My latest at PJ Media:
Speaking at a 9/11 commemoration at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania, former President George W. Bush, who above all people should know better, made a veiled but unmistakable equation of the January 6 incident at the Capitol with the September 11, 2001, jihad terror attacks in New York and Washington.
“The security measures incorporated into our lives are both sources of comfort” – speak for yourself, George – “and reminders of our vulnerability.” That vulnerability was apparently laid bare anew during the January 6 events that the Left has worked so very hard to portray as an unprecedented, life-threatening attack on our “democracy” (it’s actually a republic, folks) as if they cared about that, and our way of life.
Bush continues: “We have seen growing evidence that the dangers to our country can come not only across borders, but from violence that gathers within. There is little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home, but then there’s disdain for pluralism, in their disregard for human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit, and it is our continuing duty to confront them.”
If Bush had been talking about Antifa and Black Lives Matter, he would have been right. And while there is some chance that he may have been, most observers believe that this was a veiled reference to the Left’s chief “extremists,” that is, Trump supporters. Supporting that interpretation is the fact that Bush was, in fact, one of the first to jump on the January 6 “insurrection” bandwagon, issuing this statement on the same day:
Laura and I are watching the scenes of mayhem unfolding at the seat of our Nation’s government in disbelief and dismay. It is a sickening and heartbreaking sight. This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic – not our democratic republic. I am appalled by the reckless behavior of some political leaders since the election and by the lack of respect shown today for our institutions, our traditions, and our law enforcement. The violent assault on the Capitol – and disruption of a Constitutionally-mandated meeting of Congress – was undertaken by people whose passions have been inflamed by falsehoods and false hopes. Insurrection could do grave damage to our Nation and reputation. In the United States of America, it is the fundamental responsibility of every patriotic citizen to support the rule of law. To those who are disappointed in the results of the election: Our country is more important than the politics of the moment. Let the officials elected by the people fulfill their duties and represent our voices in peace and safety. May God continue to bless the United States of America.
There is more. Read the rest here.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT? 20 years after declaring islam the “religion of peace” Trillions of dollars, tens of thousands of attacks, hundreds of thousands wounded and killed, and never once admitting the falsity of that lie, is anything this man says worth believing? “Fool me once: Shame on YOU. Fool me twice: SHAME ON ME!.” I voted for him twice because I supported him. Now I am deeply embarrassed that he was the lesser of evils. We have more reliable patriots to hear and join.

The January 6 protests were nothing but a vociferous protest against a stolen election and a sit-in to present a GRIEVANCE to Congress.
Many countries have much more vigorous protests than that when THEIR elections are stolen. The patriotic Americans at the Capitol were rather restrained by comparison!
The evidence of MASSIVE ELECTION FRAUD (in 15 different ways) will soon be available for George W. Bush and all other sceptics to read, after the Arizona legislators have been issued their copies of it.
The release of the Maricopa forensic audit will change Americans’ belief in fair elections forever. The 2020 election was indeed stolen by a collusion between the Dem Party insiders, Big Tech and Big Money. The story was REVEALED by Time magazine.
IT WILL BE TOTALLY DEVASTATING.

As usual, so many claims with no supporting evidence. As is the case with this so called stolen election; like everyone else I’m hoping that some real evidence comes from the inquiry.
My outsider impression of the weakness of US politics is the absence of middle ground, something to vote for when you don’t agree with either party.
“most observers believe that this was a veiled reference to the Left’s chief “extremists,” that is, Trump supporters.” Whoever, the storming of the Capitol was an international embarrassment & contemptible behaviour; “vociferous protest & sit-in”- bullshit! Someone died in this sit in, did they not??

