“Associates are believed to have told detectives that Al Swealmeen, 32, an Iraqi asylum seeker, had since returned to Islam, although sources said that was ‘not a motive for an attack.'”
Come on, man! As I noted here, since Muhammad prescribed death for those who leave Islam (cf. Bukhari 9.84.57), apostasy is a very serious offense that can only be outweighed by an even greater good deed. And there is no deed greater than jihad: a hadith has a man asking Muhammad, “Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward).” Muhammad replied, “I do not find such a deed.” (Bukhari 56.4.2785) If Swealmeen was going through a time of personal crisis and decided to return to Islam, he would have needed to expiate his great sin of apostasy.
And if his act had nothing to do with Islam, what other reason could there have been for him to have undertaken a suicide mission? “Indeed, Allah has bought from the believers their lives and their wealth, because the garden will be theirs, they will fight in the way of Allah and will kill and be killed.” (Qur’an 9:111)
“Liverpool bomber ‘reverted to Islam’ in months before attack,” by Duncan Gardham, Fiona Hamilton, and Charlotte Wace, The Times, November 20 2021 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
The Liverpool hospital bomber had reverted to practising Islam in the months before his attack, investigators believe.
One theory is that Emad Al Swealmeen, who had converted to Christianity after his arrival in Britain, was trying to atone for apostasy which is considered to be punishable by death by some Islamic scholars.
Associates are believed to have told detectives that Al Swealmeen, 32, an Iraqi asylum seeker, had since returned to Islam, although sources said that was “not a motive for an attack”. Counterterrorism police are yet to find evidence of an ideology that motivated him.
Al Swealmeen started to attend Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral in late 2015, after his first plea for asylum was rejected, and converted in March 2017.
He was regularly attending church…

Hint: look at Jihadwatch.

Christians believe suicide is an act of despair and a failure to accept that God could love us all no matter what .. either that or that it is an act of someone insane. For Muslims it is an overt act of faith and an affirmation in the belief that they will be rewarded with carnal pleasure for eternity if the act of suicide results in the death of some Infidels … which to me is insane. The man either rejected Christian belief or was insane. As a Christian myself and in an effort to be charitable to the man I would call him insane. But if I were a Muslim would the more charitable thing be to call him insane or to say that he was trying to be a good Muslim? Islam and insanity – it’s hard to tell the difference between the two.

If his “associates” who said he “reverted,” are mozlums, they would be able to say what caused him to “revert,” if in fact he had ever “converted,” but changed his mind because he didn’t want his mozlum friends to bump him off. If the “sources” who say “that was not a motive,” are mozlum, then they are just lying to protect islam.
If the “sources” are not mozlum, then they have no clue about motive..or they do know and choose to help mozlums hide the truth of the matter from the public.
The law enforcement always look for motive because it helps them focus on those who would have one when a crime is committed.
In this case, they know who blew himself up, so a “motive” is not necessary for the case, unlike what means they use when the perp is unknown.
Now, if they wish to **predict** and *prevent* future attacks, they should just look at islam and see that it commands, demands and pretends to reward mozlums to do these evil acts.

I don’t find it a surprise that Iraqi Muslim who converted to Christianity has reverted to Islam ! Hello ! It’s Taqiyya British government you naive !! I wonder how many Million of Muslims are here in the West who faked their conversion to Christianity or even to atheism in order to make it to the West and then when they have the chance , they would strike hard as Emad did in Liverpool.!!
Mike says
One does not exclude the other. He could have converted and then returned to Islam. We have a picture of a man split within himself. There are many such people and no one calls them crazy.

Suicide is considered a serious sin under Christianity. Also, since this man failed to kill any Infidels with his bomb he succeeded only in committing suicide as far as Jihad goes. As with Christianity, suicide is considered a sin under Islam. I’d say the best thing one can say about this man is that he was crazy.
Michael Copeland says
Crazy? Not so fast. His plan – to kill and be killed – was to detonate his bomb at the cathedral amongst all those filthy kaffirs mixing sexes in public, with the women unveiled, and with haram music. This was thwarted by traffic (bad planning) so he switched targets to the Women’s Hospital, where his bomb detonator went off prematurely and failed to cause the desired explosion (bad construction). It did, however, catch fire.
As he failed to “kill and be killed” he does not qualify for the 72 virgins.
It is Islam’s rules that are “crazy”. He was dutifully following them.
CogitoErgoSum says
Well, I did say it was hard to tell the difference between Islam and crazy.
Treereen says
I see a man who was an opportunist.
He converted to Christianity and made a good show of going through the motions because that could have advanced his goal of remaining in the UK as a future “citizen”. No that’s wrong. As a future British passport holder who has (or had) nothing in common with the UK or its people.
When his asylum was rejected, he phased out the then valueless “Christianity” part so as not to make it look like an obvious “stepping stone” and went back to what he already knew. Would he have been called out as an apostate when he was already doing his part i.e. deceiving the infidel into giving him citizenship, free money and the chance to import his entire family to live on welfare? Or maybe they made him feel guilty that it did not work.
I don’t profess to know the level of psychological manipulation required to turn a failed asylum seeker with practically nothing to lose into a willing suicide bomber but that threshold seems to be A LOT lower where islam is concerned.
Doomer says
There is a reverse case of a leader who pretended to convert to Islam, was a military officer in the Turkish army for many years.
Then reverted to Christianity, and led an army against the Turks for 25 years.
He was SKANDERBEG( Lord Alexander ) ( 1405-1468 ),the national hero of Albania.
For 25 years, from 1443 to 1468, Skanderbeg’s 10,000-man army marched through Ottoman territory, winning against consistently larger and better-supplied Ottoman forces.

Yes, his story would make a great movie far better than any of the made up superhero movies we have been getting in recent times.
Richard says
“Liverpool jihad bomber had reverted to Islam in months before attack, but The Times says that wasn’t his motive”
The western media thinks it is its mandatory duty to exonerate Islam after every Jihad attack.
Not only that, it thinks it is honour bound to seek out some taqiyya infused Muslim cleric to say a few words on how wonderful Islam is – the hope and salvation for mankind.
Shalom says
According to Islam we are all Muslim. That is the word they use for converts — ‘a revert’. They want us all to ‘revert’
