Well, we’ll see. The Jews in the Qur’an are called the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166); and more. They are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).
What could possibly go wrong?
“Chief Rabbi condemns JNF UK chair Samuel Hayek’s ‘no future for Jews’ claim,” by Lee Harpin, Jewish News, January 7, 2022:
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis this week heaped further pressure on JNF UK by saying its chairman Samuel Hayek is “entirely wrong” to suggest the future of British Jewry is under threat as a result of Muslim immigration.
In a significant intervention, Rabbi Mirvis told Jewish News he believes Jews in the UK “are blessed to live in an overwhelmingly welcoming nation as one of the most vibrant, confident and contented Jewish communities in the world”.
And, pointedly, he also praised the support of the Muslim community, alongside that of “countless non-Jewish partners” in the fight against the “scourge of antisemitism” which he said sadly “continues to be an appalling blight upon British society”.
The Chief Rabbi – one of JNF UK’s honorary patrons alongside other senior political figures including former Labour prime ministers Sir Tony Blair and Gordon Brown – is the most high-profile figure yet to condemn comments made by Hayek in an interview with Jewish News last month.
Asked to clarify a claim that “Jews have no future in England”, which the charity chief made to the Jerusalem Post, Hayek sparked widespread anger when he said that as a result of Muslim immigration “maybe in 10 years, maybe less” Jews would no longer be able to live in the UK.
Responding to Hayek’s remarks, the Chief Rabbi told Jewish News: “It is entirely wrong to suggest the future of the British Jewish community is in question as a result of demographic change in this country.
“There is no doubt that the scourge of antisemitism continues to be an appalling blight upon British society, but recent years have demonstrated that the Jewish community can rely on the support of countless non-Jewish partners in tackling anti-Jewish hatred, including from within the Muslim community.”
He added: “It is possible to be realistic about the challenges of contemporary antisemitism in the UK while also believing that we are blessed to live in an overwhelmingly welcoming nation, as one of the most vibrant, confident and contented Jewish communities in the world.”
Rabbi Mirvis’s intervention came after more than 46 elected Board of Deputies representatives signed a letter demanding that trustees of the Jewish National Fund UK charity back calls for chairman Samuel Hayek to resign over his ‘Islamophobic’ comments.
The open letter – signed by deputies and those with under-35 observer status on the Board from across the Jewish religious spectrum, including three United Synagogue representatives – calls for the 11 trustees to take “decisive active” over the JNF UK chair’s inflammatory comments.
It states: “Samuel Hayek must resign, and his Islamophobic comments must be condemned explicitly by you as his fellow trustees.
“Until such a time that this happens, we will advise our synagogues and organisations to withdraw cooperation with JNF UK and the programmes it funds and supports. We will also advise members of our synagogues to ensure their children do not take part in programmes run or funded by JNF UK.”
The letter, sent to JNF UK trustees on Tuesday, states: “It is chilling that Hayek echoes Great Replacement Theory – an ideology used historically against Jewish communities – that ‘the white Christian majority is shrinking… to a degree where there is a point it cannot protect itself anymore’.”
The letter, signed by Masorti, Reform Judaism, Liberal Judaism and Habonim Dror, UJS and Yachad representatives, adds: “These bigoted remarks have no place in our community. If we have come to expect zero-tolerance of antisemitism, we must show zero- tolerance of racism and Islamophobia.”…
Roland says
JNF is a Zionist organization interested in encouraging Jewish emigration to Israel. Mr. Hayek is well within his rights to express his opinion. Growing Muslim population and Leftist Jew-hatred are factors that British Jews should soberly consider. But Rabbi Mirvis and the Jewish Board of Deputies also deserve a hearing. It would be irresponsible for them to endorse a panicked exodus when life for most British Jews is fairly good.