Agree with FA: Bush Jr’s identification of Islam as ‘religion of peace’ was the height of naivety and the greatest insult to our intelligence. Bush’s CERTAINTY about a ‘benign Islam’ was either stunningly stupid or arrogantly cynical and an out-an-out, deliberate prevarication.
Bush Jr continues the GASLIGHTING of Americans by suggesting that HIS SPONTANEOUS expertise on Islam is BETTER than a studious, in-depth READING of canonical Islamic texts … the Sira, hadiths, Koran, canonical commentaries (tafsirs) and manuals of Sharia law.
Bush Jr cannot possibly be that naïve about Islam, but if he is, he is a notable example of the DUNNING-KRUGER EFFECT … the preposterous assumption by NEW LEARNERS that they have SPONTANEOUSLY LEARNED MORE than PhD’s who have devoted 20 to 40 years of study to a topic.
The D-K Effect is related to the COGNITIVE BIAS of ILLUSORY SUPERIORITY and comes from people’s INABILITY to recognize their LACK OF ABILITY.
My assessment today is that Bush Jr deliberately lied about Islam, being directed by his Arab friends and cronies in the oil business. To admit the truth: namely, that Islam is the religion of jihadic warfare against non-Muslims was BAD FOR BUSINESS … BAD for Bush’s OIL … BAD for the Arabs’ oil BUSINESS.
mortimer says
correction : BAD for Bush’s OIL BUSINESS …
gregbeetham says
Maybe there was an element of naivety and wishful thinking combined with ignorance but that assessment tends to bypass the fact that he was in a position of great responsibility to the American people and was guilty of misleading everyone at the time and he hasn’t improved since then with his outlandish comparison of the 9/11 WTC destruction by Muslim suicide hijackers to a loud but essentially harmless demonstration on 6/1.
Essentially GWB should quite committing self harm in public, and so should Biden and the rest of the fools in the administration.
mortimer says
To Greg: I think it is Bush’s WILLFUL BLINDNESS … Nazi Albert Speers was asked if he knew about Nazi atrocities and he replied, ‘I could have known if I had wanted to know.’ Bush was just like that: he shielded himself from responsibility by adopting WILLFUL BLINDNESS about canonical jihadism.
Bush had a duty to inform himself about jihadism and taqiyya and the near-enemy doctrine and other Islamic teachings, but instead he chose to WHITEWASH Islam.
Bush chose NOT to ‘know the enemy’ … so Americans entered a period of defeat after defeat, due to such willful blindness, malpractice, laziness and naivety at the top.
Jim J Fox says

Frank Anderson says
mortimer, I see no reasonable excuse for the false statement when it was made, and no excuse whatever for failing to correct the lie in 20 years. As I quote probably too often, if he is ignorant, it is because he refuses to learn. “Deliberate ignorance constitutes knowledge of the truth.” Wyle v. R.J. Reynolds.
Lying requires an intention to deceive. A false statement spoken in error and later corrected is not a lie, but an error. This is a lie.
Short but good example: I had a new, and short lived client lie to me. I repeated his lie in a pleading. Immediately before the hearing he produced the document exposing his lie. The first words out of my mouth, as required by the law and disciplinary rules was to call the falsehood to the attention of the judge. He was disappointed with the result.
mortimer says
If Bush Jr lied to Americans about Islam, it is unacceptable. If Bush Jr DID NOT KNOW about JIHADISM, then that is also unacceptable. A president gets PAID to know and if he doesn’t know, he responsible for finding out.
If Bush Jr chose NOT to find out, and was willfully blind, he is negligent in his duty. Negligence in a president is UNACCEPTABLE.
I believe Bush Jr covered up rogue Saudi espionage as a favor for the Saudi leaders and for the sake of the oil industry.
Frank Anderson says
mortimer, he has had 20 years and every opportunity to KNOW what he said is a lie. As I illustrated in my example, speaking in error followed by immediate correction when the error becomes known, saved my law license and credibility in that court and every other. You can be certain that if I had failed to act as I did, the bar would have little work or choice about discipline. But Bush Jr. is NOT a lawyer. He has no license to protect. WE must not give him one when he obviously is unworthy of any.
Remember, a law license is a voucher by the supreme court of a state for a person’s character, competence and fitness. We each award licenses to some people by extending them our trust and credibility. The courts can revoke licenses when the person is found unworthy; and so should we when we find our trust misplaced.

