“Mosque of Elsau: the mayor welcomes the work of the police, the association denounces a relentlessness,” translated from “Mosquée de l’Elsau: la maire salue le travail de la police, l’association dénonce un acharnement,” Les Actualités d’Alsace, October 13, 2021 (thanks to Medforth):
A police raid took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the Elsau mosque, at 101 rue de Unterelsau in Strasbourg, authorized by a judge of the Strasbourg magistrate’s court who is in charge of detention matters.
The association Citoyen de l’Elsau (Ciel), which is said to be responsible for cultural activities on the site, is in the prefecture’s crosshairs. It is accused of making “separatist” statements. It is therefore threatened with closure, like 75 other Muslim places of worship pointed out by the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, at the end of 2020.
“This imprecision and confusion stem from the beginnings of an amateurism of the state services”
The Elsau Mosque Association was keen to respond with a press release sent out on Tuesday evening. It indicates that it is the de facto manager of this place of worship, contrary to what is indicated by the visitation authorization issued by the court, which attributes it to Ciel. “This imprecision and confusion are the result of the amateurism of the state services from the start, proof of a haste that responds to a political agenda at the end of the next presidential elections.”
It continues: “This procedure is, in our opinion, part of a political unrest that aims to gag and marginalize our leaders who carry a discourse of citizen participation far from any extremism or conformism. Each man has his freedom of conscience and religion, secularism allows believers to freely practice their faith in accordance with the law,” recalls the board of directors of the Elsau mosque.
The association considers itself a victim of “multiple means of pressure implemented for years by local elected officials with the help of agents of the prefecture, who write notes for the circumstance against our members.” Which is unrelenting, especially since “all summons or proceedings against some of our officials were dismissed.”
The press release ends with an excerpt from the October 12 minutes written by the judicial police officer. He writes: “Our visit did not uncover any element related to the motivations for the order of the judge of freedoms and detention.” The minutes, of which the association gives a copy, continues as follows: “It should be noted that no computer investigation was carried out.”
Former MP and departmental councilor Eric Elkouby (PS) also reacted to the raid on the premises of the Elsau mosque, in a completely different way. He denounces “this association […] known to state services for its communitarianism and its allegiance to the Salafist and Islamist movement, but [which] has the audacity to constantly claim to be the victim of harassment.” He “officially asks for a clear and unambiguous position on the part of the Mayor of Strasbourg, on this specific issue, because it guarantees good living together and harmony within his municipality”.
The association has called for a protest against Islamophobia and respect for each religion on Saturday October 16 at 3 p.m., Place Broglie in Strasbourg.
Michael Copeland says
The mosque is accused of making “separatist” statements.
All credit to Gerald Darmanin and the authorities in France for making and continuing these mosque closures. Perhaps they may before long find out that “separatism” is a basic teaching of Islam.
The UK, unfortunately, is a long way behind the curve.
Fitna says
Clearly France is doing more than most western nations to deal with the threat of Islam but it’s still not enough. There are 2,300 mosques in France, closing a handful here and there solves nothing.
Muslims will also keep opening new mosques under different names. The ONLY way you will stop Islam is when you start deporting Muslims in vast numbers, preferably all.
Why stop at only a few mosques? This just shows France doesn’t fully understand the real scope of the threat. All mosques preach the same message of hate and conquest. Shut them all down and throw out Muslims. It’d be great if you could throw out their dhimmi supporters too.
JimJFox says
Better yet, cut-off funding from Islamic countries especially Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran the rest of the oil rich exporters of murder.
Fitna says
Indeed Jim, it’ll take an “all of the above” approach to end this menace, esp given that rich muslim countries are funding the building of mosques and fueling terrorism.
This is why I hope the West wakes up-because Islam will need to be fought by non-violent (closing mosques, cutting off funding, jailing subversives like CAIR, etc), and violent (warfare) means due to all their terrorist groups.
JimJFox says
Yes Fitna, I believe violence will be required as it has been all throughout islam’s history, and that is a very scary prospect. When (not if) Iran gets nukes, Israel will be in mortal danger and may be forced into a first use policy (the Samson Option).
We can only hope that Israel and it’s allies can somehow destroy Iran’s nuclear and missile program before this eventuality. Best scenario would be the downfall of the Mullahs. Massive destruction of Iran would be a tragedy for most of the Iranian people who I think still consider themselves Persian and zoroastrian…

France: Police raid Salafist mosque, mosque holds protest against ‘Islamophobia’
When accused, claim victimhood status. It’s a time-hallowed and frequently used strategy.
……………..
Yes–especially favored by dishonest Muslims.
Fitna says
Indeed, in a way it’s good since the masses will see the sham that the term ‘Islamophobia’ really is and they’ll see Muslims always pull out this card whenever they’re caught for being extremists.
Eventually it’ll lose all meaning and value to silence opposition to Islam. When Muslims call us bigots, racists, Islamophobes, what they’re really saying is that we oppose their fascist agenda to conquer us. It’s the same as saying “you’re anti-Islam.”
Ofc anyone who’s read the Quran, studied Islam’s history will realize that Islam is our enemy so obviously it is only sensible to be anti-Islam, because they’re anti-‘infidel.’
Fitna says
It’s like Nazis calling us ‘Anti-Nazis’ or ‘Naziphobes.’ Yes we are and proud of opposing fascist ideologies and death cults (like Islam).
JimJFox says
Some things absolutely demand to be hated, Islam being the prime example.
Hating Muslims who support, plan and carry out jihad attacks- oh YES.
Fitna says
@Jim,
Yes in order to enable the execution of terrorists, old laws of treason need to be activated and perhaps updated.
Additionally declaring war on Islam would make sense as well since currently it is treated as a crime or ‘law enforcement’ issue but we are actually at war, time to call it as such.
James Lincoln says
Fitna,
The United States should at least start by:
1. Immediately deporting all muslims who can be legally deported.
2. Not allow any further muslim immigration.
3. Conducting surveillance on all mosques immediately – and permanently close any that preach violence against infidels.
4. Ensure that all muslims follow US law.

#1 should that happen (extremely unlikely) millions of Muslims will remain
#2.ain’t gonna happen (remember the so-called Muslim bans?)
#3 given all the relevant in mosque posts by MEMRI and JW—call me skeptical
#4 and make sure the public understands why they don’t want to do that

The only honest Muslims are the MINOs! That is, those who know jackshit about Islam…

Well, them and those openly preaching Jihad terror, Jim.