Does this mean that Jews in Britain should not even be allowed to cite the threat of violent, Jew-hating Muslims in Britain? Life is only “fairly good” for Jews in the UK because violent Muslims still make up a *comparitively* small 5%–but this population is growing all the time. Why should Jews–or any Infidels–have to be silent about this?
As for Rabbi Mirvis getting a hearing here, he *is*–see the story above. Getting a hearing does not mean supine agreement with an unifiormed opinion. Note his claim that Muslims are aiding in the fight against antisemitism–even though this claim from Muslims is mothing but Taqiyya.
libertyORdeath says
Life for British Jews is “fairly good” to this point because muslims have been such a small minority to this point. Imho, there is every reason to be worried as a jew in the UK. The Labour party was ripped apart by the antisemitism in its party, and they have a hand in shaping British policies, including mass migration from muslim countries.
I would ask this rabbi to name a single country with a muslim majority where jews live a “fairly good” life. I would ask him what substantive work has been done by his muslim allies to fight the rampant antisemitism of their adherents. I would also ask why antisemitic hate crimes have surged all over Europe since the massive influx of mostly illegal muslim migrants from countries that have completely wiped out their former jewish populations.
If he could explain then maybe I’d believe that the UK will be the glorious multicultural utopia that they claim to want. Until then, I’d say that the British jews should be ready for ANYTHING.

Kesselman says
The UK chief rabbi got it all wrong. Had he understood the Bible’s story of Lot’s encounter with the male inhabitants of Sodoma rightly he would have had it otherwise?
The mob outside of Lot’s house demands that Lot deliver his two male guests (angels) so they can do evil against them (sodomize). But Lot is a righteous man and denies their request due to his understanding of how one is obliged to protect guests/aliens in one’s own house. Then Lot makes a flaw and says to the mob that they can get their will with his two virgin daughters instead.
To make one right and one wrong does not make an equal. This is to say that if you’re a rigid follower of justice and let strangers feel your hospitality but turn a blind eye to those already in the house you have committed treason.
I had a higher expectation of a man of faith.

The chief rabbi speaks to all sorts of people in interfaith gatherings. He is told what to say as well by the government, of which he is a part as a member of the House of Lords.

Mortimer, I don’t see where Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis is a member of the House of Lords, and I can find no such reference. Citations?
mortimer says
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis blames chairman Samuel Hayek for stating the obvious, but then, Mirvis makes matters worth by saying a Muslim increase will not lead to persecution of Jews. It has done so everywhere else. Rabbi Mirvis is knowingly lying or he is irresponsibly unaware and naive.
Either way, Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis’s remarks are not realistic.

Agreed, Mortimer.

So, we live in an ‘overwhelmingly welcoming nation’ but ‘antisemitism is an appalling blight on british society’. He must be a politician, full of doublespeak and garbage. Way to contradict himself.
And as for the charge of islamofauxbia, all I can say is the truth is the truth. It is a statement of fact, not hatred.
This guy is no Rabbi Sacks, not even close. I wish he was still with us.
Adrian says
The Chief Rabbi can say whatever he like sas long as he is prepared to take responsibility for ignoring the obvious.
What can’t he see that is happening the world over, notably in France today as well as his country of Origin, South Africa. Why does he think so many South Africans have left the country going to Canada, Australia and Israel. London is full of French Jews today and they are leaving France in huge numbers, many moving to Israel. Perhaps Mirvis sees the French exodus to Israel as ‘The Work of Hashem’.

Spot on, Michael. There are many more like him. Islam itself teaches Jew-hatred and genocide.
mgoldberg says
The Rabbi could have suggested that the man explain his words. That being that it is the Jihadist mentality within the immigrant community and the religious muslim community advocating harm and worse to Jews (and others). That just as likely would have brought similar opprobrium and condemnation but at least it wouldn’t have devolved into this absurd denigration of a man who advocated no such violence against any muslims, as opposed to those Jihadists in the muslim community- too numerous to list here- who have declared their hatred of Jews, and others and have advocated hatred and or violence.

He may well be in denial about the Jihad threat. This is true of many Gentiles, as well.
OLD GUY says
The muslim/islamic migration invasion of the UK is real and will result in a danger to all non-islamic people.
Islam teaches the hate of all other religions and non-islamic followers, to the point of enslavement or murder. There is no such thing as a moderate muslim, they either participate in JIHAD directly or support it financially and allow it to continue through their silence.
Rafael says
Silence is an important point, Old Guy, well stated. If the Christian genocides of Turkey had not happened, there would be many Christians in Turkey today and the Jews would also live in more peace in these lands. Most Muslims in Turkey are silent about the jihadic threaths against non-Muslims by the Turkish government and Erdogan. They do not participate in jihad but they do not defend the jihad victims either and even sometimes blame the victims.
gravenimage says
Grimly true. The Turkish government still aggressively denies the Armenian Genocide.