George Bush had a golden opportunity, once in a 1000 year opportunity, to defang Islam for good. All the world expected it. Lauded by the world.
But Bush said that Islam is the Religion of Peace.
And now we have Biden. He actually surrendered NATO, the military arm of the West, to Islam. Far from Islam being defanged, its we in the West facing extinction.

I think he gauges threats based on who is affected, in the 9/11 attacks only some civilians and firemen were killed i.e. nobody important but in 6/1 in his view could have been potentially dangerous for politicians and bureaucrats of a certain species (Democrats) so therefore absolutely deplorable.
Not a very balanced point of view from today’s viewpoint as GWB has ample opportunity to cast a critical eye over the footage and see if there is anyone carrying guns (no) is anyone carrying any kind of weapon? (not really) is anyone actually committing violence (no) is anyone trying to burn the place down (no) now take stock of who actually got killed, an unarmed female protestor who was no great threat was shot for reasons unknown and the perpetrator has yet to be charged with her murder.
So overall the demonstration was colourful and noisy and constituted unruly trespass of a public space but in reality didn’t amount to much more than that, but because some politicians felt threatened it was elevated to a 9/11 level, which is insane.
mortimer says
The January 6 protest was a sit-in by people with a grievance. No one has been charged with insurrection nor will be. Other countries have had MUCH BIGGER PROTESTS against their governments. The 2020 election has now been exposed as corrupted in about 15 different ways. The Dem leaders were deeply involved in it and orchestrated it, but forensic auditing has uncovered much of it. The surveillance camera evidence and undercover taping of CONSPIRATORS confessing will be conclusive for the public. The highly technical CANVASSING of GHOST VOTERS will convince judges.

Bush 43, for whom I voted twice for President, represents to me a massive failure. The fact, by his own admission, he voted for Condoleezza Rice in the 2020 election, indicates what a fool he remains.
Ditto for for his wife, Laura, who criticized Trump a few years ago for trying to secure our southern border (N.B., every nation has a right to secure their border).
All the Bushes have, effectively, been RINOs—even Bush 41 and his staff made fun of Reagan once in office and which pissed me off much so.
No Bush is worth anything that benefits America. Not one damn one. They’re all RINOs and RINOs are arguably worse than Democrats, just like so-called moderate Muslims are worse compared to your most “devout” Muslims (e.g., the Taliban) because they give cover to iniquity.
This is how I see Bush 43 today. You bet I do. No contest.

Bush Jr. never showed the slightest indication that he understood the jihad doctrine or that jihad is compulsory for all Muslims. He was TOO IMPORTANT to learn about Islam’s core teaching of warfare against disbelievers. Why rock the boat with his oil partners in Arabia? Business is business, even when the business partners are using their cash to fight us and kill us through jihad conspiracies.
I rather Bush Jr. ever learned the truth of the words of former sheikh Sam Solomon:
“Taqiyya permeates nearly all interactions between Muslims and non-Muslim societies.”

The secret service didn’t do a very good job of clearing vantage points on that fateful day, and where were the TV cameras?
And yes the president head does appear to snap back at the impact but I think his head was already bent forward before the shot, in any case I think the examination found the entry wound was from the rear of the skull not the front.

The is no “Zabruda tape”. There is a Zapruder film–a home movie of JFK’s visit to Dallas that captured the assassination.

I’m afraid “Family of Secrets” is ugly and ridiculous conspiracy theory fare–it claims that George H.W. Bush was involved with the assassination of JFK. (Note that Russ Baker based this on Bush 41 not being able to remember where he was on 11/22/63).
We can criticize George W. Bush for his failings without embracing this vicious claptrap.

