Heather Murphy is a reporter covering travel for The New York Times. Before joining the Travel desk, she wrote about a vast array of topics including advances in DNA technology for the New York Times Express and Science desks.

She is particularly interested in the way that travel is evolving in response to the pandemic, technology, and climate change and welcome tips, ideas and complaints.

Ms. Murphy began her journalism career at the Santiago Times in Chile. Before moving into reporting full-time, she worked as a photo editor for Slate, a multimedia producer for NPR and an editor on the New York Times science and international desks.
