We’re thrilled to announce that Jetpack has acquired Social Image Generator, a WordPress plugin founded by Daniel Post.

Social Image Generator automatically creates social share images for your content, saving hours of tedious work. It creates images for all major social networks including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, VK, WhatsApp, iMessage, and Reddit. Simply share your content as you normally would, and the images will automatically appear.

The template editor feels right at home in WordPress. There are tons of different templates to choose from, and all of them are fully customizable. If you’re a developer, you’ll love Social Image Generator. With lots of filters and actions, you can customize every single aspect of your social images.

It’s the perfect complement to Jetpack’s social media tools which include automatic publishing of posts and products to sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Tumblr.

“When I initially saw Social Image Generator, the functionality looked like a ideal fit with our existing social media tools,” said James Grierson, General Manager of Jetpack. “I look forward to the future functionality and user experience improvements that will come out of this acquisition. The goal of our social product is to help content creators expand their audience through increased distribution and engagement. Social Image Generator will be a key component of helping us deliver this to our customers.“

Daniel will also be joining Jetpack to continue developing Social Image Generator and integrating it with Jetpack’s social media features. To the current customers of Social Image Generator, we want to say thank you for being early adopters and providing valuable feedback. You’ll be able to continue using it as you do today without any changes in the near term. If you’d like to influence the future of the product, please reach out and schedule some time to chat.

“I’m incredibly excited to join Jetpack and Automattic so I can continue to grow Social Image Generator and help more people in the WordPress community improve their social media presence and get their message out to their fans,” said Daniel.