James Lincoln says
Wellington,
To your point, the 2003 book “Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK” still stands the test of time identifying Oswald as the sole assassin.
Wellington says
David M: The first link you provided me uses a word like “purports” and the author says “I can’t say it’s him.” The second link is also very sketchy and demonstrates nothing. Besides, Bush lived in Texas at the time.
Richard Nixon also happened to be in Texas on the day that JFK was assassinated. Some think this makes Nixon complicit.
Conspiracy theories do one of two things or both: 1) They take facts and twist them (e.g., Nixon in Texas on November 22nd, 1963; 2) They just state false things (e.g., Oswald wasn’t a very good marksman—in fact, Oswald reached the second highest level for marksmanship while in the Marine Corps and any Marine is an above average shot; Oswald was an above average shot for a Marine.
As James Lincoln already mentioned, Posner’s Case Closed proves beyond any reasonable doubt that Oswald, and Oswald alone, killed JFK. If you read all some 600 pages of this work I don’t see how any reasonable person can conclude there still was any conspiracy to kill JFK. It is a very dense, thoroughly researched, work and goes into depth about Oswald’s life, Ruby’s, dismantles all kinds of conspiracy theories, deals extensively with ballistics matters, etc. I highly suggest you get a copy and read it. I think you will have no doubt if you read all of this work that there was absolutely no conspiracy of any kind to assassinate JFK.
BTW, no serious historian thinks there was a conspiracy. None. Conspiracy theories about the JFK assassination are put forth by people with way too much time on their hands.
gregbeetham says
I think there might have been a Mafia connection, Oswald was already primed because JFK had supported the attack on his beloved Cuba and Oswald was already known to various agencies that might have had mob connections.
JFK and his brother were currently engaged in dismantling the mob and were warned about how dangerous that was. Mob tentacles reached into high places so there was concern about what the investigation might expose.
All it would have taken was a word dropped into Oswald’s ear in a bar about the upcoming visit by JFK and the view he would have from the book repository.
Wellington says
gregbeetham: There was no mafia conspiracy of any kind. It’s true that the mafia was surprised and angry that Robert Kennedy as AG went after them especially since it is quite arguable that the Chicago mob headed by Giancana helped JFK win Illinois and specifically Cook County, but no evidence of any kind exists that shows any mafia involvement in the killing of JFK.
Moreover, no one of sense, whether the Mafia, the KGB, the CIA (that’s when it was still sensible), etc. would ever have anything to do with such a loser as Lee Harvey Oswald. He was highly unstable and just some two months before the assassination tried to go to Cuba via its embassy in Mexico. The Cubans knew nothing about Oswald but contacted the Soviet embassy in Mexico City because Oswald had told them he spent time in the Soviet Union (which he did from 1959-1962) and that embassy contacted Moscow where Oswald was known for the nut he was and they got back to the Soviet embassy in Mexico City to tell the Cuban embassy there to have nothing to do with this guy. Oswald, angry (he was often angry), thereafter came back to Texas (where his Russian wife was) and got a job in October at the School Book Depository through some acquaintances. It was all coincidence. Indeed, the JFK trip to Dallas, which JFK didn’t want to take but had to because at the time there was a rift in the Texas Democratic Party, was only arranged shortly before his visit, so it’s not as though anyone had long-term knowledge of this visit coming up. Oswald just happened to be at the right place at the wrong time for JFK and fired three shots in about 4.5 seconds (though he had about 8 seconds to do this). The first shot missed and this bullet was never found. The second shot hit both Kennedy and Governor Connally (and which bullet was found largely intact on the gurney that brought the Governor into Parkland Hospital) and the third shattered a major portion of JFK’s brain and was the bullet which killed him (and about 3/8th of that bullet was recovered in the Lincoln JFK and Connally were in). Oswald fired from a Mannlicher-Carcano rifle that he purchased earlier in the year and in the Spring of 1963 came very close to killing retired General Edwin Walker using it (the bullet hit the horizontal cross section of one of Walker’s windows in his home and this knocked it off slightly so it went through Walker’s hair but didn’t hit his skull). If Oswald had killed Walker he was going to flee and JFK in November never would have been assassinated.
BTW, the bullets Oswald used were 6.5 millimeter which is enough to bring down an elephant. Oswald left the rifle behind some boxes on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository where he had fired the three shots once he fled after killing the President. Later that afternoon he would kill Officer J.D. Tippit before he was found and arrested in a movie theater. I am 100% certain Oswald was the killer and that no one put him up to it.
gregbeetham says
Hmm 6.5mm is .264 calibre but the so called 6.5 Mannlicher-Carcano was actually 6.77mm .267 cal (often happens within rifle nomenclature) which is hardly Elephant class but what the Mannlicher design did was shoot a long projectile to improve the ballistic coefficient and that also raised the projectile mass above the usual that you would associate with a rather small calibre which was 162gn at a fairly ordinary velocity of 2,300 ft/s but the calibre was most certainly substantial enough to kill humans at much greater distances than Oswald shot JFK over provided the shooter and the rifle could provide the needed accuracy which in the case of the rifle Oswald used raised a few question marks upon evaluation.
Obviously Oswald was informed accurately enough and in advance far enough to organize a method to smuggle the rifle upstairs where he worked and there were people with an agenda who wouldn’t complain if JFK got assassinated.
The balance of your comment is reasonable and as good as anything else I’ve read.

