The Biden’s handlers’ regime is viciously hostile to Israel and avid to appease Iran. The Israeli authorities are doubtless aware that this warning was not issued with Israel’s best interests in mind.
“US warns Israel its attacks on Iran nuclear program are counterproductive — NYT,” Times of Israel, November 22, 2021:
US officials have warned Israel that its attacks against the Iranian nuclear program are counterproductive and have enabled Tehran to rebuild an even more efficient enrichment system, the New York Times reported Sunday.
Citing officials familiar with the behind-the-scenes discussion between Washington and Jerusalem, as the US continues to try and bring Iran back into the nuclear deal, the report said that Israeli officials have dismissed the warnings, saying they have “no intention of letting up.”
Noting that in the last 20 months there have been four explosions at Iranian nuclear facilities attributed to Israel, along with the killing of Iran’s top nuclear scientist, the report said US officials have cautioned their Israeli counterparts that while such efforts may be “tactically satisfying,” they are “ultimately counterproductive.”
In the wake of the explosions, which took uranium enrichments plants offline and destroyed dozens of centrifuges, the Americans noted that Iran has managed to resume enrichment within months, often installing newer machines that can enrich uranium far faster.
However, the officials said Israel appeared unmoved by the arguments, and this was one of the many areas on which the US and Israel disagree regarding efforts to thwart Tehran’s drive to build nuclear weapons.
Further complicating matters was the fact that Iran has apparently managed to improve its defenses, particularly in the cyber field, the report said. As a consequence, cyber attacks like the Stuxnet attack that crippled centrifuges at the Natanz nuclear enrichment site for more than a year, an attack widely reported to be a joint US-Israeli effort, have become “much harder now to pull off.”…

Foreign policy is a joke to Democrats. They don’t think anything bad will happen to the US until it does.
Biden has proven that he is unfit to be CiC given how he bungled Afghanistan. A 10 yr old would have more intelligence in fighting against the Taliban than Biden and his corrupt, cowardly, traitorous admin.
I’m surprised he hasn’t been impeached already. Should he allow Iran to get nukes does he think he’s safe? Did he forget that to Iran’s regime the US is the ‘Big Satan’ and Israel is the ‘Little Satan?’ If anything Iran will nuke US cities first to prevent retaliation after they go after Israel.
Iran is ruled by dangerous psychos, if you don’t take them out they’ll take you out. Since Israel’s existence is at stake, hopefully they won’t be swayed in any way and proceed to bomb Iran, because the rest of the world is too cowardly to do the right thing.
CogitoErgoSum says
What good would it do to impeach Biden? Kamala Harris is next in line to take over as President if Old Joe can’t do the job. That woman scares me more than Biden does. Iran is not the only country currently being ruled by dangerous psychos. I’m just waiting for Biden to say that he’s decided to dismantle all our nuclear weapons in order to bring peace to the world …. because he is the oldest and wisest President we have ever had. General Milley and that rear admiral of a man with long hair and wearing a woman’s dress will back him up on that too. God save us all.

Grimly true, CogitoErgoSum.

Near impossible to impeach “The Pervert In Chief” as GOP don’t have the numbers in both Houses.

Counterproductive are not the explosions at the iranian nuclear facilities by Israel , counterproductive would be letting Iran go ahead with it’s nuclear program unimpeaded.

I’m not so sure about this. I think it far more likely they take foreign policy very seriously. They want bad things to happen to the united States and they are doing everything they can to bring that about.
gravenimage says
Anjuli, most Democrats I know think like the former–anything bad happening to us isn’t really on their radar; and they don’t quite believe that it could happen.
But there is a small hardcore of the far left that really would cheer this happening, as they cheered 9/11.
James Lincoln says
Due to the fraudulent Harris / Biden “illegal occupiers” of the White House, Israel should, at the present time, not count on the United States as an ally.
Israel should take any actions against Iran that they deem necessary in order to protect their country – and their people.

Sadly agree. Luckily, most of the American people do support Israel.

Impeach Biden and Harris is not better . Shei is worse than Biden.
Reuven says
The good thing about Joe being totally useless and incompetent, is that Israel will deal with the Iran problem without silk gloves.
Senile zombie Joe will regret not listening Israel and will find out too late what “counterproductive” means.

It seems odd that Pakistan got the bomb so much sooner than Iran. Is Iran really trying to build atomic bombs, or just to blackmail dopes like Obiden to give them more money? Anyway, even if Israel bombed them, they would probably start up their work soon again. So what is the use of it all. Somehow it is all a big mess, and the Biden government is not doing any good. They seem to want to appeal to anti-Semitic voters rather than to make peace in the world. If they had learned something from Trump, they could have continued the good start he made.

There really is a purpose to stymying Iran’s getting nukes. Even if they start again it sets them back–this actually is an accomplishment.
James Lincoln says
Jim,
I think that it would be prudent for Western leaders to assume that Iran already has some level of nuclear weapon capability.

It’s amazing how the NYT so freely passes on unprovable information designed to generate, likely, false perception within the citizens. Sensitive relations between nations are normally kept confidential and not fed as propaganda to the Press. This story smacks of intent to control the Israeli scope of responses to Iran’s nuclear weapons program and is also a not-so-subtle hint that the US is no longer a dependable ally.
The think-tank boys have made the situation worse. Israel now must plan for all-out pre-emptive war with Iran, without the US. Let’s hope the Iranian citizens take back their nation before this eventuality.
gravenimage says
I am *no* fan of the New York Times, Westman, but they are quoting US officials here, not making their own editorial judgement call.
Westman says
The think-tanks are on the government dole and the officials are quoting the think tanks while mixing in their own propaganda. This is the bane of the technical revolution – the politicians, officials, are technically ignorant. They tend to believe what agencies and think tanks feed them and what we get is unnecessary wars and boondoggles.

No, actually it would be a good idea, the sooner the better.

Biden’s handlers warn Israel that a strike against Iran’s nuclear program would be ‘counterproductive’

“Counterproductive” to nip Iran’s nuke aspirations–and their ability to “wipe Israel off the map”? I guess it depends on what your goals are…

counterproductive is kinda our thing…

Biden makes an obvious point. Bombing and/or sabatoging Iran’s nuclear program would certainly be counterproductive to their goal of producing nuclear weapons.
Good one, Joe. C’mon man, you know the thing.
OLD GUY says
I wonder if Hunter Biden holds an economic interest in Irans nuclear enrichment program. Other wise it makes no sense to not destroy and set their nuclear program back. Even if you have to do it over and over to keep them from achieving their goal of a nuclear BOMB.
Jedothek says
“Counterproductive” is typical empty liberal blather. The question, seen clearly, is not what is counterproductive, but what will prevent Iran from lobbing a nuclear missle into Tel Aviv in the year 2023.
