I feel some twists were not really necessary, I won't get into them to keep a spoiler free review, and made the story drag a little.

Pippa and Mason both live in Shattered Cove, but have never really crossed paths. That all changes when Mason's daughter, Aspen, finds herself in need of some help in Pippa's book store. From there, Aspen will play matchmaker in bringing her father and Pippa together.

Mason & Pippa have an immediate attraction to each other. But, neither feels they want to enter into a relationship at this point in time. Pippa has epilepsy and doesn't want to be a burden to anyone. Mason is a single father who has one responsibility, his daughter. Neither one of them needs any distractions and this will be a constant struggle in the storyline.

This book does a great job of bringing awareness to inclusion, whether it be a disability, your race or the LBGTQ community. Pippa's Oyster Book Store is an inclusive and safe place for anyone. {She even hosts a drag queen story hour.} While these are all great talking points for a book, they did feel forced at times, like the authors were trying to squeeze in as much to the story as they could.
I enjoyed epilepsy being the main storyline and felt that would have been enough. I learned a lot and hadn't read that in any other book prior to this one. But, I also enjoyed that she did explore gender identity and sexuality with the kids, as so many are struggling with that today. Overall, it was a good read.

— Oh My. Where do I start? This was one book I dived into not really knowing what to expect. But after the long hours of keeping my nose stuck in my kindle I can tell you everything you will love and expect.

Brave Love has to be the most romantic, heart wrenching, and steal your soul reads you will ever come across. You are invited into the live of Pippa Wright, a gentle strong bookstore owner with the beliefs of putting good and love into the world while also living with her epilepsy, Mason Wright, who is a strong but broken ex Navy SEAL and his precious thirteen year old daughter, Aspen.

Watching this little family come together was such an experience I wish I could like through again. Books rarely make me cry but I shed tears through this one.

— On another note the spice in this was top tier. ;)

Geez, can AM Kusi never stop writing such emotional and phenomenal books? Just when I thought they couldn't top the previous books comes another beyond amazing addition to the series that I couldn't get over with. Reading Pippa and Mason's journey just made me feel so good. As always, AM Kusi books always have some messages behind every single story of theirs. This one is no less. Both Pippa and Mason are relatable and easy-to-love characters. They're just so strong and compassionate that they didn't let anything from fully living their lives. But that's not only it. Their chemistry was off-the-charts that made their story not only emotional but also steamy at times too. Just amazing!

Okay okay I have to admit Mason and Pippas relationship was cute but I still kind of resent Mason cause he let her down like 2 times and each times it was when she was going though a rough patch. Idk how I feel about how he abanded her when it was to much for him like how’s it gonna be in the future when things get rough is he going to run away again 🙁

One of the best books that I've read in 2022! This is a very inclusive book with is very refreshing within the genre. This was the most realistic and 'real-world' relationship romance book that I have EVER read! Pippa and Mason are normal people with normal, modern day issues. While some of their issues are a bit more intense, it ultimately brings them closer. Through every single up and down, I fell in love with every character even more. While this is #7 in the Shattered Cove series, I read it as a stand-alone but am now starting from #1. A.M. Kusi is the queen!

Brave Love is the first book I read by this author, and now I'm going to start at the beginning of the Shattered Cove series. I really enjoyed these characters. Pippa is a strong, independent woman living with epilepsy. Mason is a retired navy seal who is a single dad. These two butt heads and even had me in tears at one point. Thank goodness everything worked out because they deserved a happy ending.

The authors promise a happy ending to all of their stories and that is a huge comfort while I'm reading - especially for stories that involve romantic relationships. I thought the pacing was good and the balance between dialogue and action was really effective, I was very invested in the story. The chapters going back and forth between the two main characters was insightful and not confusing. I did tear up a couple times in the second half of the story but it's so worth it. The diversity and inclusion of the characters and in the story itself are so great to see. I'm looking forward to reading more!