Instead, he chose to run against someone who stood up for Trump by challenging the election results in a few states that a supine SCOTUS refused to take up on ‘standing’
I’m not sure whether George P is genuine about his support of Trump, or is just trying to preserve a political career independent of his clan, but if it’s the former, he does have to do a better job standing up for America First policies than trying to kneecap someone who’s pretty much proven

Bush was not the leader we needed on 9/11. OBL knew he would react in a way that fit his goal. It was Bush’s unique moment in history. He had advisors around him who knew Islam better than we did. He failed the nation terribly by setting us on a fools errand trying to swat terrorists instead of putting our focus on the ideology that produces them. He could have told us they had conspirators inside and outside our country assisting them. He could have said jihad is part of Islam. He could have said our natural instinct is to destroy them. He could have said, first we find out who aided and abetted them. Then we hold them all responsible, wherever they are and we do that in a way that this menace is removed from this earth. He could have united the world against Islam; it was a perfect teaching moment. Sadly, he was not a wise.
His remarks Saturday solidify this assessment of him and the fact that he has not learned anything in 20 years proves the point. The final straw was his equating American citizens, in any way, to Islamic jihadists. How could he say such a thing?

R., islam declared total war of conquest, slavery death and looting 1400 years ago against the entire world. A declaration of war is unilateral; it does not require acceptance by the targets to be effective. In 1400 years, depending on who is estimating and what areas are considered, muslims, those who follow, have killed between 250 and 1000 million people, and more daily today.
Please, I ask you, take the time to read Robert Spencer’s Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, Mark Gabriel’s The Unfinished Battle, and Bill Warner’s Abridged Koran to see for yourself. Those to me are the best introductory books I have read among about 30 in total.

I think Bush listened to his advisors–who likely asked Muslim “leaders” about Islam. They of course replied with Taqiyya.

You have to realize that the Bush family was and probably still is in business with the Saudi royal family and the Bin Laden’s. His position is all about OIL MONEY! He and the Chaney family got vary rich off of the war on terror, without touching the true enemies.
The little people always pay the price and we have with tax dollars and blood.
It would be interesting to know who the Americans and islamic world leaders own million dollar condos in Dubai next store to each other.

Bush ignored warniings of 9-11 ,and then went on to say Islam is a religion of peace . Bush is a certified fool.
PMK says
He’s not a fool. He’s a globalist. The American people are not on his radar.

Bush is not the only western leader to parrot this tripe. He was among the first to do so, though, which has been terribly harmful.
DP111 says
The strangest thing has happened. Islamists, doing traditional Jihad, carried out 9/11. Twenty tears later, with continuous leftist propaganda, Muslims are now the victims of 9/11.
That propaganda for Islam started with George Bush. With little or no knowledge of the carnage that Islam perpetrated through history , he called Islam the “Religion of Peace”. The opposite is true. In keeping with his ignorance or otherwise of Islam, he opened America to Islamic immigration. He followed this idiocy with the invasion of Iraq, killing Saddam, who had kept a lid on Jihadi terrorism. This led to the creation of ISIS and the hydra of Jihad. This further led to the virtual extinction of Iraqi Christians, a people dating to the time of Christ. Has Bush ever apologised to Iraqi Christians for the brutal systematic destruction of an ancient people.
